Nintendo all but throws in the towel, and looks to make sweeping changes to survive; new trailers for Captain America: the Winter Soldier and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 arrive along with the Superbowl; the X-Men producer eyes Channing Tatum for a Gambit solo film; and we discuss recent casting news for Batman vs. Superman including Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Meanwhile, Jelly suggests using a hair straightener to tie Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in to the MCU in a deeper way, and Bean cries enlightened tears when Jelly explains the improvements to the Captain America trailer with explosions.

Marvel announces some information about the future of a character on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.; rumours surface that Pixar might end up doing an animated Star Wars movie; the second Maleficent trailer is released; the BBC reveals Peter Capaldi’s Doctor Who costume; and iiNet submits a paper about the issues with the way the NBN is being approached. Meanwhile, Bean provides his thoughts on Frozen, and the boys discuss the impending end of the show.

ABC promises a strong finish for this season of Agents of Shield; the script for Star Wars: Episode VII is finished, and here come the casting rumours; Batman vs. Superman is pushed back by a year to 2016; a new issue comes to light where Chrome extensions are purchased from the original developer and turned into a source for malware; and Pixar presents a new technology for creating stylised CG animation. Meanwhile, Branden suggests a casting option for Mon Mothma in Star Wars: Episode VII, and Jelly drops an astonishing, series-changing bombshell at the very end of the episode.

Season 3 of Sherlock comes and goes, and we’re left wondering when we’ll get more; EA announces that they’re going to add an offline mode to Simcity; an interview reveals that Nintendo doesn’t research it’s competitor’s products at all; Google buys Nest for $3.2 billion; Michael Douglas surprises everyone by joining the cast of Ant Man; and rumors surface that Johnny Depp might be playing Marvel’s Dr. Strange. Meanwhile, Bean makes a prediction about Google’s next acquisition and Jelly questions everything he knows about the origins of the main villain of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Lightning reviews for this season’s holiday movies: Enders Game, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and Frozen; Disney shifts the rights for Star Wars comics to Marvel; a Snapchat vulnerability is revealed, and it would appear they’ve known about it for months; and Facebook starts using your private messages as support for things you link to. Meanwhile, Jelly boasts about his new years resolution skills and the boys say “ilk” a lot. What is that about?

This summer, engage your ears as you listen to the second Jelly and Bean holiday special, discussing movies to look forward to (and some to be kinda apathetic about) in 2014. From Need for Speed to Muppets: Most Wanted, the boys cover what’s known about a selection on movies coming up in 2014, and give an advanced rating based on what they know. Meanwhile, Jelly uncovers the secret plot details for a Breaking Bad movie, and Bean adds a fourth member to his list of actors that should be in every movie.

The boys discuss the original trilogy of Star Wars, including its place in pop culture and science fiction history, its influence on the generation that grew up with it, and the special effects and how they’ve changed the films over the years. Plus, Machete order and how the prequels could’ve been improved with some more interesting writing techniques. Meanwhile, the boys insult both Star Wars and Star Trek fans, and choose their favourite film in the trilogy. Also, Jelly continues to insist that he doesn’t like Star Wars. SACRILEGE!

Doctor Who celebrates its 50th anniversary with the special episode, The Day of the Doctor, and the dramatisation of the show’s beginnings in An Adventure in Space and Time; Google applies for a patent to generate tweets on your behalf, further cementing their place as creepiest company ever; and the Xbox One hits stores worldwide, garnering over a million sales. Meanwhile, the boys have an idea for a spinoff for the Doctor Who universe, and Bean once again projects his love of My Little Pony. Also, Jelly explains his very strange use of capitalisation.

The BBC release a prequel minisode online in preparation for the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special this weekend; the first two episodes for the new series, Almost Human, featuring Karl Urban and Michael Ealy; the Playstation 4 launches to 1 million sales in the US alone, but it’s not all good news, as some of the consoles experience the ‘blue light of death’; and LG invades their customer’s privacy by transmitting data from their smart TVs. Meanwhile, Jelly hopes for an appearance by John DiMaggio in Almost Human, and Bean finds out about the 8th Doctor.

A basic overview of Jelly’s experiences with both Windows 8.1 and the latest Retina Macbook Pro; details drop for new Marvel shows featuring Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist; and the release date for Star Wars VII is announced. Meanwhile, the boys have thoughts on the casting for Luke Cage, and Jelly puts forward a reason to get behind and support the Jessica Jones show. Also, the boys discuss bad Christian movies in the post-credits sequence.

Ubisoft plans to drop online passes for their entire catalogue of games; Adobe is hacked, revealing their terrible encryption and publicising the passwords of 150 million of their customers; the next trailer for The Lego Movie drops; and Thor: The Dark World arrives in theatres. Meanwhile Bean plays Assassin’s Creed, which gives Jelly nothing but pleasure, and Jelly does the world’s worst drunk impresson. Also, the boys have way too much fun with Thor puns.

Star Wars shuffles its writers, leaving the script in the capable hands of J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan; the first trailers drop for Captain America: The Winter Soldier and X-Men: Days of Future Past, giving us our first peek into what the movies themselves are going to be like; the high concept Phonebloks system hits the internet promising a future where phones are completely customisable, including the hardware; and Amazon rolls out it’s Kindle Matchbook program. Meanwhile the boys discuss their expectations for Thor: The Dark World, and Jelly admits what he’s really going to see in that film. Also, Bean pretty much makes no bad jokes. None! What is this world coming to?

A trailer drops for the 50th Anniversary Doctor Who Special, featuring lots of little hidden gems for you to find; Apple releases OS X Mavericks and new Macbook Pros, and announces the Mac Pro and iPad lineup at it’s October event; and Microsoft launches Windows 8.1, which is pretty much what Windows 8 should’ve been in the first place. Meanwhile, the boys discuss selling kidneys for tech products and Jelly finds the perfect gift for Bean this Christmas.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. gets a full season order which spells good news for the other four shows Marvel has committed to; Apple announces an event on 22 October, and there’s little information on what we’ll see (but we’re hoping for iPads, Mavericks and new Macs); Google creepifies it’s advertising by linking your Google+ recommendations and reviews to ads; New York Comic Con tweets from attendees’ twitter accounts without their permission; and the BBC discover long lost episodes of Doctor Who in Nigeria of all places. Meanwhile, Bean pitches his idea for a Marvel TV show staring, you guessed it, Don Cheadle, David Hewlett and Karl Urban, and Jelly talks a lot. Like a lot, you guys.

EA announces that it’s “looking into” offline mode for SimCity, and announces the first expansion pack, Cities of the Future featuring maglev trains… and drugs; Samsung announces the Galaxy Gear and the Galaxy Round, and they rip off Apple’s original iPhone ad in the process; and Nest announces the Nest Protect, a smart smoke and CO alarm that talks and responds to motion. Meanwhile, Bean reveals the third member of his “top three actors that should be in everything” list, and Jelly raves about home automation; Also, neither of the boys listen to anything the other is saying.

The ABC confirms that Doctor Who will air in Australia at the same time as the UK; Valve announces the Steam Controller, which is not like any controller you’ve seen before, but can a Steam console even succeed; Warner Brothers and Fox team up to bring us a TV show about Gotham City… without Batman; and now that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has aired, does this new show from Whedon and Co. have any potential? Meanwhile, Jelly compares game consoles to phones and Bean presents a concept for the Gotham TV series.

Grand Theft Auto V makes $800 million on it’s first day of release; Apple sells 9 million iPhones on the launch weekend and a 35% device share for iOS7 within the first day; TouchID, the fingerprint system on the iPhone 5s, gets hacked within a week of the phone being released; iOS7 has a bug that allows you to access photos and contacts without unlocking the screen; Valve announces SteamOS and the Steam Machine, as an effort to bring their gaming system to the living room; Pixar announces that The Good Dinosaur and Finding Dory are being delayed by a year; and Google decides to clean up the Youtube comments system by tying comments to your Google+ account. Meanwhile Bean comes up with a more secure method of data and message transfer and Jelly “spoils” Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for Bean, leading to the boys deciding how to treat the pilot for their own TV series. Also, Bean moves his obsession from My Little Pony to pictures of Jelly in a dress. That guy gets weirder every day.

It looks like everyone wants to get in on the logo redesigns, as Bing announces their new look; Steam borrows the dead-in-the-water Xbox feature, Family Sharing; a quiet update to Apple’s App Store allows users to download older versions of Apps that are compatible with their iOS version; Riddick hits Australian cinemas and Jelly’s hoping it’s good, or at least better than Chronicles of Riddick; Roland Emmerich announces his plans to reboot Stargate; and Warner Brothers and J.K. Rowling announce a spinoff to the Harry Potter franchise, based on a textbook from within the series’ universe. Meanwhile, Jelly defends the Brony lifestyle choice and Bean uncovers the twist ending to the Harry Potter spinoff film. Also, the boys consider rebranding to be like all the big tech companies.

The BBC reveals some details about the upcoming Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special; Ellen Page expresses interest in doing a Kitty Pryde solo movie; Sony announces the Vita TV microconsole; and Apple announces two new iPhones, the 5c and the 5s, surprising no one. Meanwhile, Bean proposes an idea for a great new X-Men movie with two Wolverines, and Jelly gets cynical about Apple. Also, the boys try to figure out how Adventure Time and Doctor Who fit together.

Jelly’s thoughts on Jobs; Marvel announces that James Spader will be playing Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron; the Coalition announces it’s plans to filter the internet if it wins the election this Saturday; Microsoft buys the Nokia devices and services division; and as Apple’s announcement of the next iPhone looms, what are we likely to see announced? Meanwhile, the boys attempt to add mystery by obfuscating the details of a topic, and Jelly rants about the government sticking their hands where they don’t belong. Also, Bean decides that what this show really needs is a goodbye song like some of the kids shows we used to watch. Gordon McAlpin - creator of the webcomic Multiplex - fills in for Bean this week to discuss tech and movies: Xbox drops an update to convert Microsoft points to standard currency; Steve Balmer “retires” as CEO of Microsoft; Kickstarter announces that it’s launching in Australia and New Zealand in the not too distant future; Ben Affleck gets cast as Batman in the upcoming Batman/Superman flick, but is that really going to be the biggest issue with that movie?; and we take a look at Jobs the biopic of Steve Jobs’ life that doesn’t necessarily live up to real life. Meanwhile, Gordon bemoans poor movie logic like the clichéd line “”off the charts””, and Jelly posits that The Last Airbender is the worst movie ever made. Also, Batfleck, you guys!

Everybody loves a crossover, so Katie Molloy, co-host of Silver Screen Queens visits to talk about all the things: videos that help breakdown the NBN plans; rumours surface that Bradley Cooper is up for Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy; and Kick-Ass 2 hits Australian cinemas, but is it as good as the first movie? Meanwhile, Katie laments the lack of female superhero movies while Jelly laments the fact that David Tennant is probably not going to be in Guardians of the Galaxy after all. Also, Bean settles into his new house and is surprisingly quiet through the entire episode. Honestly it’s like he wasn’t even there…

What if Star Wars episodes I and II were actually good; the role Vin Diesel will be playing in the Marvel movies gets revealed; some details surface about the upcoming original Pixar movies: The Good Dinosaur and Inside Out; Microsoft decides to include a headset with the Xbox console, and also makes some changes to their policy to allow sharing of Xbox Live Gold subscriptions; Meanwhile, Jelly gives a micro review of the most recent Tomb Raider, and Bean refuses to make a fool of himself on air. Also, the boys take a moment to reminisce about how cool phones were before the iPhone came along.

Saints Row IV finally passes classification, but in the worst possible way; a new Ender’s Game trailer drops, and it’s not really selling it very well; the BBC announces that Peter Capaldi is the new Doctor; Disney and ABC are looking at creating a live action Star Wars TV show, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. holds the keys to it’s success; a new technology aims to improve the speed of data transferred across copper lines; and more TV shows coming up in the next few months: The Tomorrow People, Helix, Dads, The Michael J. Fox Show and Mind Games. Meanwhile, Jelly decides that the worst fate that can befall a movie is to simply be “meh”, and Bean wishes he was famous enough that people introduced him with the phrase “from such movies as”.

Grand Theft Auto V makes it through the Australian classification board with an R18+ rating; the Australian government releases 10 recommendations from the Australian Tax inquiry; we look as some of the new TV shows coming in the next few months: Axe Cop, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Almost Human and Intelligence; and The Wolverine hits Australian cinemas. Meanwhile, Jelly claims that he’s the heart throb of Jelly and Bean and Bean claims the brains and the sense of humour. Also, the boys discuss Hugh Jackman’s shirtless body. OH MY.

San Diego Comic Con is over for another year and it seems that the new thing is for celebrities to cosplay so they can roam the exhibition floor; Marvel confirms what we know about Guardians of the Galaxy; Warner Bros announces the sequel to Man of Steel, which is going to feature Batman, but not as we’ve seen him before; new details are announced about Avengers 2, including the title, Avengers: Age of Ultron; X-Men: Days of Future Past comes out mid-2014; and Disney shows of Aireal, a really cool new haptic feedback technology. Meanwhile, Jelly laments over the lack of a Black Widow solo movie, and Bean considers the fatal possibilities of haptic technology in the wrong hands. Also, the boys discuss the questions that are on the Geek Citizenship Test. You know, that test.

Microsoft confuses everyone by backtracking on Xbox policies… again; Dreamworks releases the teaser trailer for How to Train Your Dragon 2; Pacific Rim, Guillermo del Toro’s big budget sci-fi flick, hits Australian cinemas; one of the co-founders of Pirate Bay teams up to start Heml.is, a truly secure messaging app for iPhone and Android; and the boys present some tips to help you make the best of your convention experience, just in time for San Diego Comic Con! Meanwhile, Bean admits to not hiving seen the How to Train Your Dragon and Jelly whines about Microsoft not knowing what they’re doing. Also, the boys take stock as they realise that next year is going to be a great year for movies… hopefully.

We get “confirmations” on who the villains that Benecio del Toro, Lee Pace and Karen Gillan are playing in Guardians of the Galaxy; Entertainment Weekly reveals what the villain Electro is going to look like in Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Andrew Garfield talks about his dream casting of the MJ character; a recent Russian rocket launch goes awry thanks to an upside-down part; and Google decides to shut down more services in favour of Google+. Meanwhile, Bean goes to the supermarket to buy beans and Jelly comes up with his own super villain concept. Also, Bean claims the bad joke department all to himself, leaving Jelly to be the… straight man? He’s a terrible straight man.

Google Reader shuts down, with multiple services popping up to fill the void; the Xbox One is going to be able to read QR codes; a “Low Violence Version” of Saints Row surfaces on Steam; Neil Gaiman is returning to his popular Sandman comic series; a 15-year-old participant in Google’s science fair invents a torch powered by human body heat; and Ars Technica takes a look at the true worth of consoles when their costs are adjusted for inflation. Meanwhile, Jelly replaces Google Reader by simply having Bean read the news to him, causing Bean to consider charging a premium for the service. Also the boys fight over whether it’s more correct to say torch or flashlight, or if it’s math or maths.

Microsoft reverses some of their controversial Xbox One policies and reveals that the console will be region free; Saints Row IV gets refused classification in Australia; rumours surface that Vin Diesel is in talks with Marvel for an upcoming movie role; Sydney plays host to the annual popular culture convention, Supernova; and Jelly gives his thoughts and ratings on Monsters University and Man of Steel. Meanwhile, Jelly reminisces on what a terrible idea it is to give Data emotions, and Bean considers what a movie about Professor X would be like if it starred Vin Diesel. Also, Jelly gets schooled by Bean on how to do a good segue.

Man of Steel dropped and subsequently had the best June opening weekend ever; Google announces Project Loon, a crazy idea to provide internet via wifi hotspots using balloons; Adobe releases a big update for Creative Cloud, converting it’s products into subscription software in the process; and the first teaser trailer for The Lego Movie drops. Meanwhile, the Jelly starts planning his Project Loon rival, and Bean discovers who the Australian version of Don Cheadle is. Also, the boys contemplate what makes a movie Australian.

Guardians of the Galaxy is probably part of the lead up to Marvel’s Phase 3; Apple announces iOS 7, OS X Mavericks and a new Mac Pro at this year’s WWDC; and E3 sees the announcement of new games for the Wii U, as well as more details about both the Xbox One and the Playstation 4. Meanwhile, Jelly laments over how much money the Mac Pro is likely to be, and Bean clarifies the entire reason he co-hosts the show. Also, the two agree that maybe the new Mac Pro should get to be the “RocketBox”.

Podcasting is under threat from a patent troll, and you can help defend it; Karen Gillan and Benicio Del Toro both join the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy; Matt Smith announces that he’s leaving Doctor Who and the world goes into a casting frenzy; Arrested Development returns with a new season of the beloved show; and DC’s Fables is heading to the movies. Meanwhile, Bean tries his best to cast Don Cheadle as the Twelfth Doctor and Jelly gives his thoughts after having watched the new Arrested Development through one and a bit times. Also, the boys come up with a new TV show starring the antics of Bean and Don Cheadle, with Jelly featuring as the quirky neighbour. Sounds just like this show, really.

News and rumours spread about the used game situations on the Xbox One and the PS4; the boys discuss the potential for having a single ecosystem of devices that all work together; Gillette releases several celebrities’ theories about how Superman shaves (because of the beard in the latest trailers for Man of Steel) and the boys take the opportunity to come up with their own theory. Meanwhile, Jelly considers what the world would be like if either Apple, Google or Microsoft bought other the others, and Bean celebrates his newly granted Permanent Residency. Also, the boys agree that you can either do one thing well, or you can do many things kinda amateurish, and they know, because that’s how they do it on Jelly and Bean.

ABC picks up Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD and drops a trailer proving Agent Coulson is still alive and kicking butts; a new game is announced for Adventure Time and it’s coming to all of the major consoles; Yahoo! buys Tumblr for $1.1 billion cash; and Microsoft announces the Xbox One. Meanwhile, Jelly decides that Yahoo! should be pronounced as “Yahoo exclamation point”, while Bean decides that Tumblr should now be called Yumblr. Also, the boys discuss a different kind of opening for the show (with explosions!) now that the standard one seems boring after last week’s Star Trek special.

Star Trek Into Darkness hits Australian cinemas and the boys take the opportunity to dedicate an entire episode to pulling it apart and comparing it to the original series of Star Trek from the 1960s. Meanwhile, the boys try to determine the difference between Star Fleet and a military, and Bean laments the lack of Michael Dorn as a Klingon. Also, Jelly announces his love of DeForrest Kelley’s portrayal of Bones, complete with the excessive eye makeup and his tendency to go super-Southern under pressure (or when really relaxed). Meanwhile, the boys come up with a brilliant new superhero movie for Ben Kingsley to star in, Bean tells all the bad jokes and Jelly gives us insight into who his favourite Doctor is (and why, maybe?).

Microsoft makes Skype available as part of Outlook.com; a new trailer for Pacific Rim drops at WonderCon that gives us new insights into the movie; IMAX announces that it’s getting into private theatre installations; a new video is released that demonstrates the full potential of Microsoft’s Illumiroom tech; Google Glass is rooted, and turned into a surveillance system, with some serious privacy consequences. Meanwhile, Jelly tells us all about his favourite number (and his favourite words), and Bean works on his dramatic movie trailer voice. Microsoft announces the announcement date for the next generation Xbox; NBNCo announces gigabit plans that will drop around December; Razer accidentally offer 90% off and then honour it; the first trailer for Thor 2 hits the internet; and Iron Man 3 is released in Australia. Meanwhile, Jelly forgets the name of the guy who played Col. Rhodes in the first Iron Man (it was Terrance Howard), while Bean talks about how much he dislikes Natalie Portman. EA shifts blame for the lack of offline play in Simcity onto Maxis; BBC announces the return of David Tennant and Billie Piper for the 50th Anniversary special of Doctor Who; Disney shuts down LucasArts and two Star Wars games along with it; the original screenplay for “The Star Wars” gets the graphic novel treatment from Dark Horse; a sweet little throwback trailer for Star Trek: the Video Game is released; and Tell Tale releases Poker Night 2. Meanwhile, the boys discuss Branden’s opinions on Amy and the Doctor’s companions in general, and Jelly talks at length about Star Wars even though he claims to not really care for it that much. Privacy given as a reason for Google Reader’s demise, BBC drops a Doctor Who prequel for ‘The Bells of Saint John’, a new TV spot for Iron Man 3 introduces a new development that’s a really nice surprise, a trailer finally surfaces for The Wolverine, an Australian store starts charges $5 for “just looking”, Yahoo buys iOS app Summly for $30M and Microsoft pre-empts disgruntled victims of a privacy breach by giving them Microsoft Points. Meanwhile, the memory lapses begin early and the boys both use computers to do basic mathematics. Also, Jelly geeks out over the new Iron Man TV spot, Bean reminisces about the only part of the original Wolverine movie that he remembers and they both struggle to comprehend paying to enter a shop.

Doctor Who coming to ABC on 31 March, videos surface that proves Simcity can be played offline (with a little modification), Steam announces that it’s releasing a HD version of Age of Empires II, footage leaks showing a new Star Wars FPS, Samsung hosts what is possibly the weirdest - and worst - product announcement ever, and the US Supreme Court rules in favour of grey market textbook importing. Meanwhile, Jelly admits that maybe he’s getting a little antsy to be able to play the new SimCity, and Bean struggles to move on from David Tennant’s Doctor. Also, Jelly tries his best not to mention Apple while talking about Samsung’s Galaxy S4 launch, but fails. That and more astounding things this week on Jelly and Bean!

Simcity continues having problems, Google Reader gets tossed out in Google’s latest spring cleaning, Veronica Mars kickstarter campaign launches, and succeeds within 10 hours, Microsoft gets slapped with a huge fine for accidentally not offering users a choice of browser in Europe, and Apple joins Amazon in applying for patents to resell digital content. Meanwhile, BEES! Also, Jelly feels good about not having purchased the new Simcity, while Bean plugs GOG again for being awesome and having Simcity 2000 on the cheap. Two original cast members join the new Star Wars film, Quickflix announces it’s intentions for streaming content negotiations, a new Simcity is released, the Australian government’s inquiry into IT pricing, and the latest Iron Man 3 trailer. Meanwhile, Alex Morris (@beardedferret) joins the boys for a special guest appearance, Jelly forgets all the things and Bean talks about shipping digital goods from the US in imaginary boxes. Also, the boys struggle to pronounce “colloquially”. This might just be the best episode of Jelly and Bean yet!

System Shock 2 becomes available on GOG.com and a new copyright association (made from the unholy combination of the MPAA, the RIAA and several american ISPs) begins a six strikes solution for piracy. Meanwhile the boys find GOG and Jelly rants about torrents and piracy and the best solution to both. Also, the boys declare their love of GOG and Bean wonders whether all the religious jokes will get them smitten.

Disney announces solo Star Wars films for young Han Solo and Boba Fett, Google Glass and the future of wearable computing, Google’s plans to open retail stores, and the details from the announcement of the Playstation 4, including their plans for implementing streaming technology and new (and sometimes creepy) social additions. Meanwhile, Jelly accidentally discovers a new way to do the show intro, and mimics one of the speakers from the Playstation keynote. Also, the boys plan to play Playstation 4 while recording an episode. NOTHING WILL STOP THEM!

Blackberry losing businesses, the Surface Pro selling out and whether it’s a legitimate claim, Facebook hacks their own system to improve security, speculation on whether Apple is going to produce an iWatch, and rumours about the next-gen Playstation and Xbox consoles. Meanwhile, Jelly takes a nap, and the boys announce the winners of the t-shirt giveaway from episode 11. Because t-shirts! Also Bean tries out a new segue, much to the dismay of Jelly. There’s no rest for Jelly and Bean!

A Star Wars movie featuring Yoda, the possibility of Portal and Half Life movies from Bad Robot (J.J. Abrams), the Superbowl ads, GoDaddy’s awful advertising, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the dramatic retelling of the origin of Doctor Who (the show, not the character) and the controversy surrounding CNET having it’s product reviews interfered with by it’s parent company, CBS.
