Conor talks with Gary Lindberg about his new biography on Elvis Presley titled Letters from Elvis: Shocking Revelations to His Secret Confidante. Letters from Elvis is an explosive revelation of Elvis’s inner life, an exposé of heinous Hollywood crimes that targeted Elvis, a touching tale of friendship, an eerie ghost story, and a series of startling new Elvis mysteries. Because rigorous copyright laws prevent direct publication of the actual letters, the book also tells the story of the author’s thirty-year struggle to bring this new information about Elvis to light. Liz talks with Amy Hallberg about her memoir German Awakening: Tales from an American Life. A small-town teacher's kid, little sister of a genius, Amy Hallberg dreamed of escape by way of a West German exchange in 1987. The resulting friendship with her exchange sister, Eva, awakened a lifelong quest to understand all things German. She soon discovered the most profound lessons were notes to self, delivered not in German, but in her own mother tongue. Amy is a graduate of Carleton College and the Loft Literary Center's Foreword Apprenticeship in Creative Nonfiction. Write On! Today we’re talking about one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century… Elvis Presley!   One of our goals with Change It Up Radio is to spotlight changemakers. On past shows, we’ve had people who are doing some amazing things in the world, and the man who is the topic of our show today was certainly a major changemaker. He brought a shift to music that we all know about. When we think of Elvis, we think of the gyrating hips, slicked-back hair, beautiful face, and wonderful voice. But, what we all don’t really know much about is what his life was actually like. Gary Lindberg, author of the recently released book Letters from Elvis, has spent 20 years of research and incredible effort putting together this work that explores the depths and truth of Elvis Presley. He joins me today to share how he first came into possession of letters written by Elvis to his spiritual guide and provides some insight into who the “King of Rock and Roll” really was. Certified Master Graphoanalyst and Clinical Psychologist, Jane Hollis, joins us to share her insight and perspective of Elvis, his personality, and his life by applying her handwriting analysis expertise to his letters. She validates that these letters were actually written by Elvis and explains the fascinating things that can be learned and revealed through a person’s handwriting. Adrian Lee, Psychic and Founder of the International Paranormal Society, also joins us to provide some interesting insights that he discovered about Elvis and the events that took place in his life. He shares the spiritual and empathetic personality of Elvis that was never revealed to the public eye and explores the impact of the negative environment and traumatic experiences that he was faced with. We Discuss: The destructive impact of comparing our insides to someone else’s outsides How letters that were written by Elvis to his spiritual guide were first discovered What inspired Gary Lindberg to write this book about the depths and truths of Elvis What handwriting analysis is and what it can tell us about a person and how they think The discomfort that Elvis experienced from living a life unaligned with his beliefs and desires What factors contributed to Elvis’ downward spiral in his later years of life   For the full show notes visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com

Today we’re shining a light on the side of Elvis Presley that very few people know about.  In this show, we explore the life of someone who had such incredible energy and really made a mark on this world. When Elvis came along, nobody had ever created music quite like his before, and he did a lot of amazing things to revolutionize the way that music was. But, image makers were stuck on creating a version of Elvis that wasn’t really true to who he was or what he wanted to portray. They wanted him to project himself into the world as the Elvis we’re all familiar with, sporting the slicked-back hair and gyrating hips. But what happens to a person that’s forced to live an incongruent life and show up inauthentically? Elvis had a lot more to himself than what most of us saw from the outside looking in, and there are things about him and his story that we can all learn from today. Gary Lindberg, author of the new book Letters from Elvis, has spent 30 years of research and incredible effort putting together this work that explores the depths and truth of Elvis Presley. He joins me today to share more about his book that originated from letters written by Elvis to his spiritual guide and provides us with some real insight into who Elvis really was.   We Discuss: What often happens to individuals that are living an incongruent or inauthentic life What made Gary Lindberg decide to do all of the work to bring this book into fruition The relationship and memories that Elvis had with his stepbrother David Stanley How Elvis’ letters were discovered and who the spiritual guide was that he connected with The pain, trauma, and intense frustration that Elvis dealt with in his personal life and career   For the full show notes visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com
