This Michael Crichton adaptation -- from the director of Die Hard -- could have been a surprise hit back in 1998, but all sorts of delays, unhappy producers, and annoyed test audiences conspired to help sink the movie once it finally hit theaters in 1999. But of all the movies I've covered on this podcast, this one might be the most staunchly defended... by people who follow me on twitter. Big thanks to my guest Gordon McAlpin (@gmcalpin), creator of the very amusing web series Multiplex 10. Thanks for listening to Overhated! There are 100+ more episodes at patreon.com/scottEweinberg. This week Jesse and Kevin Talk about farts. (Recorded on May 2, 2017.) Links Kevin and Jesse drink, and complain, about Austin Eastcider's blood orange cider. Too sweet. Lots of fart talk in the opening of the show. Kevin got a new Twitter avatar from Gordon McAlpin. Jesse made, and promptly abandoned a Mastodon account. Kevin has been learning Python the hard way. Git codin'! Twine is a tool Kevin used to make a short game. Kevin enjoyed the splendor of America's health care system because of his partner's herniated disc. Be like Jesse and cry while reading this article about bullet wounds. House Hunters is fake. But Tiny House is very real. Continental is a documentary about the Continental, a gay bath house in New York. The worst bike crash Jesse has ever seen was at Red Hook Crit Brooklyn 2016.

Gordon McAlpin - creator of the webcomic Multiplex - fills in for Bean this week to discuss tech and movies: Xbox drops an update to convert Microsoft points to standard currency; Steve Balmer retires as CEO of Microsoft; Kickstarter announces that it’s launching in Australia and New Zealand in the not too distant future; Ben Affleck gets cast as Batman in the upcoming Batman/Superman flick, but is that really going to be the biggest issue with that movie?; and we take a look at Jobs the biopic of Steve Jobs’ life that doesn’t necessarily live up to real life. Meanwhile, Gordon bemoans poor movie logic like the clichéd line ”off the charts”, and Jelly posits that The Last Airbender is the worst movie ever made. Also, Batfleck, you guys!
Episode 30 - Jason and Dan welcome guest Gordon McAlpin, writer and artist of Multiplex, to talk about George Lucas's first film THX 1138. - For more info, check out http://www.stormfrontpros.com
