The SVU squad takes on the Jussie Smollett case! After a slew of attacks on black gay men in Hell's KItchen, the case catches a break. Musician Mathis Brooke is attacked and willing to speak with the detectives. Mathis' story is similar to the other attacks but some of his details are just a little off. His decision to come out prompts other victims to speak up leading the squad to our perp. New Deputy Chief Garland goes undercover and brings down the attacker. Eventually, Carisi convinces the attacker to take a deal. In the end, Fin talks to Mathis and hopes that he figures his life out. Curtis Armstrong guest stars. On The After Show, Hosts Yael Tygiel (@yaeltygiel), Isabelle Du (@isabelle.du), and Taylor Gates (@elphaba_anne) discuss season 21 episode 3, "Down Low in Hell's Kitchen." Mathis is terrible at lineups, the new captain has some serious pull at the gay bar, and Noah just wants to dance. From 2009: This is a “Hell’s Kitchen” interview that I didn’t expect to do until the end of this, the show’s fifth season on Fox. Joining me today is Giovanni, the steakhouse chef from Destin, Florida, who looked like he could go all the way with Chef Gordon Ramsay, until a flame out in last night’s episode. Joining me this morning is Giovanni, the tenth contestant to whom Chef Gordon Ramsay has uttered the fateful words: “Take off your jacket.”
From 2009: Chef Lacey somehow managed to avoid elimination week after week. No disrepect to the young lady, but she appeared out of her element . In a series known for a cruel streak, did the producers keep her in the game for comic relief? Last week, Chef Gordon Ramsay had had enough and he tossed Lacey before the elimination round. Joining me this morning is Lacey, the latest contestant to whom Chef Gordon Ramsay has uttered the fateful words: “Take off your jacket.”
From 2009: Lacey will join me on Mr Media in a special show on Monday, March 30, so let’s focus on last night’s officially eliminated chef, L.A. It is never fun being in Ramsay’s line of sight and if you are different in any way, like the neighborhood bully, he will always hone in on that characteristic—he referred to LA as a "silly cow." Joining me is L.A., the eighth contestant to whom Chef Gordon Ramsay has uttered the fateful words: “Take off your jacket.”
From 2009: Hell’s Kitchen is one of those reality cooking shows that, while you’re watching it, you’re wondering: “What were they thinking?” I love the show and haven’t missed many episodes over its five seasons to date. It’s a total train wreck—and who can’t resist peeking at one of those? Joining me this morning is Charlie, the third contestant to whom Chef Gordon Ramsay has uttered the fateful words: “Take off your jacket.”
From 2009: "Hell’s Kitchen" is addictive fun, partly for the presence of Chef Gordon Ramsey, but mostly for the clueless ineptitude of so many of the contestants. And some, of course, are trained professionals but just unprepared to perform in the heat of Ramsey’s TV kitchen. Joining me this morning is Colleen, who runs a cooking school, but nonetheless is the fifth contestant to whom Chef Gordon Ramsay has uttered the fateful words: “Take off your jacket.”
From 2009: I look forward to speaking with the latest eliminated chefs on “Hell’s Kitchen,” which airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on Fox. If you haven’t sampled the show yet, do get a taste. It’s delicious nonsense! Joining me this morning is J, the seventh contestant to whom Chef Gordon Ramsay has uttered the fateful words: “Take off your jacket.”
From 2009: Danny made it to the final two on Hell’s Kitchen and tonight, it’s just him, Paula, and Chef Gordon Ramsay. Oh, and a few million people watching at home. Including Mr. Media. Joining me is Danny, one of the two final contestants vying to take charge of a new restaurant at the Borgata casino in Atlantic City.
The Virtual Lounge is open... Nick Gelso here. Our long-time listeners may remember that Beats and Eats started as a celebrity musician podcast (the "beats") and a celebrity chef podcast (the "eats"). With the popularity of our episode with Hell's Kitchen Chef Chad, we decided to continue to venture back into the foodie realms by meeting other former HK15 chefs. Beats and Eats has a proud tradition of celebrating fine food and the chefs that create it. We are proud to say that we were even nominated for a national Stitcher/Deezer award for Best Food and Wine Podcast of 2013. We lost to Alton Brown- I can honestly say that we are not embarrassed to tell people we lost to the celebrity chef. As with any show or concept, over time it's personality evolves. Though we still talk food on occasion, "BNE" has really ventured into more of the celebrity interviews and trending topics genres. In 2015, we partnered up with the ECP Charters, celebrity vacation, The 80's Cruise and, thus our subjects dove even deeper into the retro, celebrity interview genre. We will still be bringing you the best in current and retro guests but, we do intend to bring you the occasional chef again as well. Anyway, today we venture back into the "virtual kitchen" in a fashion reminiscent of our show topics from 2012-13. We welcome Hell's Kitchen Season 15 Chef, Hassan (follow on Facebook here or Twitter here). Chef Hassan opens up about his experience on HK, his early dismissal (you may be surprised by his reaction and his current projects. Outspoken as ever, Hassan also strongly defends Chef Frank from HK15- you won't want to miss this! As usual, Ty Ray asks the tough questions as he requests Chef Hassan's opinions on fellow contestants and how contestants are portrayed by shows such as Hell's Kitchen. The trio also discuss the renaissance of the dining scene is Hassan's home city of Detroit. If you're a Hell's Kitchen or Celebrity Chef Junkie, this truly is the episode for you.
