On this week's episode of the 3-on-3 Blazers podcast, we talk about Damian Lillard being out for the next few games, the development of Gary Trent Jr. and Anfernee Simons, whether criticism of CJ McCollum is justified, and make predictions for the next three games. Get more Blazers coverage at kgw.com/blazers The Portland Trail Blazers have had a nice, long break during the NBA's All-Star festivities and now they have 26 games left in the regular season to achieve their goal of making the playoffs. To get there, they'll have to make up some ground with the eighth-place Grizzlies holding a four-game lead in the standings over the Blazers. And they'll have to start that pursuit without their best player. The biggest question for Portland is Damian Lillard's health. Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes reported last Thursday he'd miss a week or two with a strained groin. A couple days ago during a radio interview, head coach Terry Stotts said, "maybe a week, maybe a month." Then on Thursday, KGW's Orlando Sanchez reported that Lillard said he'll likely miss three to five games. The next few games will be a tough stretch for the Blazers without Lillard. The next three games are at home, but they're against the Pelicans, who are 3-0 against Portland this season; the Celtics, one of the best teams in the East; and the Pistons, which gives Portland a chance at a victory. Then a road trip begins against a talented Pacers team with star guard Victor Oladipo back in its lineup. After these four games, the Blazers have an easy schedule down the stretch and two head-to-head matchups at home against the Grizzlies. So there's still hope. But there's so little margin for error right now, losing Lillard even for the next few games could push the Blazers too far back to rally. Nipping on the Blazers' heels are the San Antonio Spurs and New Orleans Pelicans. Both of those teams have easy schedules down the stretch, just like the Blazers, and they're not dealing with the kind of injuries that are plaguing Portland. On this week's episode of the 3-on-3 Blazers podcast, we talk about Damian Lillard being out the next few games, the development of Gary Trent Jr. and Anfernee Simons, whether criticism of CJ McCollum is justified, and make predictions for the next three games.

The NBA's All-Star break is right around the corner and its a 9 day break that several teams can really use as teams including the Celtics will head into the All-Star break battling injuries while trying to fight for playoff positioning. The Celtics and their fans coming fresh off an NBA Trade Deadline where once again Danny Ainge for the 3rd year in a row opted to do nothing and not get the team any help now heads towards the all-star break. However they had 4 games left to go from the Trade Deadline which was just 5 days ago to the All-Star Break which comes this weekend. The Celtics started off the day of the NBA Trade Deadline by signing Center Greg Monroe to a contract and the big man made his debute later that night as the Celtics were in Washington to take on the Wizards. The Celtics with a returning Kyrie Irving and Marcus Morris managed to knock off the Wizards in overtime 110-104 before heading back to Boston for a game the following night against the Pacers. The game against the Pacers did not go well as the Celtics went down by as much as 26 points to a Pacers team that had a 3 day resting break before meeting the Celtics who were playing for the 2nd night in a row. The Celtics did manage to mount a comeback and even take a 2nd half lead before losing it and ultimately losing the game 97-91. 2 nights later the Celtics welcomed Lebron James and a nearly new Cleveland Cavaliers team as the Cavs at the trading deadline sent away nearly half their team to get several younger players to join the squad. The Celtics not only welcomed them but also welcomed several Celtics legends as well as former Celtics players Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo and former Head Coach Doc Rivers for what was Paul Pierces jersey retirement night. The Cavs however ruined the mood in the room by blowing out the Celtics 121-99 in what was the debut for those new players. So we will recap what happened with our guest Rich Conte, Evan Valenti and Chris Langseth

Now that we've put the NBA's All-Star break behind us, it is time to concentrate on the second half of the regular season as teams are gearing up for the playoff push. The Eastern Conference appears to be a two horse race between the Indiana Pacers and the Miami Heat, but will teams such as the Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls emerge as factors? Is this the season the Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant wins his first MVP award. Do the San Antonio Spurs have enough in the tank to make another run at an NBA Championship? What trades can we expect to happen? Who will survive in the Western Conferece? I'll discuss this and more on The 300lbsofsportsknowledge Show!!!!
