Connor Tomlinson joins John for a compelling examination of Britain's fractured politics and its loss of cultural self-belief. Tomlinson offers a frank account of how mass immigration and rising Islamist separatism are reshaping the social fabric of Britain. Difficult but necessary questions are examined concerning integration, national cohesion, and whether the country still has the confidence to uphold its own cultural inheritance. Despite the challenges, Tomlinson insists that renewal is still possible if Britain can rediscover the confidence to enforce its laws, protect its institutions, and expect newcomers to adopt its cultural values. This conversation is a call to restore order, confidence, and a shared sense of direction for Britain's future.Connor Tomlinson is a British political commentator, writer, and policy researcher known for his work on immigration, identity, environmental policy, and the cultural challenges facing the UK. A regular contributor to GB News, TalkTV, The Lotus Eaters, and a writer for Courage Media.
Simone is the last Greater Bamboo Lemur in Ranomafana, a protected rainforest in south-east Madagascar. After a happy start in life, surrounded by family, Simone finds herself alone, as members of her family disappear one by one. Three years on, and she's still alone - a social animal, a primate, just like us; how has this isolation affected her mental state? Through primatologist Dr. Patricia Wright and researcher, Alba Schielen, we witness Simone's desperate bid for companionship, as she takes a bold step for survival. At last Simone is happy again, but is all as harmonious as it seems? https://www.instagram.com/ct_wildlife/ Director Statement I had a chance encounter with the lemur featured in my film whilst trekking in the rainforest during my honeymoon in Madagascar in 2022. Upon hearing that this lemur was the last of her species in the area, I was eager to find out more about her and tell her story, which serves as a poignant reminder of how the global biodiversity crisis is affecting animals on a personal level. —— Subscribe to the podcast: https://twitter.com/wildsoundpod https://www.instagram.com/wildsoundpod https://www.facebook.com/wildsoundpod

In this episode, Zach and I discuss how spending time with God shapes the way we show up for people, the need to live authentically rather than chasing what's popular, and trusting in God's goodness.Quotes for Notes:“I have to be alone with God so I can be together with people.”“So many times, times where I get stuck, it is because I am trying to be somebody different. The times where I get caught up, the times where I feel a blockage, it's because I've turned into somebody who I was never called to be.”“His goodness is not defined by the world's evil.”Links:“The Circle Maker” by Mark Batterson: https://www.christianbook.com/the-circle-maker-mark-batterson/9780310346913/pd/346913?en=google&event=SHOP&kw=christian-living-0-20%7C346913&p=1179710&utm_source=google&p=1237749&dv=c&cb_src=google&cb_typ=shopping&cb_cmp=21328467087&cb_adg=167503012527&cb_kyw=&utm_medium=shopping&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21328467087&gbraid=0AAAAAD_dTHauHNbi_ru0U6ci_-8XmLwop&gclid=CjwKCAjwr8LHBhBKEiwAy47uUnCWOqnlmG1Gi-8dMmNlNAqGD93Fgm5EjQ1TP9u4TuzXBEmMBqYSoxoCDhwQAvD_BwE“Our Awesome Lord” by Frank Tunstall: https://www.amazon.com/Our-Awesome-Lord-Captivating-Pentecostal/dp/1599796090

Today's guest is a trailblazer, mentor, and one of the most respected voices in Tennessee EMS. With a 42-year career that includes 31 years with the Nashville Fire Department as a District Chief and 15 years as an EMS educator, Christy Tomlinson brings wisdom, candor, and heart to this conversation. She opens up about what it means to walk away well, how to manage the echoes of a life in service, and why the end of a career doesn't mean the end of your story. Please welcome Christy Tomlinson. In this powerful episode, Christy Tomlinson—retired District Chief and 42-year EMS veteran—shares her deeply personal reflections on career longevity, financial preparedness, post-traumatic stress, and the surprising emotional challenges of retirement. She discusses how to know when it's time to step away, why talking early and often about difficult calls matters, and how self-awareness and open communication can shape the future of EMS culture. If you're a seasoned provider, a new recruit, or anywhere in between, this conversation will stay with you.Leadership Applications1. Plan for the End from the BeginningChristy emphasizes the importance of setting financial goals early—even before you think you're ready to retire. “I didn't expect to leave, but I made sure I could if I needed to.”2. Know Your Triggers, Know Your ReactionsLeaders must be self-aware. Understanding your personal responses to critical incidents—whether it's stuttering, exhaustion, or intrusive thoughts—can help you manage stress and communicate clearly with your team and loved ones.3. Normalize Conversations About Mental HealthFrom early CISM training to mentoring the next generation, Christy models how vulnerability, therapy, and talking about trauma are essential for building a resilient EMS workforce.4. Invest in Those Coming Behind YouChristy reflects on how Gen 2 providers are paving the way for Gen 3 to feel more comfortable saying, “I need help.” Leadership includes creating a culture where that's not only accepted—but encouraged.5. Redefine What Retirement MeansFor many EMS professionals, retirement brings unexpected emotional challenges. Christy's insight—that we lose the “good stories” that once balanced the bad—highlights a new area of need and advocacy for peer support after the job ends.

Luke Tomlinson (Impropod Podcast) and Ash Farkas return to Flixwatcher to review Luke's choice Elvis. Elvis (2022) is an epic Elvis Presley biopic directed by Baz (Moulin Rouge!) Luhrmann. It stars Austin Bulter as Elvis Presley and Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker. Told from the Colonel's point of view it tells the story of Elvis' rise to fame and peak celebrity status. Filmed in true Baz vision Elvis is loud, gaudy and chaotic version of Elvis' early days and cult icon status. Interesting for a biopic it doesn't feature any original Elvis recordings. Despite not winning the best actor Oscar, Austin Butler gives an impressive performance as Elvis. Scores for Elvis were mixed, recommendability depends on your interest and enthusiasm for Elvis and the divisive Baz Luhrmann aesthetic, clocking in at two hours and 39 minutes it didn't score high for repeat viewing either. Overall Elvis scores 2.75. What does it really take to challenge the status quo in healthcare, and win? Dr. Imamu “Mu” Tomlinson, CEO of Vituity and author of Less Than One Percent: How Disruptors Defy the Odds, joins host Eric Glazer to share hard-won lessons on leadership, resilience, and breaking barriers. In this energizing conversation, Mu discusses: How to turn “you can't” into the fuel that drives innovation. Why being disagreeable, optimistic, and relentless are the core traits of true disruptors. Lessons healthcare can borrow from sports icons like Steph Curry and leaders in entertainment. Why moments of victory - not defeat - are the best opportunities to spark lasting change. You'll come away with a fresh perspective on leadership, culture, and how to build teams that defy expectations and achieve more. About Dr. Imamu (Mu) Tomlinson: Imamu Tomlinson, MD, MBA, is the Chief Executive Officer at Vituity, a physician-led and -owned multispecialty partnership. With decades of clinical leadership and practice management experience, Dr. Tomlinson brings deep operational and clinical knowledge to foster Vituity's mission to be at the heart of better care. In his role, Dr. Tomlinson oversees Vituity's 500+ communities, focusing on clinical and cultural integration, and strategies that improve patient satisfaction and drive operational efficiency. Since his appointment as CEO in 2017, Vituity has doubled its footprint. Additionally, during his tenure, Dr. Tomlinson formalized two disciplines within Vituity to support improved patient care: an innovation team, including the appointment of the organization's first Chief Innovation Officer, and a community impact initiative. He also champions physician engagement initiatives, including fellowship programs and innovation grants, to further empower Vituity's healthcare providers to deliver exceptional care and collaborate across the care continuum. Prior to Vituity, Dr. Tomlinson was the Chief of Staff for the Adventist Health Central Valley Network, where he continues to practice as an emergency physician. He previously served as Medical Director for Adventist Health's Hanford and Selma Emergency Departments. At Adventist Health, he spearheaded an effort to create the network's Department of Emergency and Diagnostic Medicine and later served as the department's chair. Outside of his work at Vituity, Dr. Tomlinson is devoted to making a difference in his local community through the 24/7 Foundation, which works with kids in the Central Valley Youth to inspire mental toughness, athletic competition, and resilience through basketball. Dr. Tomlinson is the author of Less Than One Percent: How Disruptors Defy the Odds. In this book, he thoughtfully explores the lives of those who dare to defy the odds and disrupt a world of contradictions. Through vivid narratives and deep insights, he reveals powerful strategies for challenging the status quo and driving transformative change. Order your copy today. Air Date 7/12/2025 The idea of the founders was to separate and balance the powers of the federal government and that, as Madison wrote, that ambition would counteract ambition. The problem we face now is that the ambition of the Supreme Court is to give as much power as possible to the executive branch because, ironically, they seem to be nostalgic for a king.
