March 7, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 101 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers getting ILB Cole Holcomb to agree to a cut in pay to stay on the roster. As a byproduct of Holcomb's contract being reduced, Alex and I have a meaningful debate about what that might mean when it comes to the Steelers potentially re-signing ILB Elandon Roberts, who is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent still. There is more news to report when it comes to the offseason wide receiver movement around the NFL, so Alex and I recap the latest for that position group and how it relates to the Steelers. We go over Seattle Seahawks WR DK Metcalf now being available on the trade market and the Jacksonville Jaguars trading WR Christian Kirk to the Houston Texans on Thursday. We also discuss the Seahawks cutting WR Tyler Lockett. Alex and I rank the likely-to-be-available wide receivers for the Steelers to choose from these next few weeks. The Las Vegas Raiders have now signed DE Maxx Crosby to a lucrative contract extension so Alex and I discuss that transaction and the impact it could have on the Steelers signing OLB T.J. Watt to an extension this offseason. We also go over what J.J. Watt said on The Pat McAfee Show about his brother's contract situation on Thursday. The Steelers had three pre-draft visitors in town on Thursday, so Alex and I go over those three players, one of which being Louisville QB Tyler Shough. We discuss whether the Steelers are likely to bring in more quarterbacks for pre-draft visits in the coming weeks. Alex has released his free agent wish list for defensive players ahead of the new league year getting underway, so we make sure to review his selections later in the show. With the NFL's legal tampering period set to begin on Monday, Alex and I give our final thoughts, hopes, and things we will be watching for next week when it comes to the Steelers. The Steelers have restructured the contract of Cole Holcomb, which means Elandon Roberts could be the man walking free. So, after allowing 300 yards rushing in a playoff loss, the Steelers are letting their best run stuffer walk in free agency. Roberts will also be a cheap get, so the hope is that he is not done with the Steelers. The Steelers are highlighting the leadership qualities from Holcomb even though Roberts showed plenty of that with the black & gold.

In this episode, Joseph Holcomb Adams joins to discuss the important topic of guruism and cult dynamics in psychedelic communities. Joseph is an ethicist who specializes in issues related to psychedelics, altered states, and transformative experiences. In this conversation, Joseph introduces the concepts of a guru, guruism, and cult dynamics. He describes the social-psychological mechanisms behind the devotee-guru relationship and the development of ideological conformity in cults, explaining how the heightened states induced by psychedelics can contribute to these dynamics if participants and facilitators are not aware of these dangers and vigilant in guarding against them. Joseph explains that psychedelic experiences can lead to “experiential verification,” where the participant's sense of the facilitator as a wise spiritual guide can seem to be confirmed through the intense mystical nature of the experience, which in turn can feed into a guru-disciple power dynamic where the participant feels reliant on the facilitator for their healing. In closing, Joseph focuses on the profound importance of education on these topics. The case revolves around a $495 million verdict awarded to Margo Gill, representing her daughter Robynn Davis, who suffered catastrophic injuries from necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) after being fed Similac Special Care 24 formula by Abbott Labs.    Remember to rate and review GTP in iTunes: Click Here to Rate and Review   Case Details: Margo Gill's premature infant daughter, Robynn Davis, was born on August 26, 2021, at SSM St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Shortly after birth, doctors transferred Robynn to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, where she was fed Similac cow's milk-based formula, manufactured by Abbott Laboratories. After consuming these products, Robynn developed necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), a life-threatening gastrointestinal disease that primarily affects premature infants. As a result of NEC, Robynn required extensive surgery and now faces long-term health complications. The complaint alleged that Abbott Laboratories, along with sales representatives Matthew McClure and Tara Todd, aggressively marketed their cow's milk-based formula as safe for premature infants, despite being aware that it significantly increased the risk of NEC. It also claims Abbott failed to provide adequate warnings about the risks of NEC. Additionally, Abbott falsely promoted their formula as essential for the growth and development of preterm infants. STORY 2: Woman Convicted of Baby's Murder Sentenced to Life with Possible Parole Chloe Alexis Driver, 24, was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of her 13-month-old daughter, Hannah Nicole Driver, in Canton. She will be eligible for parole after 30 years. Driver was found guilty but mentally ill of multiple charges, including malice murder. The crime occurred in December 2020 when Driver stabbed her daughter and herself. Despite a defense of insanity, the jury determined Driver was criminally responsible. The District Attorney highlighted the tragedy and the efforts of first responders. The Georgia Department of Corrections will manage Driver's mental health needs during her incarceration. STORY 3: JoEllen Wilson Earns Canton Rotary Lifetime Achievement Award JoEllen Wilson, a former Canton City Council member, received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rotary Club of Canton. Honored for her leadership and service, Wilson's career spans decades, including roles at Reinhardt University and extensive community involvement. She served six terms on the Canton City Council and held leadership positions in numerous organizations, such as the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club. This exemption, effective January 2025, could result in a $14 million revenue loss due to expanded senior tax exemptions and an additional $7.8 million loss if the board doesn't opt out of the statewide property tax cap. Options include opting out, cutting services, or raising the millage rate. The board aims to maintain school quality and is considering public hearings and budget adjustments to address these financial challenges. STORY 5: Child Care Study Committee Releases Recommendations Georgia lawmakers are focusing on tax credits to make child care more accessible and affordable.
