In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I talk about some things we can do to survive the holidays when we are feeling sad and grieving. This episode of Change It Up Radio is the second part of our special Grief and the Holidays series. This subject is very near and dear to my heart because when you're hurting at this time of year, it can be very lonely and agonizing. Grief on its own is difficult enough, but it can really be magnified when the holidays roll around, and everyone else seems to be so happy and festive. If you're grieving a loss of some sort right now, you're likely riddled with memories of fonder times when things felt happier, and you may be thinking, “What on earth do I do now? How do I feel better?” It's hard to imagine that these feelings of sadness and emptiness will ever fade, and celebrating the holidays the same way you have in the past may just not be possible right now. That's okay. Today, I'm going to be talking about my Holiday Survival Checklist and sharing several helpful tips for those who are grieving and going through some kind of heavy emotional pain at this time of year. In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Jeanine Thompson joins me to talk about how practicing stillness can help empower us to answer the call from our soul and unleash our highest potential in all areas of life. It's a noisy world we live in. Stillness, the one thing most high achievers avoid, is one of the most accessible and powerful avenues to fulfilling and redefining what success means to you. When you learn to befriend and anchor yourself in stillness, what once felt overwhelming or foggy can become clear, and your true capacity, needs, joys, and desires for your best life can be revealed and realized. My guest, Jeanine Thompson, a transformational coach, speaker, and author, joins us to talk about how practicing stillness, or “doing nothing,” can help us reach our highest potential. She explains what stillness is, how we can create it in our lives, and how it creates the space to connect with our inner genius. Jeanine also discusses what it means to have a “911” from our soul, and explains that despite outward success, many of us are still filled with restlessness and a yearning for something more in our lives. She shows us this longing isn't a drive toward more achievement, but rather a desire to return home to ourselves. To Learn More About the Show, Visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Gina Worful joins me to talk about how to become a master of your health and the emotions that trigger food cravings and cause a painful cycle of shame and self-sabotage. So many people find themselves wondering, “Why can't I just lose this weight?!” The reality is that losing weight and keeping it off can be quite difficult. Despite what some people in the wellness industry might say, there is no quick fix or magic pill when it comes to weight loss. My guest today, Gina Worful, who is a registered dietitian and master of human nutrition, joins us to talk about her personal struggles with health and learning how to love, understand, and connect with her body on a deeper level. In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Chad Stewart joins me to talk about his fast-paced young adult adventure series, "Britfield," and the importance of creativity and innovation in the education of young people today. My guest today, Chad Stewart, is a prolific writer, producer, creativity specialist, and prominent speaker, as well as the author and creative mind behind the Britfield series. He joins me today to discuss how Britfield engages, stimulates, and inspires young readers to explore and discover their own creativity in a realistic world of adventure and intrigue, and explains why this series is an innovative educational movement in creativity, leadership, and education. Chad, who has an extensive background in investment banking and business consulting, explains that although he often pursued the logical route in his career, he had always been creative and yearned to do something fun and expressive. He shares how one simple sketch that he had doodled during a boring business seminar sparked an idea for a story that took him in a completely different direction in life. Having experienced a discouraging decline in creativity himself, Chad recognized that creativity and critical thinking are sidelined by an educational “cookie-cutter mentality” that rewards the common rather than encouraging the ingenuity needed to succeed and thrive in the modern world. This led him to create The Britfield Institute, which is a not-for-profit that is dedicated to encouraging young people to value learning, providing interactive programs to help students learn to innovate, brainstorm, imagine, problem-solve, and create — skills that will prepare them for the future. While Stewart's approach might sound reminiscent of J.K. Rowling's “Harry Potter” series, he emphasizes that his subject matter differs drastically, drawing upon history and literary models such as Charles Dickens and the Brontë sisters as the inspirations for his fiction. That focus stems in large part from his studies in European history and British literature at Brown University and his journeys in England. With the third book, Britfield & the Return of the Prince, coming out in August 2022, the series is well on its way to becoming a multi-media franchise. Today, we live in a world with social media, cell phones, and the internet, where it's very easy to reconnect with an old friend or check in with someone we may have lost contact with over the years. But, it wasn't always so easy, especially 75 years ago, for two Navy buddies that got separated and were left wondering what happened to their dear friend over the years. My dad, Jack Gutman, and his best friend, Jerry Ackerman, met at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California during World War II, and were instant buddies who were both from New York and had a lot of things in common. They formed a club called "the 3 jays" with another friend, Joe Gagliardi, who had also become a part of their group. Unfortunately, they were all eventually reassigned. Jack and Jerry were assigned to the USS Cullman, a troop transport, and they lost contact with Joe. Jack ended up being transferred to another ship, and that was the end of a very beautiful friendship. For 75 years, they wondered where the other was, how the other was, and if the other was even still alive. They both went about life, going to school, falling in love, and raising their families. Fast forward to 2022, Jack and Jerry, who are now both 96 years old, have finally been reunited, all thanks to Jerry's son, Peter, and a search on Google! In this episode, they reminisce about fond old memories and their fast-growing friendship during World War II, share their individual stories about meeting their wives and building their families, and talk about their plans to meet again in person for the first time in over 7 decades! Jack also shares how his friends Jerry and Joe were both incredibly helpful in his healing journey, even though he never said this to them back then, and he shares that being reunited with Jerry again has served as a form of closure to his post-traumatic stress that he had gone through for 66 years. This is a truly beautiful conversation that you do not want to miss! To Learn More About the Show, Visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com

In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Dr. Rayna Gangi joins me to talk about women in the military, navigating Veteran Affairs, veteran suicide prevention, and how we can all do more to honor veterans for their service. My guest today, Dr. Rayna Gangi, trained as a radio communication engineer and was ready to be one of only a handful of Women Marines deployed to Vietnam. Two days before her embarkment, multiple vaccines paralyzed her from the waist down, and she spent the next several months in the hospital. Rayna fought her way back to mobility and was honorably discharged in 1971. Through her personal experience, Rayna became more aware of other veterans with disabilities when she approached the VA after her disability had returned and she was no longer able to work. Her experience with the VA was not unlike many who have reached out for help, but the most impactful awareness was for the number of veteran suicides, and the numbers were staggering. Rayna has since began counseling veterans suffering with PTSD pro bono. She has been focused on prevention and education so that others can help veterans and so veterans can be honored as they should be for their service. Today, Rayna joins me to talk about the difficulties she faced as a woman navigating the military after enlisting in the U.S. Marines in 1968 during the height of the Vietnam War, sharing the way that she and other women were treated in comparison to their male counterparts. Rayna also shares her struggles with dealing with the VA for disability compensation, and her mission to help prevent and put an end to veteran suicide. In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Dylan Bender joins me to talk about the difficulties that veterans experience when transitioning from the warrior culture of the military and reintegrating back into civilian life after returning home. My guest today, Dylan Bender, is a readjustment therapist with the Veterans Health Administration Vet Centers program who works with active duty, and veterans transitioning back into the civilian life after combat deployment. He has been working in this area for 10 years and has over 20,000 clinical hours in working with combat veterans and their families readjusting after combat. Among the many people that Dylan has worked with, he was my dad's therapist for three years at the VA, which took my dad from a man who suffered with PTSD for 66 years, to someone who's now functioning beautifully with no remnants of those PTSD symptoms. Dylan joins me today to discuss the challenges that military men and women have when transitioning out of the military and reintegrating back into civilian life. He talks about the influence of behavioral and existential conditioning, the three biggest issues that a warrior struggles with after leaving the military, and the impact that war and this transition has on a veteran's mental health. Dylan also explains what reintegration stress is, the many uncertainties that veterans have to grapple with post-deployment, and how all of these factors contribute to the suicide epidemic among military men and women. In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Tony Perez joins me to talk about using golf as a form of rehabilitation for returning combat-injured veterans. Tony Perez, is a Vietnam War Veteran and the Founder/President of Operation Game On (OGO), a golf rehabilitation program for returning combat-injured Veterans suffering from severe physical and mental disabilities sustained in combat while deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Battalion West, Camp Pendleton, to equip and instruct hundreds of injured troops, using golf as a form of mental, emotional, and physical therapy. Today, more than 600 combat-injured Veterans have gone through the program, several of whom have credited OGO for preventing them from committing suicide. Tony provides insight on how golf provides mental and physical rehabilitation which rapidly allows these troops to regain confidence and enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle again. He shares how Operation Game On's program assists injured soldiers through their rehab by simply taking their mind off injuries, surgeries, and doctors, creates a healing social environment amongst the Veterans with newfound lifetime friendships and a sense of community, and gives them hope of a clearer future after their tragic injuries and the traumatic experiences of war. In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I talk about grief, how to support people in emotional pain, and what to avoid saying to someone that's grieving. Today, I want to talk about some of the things that are helpful to say to someone who is dealing with grief, but even more importantly, what things are not at all helpful to say. Sometimes we don't realize that the words we say in an attempt to comfort someone we care about are actually causing more pain, because they were said to us at some point and just feel like the “norm.” Remember, there is a world of grievers out there. We are all going through so much right now, and I guarantee you that if you haven't already, you're going to encounter someone who is dealing with grief. Let's all take the initiative to sharpen our skills and learn how we can be there for others who are in emotional pain by giving them the dignity to feel what they feel without judgment or criticism. With just a little extra effort, we can create a sympathetic and reassuring environment so that those who are grieving can feel safe enough to express their pain, process their feelings, and begin to heal the devastation, fear, and confusion that they are going through. In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Jeff Blanton discusses conscious capitalism, consciousness in the workplace, and how to live and lead with meaning and impact. My guest today, Jeff Blanton, is a recognized leadership consultant, author, and speaker who even after attaining monetary and professional success, came to find himself in a state of “smoldering discontent.” As his career evolved, he could not help but notice that most individuals, from his perspective, seemed to be simply unfulfilled and content to trade their time for money. Over the years, Jeff had come to see the value in having a purpose in one's work and set out to find his own purpose. In doing so, he learned that very few individuals know their foundational purpose and discovered why: it is hard. However, the great news is that, in his search, Jeff not only found his own purpose, but also developed a process for helping others to find theirs as well. Jeff joins us today to talk about the importance of discovering where our strengths, passion, and purpose truly lie, and how we can find the satisfaction we desire by developing a process to go about igniting our passion and purpose within the work we do. He explains how Conscious Capitalism calls for a different type of leadership, and the rewards and challenges of being a conscious leader. Jeff provides insight on how these leaders seek a higher purpose for their business beyond profit that positively impacts all the stakeholders beyond the shareholder – employees, customers, vendors, and the community they work in. He also shares how his Jailbreak Leadership Process helps individuals, teams, and large organizations to clarify who they are and where they do their best work through identifying their personal purpose so that they can lead from the top down with significant meaning and impact. In this episode of Change It Up Radio, April Cargill joins me to talk about helping the homeless and transforming lives through the power of running. My guest today, April Cargill, who is 57 years old and born and raised in Harlem, NY, began running at her local YMCA 10 years ago, after finally kicking her smoking habit of over 36 years. Since then, she has run several official road races, including 11 full marathons (3 of them overseas), 22 half marathons, and countless smaller mileages. April's next endeavor will be running in the 2022 Boston Marathon, which is known as the world's oldest annual marathon, ranking as one of the world's best-known road racing events. The Boston Marathon draws in over 30,000 runners to Massachusetts and is part of the World Marathon Majors which makes it at the top of any runner's bucket list. Not only is April running through eight cities and towns in the 2022 Boston Marathon on April 18th, but she has also been chosen out of many applicants to run for an amazing charity called Back on My Feet (BoMF), an organization that seeks to revolutionize the way society approaches homelessness. This national organization operating in 15 major cities across the U.S. works to combat homelessness through the power of running, community support, and essential employment and housing resources. For individuals in need, they hope to provide an environment that promotes accountability, practical training and employment resources for achieving independence, and a community that offers compassion and hope. April joins us today to discuss how mentally healing running has been for her over the years, proving to help break through some of the struggles and stresses of life. She also shares how her own experience with homelessness when she was very young makes an organization like Back On My Feet hit very close to home and keeps her running and doing what she can to make a difference. In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I talk about standing united in the light and building a positive force field to encourage peace and healing for all. On February 24, 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, causing what has since become the largest military assault on a European state and the largest and most accelerated displacement crisis since World War II. As this crisis in Ukraine continues to spiral into a widespread humanitarian catastrophe, nearly 10 million people have been forced to be uprooted from their homes. Currently, almost 3.5 million people have fled to neighboring countries as refugees. Hundreds of thousands of people have no access to food, water, heat, electricity, medical care, or other basic necessities, houses, schools, hospitals, and roads are being destroyed by ongoing bombs and shelling, and close to 12 million people are estimated to be stranded in Ukraine as violence increases. As these vicious attacks continue, the world bears witness to the deaths and suffering of innocent civilians who remain in Ukraine and endure the dangers of life under siege. Millions of people are in desperate need of immediate aid and support, and the people of Ukraine are suffering unfathomable loss on every level. This is producing grief on a huge level worldwide because it is not just the Ukrainian people who are grieving, but also all of us who are watching this nightmarish tragedy unfold. There is collective grief happening across the world right now, and as a grief expert, I could not simply sit back and ignore it. What I want to talk about today does not come from a political perspective, but really from my perspective as a grief specialist. In this episode, I talk about peace and healing, building a positive force field rather than focusing solely on our fear and outrage, and how miracles are possible when we stand united and committed to spreading the light. In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I am joined by Claudine Van Gonka to talk about the nationwide blood crisis in the U.S. and the importance of donating blood. We all know how much the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the world as a whole, but there are so many individual consequences that have stemmed from these difficult times. One of these consequences is that the U.S. is currently facing its worst blood shortage in over a decade due to the pandemic fueling a decline in blood drives and overall blood donations across the nation. With this national blood crisis, the San Diego Blood Bank, and blood banks across the country, are experiencing a major decline in donor turnout. These collection challenges have disrupted blood supply, resulting in alarmingly low inventories of blood products for the community. My guest, Claudine Van Gonka, the Director of Community Relations and Marketing for the San Diego Blood Bank, joins me today to discuss the current national blood shortage, how this crisis evolved, and what we can do about it. She explains the importance of keeping blood drives going, making appointments to donate, and doing so on a regular basis if and when eligible. Claudine also provides information about who is and isn't eligible to donate blood, along with how the donation process works and what to expect. In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I am joined by Amy Scruggs to talk about shifting our focus on what could go right instead of what could go wrong when pursuing our dreams. A question that many of us stop and ask ourselves before taking a chance or making a big change in life is, A question that many of us stop and ask ourselves before taking a chance or making a big change in life is, “What if it all goes wrong?” We, humans, are hardwired to focus on the negative, and our worried minds consider all of the possible undesirable outcomes, weighing them against the positives. Then, we find ourselves wondering if taking that new job, starting that new relationship, or chasing our dreams is actually worth the effort. Sure, all of these things could end up leaving us feeling hurt, jaded, frustrated, or disappointed. But, there's no way to know for sure what will work out or help us truly flourish in life if we aren't willing to try. What we really need to stop and ask ourselves is, “What if it all goes right?” What if it all works out? What if your whole life could change in the most beautiful way imaginable because you were willing to go out on a limb and trust that even though you could fall, there's a chance that you might fly? My guest, Amy Scruggs, is not only an inspiring and multi-talented human being, but she is also a prime example of someone who has never given up on their dreams, despite how much time has passed or the struggles and obstacles that she faced. Amy has spent twenty years as a TV host, recording artist, public speaker, corporate spokesperson, and business executive, and credits each successful new endeavor in her life to the willingness to shift when hit with the unexpected and the courage to ask for what she wants in life without the fear of receiving a “no.” Amy joins me today to share how her new song, "What If It All Goes Right," evolved, what it's all about, and why its message is something that the world really needs right now. She talks about how this dream EP project, which was 18 years in the making, was able to finally come to fruition with a team of world-class musicians in Nashville during the pandemic. Amy also discusses the importance of chasing your dreams and having the patience to keep pushing through, pursuing, and seeing where it takes you because it's never too late to follow your passions. In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I am joined by Ellen McCarty to talk about transforming our lives and our relationships through unconditional self-love. Earlier this week, many people celebrated Valentine's Day with a loved one. And while most people consider this special day of the year one based solely on romantic love, I like to think that Valentine's Day is also about the love of family, friends, and of ourselves as well. Love is a multifaceted concept that expands far beyond the feelings we may have for just a significant other, and it really is the magic of life. Yet, almost all of us struggle with love to some degree. Some days we think it's our worst enemy, and other days it's our greatest blessing of all. Some of us don't feel worthy of love from ourselves or others, or we subconsciously sabotage our relationship with ourselves through negative self-talk, a lack of self-acceptance, and resistance to healing old wounds. So, what do we need in order for love to work, and what needs to be present for love to grow and expand into all it can be? My guest today, Ellen McCarty, joins me to discuss the components of a great relationship, how we can make love last, and why being gentler with ourselves and practicing unconditional self-love can empower us, transform the way we live our lives, and also significantly impact the way we love and communicate with others. She explains how unconditional self-love helps us to remain grounded, live our best life, and make the world a better place. To Learn More About the Show, Visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com
In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I am joined by Dr. Francis Palmer to talk about tapping into the fountain of youth and some natural approaches to anti-aging from the inside out. Understanding how to age well and increasing the time that we spend in a healthy state while we're here on this planet is of the utmost importance. While our chronological age counts how many years we've been alive, it's our biological age that matters most to help determine the length of health span, or amount of time we will maintain good health as we continue to age. Longevity scientists say that significantly elongating life without sustaining well-being is pointless, and enhancing vitality as we age may be our most valuable health gain. My guest today, Francis Palmer, MD, is a world-renowned, board-certified facial plastic surgeon and author of “What's Your Number?” who for the last several years has been focused on educating and helping others fight the aging process from the inside out. More than three decades of his career have been dedicated to helping people look younger by altering outside appearances, but Dr. Palmer says there's a more sustainable way to feel and look younger by reducing your biological age. And the best part? No surgery is required! In this interview, we take a deep dive into the difference between chronological age and biological age, which number is more important, and what type of test we can take to determine our biological age. Dr. Palmer explains what causes cells to age faster and increase biological age prematurely, what role diet, exercise, and stress can play in all of this, and what CaAKG (calcium alpha-ketoglutarate) is and why our bodies need it. He also shares new cutting-edge research that shows how a particular supplement can help increase health span, postpone frailty, and decrease biological age by eight years in approximately seven months. In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I am joined by Kimberlee Marsh to discuss how astrology can guide us, give us hope, and lead us on the path to self-acceptance. My guest today, Kimberlee Marsh, is an Astrologer, Life Coach, and Business Coach who has been giving personalized readings for over 20 years and helping others to live their life to their fullest potential. She joins me today to discuss how the power of astrology gives us the timing and windows in our lives to forge forward, make positive changes, stay hopeful and tuned in to ourselves, and know where it's best to put our energy. She explains that even though there is chaos going on all around us, there is order to it, and it's all a part of the bigger picture. Kimberlee shares that we are on our way to creating a bigger, better, more sustainable way of supporting humanity, but that with that comes plenty of discomforts as we bring to the surface all that needs to change in order to lay down the foundation for our future. In this episode of Change It Up Radio, I am joined by a very special guest who just so happens to also be my nephew, Patrick Gutman. He is a classically trained composer and pianist who writes Film, Concert, Ambient and Meditative music. Patrick's music has been performed both in the states and in Europe, including Italy, France, and Switzerland. With musical interests that include classical, film, rock, ambient, dance, and electronic music, Patrick often blends these sound worlds together to create genre-expanding music. As a pianist, Patrick has performed throughout Southern California as an accompanist, solo artist, and recording session player, and has won several piano competitions as well. In this interview, we discuss Patrick's journey with music and when he first realized that it was something that lit him up and that he felt he was being called toward. Patrick talks about the power of music and how it can uplift the soul, heal us on an emotional, vibrational, energetic, and physical level, and help us access the fullness of who we are. We also discuss the importance of learning to trust the flow of life, test the waters, and follow what truly lights us up rather than getting stuck on the details or held back by our self-doubts. Patrick shares how when we are able to let go, give ourselves the room to expand, and let the joy and the fun of following what lights us up guide us, we open ourselves to wonderful things that are far beyond what we could ever have imagined for ourselves. In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Dr. Joseph Pergolizzi joins me to talk about unexplained aches and pain, plus effective ways to target and alleviate both chronic and acute pain. Muscle pain is a major medical problem for 60-85% of the population who report experiencing nonspecific back pain of muscular origin at some time in their lifetime. My guest today, Joseph Pergolizzi, MD, is an internationally renowned pain specialist, well-versed in multiple issues confronting people experiencing acute and chronic pain, and has certainly been in high demand since the coronavirus has made its rounds. But viral infections are only one reason you could be experiencing muscle aches and pain. Other common causes include overexertion and trauma to the body. However, it's the lesser-known causes of muscle pain that people may be unaware of and could confuse with symptoms of a virus. In this episode, Dr. Pergolizzi shares four surprising sources of lesser-known muscle pain, and three easy do-it-yourself remedies to address these types of muscle pain at home that don't involve taking pain pills or seeing a doctor. He also discusses the difference between acute and chronic pain, why some viruses cause muscle pain, the increase in patients reporting and experiencing pain since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, when and how pain medications should be used, and when it's time to see a doctor about muscle pain. In this episode of Change It Up Radio, we're talking about tuning in to what lights us up so that we can make 2022 an amazing year where our dreams come true. We are now a week into 2022, and it's undoubtedly a great time to set our sights on doing things differently than we ever have before. Or, perhaps taking a look at how we can tweak some of the things in our lives to make them better and even more effective. There is so much opportunity amidst the fresh energy of a brand new year, but so often, we don't follow our bliss or step into what lights us up. We think we can't do what we truly want because it's not practical or it won't pay the bills. Even worse, we get so stuck on figuring out 'the how' behind what we want, which only pushes us further and further off course from where we'd like to be. The theme for our Fall season was Resiliency, and now as we move into a brand new year, I want to talk about our new theme: Light - being open to the light, enlightening ourselves, and lightening up. In this episode, I'm also going to talk about why New Year's resolutions can cause us to focus on failure more than success, and why a New Year Reset can be a much healthier and more positive approach to staying in alignment with our desires and making 2022 our best year yet! In this episode of Change It Up Radio, we're talking about how to end the year powerfully and productively, in a way that creates openness and clears the path for us to welcome positive energy and brand-new possibilities. It's that magical time… the beginning of a New Year! This is a time that fills us all with the hope that new, bigger, better things are possible and that maybe this will be the year when our dreams really do come true. Before you start celebrating this New Year's Eve, I want to share how you can take a little bit of time to consciously end this year and think about what you want to create in the new one. I learned some incredible principles in a Conscious Completion seminar that I did with JJ Joshua earlier this month that I found very helpful, because consciously completing events, experiences, and periods of time in your life truly enables you to enter into the next space of time clean and clear and open to what it has to offer you. Conscious completion keeps your energy from becoming stuck and closed, and it prevents you from missing the moment and being too focused on past hurts. It allows bitterness, resentment, and regret to dissolve and creates space for joy, love, and gratitude. And best of all, it's so simple! In this episode, I'm going to talk about two principles on which conscious completion is based, why it's important to consciously complete this year (as well as any experience, relationship, day, etc.), and what simple processes you can do now to joyously thrive and end this year in the most positive way possible. Remember, whatever amount of time you invest in these processes and principles will return great dividends. Get started today, don't wait until "tomorrow." Your life is happening now, and now is the moment to start creating it the way you want it to be. After all, it's a New Year, full of possibilities! In this episode of Change It Up Radio, Mikki Kristola joins me to talk about easy-to-make craft cocktails with an innovative and modern twist. I think most of us can appreciate the experience of sipping on a delicious cocktail. But making them ourselves... well, that just sounds like a lot of work! From trying to find a great recipe to recreate, to collecting all of the ingredients you need just to make a specific drink, the process can be a bit overwhelming. The good news is, you don't need to be a mixologist or have access to a loaded bar to make delicious craft cocktails at home! There is no longer a need to purchase pricey bar equipment, run to the store for more drink mixers, or weigh and measure out a list of ingredients. The future of classic cocktails that you can make and take anywhere is here. Dry cocktails, that is! My guest today, Mikki Kristola, is a bar industry veteran with 20+ years of experience under her belt, and the Founder and (human) magic behind New Fashioned. She joins me in this interview to share how New Fashioned Dry Cocktails takes real fruits and spices and transforms them into powdered, portable blends in single-serve packets, inspired by classic cocktail recipes such as the margarita and old-fashioned. In this episode of Change It Up Radio, we're talking about how to handle the holidays when you're dealing with loss or emotional pain, plus how we can support and comfort those who are hurting during this time of year. It's that time of year again where there is lots of excitement in the air with all of the Fall and Winter holidays that have been recently celebrated and are fast approaching. While it's a joyful time of year for many, it's also a very difficult, demanding, and draining time for those who are dealing with the weight of a loss or any type of emotional pain. Unfortunately, these individuals often feel alienated and maybe even defective, because everyone else around them looks so happy while they feel like they can barely get through the day. Furthermore, this is our second holiday season amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and a lot of people are also feeling incredibly burnt out, disappointed, frustrated, and distraught because of the changes and losses that they've experienced. In this episode, I'm going to talk about why the holiday season, in particular, is such a tricky time for people who are hurting, the importance of nurturing ourselves and doing less or doing things differently when we're feeling overwhelmed and emotionally exhausted, and five steps for having successful, comforting, and supportive conversations with those who are hurting during this holiday season.
