The guys are joined by Cape Cod Times sportswriter and lifelong comics enthusiast Matt Goisman, who gives his view of what makes a worthwhile sports movie before they all jump into the main event. BLACK PANTHER (13:15), Ryan Coogler's mighty impressive statement on the long-term effects of colonialism that asks if it is possible for utopia to exist, should it? And oh yeah, it's a superhero movie to boot. With amazing visuals, rich performances, and thoughtful subtext wrapped in an entertaining package, BLACK PANTHER is one to see whether you're into Marvel movies or not.

Bill traveled to the local newspaper, the Cape Cod Times to sit down with Matt Goisman and Jon Mettus, who host a podcast called the Cape League Corner. They tell us why any baseball fan who is on vacation on Cape Cod this summer should take in a Cape Cod Baseball League game. Affordable family entertainment.

With BATMAN v SUPERMAN around the corner, Matt Goisman and I had way more fun re-watching MAN OF STEEL together for the Bizzlecast than either of us did by ourselves. MAN OF STEEL has an exciting if occasionally derivative visual style, courtesy of Zack Snyder. Still, some humorless and cliched dialogue bring down even some of the cooler scenes of the movie, which at times can look spectacular. This is supposed to be the foundation of a DC “cinematic universe” designed to rival Marvel Studios. The central question with BvS will be whether or not MAN OF STEEL accomplished this. Henry Cavill and Amy Adams have very good chemistry, and if BvS is as successful as DC/Warner Bros hopes, this relationship has major potential down the line. We made it to 30!!!! The Bizzle is thrilled to celebrate this landmark by sitting down with fellow Wesleyan alum and current professional sports reporter Matt Goisman ’05 to discuss 'Star Trek,' its relationship to 'Star Wars,’ and the cultural relevance of their unique visions of the future (past?). But as so often happens when two masters of nerdiness have a chat, the conversation quickly morphed into a discussion of just about every scifi/fantasy occurrence from Asimov to the Avengers. Currently a sports reporter in New England, Matt Goisman wrote an extremely interesting thesis at Wesleyan where he looked at the characteristics of traditional Jewish heroes, specifically Moses, Jacob, the Talmudic rabbis and Hershel of Ostropol. Matt’s thesis looked at whether or not the Golem and modern superheroes could be described as traditional Jewish heroes or represented a redefinition of Jewish heroism more appropriate to a setting that had shifted from Eastern Europe to 20th century America.
