Cultismo tutto. Siete venuti a giocare con noi al MUSE di Trento, lo scorso weekend? Sì? Fantastico! Commentate qui sotto con entusiasmo e dedizione, grazie. No? Peccato, la fatina delle falangi verrà a trovarvi presto. No, dai, a parte gli scherzi…. Buona ascolto e come sempre… Ci vediamo dall'altra parte!Diventa un supporter di questo podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/dunwich-buyers-club--2814177/support.

We've got ad managers denying Satanic board games, D&D flying into outer space, and *possibly* a Dragon Ball Z board game coming to fruition finally. What a time to be a gamer! We're on vacay right now, so enjoy this pre-recorded episode where we go through a bunch of recent news stories before taking a look inside the new Warhammer 40k box and drooling over what's coming soon.

There are very few official published adventures for Daggerheart, and those are either one-shots or very short. The third party options are also limited. So what is a GM wanting a published adventure to do? In this episode I share how I'm taking adventures from other games and adapting them to Daggerheart. Because Daggerheart's system is relatively simple, it's actually pretty easy to do.Play Daggerheart with Me on Start Playing Games.Sign up for my newsletter.Subscribe via RSS, Apple Podcasts, or Spotify.Check out my sci-fi novel, Critical Balance.Have you read Critical Balance? Welcome to Audio EXP episode 336. This week, we dive into an urgent economic reality facing independent creators: the tabletop AI tax, exploring how community sentiment and public protests are forcing small studios to lose time and money proving their work is human-made. We also report live from Birmingham on a milestone weekend as the 20th anniversary of the UK Games Expo shatters NEC attendance records with over 87,000 visitors, causing local infrastructure and air conditioning to buckle. Plus, we cover the full People's Choice winners, Paizo's brutal 13 Omens playtest, the Savage SLA transition, and our Summerween design deep-dive. About Audio EXP Audio EXP is Geek Native's podcast. Each week, there's some favourite or exciting geeky news, conventions, interviews, and thought pieces. The average length of the podcast is around 10 minutes. What does fleet management look like when your "shop" spans the entire globe? In this episode of the Fleet Success Show, host Marc Canton sits down with Chief Master Sergeant Adam Walker of the U.S. Air Force at the NAFA Institute and Expo 2026. Adam oversees vehicle management operations across 175 Air Force bases, 100,000 vehicles, and 5,500 military and civilian personnel. About Nate HeissNate Heiss is a true game design chameleon. His 25-plus year career spans from competitive Magic: The Gathering play to designing iconic cards like Goblin Guide at Wizards of the Coast. He then took those skills into the AAA video game world, working as a designer and creative director at studios like LucasArts and PopCap on massive mobile hits like Plants vs. Zombies Heroes. Nate and I have been geeking out about game design since we met on the Magic Pro Tour in the late 90s, and now we're finally teaming up on Gundam Assemble, an upcoming tabletop skirmish miniatures game. In this episode, we dive deep into the differences between physical and digital design, the ethics and realities of free-to-play business models, and how to capture the elusive magic of discovery in an internet age. Nate delivers profound insights that will resonate with anyone building games or trying to navigate a creative career.Justin's Ah-Ha! Moments* The Shift From Player to Designer Mindset: Nate and I discuss a classic trap many pro players fall into when they start designing: trying to "beat" the players. It's easy to bring a competitive ego into R&D and focus on squashing dominant strategies to prove how smart you are. But great design isn't about winning; it's about crafting a fun experience. Once you soften that competitive edge, you realize your true goal is to empower players to make their own discoveries.* The Economics of Free-to-Play Dictate Design: We tackle the controversial topic of free-to-play games. Nate points out that companies succeeding in this space aren't necessarily making "better" games; they are mastering live service and content costs. If a studio can "turn the crank" and produce engaging content at a fraction of the cost, they gain a massive competitive advantage. It shifts the design problem from just making an great game (which is table stakes) to efficiently delivering ongoing value over time.* Roguelikes are the Modern Gold Rush: I've always wanted to recreate the feeling of opening an early Magic pack—when nobody knew the optimal strategies and everything felt like an untamed frontier. Nate brilliantly identifies that roguelikes are where this feeling lives today. By taking a core loop and exploding it into a massive, randomized possibility space on every run, roguelikes force players to adapt and experiment, capturing that communal feeling of discovery over and over again. The conversation traces how a simple family dinner‑table idea grew into a fully realized game world, why the team focused on a specific emotional experience for players, and how they shaped Herdvana's visual identity. The group explores the realities of indie manufacturing and distribution, the player feedback that reshaped the game, and the classic titles that influenced Andrew and Thane as designers. They also break down the current state of the indie tabletop scene, why physical games continue to thrive in a digital‑first world, and what advice they'd give to first‑time creators. Capital Creative Showcase brought Sacramento's creative scene together, and this episode captures the energy right from the floor. Frank sits down with four different creators working across video games and tabletop games, giving listeners a closer look at how indie teams build, test, balance, and refine their projects. The episode features Kim from Ghost Hunter Simulator, Sarah from Wizard Cleaning Simulator, Keoni from Seize Gilded Treasures, and Mike from Legends of the Arena. Each conversation highlights a different side of development, from player choice and cozy horror to small-team production, card balance, community building, character design, and why live playtesting matters so much for creators. Timestamps and Topics 00:00 Capital Creative Showcase recap and event overview 01:09 Interview: Kim on Ghost Hunter Simulator and player choice 15:17 Interview: Sarah on Wizard Cleaning Simulator and small-team indie development 24:59 Interview: Keoni on Seize Gilded Treasures, card balance, and community building 41:37 Interview: Mike on Legends of the Arena and building a Smash-inspired tabletop game 52:30 Final thoughts on CCS, playtesting, and Sacramento's creator community Key Takeaways Capital Creative Showcase gave local video game and tabletop developers a space to show their work, gather feedback, and connect directly with players. Ghost Hunter Simulator stands out by letting players decide whether ghosts are real, changing how they interpret evidence and approach the game. Wizard Cleaning Simulator started from a game jam idea and grew into a cozy magical cleaning game built by a small art-focused team. Seize Gilded Treasures blends trading card game mechanics with board movement, creating a strategy layer where positioning matters as much as card text. Legends of the Arena aims to capture the feel of a fast, competitive fighting game in a tabletop format built around reads, anticipation, and quick matches. Across all four interviews, playtesting comes through as one of the biggest tools for improving balance, clarity, pacing, and player experience. Memorable Quotes "If we wanted this game to exist, it had to be us." "Indie games get to be so much more experimental." "We joke that the three of us make one junior programmer." "The difference between this and a lot of other trading card games was the tabletop and the fact that we're able to move." "We lean really heavily into the fighting game idea of reading and anticipation."
