Recipe - Pistachio Shortbread Cookies Dipped in White Chocolate: 2 sticks of butter, room temp 1/2 cup granulated sugar 2 cups GF all-purpose flour 1 cup pistachios, chopped & without shells 4oz white chocolate (for dipping) Add the sugar and beat together with the butter. Just beat until combined and no more, we don't want to incorporate any air here. Add the flour and mix until it starts to form clumps and looks like large chunky breadcrumbs. Ditch the spoon and use your hands to bring it together into a smooth dough. Roughly chop the pistachios and add ⅔ of them into the shortbread dough. Reserve the other third of them to sprinkle on top later. Use your hands to knead the pistachios into the dough so they are evenly dispersed. Don't overwork the dough. Shape the dough into a log shape, and chill in the fridge for an hour. Bake on a cookie sheet with parchment paper for 12-18 mins at 350 degrees. While they're baking, melt the white chocolate and then dip the cookies about half way once they're cooled. Immediately sprinkle with the leftover pistachios you reserved earlier. Let them set (about 5-10 mins), and enjoy! Be sure to leave us a review and share with your friends. Thank you for listening!
Watch the best scene reading: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-wbuMLmLCQ Get to know the writer: What is your screenplay about? White Chocolate is about a female detective who, along with her male partner, has to solve the killing of a high school basketball prodigy in Yonkers, New York (near New York City). Detective Erika Gonzalez is a single mom and the daughter of a cop killed in the line of duty. Her son's father, who proved unfaithful during their relationship, has been recently released from prison. The story focuses on Erika's resilience in the face of personal and professional challenges, as well as the unwanted attention that comes to an attractive woman who simply wants to do her job. What genres does your screenplay fall under? Drama, Crime, Sports. Why should this screenplay be made into a movie? Erika is a character who faces so many challenges in a male-dominated profession and is constantly being tested, which makes her someone worth rooting for. Also, the basketball prodigy represents the hopes and dreams of many in a city not noted for producing famous people. Many in the community live vicariously through him, making his killing difficult for them to process. Fingers are pointed in many different directions. There's a whodunit element to the story. Those who may be able to identify the killer before the detectives may be intrigued by the lengths to which the killer tries to avoid accountability. How many stories have you written? Two screenplays. The other is Iceman, which is about a Black hockey trailblazer in the 1995-96 National Hockey League season.I'm also the author of four books: Breaking the Ice: The Black Experience in Professional Hockey (Insomniac Press, Toronto), the first book that told the unique stories of Black players in hockey; Call the Yankees My Daddy: Reflections on Baseball, Race, and Family; Charging the Net: A History of Blacks in Tennis from Althea Gibson and Arthur to the Williams Sisters; and Different Strokes: Serena, Venus, and the Unfinished Black Tennis Revolution. My books reside at the intersection of sports and sociology. I used to cover the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes for The News & Observer in Raleigh and the New York Rangers for Newsday in New York. The lead character in Iceman is based on Black NHL players I wrote about in Breaking the Ice. Rob and Rob are back for the Friday bonus show, with starts with everyone dumping on MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred for proposing the “Golden At-Bat” rule at the Winter Meetings, because we just don’t like it. That spins into the rule about having a runner at second base at the start of every inning in extra innings. Rob also fields a listener question about why the Spurs-Mavericks Game 7 in the 2006 Western Conference Semifinals made the Prime show about “Best Game 7’s” and Rob says he HATES that game because it’s the game that cost him a ring after Manu Ginobili fouled Dirk Nowitzki. We also dive into the story about Steve Spagnuolo’s wife giving the one player on the Chiefs defense with the best hit a full Italian dinner, and what incentives Rob received in his day. And while he didn’t have a lot of incentives in the way of food, he did have some cash incentives with coaches and players that made him a few bucks in the day. And Bobby wants to know if NBA teams got together for post-game meals after the Christmas games, to which Rob answers that it only happened when they were on the road. That spins us off into a conversation about what Rob likes to cook, and how he graduated up to cook the Thanksgiving turkey this year. White Chocolate also said this week that NBA Christmas is better than NFL Thanksgiving, and Rob jokes that he used to love NFL on Thanksgiving until they forced us to watch the terrible Cowboys this year! And a debate breaks out after we decide to CUT one player between Devin Booker, Donvan Mitchell, Anthony Edwards and Jaylen Brown. Yep, it's time for BM. The top rated Monday morning podcast in a land far away. This week, Luke kicks us into gear right away with our usual introduction and in the hot seat this week is Renee, back for her third visit making her our number one fan! Renee even brought delicious soda pop for everyone and they were not gross flavors like turkey or catsup. Edward likes to put KitKat bars into his soda pop, Renee thinks white chocolate is very over rated and Katie has some major grievances to air which results in her second ever phony phone call - this time to a popular pizza chain. Katie is also super mad at the news again, Edward and Renee make up funny voices for their dogs (and have a T. Swift corner), Luke serenades his former dog with made up songs and Edward made us a game! Come see how collectively stupid we are trying to name the provinces of Canada, the names of the Care Bears and the justices of the Supreme Court. Should a caesar salad have bread in it? Delve into the realms of science with us as we name all of the celestial bodies in our own solar system. Johnny Cage is there too! Follow the show on Instagram @bubbmush and email us at bubbmush@gmail.com - don't forget to recruit one new listener this week - tell them about Belgium Guy and how much he loves the show! This week on Thoughts Off The Stem. In the Stundenglass is a cured resin from 1964 called Orange juice. A sativa with loads of flavour. This weeks pre rolls are BC Doobies, White Chocolate. Another solid sativa. It has a flavour I can't put my finger on. With Tyler off at band practice. Justin went on a bit of a random rant about the state of society and his perception of the human race's inability to socially interact. Apparently we spend to much time being guarded and withdrawn rather than embracing the human element. Supposedly we've become so reliable on technology that the lines of socially acceptable interaction have become blurred. To the point where we take offence at the attempt for communication and interaction. Any way you get the point. This seshisode is pretty close to a crazy old man, arms raised, neck red, eyes beady, cheeks tight, long winded, hot air blowing, senile, out of touch, grump, ranting about how he doesn't fit into society in his decrepit old age. To be fair he does admit his wrong doing in this hypothesis of humanity. The question really being asked is... Was it really that weird? Hope you enjoy the Sesh! A great honor to have actor, teacher, father, stand-up and improv comedian, Matt Higgins (@matthigginsnyc) on #NoSuggestionPod this week. Matt is part of the legendary team, the team I consider the greatest improv team on Earth, Centralia (@centralia_improv). Centralia is the inspiration for the name of this podcast, because famously they do not take a suggestion from the audience. Matt is the second member of Centralia we've had on this podcast. Guest co-host Aston Hollins (@astonhollins) and I had a great time hanging with him at Radio Free Brooklyn Studios! We chatted with Matt about his growing up in Philly, how Matt got started in comedy, NYC in the 1990's, zodiacs, Steve Winwood and more! And for sure we got a bunch of funny improv comedy scenes in, including a scene about a rowdy, contentious beach party. It was a real honor and delight to have Matt on the show. We just know you'll be delighted by this episode. If you are, please rate and subscribe to this podcast. Thank you!

In 2006, while pregnant with her first son, Chef Nicole Patel made a batch of chocolate truffles as last-minute holiday gifts. To the delight of her friends and family, truffle-making became an enjoyable pastime for Nicole that relieved the stress of her corporate engineering job. In 2008, a serendipitous trip to the Texas Wine Country led to Nicole being the first person in Texas to make truffles using local wines. Thanks to her dedication and self-taught skills, Delysia Chocolatier quickly rose to become one of the Best Chocolatiers in the Americas, as recognized by the International Chocolate Salon and Taste TV. Nicole has most recently been named 2023's Best Chocolatier in the Americas with the highest honor, Six Star Award: Grand Master Chocolatier, an impressive designation she has received a total of ten times. Her most recent accolades comprise over 88 awards in total, among which are 20 gold medals and 22 silver medals. Notably, she has demonstrated unmatched mastery in the Spicy Chocolate, Hot Chocolate, Ruby Chocolate, and White Chocolate competition categories. Nicole now pairs the process efficiency skills from her Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees from Texas A&M University with unbound creativity in the kitchen to keep Delysia successfully moving forward. Nicole never could have imagined how her experience working at a Fortune 100 company as a supply chain, quality, and business process improvement expert would prime her for distributing her own products across the country. Nicole lives in Austin, Texas with her husband Rahul and their two sons, Sébastien and Colin. In this episode we discuss: How Nicole made the transition from a corporate career to chocolatier Juggling her day job with her chocolate business sideline The construction challenges of opening a brick-and-mortar business How she cultivates partnerships with other food artisans The big pivot: promoting virtual chocolate tastings during the pandemic How Nicole develops and maintains her corporate gift giving accounts Nicole's top tips for cleaning chocolate molds And much more! Episode Sponsored by Dobla - IRCA We know pastry chefs are busy. Ordering from Dobla and IRCA means not having to make everything from scratch, and instead spending time assembling final products for sale. It means getting more products in one place, which cuts down on the time spent browsing catalogs, placing orders and visiting with sales representatives. That means you spend less time focused on the business and more time on the thing you love: creating succulent sweets and savories that will keep your customers coming back for seconds. When you talk about 1990s NBA nostalgia, sure, you think about Jordan's Bulls, Ewing's Knicks, Reggie's Pacers, The Dream Team, and Shaq and Penny's Orlando Magic. But the memories don't stop there. Because at the tail end of the decade, a cult icon emerged. And that transformative figure -- a skinny white point guard from West Virginia lauded for his flair and swagger on the court -- joins Ariel Helwani on today's program. The guys discuss: Why he believes the 2022-23 Sacramento Kings are better than the early 2000s Kings he played for (4:21) His cult icon status and why fans look back on his career so fondly (6:30) If he was comfortable serving as an inspiration for white children in America (20:00) The origins of his unforgettable nickname (21:17) Why he dislikes modern NBA trends like load management and the play-in tournament (28:05) What he would tell his younger self (33:50) Plus, Williams talks about rookie hazing he experienced, the one current NBA player who most closely resembles his game, and how YOU could play a round of golf with him! Jason Williams played in the NBA from 1998 - 2011. Drafted with the 7th overall pick by the Sacramento Kings in 1998, "White Chocolate" also played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Orlando Magic, and Miami Heat, where he won a championship alongside Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O'Neal in 2006. Chris and Rob explain why Aaron Judge should be not considered the new Home Run King if he ends up hitting 62+ homers this season, discuss whether or not Jon Gruden should ever be allowed to lead an NFL franchise in the wake of the misogynistic and homophobic e-mails that cost him his job with the Las Vegas Raiders last year, and take ‘White Chocolate' Jason Williams to task for suggesting that Michael Jordan wouldn't be as great of a scorer if he played in today's NBA.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
