THE BETTER BELLY PODCAST - Gut Health Transformation Strategies for a Better Belly, Brain, and Body
Have you ever wondered - what is the best food sensitivity test out there?Or - why are there so many tests, and how can you tell which one of the best? Back in 2021, I wrote my first podcast episode on food sensitivity tests, Episode 59// How to Choose the Best Food Sensitivity Test for You. At the time, I had NO exposure or knowledge about the food sensitivity test I'm going to be sharing with you today, so I didn't mention it at ALL. But, if I were to re-do that episode, I would HANDS DOWN have highlighted the special and unique food sensitivity test we're going to talk about today - and I would have NEVER ordered another MRT test. It is likely a food sensitivity test you've NEVER heard of (many of my clients have never heard of it before), but it is far superior to any other food sensitivity test I've come across before. To help explain exactly how and why this test is so much better than Viome, MRT, TinyHealth, or any other food sensitivity test I've looked at, I'm having on Adair Anderson, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and representative of Vibrant Wellness. Adair holds a bachelor's degree in biochemistry, a master's degree in clinical nutrition, and today, she is going to tell you all about my personal favorite food sensitivity test - the Food Zoomers. Vibrant Wellness offers a myriad of lab tests, from Lyme testing to comprehensive gut health testing, but the lab I order the most from them is their food sensitivity test. As you'll learn about on today's episode, the Food Zoomer tests your body for food sensitivities in a way that is completely different than almost every other lab out there. Whether you're a food sensitivity test veteran with dozens under your belt (and an equal amount of confusion caused by them) or you haven't yet done your first test yet - this episode is guaranteed to enlighten you and give you insight into the capacities and limitations of food sensitivity tests, and explain why doing a Food Zoomer is likely your best bet to getting SUPER clear on what foods you should and shouldn't eat to heal your gut. *Disclaimer: by having this episode out, I am NOT suggesting that you only need to eat the right food to heal. Food is, at most, only 20% of the equation to fully healing your gut. If you aren't familiar with the fact that food alone isn't enough to heal you (and what the rest of the 80% of the equation is), go to betterbellytherapies.com/training or click the link in the shownotes to get my free, full training. Don't wait for fatty liver symptoms to address your liver health! Find out what to eat for a fatty liver and discover the #1 superfood for liver health that can remove fat from the liver naturally. NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease) is being changed to MASH (metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis), which essentially means a fatty liver with inflammation. Doctors treat this condition with medications and never truly address the root cause.NAFLD is often blamed on “too much nutrition”, but what does this mean? It's not simply over-nutrition that causes a fatty liver. It's the overconsumption of sugar, starches, and seed oils. Industrial sugars like high-fructose corn syrup are especially problematic for the liver.Fatty liver symptoms include fatigue, pain or discomfort in the right upper quadrant, cognitive problems, yellow skin, hot and itchy feet, and extra weight around the midsection. The medical field has used observational studies to claim that red meat, organ meats, liver, and eggs cause a fatty liver. However, observational studies can not determine causation! Research has shown that if you go on a low-carb, ketogenic diet, you can decrease 50% of the fat from your liver in a matter of weeks! To improve liver health and remove fat from the liver naturally, add the following liver detox foods to your diet:1. Grass-fed red meat offers high-quality protein with vital nutrients such as zinc, copper, and CoQ10. It also supports healthy blood sugar levels. 2. Eggs have zero carbs and are a rich source of choline, which helps protect you from developing a fatty liver.3. Cruciferous vegetables, especially when fermented, help the liver with detoxification and also help to remove fat. 4. Wild-caught salmon and other wild-caught fatty fish are a very nutritious source of protein and are high in omega-3 fatty acids, which reduce liver inflammation. 5. Broccoli sprouts contain sulforaphane, which has potent anti-cancer properties and helps detoxify the liver. They can also decrease A1C to stabilize blood sugar. 6. The #1 food for liver health is grass-fed liver! Beef and lamb liver are low-carb, high in choline, nutrient-dense, and contain many trace minerals, vital in reducing liver fat and inflammation. If you want glowing, youthful skin, you must work from the inside out. Discover one of the best anti-aging foods for your skin to add to your diet today! 0:00 Introduction: How to look younger 1:46 The best anti-aging food4:27 Collagen and anti-aging4:52 The best anti-aging diet Is your beauty routine actually aging you? The creams and lotions you think are helping your skin could have plastics, toxic chemicals, and hidden carcinogens. Even the products containing collagen will not be absorbed topically through the skin.Over-cleansing and excess scrubbing destroy your skin's microbiome. Tap water contains fluoride and chlorine, which are toxic and damaging to the skin. A filter for your shower can help.Statins can also destroy youthful skin. They block cholesterol, which is essential for skin health and integrity. The FDA does not do third-party testing on the chemicals in your anti-aging products. The EU has banned 1600 cosmetic ingredients, while the US has only banned 30. The best anti-aging food is high in retinol, an essential building block for connective tissue and vital for the skin's immune function. This anti-aging food contains copper and zinc, which support skin elasticity and healing. It's loaded with iron, and a single serving has more anti-wrinkle and anti-aging benefits than many expensive creams. If you haven't guessed, grass-fed liver is the #1 anti-aging superfood! Grass-fed liver contains every cofactor and nutrient necessary for healthy, youthful skin. Some people don't enjoy eating liver, and if you have preexisting liver damage, you may feel tired after eating it. If this happens, try taking one beef liver capsule before bed. Soaking liver in lemon juice can improve its taste. Many good recipes also make it more palatable. Liver pâté, grass-fed liver pills, and blending liver with ground beef can also help mask the flavor. If you consume collagen, you need many cofactors to penetrate the skin. Liver provides all of them!Ultraprocessed foods will make you look older! Low-fat diets can also have an aging effect on the skin. Low-fat protein and poor quality protein will help you lose weight, but won't help you look younger. Aspirin helps prevent heart attacks by thinning the blood and reducing clot formation. A blood clot causes 80% of all heart attacks and strokes. While Aspirin has helped people, it does come with side effects and may not be for everyone. Surprisingly, 50% of all heart attacks occur between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., likely due to higher levels of cortisol in the morning. Both cortisol and adrenaline can increase clotting.EPA, an omega-3 fatty acid, acts as a natural blood thinner without the negative side effects. Research has shown that EPA can thin the blood comparably to low-dose Aspirin. EPA can stabilize vulnerable arterial plaquing by decreasing inflammation. One 2019 study found that people who consumed EPA experienced a significant decrease in plaquing, decreased inflammation, and decreased cardiovascular events. It can also positively affect your mood by reducing cortisol and adrenaline. EPA helps prevent blocked arteries by making your platelets less sticky. Salmon, mackerel, fatty fish, and fish oil contain EPA, but there's a better source! Cod liver oil or cod liver is the best food to unclog your arteries naturally. Along with EPA, cod liver oil contains vitamins A and D. The active form of vitamin A, retinol, helps to repair the body's internal tissues. It's also a potent anti-inflammatory and can help decrease atherosclerotic plaquing. In one study, out of 1000 compounds, vitamin D was the most effective at preventing damage to the internal layer of the arteries. Vitamin D increases nitric oxide and the stiffness of the arteries. It's a potent anti-inflammatory, stabilizes plaque, prevents rupture, and decreases arterial calcification.
