Function Brewing is officially open in Bloomington as of today. Starting at 3pm they’ll be serving up 9 beers and 12 sandwiches, salads, soups and desserts. I had the opportunity to get a sneak peak on Sunday, and talk with owner/brewer Steve Llewellyn. The microphones were on and I’ll be releasing another special episode with him in a couple days. Tin Man Brewing cans are available now in Indianapolis at the Bottle Shoppe at 49th and College, Big Red Liquors in Broad Ripple and at A-1 Liquors on 52nd St. and at Shoefly Public House on E. 22nd St. Books & Brews has named former Warbird Brewing Company Head Brewer Brent McGill as the first to take on the same title at Books & Brews. McGill, who holds a Masters Degree in Microbiology & Immunology from the University of Michigan, has previously spent time at Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Mad Anthony’s Brewery in Fort Wayne. Sun King, RAM - Indianapolis and 3 Floyds all took home medals at the Great American Beer Festival this weekend. Congrats to all those Indiana brewers! Inside Indiana Business featured all Indiana breweries this week on their show. Check out these video snippets from the show. I got to talk to Steve Llewellyn, owner of Function Brewing, this week. He says that batch #7 is in the fermenter and they're shooting for a mid-November opening. I'm also planning another special episode with Steve in a couple weeks, once they're a little closer to opening. Union Brewing has teamed up with Cutters Brewing, for a beer called Rye on the Scarecrow. This one should be available in about 4 weeks. The Federal shutdown affects yet another local brewery.
