The Celtics Talk Radio Crew Review the Celtics 4 game Preseason and look towards opening night. The Celtics Preseason started off with them going 2-0 after they beat the Orlando Magic 98-97 and then the Toronto Raptors 113-111. Then the Celtics would go on to lose their last 2 preseason games first to the Orlando Magic 103-102 and then the preseason finale to the Miami Heat 121-100. Putting them at the final record of 2-2 during the preseason. The Celtics during the preseason lost both Jaylen Brown and Al Horford who were both diagnosed with Covid 19 and had to go into quarantine. Meawhile the Celtics also had an issue with starting guard Marcus Smart as he missed the team flight to Miami which resulted in Celtics coach Ime Udoka suspending Smart for the Heat game even though it was reported he and the other stars werent likely to play in the game. So now the team looks towards the season opener on Wednesday against the New York Knicks. Due to the fact that the main players didnt play in the Miami game it is still a question as to who will Ime Udoka choose to have as his starting 5 outside of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Will Al Horford or Timelord start at Center or will he choose to start them both and let Horford be the PF and Timelord be the C and go with 3 small players rather then going with the way the NBA has kinda been trending which is the 4 small and 1 big lineup? Is Smarts spot in the lineup or any of his minutes in jeopardy with players like Dennis Schroder and Jason Richardson here now? Who will the 2nd lineup consist of? We give our thoughts on those questions in this final before the season edition of Celtics Talk Radio
In just 1 week the Boys in Green will be back as Training Camp for the Boston Celtics will have officially started. However this will not be any ordinary training camp as the Celtics have quite a bit of work to do before their opening night game against the New York Knicks on October 20th. The Celtics players now have to gel with newly hired head coach Ime Udoka. All-Stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown now have to work in all of their new teammates into the pecking order alongside their new head coach based on the type of system the 3 decided is best for the team to have this season. Meanwhile there are several questions that could be answered during training camp. What 5 players will Ime Udoka have for his starting 5 as outside of Tatum and Brown the other 3 spots are pretty much up for grabs? What about the bench will Ime Udoka make a 5 man rotation for the bench and stick to those 5 being the group that plays or will he be more of a 1 player this night 1 player that night type person? What have the Celtics 2 stars done to improve themselves during the offseason we have seen photos showing Jayson Tatum has gained a lot of muscle possibly to bang with some of the bigger players in the league whats his reasoning and is it true? There are many questions that Celtics fans want answered before that October 20 game and we will look to talk about a few of the big questions tonight. Tonight is also the We Bleed Green Celtics Fan Forum Member Ticket Giveaway. Where we will be giving a member of our We Bleed Green group 2 tickets to go see a Boston Celtics preseason game. So expect several Celtics fans to call in as well.
Celtics Nation now knows when and where they will get to see this years Celtics team play and now its time for the Celtics Talk Crew to break down the schedule and give their thoughts on how diffucult of a schedule the league gave our boys in green and the key dates for the Celtics fans to keep an eye out for. The Celtics will open up the season on October 20th in New York against the Knicks. The Celtics will start the season with an 11 game stretch from October 20th to November 10th where only 2 games will feature teams who finished ahead of the Celtics in last years standings. It will be crucial for the Celtics to gel as quickly as possibly in that 11 game stretch as they begin a month and a half stretch on November 12th where they will run a gauntlet facing several of the leagues top teams all the way till the end of the 2021 calender year which could truly put them in a nice spot in the standings if they win most of those games or in bad position if they lose most of them. That month and a half span features 25 games which includes 3 games vs the Bucks, 2 vs the Suns, 2 vs the Clippers, 1 vs the Hawks, 2 vs the Lakers, 1 vs the Nets, 1 vs the Spurs, 1 vs the Raptors, 2 vs the 76ers, 1 vs the Jazz, 1 vs the Blazers, 1 vs the Warriors, 1 vs Knicks. The Celtics will have 5 back to backs in that span vs MIL @ CLE, vs LAL vs OKC, @ UTAH @ POR, @ LAL @ LAC, vs GS vs NYK. The Celtics schedule will get easier once they get to January, The Celtics will play 15 back to backs and only 3 of them will be without travel included the league average is 13.5 back to backs. The Celtics will play the Bulls, Heat, Cavs and Magic 3 times instead of 4 times. The Celtics in total will travel 43,000 miles this season which is 3,000 more then the Eastern Conference Average. So we will discuss this schedule and any other key dates that have been revealed for fans.
The NBA Free Agency Period is underway and boy there have been some big time signging for the Championship contenders. However one contender that has not fallen in that bracket of making a big time deal has been the Boston Celtics. Several insiders have reported the Celtics seem content to focus on signing players who would accept 1 year deals so like that the Celtics would preserve all the cap space they would have in the summer of 2022. Due to this the Celtics have lost Evan Fournier in free agency and thus far have signed only 1 player in former Celtics center Enes Kanter. So what is it the Celtics could be planning for next summer that they were willing to lose Evan Fournier and appear to be willing to waive the white flag on this season in order to accomplish. Meanwhile what about the other teams the Celtics have been expected to contend with like the Nets, Lakers, Bucks, 76ers and Raptors. Did those teams jump way ahead of the Celtics with any moves early in free agency hence the rich get richer of did they lose key players? Meanwhile the Celtics had contract discussions with Marcus Smart despite Smart not being a free agent until next summer which has people questioning what the Celtics might be planning for Smarts future if he was to sign on the dotted line? So we will discuss all of that plus anything else that has gone on in the first week of NBA Free Agency on todays show
Celtics Gm Brad Stevens game stars Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart the right to impact who would be their next head coach after reports of turmoil in the locker room under his leadership last season. The players chose Brooklyn Nets assistant Ime Udoka who already has experienced coaching the 3 stars as he was an assistant coach for Team USA for the Fiba World Cup in 2019 which Smart, Tatum and Brown all participated. This move gives the Celtics a coach of color which many felt was gonna happen and was likely something players were gonna force due to the current issues in the country and the fact the NBA players are trying to send a political message which only intensified after the incident with Brooklyn Nets star point guard Kyrie Irving in the Celtics 1st round playoff loss in game 4 of the NBA Playoffs. So with this move now officially in the books how does the Celtics Talk Radio Crew feel about it? Do they feel Ime Udoka was the best option available knowing the issues that have been reporting regarding the players on the roster or did the ownership and Brad Stevens give in to the players demands too easily? What about expectations now since this is the coach the players chose should expectations be lifted for this team going foward meaning if they fail the coach can no longer be blamed? What about the issue of free agency in a month you now no longer have Ainge as your GM, you got a black coach instead of a white one which seems to be a something the NBA Players care about now a days will Brad Stevens now be able to make moves compared to what Ainge did? What about our top stars are they now willing to recruit or will they still say thats not their jobs like Tatum recently did? We try to discuss all of it in 3 hours and let you hear what insiders are saying on tonights Celtics Talk Radio. We will be joined by Adam Taylor (@AdamTaylorNBA on twitter) of Celtics Blog
The Boston Celtics season has officially come to an end and now an offseason officially filled with a ton of questions is upon us. The offseason got off to a hot start this past Wednesday when Celtics GM Danny Ainge announced he would be stepping down from his position and Head Coach Brad Stevens would be getting promoted from his position to take over the GM position meaning that on top of the team needed a complete make over to try and get back into contention for an NBA Championship. The team now has to deal with getting a new Head Coach. Which of course now begs the question for many fans who will that new head coach be and will the new head coach be able to win over the stars of the team who reportedly Head Coach Brad Stevens lost as the voice of the locker room. Meanwhile on our last show the Celtics had just won game 3 to make it a 2-1 series lead for BKN. The Celtics would then lose the nex 2 games to have their season ended. With game 4 being in Boston with the top story from that game being the incidents that occurred after the game where former Celtics PG now BKN Nets PG Kyrie Irving went to the center of the Celtics court and stomped on the Celtics logo and then smeared his foot as to indicate he was cleaning crap off his foot which caused Celtics fans to take exception then as he walked off the court a fan threw a water bottle at him which then allowed him and fellow superstar Kevin Durant to say Celtics fans are racist. The outrage for both incident was enough that former players including Celtics greats like Cedric Maxwell and KG responded outraged at what happened. So we will give our final thoughts on this season. Adam Taylor of CelticsBlog (@AdamTaylorNBA on Twitter will join us). How do we feel about how the season ended? What about the incident involving Kyrie Irving stomping on the logo and the fan throwing the bottle? Does Brad Stevens need to cater to Tatum and Brown this summer and get their opinions in the next moves?
Danny Ainge steps down as the GM of the Boston Celtics and the Celtics have now made it where head coach Brad Stevens will move from Head Coach to the new President of Basketball Operations for the team. Brad Stevens now will have a crazy offseason filled with responsibilites of now having to find a new Head Coach as well as having to figure out what the Hell to do with this roster in order to get it back into contention with the BRooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks. We will do a short quick show to recap this and leave our normal show for Saturday night
The Boston Celtics Friday night got their 1st win over the Brooklyn Nets this season returning to Boston facing an 0-2 defecit looking to avoid and 0-3 defecit to the Brooklyn Nets and now the series is the Nets 2 the Celtics 1 going into Sundays Game 4. The Celtics win 125-119 as Jayson Tatum led the Celtics scoring 50 points outscoring Nets leading score James Harden who had 41. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving combined for 55 points (Durant 39, Irving 16) in what was Irvings 1st game back in Boston with fans allowed inside the TD Garden. While Tristan Thompson, Marcus Smart and Evan Fournier combined for 59 points (17 Fournier, 19 Thompson, 23 Smart). The win featured the Nets coming out and quickly going up 19-4 making Celtics fans think the team was in for a blowout before a timeout called by head coach Brad Stevens allowed the Celtics to get their heads right and Tatum finally took over. So this sets up a huge game Sunday night where if the Celtics win the series is tied and will guarantee a game 6 in the series while a Nets win means they can eliminate the Celtics when the series shifts back to Brooklyn. Meanwhile during game 3 another thing everyone was looking to keep an eye on was the behavior of the Boston Celtics fans and how they would treat Kyrie Irving. As this was the 1st game that the Nets PG would play in Boston with fans in attendance since he opted to break the promise he made to Celtics fans a few years ago when he said he intended to resign with Boston. Of course Kyrie Irving made things more interesting with his comments of fans in Boston being racists and saying he hoped the fans could keep it clean without any racial comments dealt his way. So what about the reaction towards Kyrie did fans pass in their 1st test since his remarks what could happen Sunday night when the TD Garden will be at full capacity. We will discuss with Milke Dynon (@MikeDynon on Twitter) of Redsarmy.com
The Boston Celtics defeated the Washington Wizards 118-100 Tuesday night in game 1 of the NBA's Play in Tournament and their reward a matchup with the Brooklyn Nets in the 1st round of the NBA Playoffs. Jayson Tatum scored 50 points in that game while Kemba Walker added 29 points and Tristan Thompson had 12 off the bench. Now the Celtics starting Saturday night at 8PM ET will face a Brooklyn Nets team that went 3-0 against the Celtics this season winning by score of 123-95 on Christmas Day, 121-109 on March 11th and 109-104 on April 23rd. Obviously this series is totally different then what we saw in the regular season as during the regular season not one of those matchups saw the Celtics face the Nets with the Nets having Harden, Durant and Kyrie all on the floor together. Meanwhile the Celtics had Jaylen Brown in the Christmas and March 11th games but will not have Jaylen Brown for the remainder of this season as we reported on our last show meaning if the Celtics are gonna somehow get past the Brooklyn Nets they will need to do so without Jaylen Brown. So on tonights show we will preview that series with the Brooklyn Nets. We will discuss was this is a good idea for the Celtics to actually fight for the right to enter the NBA Playoffs as some fans feel with the loss of Jaylen Brown it was a foregone conclusion you would not beat either Brooklyn of Philadelphia in round 1 so would Boston had been better off losing the Play In Tournament and going into the Lottery then playing a few more games and now having to accept losing to former teammate Kyrie Irving and his new team? What about the actual schedule for this series. We will announce it for those who follow our show but are not members of our group. Also what are the NBA Experts saying as of right now for this series is anyone giving Boston a chance to win this series or is it all Brooklyn and all in 4 games. We will discuss
Celtics fan hopes that the team would do something big once the NBA Playoffs roled around come next week may have evaporated over the last week and now Celtics fans might just have to start thinking about next season. On last weeks edition of Celtics Talk Radio the Celtics were sitting in sole possession of 6th place in the Eastern Conference 1 game ahead of the Miami Heat with 2 matchups against Miami coming up in the next week that could determine who would be the 6th and final team to get a top 6 seed in the Eastern Conference. Since that show things went as bad as any one could have imagined for the Celtics. As the Celtics not only lose both games to the Miami Heat giving the Heat the season series hence giving them the tiebreaker and locking them in as a top 6 seed but the Celtic also lost Jaylen Brown to a season ending injury which now makes it where the Celtics will have to go to the NBA's play in tournament knowing they will have to win a game against 1 of 4 different opponents without JAylen Browns services just to then earn the right to face either the Philadelphia 76ers or the Brooklyn Nets or the Milwaukee Bucks in round 1 of the NBA Playoffs and if the Celtics can not win 1 game then their season will end without seeing a best of 7 playoff series this season. We will be joined by Warren Shaw (@ShawSportsNBA on twitter) co-host of the NBA-Baseline Podcast. As we discuss what should be the reasonable expectations now that Jaylen Brown is out. Should we atleast expect the team to get out of the Play In Tournament or should fans be satisfied they atleast made it to the Play In Tournament. What about the season overall injuries has been the top problem should the team be cut some slack knowing they will go the entire season without having a single game without the entire roster available? What about the format of the Play In Tournament and when will the games be we will discuss that on this edition of Celtics Talk Radio
We are going into our final full week of the NBA Regular Season. The Celtics have 5 games left and know they will be seeing some action in the NBA Playoffs the only question is will their NBA Playoff path start with a 1st round best of 7 playoff series via the 3/6 or 4/5 match or will they end up in a play in tournament knowing that their reward for winning that tournament is a playoff series with either the #1 seed or #2 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics now sit at 35-32 and 7th in the Eastern Conference which is the top spot in that play in tournament but the Celtics are just 1 game back of the 6th seeded Miami Heat for the last spot that guarantees that you avoid that play in tournament and get a 1st round best of 7 matchup with 2 games against the Heat schedule this upcoming week. Literally the next 2 games for the Boston Celtics which will be home games for the Celtics against the Miami Heat could very well determine the Celtics entire playoff path depending on what happens also with the New York Knicks as well as the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets in the next week. The Celtics are still within shouting distance of the Knicks and Hawks who occupy the 4th and 5th seeds however only the #1 seed appears to be set in stone with the 76ers. The Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets are tied with 5 games to go for the 2nd and 3rd seeds meaning if Celtics fans want a specific 1st round matchup theres almost no way to know which seed to grab to guarantee it at this point. We will discuss all of it and te scenarios as well as whats the latest on the teams health and state of mind so close to the Playoffs as we will be joined by Rich Conte (@Richconte on twitter) Producer and Host of the TechLifePod Podcast.
No Durant, No James Harden, Kyrie Irving only scores 15 vs the Celtics without Jaylen Brown, Kemba Walker and Jayson Tatum scores 38 you would think Boston has the game. NOT SO FAST LADIES AND GENTLEMAN. The Celtics had that happen Friday night and sure enough it was proven that there is no game that is a guaranteed win with them as the Celtics were defeated 109-104 giving the Brooklyn Nets a 3-0 Season Series sweep making it that the Celtics finished all their games against the Eastern Conferences top 3 teams with no wins against the top 2 seeds in the 76ers and the Nets and a 2-1 record against the Milwaukee Bucks. Many expected the Celtics to lose this game to begin with as the Celtics were playing a rested Nets team while the Celtics were on the 2nd night of a back to back. Both sides were missing key players which was a theme in all 3 matchups this season. So the Celtics finished the last week at 2-2 beating the Warriors and the Suns but losing to the Bulls and the Nets. How should we feel about this team now knowing theres only 3 weeks left before the NBA Playoffs begin and the team has injuries to several players specifically key players and now the Celtics now have shown if they have any chance of getting beyond the 2nd round its because they somehow get matched up with the Milwaukee Bucks. Also with 3 weeks left its time to be focusing on the standings and making moves to think about the playoff matchups. The Celtics sit in the 6th seed and are fighting to avoid falling into the 7 through 10 spots as that would make them get into the play in tournamet and would force a potential 1st round matchup with Philly or Brooklyn at this point. Which matchup should the Celtics be aiming for. We discuss with our special guest Mike Dynon (@MikeDynon on twitter, Writer for RedsArmy.com
The Celtics on our last show were fresh off getting beaten by the 76ers for the 3rd and final time in the regular season giving the 76ers the knowledge that they will be undefeated against the Celtics if they meet in the playoffs. The team was being called out by fans and NBA Analysts for not getting the job done a single time and since then have now played 5 games. The first 2 we discussed on our last show which were a 145-136 OT win over the Timberwolves and a 101-99 win over the Knicks. Since our last show the Celtics went on a 3 game Western Conference Road trip which saw them play 3 of the better teams in the Western Conference in the Nuggets, Trailblazers and Lakers. The Celtics managed to keep the win streak alive by defeating the Denver Nuggets in the Road Trip opener 105-87 where despite trailing going into the 4th the Celtics used a 31-8 4th quarter advantage to blow out the Nuggets. This game saw all 4 Boston Starters score in double figures. Then 2 nights later the Celtics were victorious 116-115 over the Portland Trailblazers in a game that saw both teams keep it close with the largest lead being only 9 points and once again all 5 Boston starters scored in double digits this time with atleast 13 points a piece. 2 nights later the Celtics took on the Lakers in a game that saw the Lakers play without Lebron James and Anthony Davis as well as a number of their main players. The Celtics managed to go up by close to 30 before ultimately Brad Stevens opted to take out their main players and placed the 3rd unit in and saw in a span of 5 minutes the game transformed to a 2 possession game before Brad Stevens had to send out members of the 1st and 2nd unit to finish the job for the last 2 minutes of the game. We will be joined by Adam Taylor (@AdamTaylorNBA on twitter) of CelticsBlog as we discuss the last 3 games. Did the 3rd unit proved they shouldnt see the floor no more? Plus we look towards the showdowns with Phoenix and Brooklyn
The Boston Celtics did battle with the Philadelphia 76ers for the 3rd and final time in the 2020-2021 NBA Regular Season. This would be the 1st time this season the Celtics would play the 76ers with all of their main stars available as in the previous 2 meetings the Celtics had to play without the services of Jayson Tatum but they did still have Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart in both of the first 2 matchups. After losing the first 2 matchups by a combined 20 points the Celtics would go into this game knowing it would be their last chance to prove to their fanbase they can beat this years verson of Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers. However despite movie being filmed in a new location with some new supporting stars the main stars for Philly again outshined the main stars for Boston in this 3rd and final matchup as the 76ers were victorious 106-96 in a game that saw the 76ers outscore the Celtics by 13 points at the free throw line as the 76ers took more then double the free throws that the Cetics took as the 76ers took 39 free throws making 29 of them while the Celtics took only 18 free throws making 16. So now how should Celtics fans feel about the Celtics. When looking at the 3 main teams in the Eastern Conference in the Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks the Celtics are now 2-6 having lost all 3 games to the 76ers with no more matchups to go, winning the season series over the Milwaukee Bucks with 2 wins to 1 loss, then the Celtics have 1 more game to go with the Nets having lost both games already this season. So with Bobby Krivitsky we will discuss the last week of Boston Celtics action including that loss to the 76ers and discuss where the Celtics now stand in the Eastern Conference and if it may just be time for fans to accept that we are likely headed for the play in tournament rather then a top 4 seed in the East
The NBA Trade Deadline passed this past Thursday with the Celtics making 2 deals before the deadline. The 2 moves had Celtics fans going at it with each other on whether they liked or hated the moves but also had Celtics/NBA insiders and Reporters viewing the moves as Danny Ainges way of saying he is giving up on the season and is already looking towards the 2021/2022 NBA Season. The Celtics this past Wednesday night played the Milwaukee Bucks with several players on the team wondering if they were playing in their final game as members of the Boston Celtics 1 of those players being Marcus Smart whos name was rumoed to be moved to Orlando for Aaron Gordon. The Celtics had their chance to win at the buzzard but a wide open 3 by Daniel Theis in the corner hit the back of the rim and bounced out sealing a 2 point win for the Bucks. The next afternoon Danny Ainge made a trade for soon to be free agent Guard Evan Fournier. The Celtics in exchange sent 2 2nd round picks to Orlando and 17.5 Million out of the 28 million dollar Gordon Hayward TPE. Danny Ainge ultimately finished his day with a 3 team trade sending Celtics starting C Daniel Theis to Chicago and backup PG Jeff Teague and G Javonte Green to Washington in exchange for soon to be free agents C Luke Kornet and F Moritz Wagner. This deal was the Celtics way of getting themselves under the Tax line and it was reported it was likely Ainge would not add any more players the rest of the season. The next night it was Celtics vs Bucks round 2. The Celtics started Robert Williams at Center and it seemed like a new team with more energy and Boston won 122-114. So how do we feel about the moves? Did Danny Ainge officially give up and what are the media members saying about his decision and how is it likely gonna impact the future? How about the Celtics and the Bucks games did the Celtics performances change our mind on the teams outlook for the season?
The Boston Celtics and the rest of the NBA are just 5 days away from the NBA Trade Deadline and Boston fans have GM Danny Ainge, Head Coach Brad Stevens and the Celtics players on the hot seats as the Celtics for the 2nd time in less then 2 months have now fallen under the 500 mark after losing 4 of their first 5 games since the All-Star Break and now are looking more like a team who will have to earn their playoff spot in the play in tournament by finishing in the 7th through 10th spot rather then being a top 6th seed to avoid that chaos. Many thought the team had corrected themselves with their winning streak prior to the All-Star Break and that getting Marcus Smart back would only make things better. WRONG. If anything things appear to have gotten worse as the Celtics in the last week lost 3 games. 1 to the NBA's best team in the Utah Jazz then 2 games to non playoff contenders in the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Sacrament Kings. This now has fans and NBA/Celtics Analysts questioning the hearts of the players, whether its worth even making any moves to try and improve this roster? If Ainge and Brad Stevens need to BLOW IT UP and start from scratch and much more. Danny Ainge has 5 days to make his decision on whether he thinks this years team is even worth investing any assets in or if he feels its better to hold of and wait to see if he can make an even better team next year where hopefully things in the East wont be so loaded either. Are the Celtics Talk Crews predictions actually coming to pass. We will discuss with our special guest Mike Dynon of Redsarmy.com the last week of action and let you hear what the experts are saying and give our thoughts on what we think Ainge needs to do in the coming days
The 2nd half of the NBA Season is now officially underway. The Celtics have played only 1 game since the returning from the All-Star Break which was their 2nd showdown with the Brooklyn Nets of the season. The Celtics took on the Brooklyn Nets back on Christmas Day in a matchup that saw the Nets destroy the Celtics on the TD Garden floor 123-95 this was only the 2nd game of the season which of course saw the Celtics playing without starting PG Kemba Walker. Since then we have seen things change for both the Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets. The Celtics have ended up dealing with multiple injuries and have found themselves in the middle of the pack in the Eastern Conference. While the Brooklyn Nets have remained near the top of the Eastern Conference fighting with the 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks for the #1 overall seed while also making trades and free agency signings to add even more talent. The Nets had added James Harden to form their own Superstar Big 3 and just recently added former Superstar Blake Griffin to the roster. So how did the Celtics fair in this 2nd showdown with the Brooklyn Nets. Did the Celtics manage to pick up the win which means now the 2 squards are tied at 1-1 in the season series with 1 game left on April 23rd and could make some people believe we maybe Boston has a shot to be a title contender after all. Or did Brooklyn outshine the Celtics for the 2nd time and clinch the season series. What about the latest reports on the upcoming Trade Deadline which is now less then 2 weeks away. Is it looking more likely that Ainge will make a move to try and get on the fast lane or will he continue to remain on the slow lane and look towards the future. We discuss with our guest Rich Conte (Producer and Host of the TechLifePod Podcast) as well as audios from Danny Ainge and the team
It is officially time to hit the panic button. The Celtics are just 3 games away from the NBA's All-Star Break and right now fans across Celtics Nation are starting to wonder. Will the Celtics even make the NBA Playoffs and if they do will it even be worth it rather then maybe tanking the 2nd half of the season for a high draft pick? Yes the Celtics truly hit ROCK BOTTOM this. After Celtics GM Danny Ainge took to the Radio Airways in Boston last week and said the team wasnt a title contender. The Celtics rather then responding to the comments from their GM with some good performances only ended up proving that Ainge might have been telling the truth as they went on a 3 game losing streak on their 3 game road trip. Losing to the Pelicans, Mavericks and Hawks to finish off their last road trip of the 1st half part of the season schedule and falling 2 games under 500. After losing to the Pelicans and Mavericks and just a few hours before the loss to the Hawks Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck took to the airways and followed in Danny Ainges footsteps by saying the team isnt a title contender. That same night the Celtics ended the road trip getting blown out by the Atlanta Hawks in a game that saw the Hawks go up by as much as 27 points in route to a 127-112 win. So we will discuss where the Celtics now stand in the East Standings. Is it even worth any of our guys going to the All-Star Festivities knowing how things are going. You will hear audios from Celtics management and ownership on where they think the team is right now and where their confidence is right now. Is it being proven that Marcus Smart might be the most important player on this roster despite not being the best scorer. We will discuss those things and look to the final week of the 1st half schedule with Mike Dynon @MikeDynon on Twitter and a writer for Redsarmy.com and Matt Rury @TeamGreenTruth on Twitter and a CLNS Media Host and Writer
The Celtics finished their recent 5 game homstand with a record of 2-3 and had many including GM Danny Ainge starting to question if he had made the right decisions when it came to how he assembled the team and if a move or 2 might need to be made. It caused the players themselves to have a players only meeting as the players themselves were starting to admit deep down the team was no headed in the right direction even though some didnt have it in them to say it publicly to the media while others did. The Celtics 1st game after all these comments were made by the team, staff, coaching and management saw the Celtics take on the runner up in last years Western Conference Finals in the Denver Nuggets. The Celtics came away with a 112-99 win over the Nuggets despite the Nuggets getting 43 points from MVP candidate Nikola Jokic. The Celtics won the battle of the benches 30-14 which made all the difference in this battle of 2 of last years final 4 teams in the NBA Playoffs. The Celtics would then host the Atlanta Hawks in a 2 game mini series to finish off the 3 game homestand. This would give the Celtics a chance to face a team that some have said Danny Ainge should have some trade discussions with.
The Celtics and the rest of the NBA are just 3 weeks away from the All-Star Break. The Celtics just got back from a 5 game Western Conference Road Trip that saw them finish 2-3. Outside of a 122-108 loss to the League Leading Utah Jazz the Celtics with a few possession going 1 way or the other could have ended up with a 0-5 road trip or a 4-1 road trip. The Celtics came home to faceoff with their division rivals the Toronto Raptors for the 2nd time this season. This matchip showed the bad blood that was shown between the 2 teams in last years NBA Playoffs hasnt stopped boiling as we saw several hits to the head, players being laid out, constant complaining to the refs looking for foul calls, However there was one thing that also remained the same from last years playoff matchup. The Celtics walked away victorious with a 120-106 victory in which the Celtics saw a change to the starting lineup as Brad Stevens removed Grant Williams and inserted Semi Ojeleye and it resuled in Semi scoring 24 points for the Celtics. Payton Pritchard was the 2nd highest scorer for the Celtics coming off the bench and the Celtics had 30 assists on the night with Celtics stars Tatum and Brown combining for 19 of the 30. The Celtics still remain without Marcus Smart and despite the bad West Coach Trip still sit in a tight race with the Brooklyn Nets and the Indiana Pacers for the 3rd, 4th and 5th seeds. Reports have come out that other NBA Team officials believe the Celtics will make some sort of move before the NBA Trade Deadline which is just about a month and a half away. So whats the most important need for the Celtics in our teams view. Can Ainge really make the teams issues get resolved with 1 new player or does it need to be multiple. We will discuss these topics with Rich Conte (@richconte on twitter) and Andy Vernon
The Celtics in just a few short hours will play the Lakers in the latest chapter of the NBA's most historic rivalry. This will be the Celtics 18th game meaning we have officially reached the 1/4 mark of the 2020-2021 NBA Season. Its been a crazy first 1/4 of the season as the Celtics started the season as the best team in the East despite not having All-Star PG Kemba Walker able to play. Then the team got hit with Covid-19 issues and hit a speed bump which forced them out of 1st and into a tie with the Bucks for 2nd place 1 game behind the 76ers. However for this past Wednesday game the Celtics got all of their top 3 players on the court for the 1st time this season as they took on the San Antonio Spurs in San Antonio. The game came down to the wire but Marcus Smart missed a game tieing wide open 3 in the corner that sealed the win for SA and caused the Celtics to fall from a potential 2nd place in the East all the way down to 5th behind the 76ers, Bucks, Pacers and Nets. Now the Celtics 2 nights later get prepared to play Lebron in just a few short hours actually right at the conclusion of this show. They have lost their 1st game with their stars all at their disposal will they now go 0-2? Does a loss tonight to the Lakers mean Danny Ainge needs to make a trade in order to beef up the roster to get the Celtics back on track? Whos rumored to be available that Danny Ainge should consider if the Celtics Talk Crew thinks a trade must be done? Is it right to still think the team needs more time to gel as they have only played 1 game with Tatum, Brown and Kemba together this season or does the fact they all played together last season negate that excuse and now all excuses are eliminated. We will discuss this with NBA Baseline Co-host Warren Shaw (@ShawSportsNBA on twitter), CLNS Media Author and Careless Whisper Host Matt Rury (@TeamGreenTruth on twitter) and fellow Celtics Fan Blogger from Green and White Fan Blog Andy Vernon
The Celtics played 3 games since our last show all without the services of Jayson Tatum. Since our last show the Celtics played 3 games. The first was a matchup with the New York Knicks at TD Garden. This game resulted in a complete embarrasing performance for the Boston Celtics as the Knicks destroyed them 105-75 on their own court. The Celtics 2 nights later would face off with Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers for the first time this season and for the first time under command of former Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers. The Celtics despite having the lead in the 4th quarter would go on to lose 117-109. Celtics fans as well as Celtics guard Marcus Smart let their displeasure be known with how the game was officiated as the Celtics took 20 free throws while the 76ers took 45. With 21 of those 45 free throws going to 76ers Superstar Big Man Joel Embiid who went on to score 42 points in the game. The Celtics would play this game not only without Jayson Tatum but with All-Star PG Kemba Walker on a minutes restriction which also played a role in the Celtics not getting the offensive punch needed to win. 2 nights later the Celtics would take on the 76ers again in a rematch again on the 76ers court with Jayson Tatum despite being removed from Covid-19 restrictions being held out of the game. The Celtics once again would lose to the 76ers despite a 42 point performance from Jaylen Brown. The Celtics would also lose Payton Pritchard to an injury in this game and now he is questionable for the Celtics next game. So what are our host and guest top takeaways from the mini series sweep at the hands of the 76ers? Should we just toss the losses to the side since Tatum didnt play or is there something else to worry about? We will be joined by RedsArmy.com writer Mike Dynon, Celtics Fan and We Bleed Green member Andy Vernon
The Celtics/NBA season has gotten quite complicated over the last few weeks. On our last show the Celtics Talk Radio crew discussed the breaking news that Jayson Tatum and Robert Williams had tested positive for Covid-19 and that more then half the team was at risk of now being uneligible to play in the teams upcoming games due to the NBA's protocols to try and help limit the spread. Sure enough the next few games for the Celtics were all postponed to later dates that are to be determined due to the Celtics or their opponents not having the required amount of players needed to play in the game. So where do the Celtics now stand not only in the NBA Standings but also injury and schedule wise here in Saturday JAN 16th. Meanwhile the NBA did have some big news that has taken the sports world by storm and has many Celtics fans now reacting which was Houston Rockets Superstar James Harden was traded to the Brooklyn Nets and he will join forces with Kevin Durant and former Celtics Kyrie Irving. The Celtics had been linked to James Harden but it was reported the only way the Celtics could have traded for Harden was to give up Jaylen Brown. So now that Harden is off the table what does this mean for the Celtics. Does this move which now has many experts saying the East is all but wrapped up in the Nets favor put more pressure on Danny Ainge to possibly make a move of some sort to help aid the Celtics big 3 of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Kemba Walker to increase the Celtics chances of coming out of the East? Whats the latest on Kemba Walkers return and can we be confident he will remain healthy enough to help Tatum and Brown once they go toe to toe with the Nets? We will discuss all that and more with B Ball Insiders Reporter Bobby Krivitsky (@BobbyKrivitsky on twitter) and Celtics sports writer and fan Andrew Vernon
The Celtics in the last week have had a chance to prove something to 2 of the teams they faced in last seasons NBA Playoffs. The Celtics faced off with the Toronto Raptors for the 1st time since the Celtics eliminated the Toronto Raptors from the playoffs with a 92-87 Game 7 win in last years Eastern Conference Semi Finals back on September 11th. This game had all the advantages going to the Toronto Raptors heading into the game. From the Celtics playing on the 2nd night of a back to back after beating the Detroit Pistons a night before which was 2 nights after the Pistons beat the Celtics in their 1st game of a mini series et. Toronto was rested and Boston would be missing several key players for this game. Yet the Celtics would blowout the Raptors by going up by over 20 points before settling for a 126-114 win. 2 nights later the Celtics would take on the Miami Heat for the 1st time this season and the 1st time since the Heat eliminated the Celtics with a 125-113 win in game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals giving the Heat the right to go to the NBA Finals and giving the Celtics their 3rd conference finals loss in the last 4 years. The Celtics would walk away vcitorious 107-105 after a Payton Pritchard buzzard beating putback off a Marcus Smart miss. This game saw Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown outduel the Heats duo of Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo by a final smount of 48 to 41 and the Boston bench fall 1 point short of matching up the Miami bench which was a critical battle in last years Conference Finals. 2 nights later the Celtics would take on the Washington Wizards in Boston. However multiple Celtics players as well as players from other teams were being forced into quarantine due to covid-19 testing. We will be joined by BBallInsiders NBA Reporter Bobby Krivitsky and fellow Celtics Fan Andy Vernon.
The NBA Regular Season is officially underway and the Celtics have played 2 totally different games with 2 totally different results without the services of Kemba Walker. The first game saw the Celtics take on Giannis Antetokounmpo and the MIlwaukee Bucks. The Celtics would go up by as much as 17 points in the 2nd half via a great performance by Jaylen Brown. However come the 4th quarter Giannis and the Bucks cut the lead to a 2 point game in the first 6 minutes of the quartr before ultimately we saw a back and forth dance the rest of the way. The Celtics would trail by 1 point with 8.9 seconds left when they gave Jayson Tatum the ball and he went 1 on 1 with Giannis guarding him and Tatum let a 3 point shot go off over the outreached hand of Giannis. The shot would hit high off the backboard and drop in giving the Celtics a 122-120 lead with 0.4 seconds left. Giannis would draw a foul on new Celtics Center Tristan Thompson allowing him the chance to tie the game at the free throw line. However Giannis would miss the 2nd free throw and it would give the Celtics the 122-121 win. The game saw Celtics stars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum outduel the Bucks duo of MVP candidate Giannis Antetokounmpp and star Khris Middleton by the final amount of 63 to 62. This game saw Celtics newcomers Tristan Thompson and Jeff Teague chip in 31 points. 2 nights later on Christmas Day however things went the exact opposite for the Celtics as they hosted the duo of Kevin Durant and former Celtic Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets Superstar Duo would outshine the Celtics Star duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. As Kyrie Irving and Durant combined for 66 to Tatum and Browns 47 in what turned out to be a 28 point win for the Nets 123-95. So what did these 2 games prove. Does this season come down to the healt of Kemba Walker. Is a devastating injury the only thing that can stop the Nets. We will discuss with Rich Conte of the Techlife Podcast and Celtics fan Andy Verno
The preseason for the Boston Celtics has come to an end. The Celtics played only 2 games 1 against Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers and then Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets. The Celtics of course went into this preseason schedule knowing that they wouldnt have starting PG Kemba Walker and newly acquired Center Tristan Thompson and their starting center for last season Daniel Theis. The first game saw the Celtics lose 108-99 to the 76ers. A game that saw the Celtics get some great performances from some of thier newest players and some terrible performances from their star players. Then 3 nights later the Celtics took on former Celtic Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets. Celtics now have their eyes set on their opening night showdown with Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks. Brad Stevens hopes to have Tristan Thompson and Daniel Theis for that game but its not likely they will have Kemba Walker. So we will discuss who should be in the 10 man rotation for this team and who should be forced to sit on the bench and wait for an injury or foul trouble to get their playing time? What about expectations for this year is this a year where its Championship or Bust for this Celtics squad especially with the team proclaiming that this is Tatum and Browns team and now their aint no one reamining from the Big 3 that everyone says was holding them back over the last few years? What about the starting Center spot. Should Theis keep it or should Tristan Thompson take it. We will discuss that with Nicola Bogani of Celtics Nation Italia. Mike Dynon of RedsArmy.com. Also our friend Andrew Vernon will join us.
The full Celtics Talk Radio crew are back together for tonights show. The Boston Celtics and all of the NBA Teams are now in the middle of their training camps and are working to make things perfectly set up for the NBA Regular Season. From setting the teams pecking order and rotations. To any last minute roster changes players being ditched cause their team didnt feel they deserved to make the final cut for their rosters. Plus the NBA schedule is out and now we know truly who the Celtics will play and when. So join us today as we announce the Celtics regular season schedule and look at some of the big dates and games that will feature our Celtics. To discussing Danny Ainge managing to get the Charlotte Hornets to agree to do a Sign and Trade deal for Gordon Hayward which has given the Celtics the biggest Trade Exception in NBA History. Has Danny Ainge used it on anyone since the deal was made official earlier this week. Or will we see Ainge hold off and wait for later on this season or even next summer to use it. What about the moves for Jeff Teague and Tristan Thomson where do we think they should fall in the Celtics pecking order. Should Thompson be giving the spot of starting center as the veteran big man of the team or should that spot be given again to Daniel Theis or even given to another big like Robert Williams. Jeff Teague should he be given the role of backup pg behind Kemba and if so what does this mean for Marcus Smart is it a better idea to have him start in Gordon Haywards spot or should someone else take it. We debate all of that on this episode of Celtics Talk Radio. We will be joined by fellow Celtics Fan Andrew Vernon as well as NBA Baseline co-host Warren Shaw
The 2020-20201 NBA Season is a go after the NBA Owners and Players managed to come to an agreement to amend the CBA and work out an agreement that would satisfy both sides. The 2020-2021 Season will feature a 72 game season. 3 nights ago the NBA had the 2020 NBA Draft which saw the Celtics have 3 1st round picks to work with. Then less then 48 hours later Danny Ainge and the rest of the NBA teams had the next big part of the off season schedule to worry about. NBA Free Agency. The NBA and the players agreed to make the salary cap for the 2020-2021 season 109.1 million with a luxury tax amount of 132.6 million. So it has been 24 hours since the opening of free agency and we are 18 hours away from the time that contracts can officially start being signed by players to join their teams for the 2020-2021 season. So what has happened for the Boston Celtics over the past 24 hours between the player/team option contracts for Gordon Hayward, Jayson Tatum, Daniel Theis, Enes Kanter, Robert Williams and Semi Ojeleye. Did any of them remain Celtics via their contract options or did they hit the free agency market? What about the 3 1st round picks from this past Wednesdays draft night. Did Danny Ainge manage to make a trade up in the draft to get a high prospect or trade for a veteran or did he strike out and end up with 3 college players? What rumors are we hearing for the free agency market. Could we see Gordon Hayward leaving in less then 24 hours or is he expected to remain a Celtics player? Is Danny Ainge gonna be able to get a legit big man after failing to get one last season? Those questions and more are discussed on tonights Free Agency Special. We are joined by Sports Anchor and Report Bobby Krivitsky (@BobbyKrivitsky on twitter) and fellow Celtics fan Andrew Vernon
Its the night of the NBA Draft. November 18th with the NBA Draft beginning at 7PM ET. the Celtics have 3 1st round picks #14, #26, #30. The Celtics have been rumored to be interested in trading the 3 1st round picks to move up in the NBA Draft. Or using the pick to sweeten a deal for a potential deal for a veteran player. Also what about Gordon Hayward. Who reports say would like to leave the Boston Celtics if he can find the right deal elsewhere. Could we see a sign and trade deal potentially invovling some of the 1st round picks to sweeten the deal for the Celtics trade partner in exchange for pieces the Celtics may want like the rumors of the Celtics interested in Indiana Pacers Victor Oladipo and Myles Turner. So join Daniel and Kevin who will be running the show today and their guest will be Celtics fans Andrew Vernon and Murry E Baskerville as we announce the NBA Draft picks as they are announced and give our thoughts on the moves made by the NBA teams in the 1st round of the Draft and announce any trades that were made
There may never be a more critical offseason and upcoming season for the Boston Celtics then this offseason and the 2020/2021 NBA Season. The Boston Celtics after losing for the 3rd time in 4 seasons in the Eastern Conference Finals. Now face the realty that they are no longer alone at the top of the NBA mountain as the Lakers have tied them for the most championships in NBA History and are primed to potentially pass them next season if the Celtics dont do something or get the benefit of someone else stopping the Lakers for them. However before the Celtics can even start planning on what they are gonna do to try and prepare themselves to right the ship in what will be a more tougher Eastern Conference next season they and all the other NBA teams must wait for the NBA Owners, Players Association and the Commissioner to come to an agreement on several key issues for next season. From what the salary cap and luxury tax amounts will be so teams know what they are faced with once they are ready to start making deals in free agency and the trade market. To the discussion of when the season will actually start and what the parameters of the scheduled will look like. On todays show we will discuss the latest reports on what the league is considering for all those key issues and also discuss the latest rumors surrounding the Celtics and the NBA's upcoming NBA Draft on November 18th which could be an eventful night for Celtics GM Danny Ainge with 3 1st round picks to use or trade away in some other deals. We will be joined by Rich Conte (@richconte on twitter) Producer and Host of the Techlife Podcast. As well as Celtics fan and writer for the Green and White Celtics Fan Blog Andrew Vernon
Another season for the Boston Celtics and their fans. Another trip to the Eastern Conference Finals the 3rd time in 4 years for the Celtics and another loss in the Conference Finals for the boys in Green. On this show Daniel and Igor will be joined by 2 guest Kevin Dixon of N The Zone Sports Talk Radio and Andrew Vernon of The Green and White Celtics Fan Blog. Daniel and Igor with their guest will talk about the upcoming offseason that features many questions for Danny Ainge and Celtics ownership and players to answer. From will Jayson Tatum and the team agree to a new deal or will Ainge and the Celtics risk pissing the young star off by executing a team option on him and making him wait till next year for the new deal. What about the situation with Gordon Hayward who all reports say will execute his player option to force the Celtics to pay him over 32 million dollars for next season. Should the Celtics look to trade the star for several bench players or do our host and guest feel the team should stick with him. What about the NBA Draft and the Celtics 4 picks what should the team do with those in our guys view. Plus Danny Ainge had 2 interviews done this week and gave his thoughts on the teams final results and the teams future we will let your hear what he said and give our reaction. Join us Saturday 10/3 for the final epiisode of Celtics Talk Radio of the season
Less then 2 weeks ago things couldnt have been better for Celtics Nation. They had managed to eliminate the defending NBA Champion Toronto Raptors. Fans felt they had just overcome their biggest obstacle in a run to the NBA Finals and now all they had to do was beat the 5th seeded Miami Heat in order to get back to the NBA Finals for the 1st time since 2010. However the Celtics and their fans were brought back down to eart quickly by the Miami Heat after losing games 1 and 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. 2 losses that resulted in an argument in the Celtics locker room after the game 2 loss and required head coach Brad Stevens to call a private meeting amongst to top players to resolve their issues late that night. The Celtics would get some help in game 3 as Gordon Hayward would return and help the Celtics win the game to pull to within 2 games to 1. However after a 3 day break the Celtics returned in game 4 and returned back to their way of play that cost them the first 2 games of the series and ultimately allowed Miami Heat rookie Tyler Herro to score 37 points in route to a Miami Heat win that put the Celtics on the brink of elimination and facing a challenge that has only been done successfully 13 times prior. To win an NBA Playoff series after falling down 3 games to 1. So did the Celtics get the job done last night in game 5 to get the 1st of 3 straight wins they need to make history as the 14th win to beat this challenge or did they fail and have their season for the 3rd time in 4 years end in the Eastern Conference Finals. We will be joined by 4 guest tonight Josue Pavon (@Joe_Sway on twitter) Celtics/NBA writer for Heavy.com and CLNS. Mike Dynon (@MikeDynon on twitter) Celtics Fan and writer for Redsarmy.com. Andrew Vernon Celtics fan and writer on the Green and White Celtics Fan Blog. Kevin Dixon host of N The Zone Sports Talk Radio.
Its the Eastern Conference Finals and for the Celtics it may be time to hit the panic button after just 2 games. The Celtics trail the Miami Heat 2 games to none after losing both games in the same fashion. Blowing double digit 2nd half leads. The Celtics in game 1 manage to force overtime before ultimately losing 117-114. Then in game 2 the Celtics had a 17 point lead and ultimately a bad 3rd quarter allowed the Miami Heat to take a double digit lead and ultimately win the game 106-101 to take the 2-0 series lead. The frustration for the Celtics after game 2 was so obvious on the faces of the players as they got off the court and it was more obvious in the locker room after the game as reports said a major argument between the players broke out that potentially involved items being thrown in the locker room and players swearing. At halftime of game 2 reports were being put out saying that Jaylen Brown was getting upset over the lack of shots he was being given. So with a 2-0 series defecit and the team appearing as though they are now starting to have issues with each other while struggling to beat a team that many felt they should have be beating. Daniel and Igor will be joined by Sports Anchor Bobby Krivitsky (@Bobbykrivitsky on twitter) and CLNS Celtics Postgame host Matt Rury (@TeamGreenTruth on twitter) as they discuss can the Celtics come back and win this series. Should fans be worried that theres a crack in the celtics locker room after the reported arguement in the locker room after game 2. Does this series simply come down to can the Celtics get Gordon Hayward back or not. Also we will announce the remained of the Eastern Conference Finals schedule that was announced after game 2. PLus we will look at the Western Conferenc Finals matchup between the Lakers and Nuggets
GAME 7. 2 words that sports fans love to hear but athletes try to avoid. The Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors seasons both came down to a winner takes all Game 7 matchup last night in Orlando. A game 7 where the winner would move onto the Eastern Conference Finals and take on the Miami Heat for the right to play in the NBA Finals while the loser would be sent home to spend the summer asking the question WHAT IF. The Celtics won games 1 and 2 then lost game 3 on a buzzard beating 3 from Raptors forward OJ Anunoby to make it 2-1. Then lost game 4 in a close battle to tie the series up 2-2. The Celtics would then win game 5 in dominating fashion before blowing their 1st chance to clinch the series in game 6 as they failed with a double overtime loss that featured a horrendous performance from PG Kemba Walker and some bad turnovers and plays from the young duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. So the Celtics last night put it all on the line with a lot riding on the outcome of game 7. The Celtics and Raptors battled in a game that came down to the wire for the 2nd game in a row and the 3rd time in the series before ultimatly some big players by Marcus Smart and Jayson Tatum sealed the deal to give the Celtics the victory. WE will be joined by Rich Conte (@RichConte on twitter) Producer and Host of the Techlife Podcast, Rich A Jensen (@RichAJensen on twitter) contributor to Redsarmy.com and Kevin Dixon host of N The Zone Talk Radio as we duscuss the Celtics big win and look towards the potential matchup between the Celtics and the Miami Heat
Put the brooms away Celtics fans cause we officially have a series between our Boston Celtics and the Toronto Raptors. The Celtics after winning game 1 in dominating fashion then just managing to squeak out a win in game 2 were poised to take a 3-0 series lead and all but end the Toronto Raptors season but 1 defensive mistake cost them the chance to take that 3-0 series lead and instead has made the series 2-1 in favor of the Celtics. The Celtics lost last nights game 3 by a final score of 104-103 in a game that saw both teams go back and forth and exchange the lead in the 4th quarter. Kemba Walker connected with Daniel Theis for a 2 hand slam with 0.5 seconds left in the game to give the Celtics a 2 point lead. The Celtics celebrated with Kemba throwing his fist into the air thinking they had the game won. Only for the Raptors to snatch away the victory from the hands of defeat with a game winning 3 pointer by OG Anunoby who was left wide open on the ensuing play by Jaylen Brown. We will discuss the top stories from this game. The bad decision by Jaylen Brown to leave a wide open Anunoby in the corner to guard Marc Gasol near the rim despite a 2 point shot only forcing a tie and overtime. The play of the Boston bench who for the 3rd straight game had a great performance and for the 1st time in the series actually won the battle of the benches. The Raptors decision to go to the zone and the effect it had putting the Celtics offensive attack to a halt and if thats something Celtics fans should worry about. Plus the performances of the Boston starters who each member of the starting lineup lost their 1 on 1 matchup to their Toronto counterpart and should Boston be worried they might have given Toronto life. We will be joined by Warren Shaw (@ShawSportsNBA on twitter) of the NBA Baseline podcast, Sewell T Brewer (@SirSeezus on twitter) of the Sheezus show and Chris Langseth (@Hans02421 on twitter) Sports Journalist
Last night was supposed to be game 1 of the Celtics 2nd round playoff matchup with the Toronto Raptors. However the game did not happen as NBA Players as well as players from other sports leagues in the USA opted to boycott their respective games as a way of supporting the hundreds of American Citizens who have chosen to join the Black Lives Matters movement and protest social injustice in the country. The move by the NBA Players had some major impacts and put the remainder of the NBA Season in jeopardy. NBA Players chose to meet to decide whether or not they will opt to quit the remainder of the season or continue to play. Reports said that the NBA Players were not only getting frustrated with the fact that they were stuck in the bubble at a time that they felt they should be out amongst the people who are on the frontlines but they were getting frustrated with life in the bubble period and not being able to be with their families. Ultimately after 2 days of conversation and debate the players chose to continue with the NBA Playoffs. The NBA announced the Celtics/Raptors game 1 will be pushed to Sunday meaning an entirely new schedule for the Celtics/Raptors series will be announced. So after nearly losing the NBA Season due to the players boycotting and players making demand how do people feel about the situation? What impact will this have on the NBA Playoffs themselves do we feel the players will truly be 100% committed and focused on the games or will they have their heads somewhere else while on the court? Should fans be worried that the season can still be cancelled if the players choose to pull a move like this again in the near future? What about the Celtics and Raptors series outlook whats being said about that series. We will be joined by Bobby Krivitsky (NBA Columnist for Bleacher Report), Filippo Ferraioli (Founder of the C's Nation Italia Facebook Page), Alberto Carrus (Director of C's Nation Italia Facebook Page
The Celtics are just 1 more win from sending the Philadelphia 76ers home from the NBA Playoffs and setting themselves up in a potential matchup with the defending NBA Champion Toronto Raptors. The Celtics after blowing out the 76ers in game 2 by 27 points got put into the toughest matchup of the series thus far. The Celtics in games 1 and 2 got big time performances from their stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. However in game 3 the 2 stars struggled causing the Celtics to have to find another away to come up with the win. Enter Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart. The Celtics got some big players from Kemba Walker on the offensive end especially late in the game while Marcus Smart got the job done late on the defensive end to help the Celtics ultimately retake the lead from the 76ers and win game 3 102-94. The Celtics now on Sunday can clinch their trip to round 2 of the NBA Playoffs. Daniel and Igor will discuss the top stories from this game. From the struggles of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown and if its fair to simply give the 2 stars a pass and blame their struggles on the officiating or should they be held more accountable for not having their A game in game 3? Also did game 3 prove once and for all that Celtics fans were wrong to make the claim that the team does not need Gordon Hayward? What about the battle of the bigs is there now a reason to be concerned seeing that the Celtics got dominated in the battle of the rebounds giving up 20 offensive rebounds to a team that has only 2 bigs that get played knowing that the next round of the playoffs will feature a Toronto team that has more bigs then that? Plus more we will be joined by Nick Gelso who is the owner of CLNS Radio. Andy Vernon who is a lifelong Celtics Fan and Sports Blogger.
The Regular Season for the 2019-2020 NBA Season has finally come to an end nearly a year after it began due to the delay via the Covid-19 outbreak. It is now time for the NBA Playoffs with our Boston Celtics set to be the #3 seed in the Eastern Conference. In the Eastern Conference Playoffs the 1st Round Matchups will feature the #1 seeded Milwaukee Bucks taking on the #8 seeded Orlando Magic. The #2 seeded Toronto Raptors will take on the #7 seeded Brooklyn Nets. Our #3 seeded Boston Celtics will face the #6 seeded Philadelphia 76ers. While the #4 seeded Indiana Pacers will take on the #5 seeded Miami Heat. The Celtics sit in a good position to make another trip to the Eastern Conference Finals as they faceoff with a Philadelphia 76ers sqaud in round 1 that will be missing their Star PF in Ben Simmons and will have a less then 100% Healthy Center in Joel Embiid. The Celtics lost the season series to the 76ers 3-1 with the Celtics only victory coming via a 116-95 win back on February 1st in Boston in what was the final game of the season series. The 76ers throughout the regular season series did prove they could beat the Celtics without having to have all players available so there will be no confidence lost on Phillys part. However with the games being in a neutral site with no fans its a whole new ball game as far as Celtics fans see it. We will announce the schedule for the Celtics/76ers 1st round matchup. As well as let you hear what analysts and insiders are saying about this matchup that featured what many felt would be 2 of the top 4 teams in the Eastern Conference going into the season. We will be joined by 3 special guest today as we will have Nick Gelson (@CLNS_NICK on twitter) who is the CEO and Founder of CLNS Radio. Nicola Bogani (@NicolaBogani on twitter) Co-Ownder and Founder of C's Nation Italia and Sewell T. Brewer who is the host of the Seezus show on Youtube.com
The NBA Regular Season is back up and running. The Boston Celtics are now in the process of playing their 8 regular season games to determine what seed they will be in the NBA Playoffs. The Celtics went into their 1st game last night with the potential of finishing anywhere from the 2nd seed to the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics entered last nights game with the Milwaukee Bucks just 3 games back of the Toronto Raptors for the 2nd seed in the East. While also holding a 2.5 game lead over the 4th seeded Miami Heat and a 4.5 game lead over both the 5th seeded Indiana Pacers and 6th seeded Philadelphia 76ers. So 8 games for the Celtics to determine what seed they will be and what path they will havve come playoff time. The 1st of those 8 games was last night when the Celtics took on Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks. This was a game where the Celtics had a chance to make a statement and show that people who are not putting them as a threat to the Bucks in the Eastern Conference are wrong for not doing so. Many have felt the Toronto Raptors, Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers are bigger threats in light of the fact that those teams have better size to match up with the Bucks best players. The few that have said the Celtics can get the job done have made the argument on the Celtics shooting specifically from beyond the 3 point line to combat the Bucks size. So did the Celtics manage to pick up the win and show they dont need a dominant big to beat the top team in the Eastern Conference? Did they get beat but keep the game close to where a few bounces of the ball and official calls could have changed the outcome of the game? Or did the Bucks show that the analysts were correct and that something else will have to happen thats outside the Celtics control to help them get by Milwaukee. We will be joined by Bobby Krivitsky (@BobbyKrivitsky on twitter) Sports Director for New TV and Matt Rury (@TeamGreenTruth on twitter) CLNS Celtics Postgame Show Host

However the Celtics were not able to make any moves as their entire roster is filled out. Multiple NBA Players are letting it be known that they will skip the remained of the NBA Season for 1 reason or another. For the Boston Celtics 2 players (Gordon Hayward and Vincent Poirier) have made it known they will leave the team regardless of whether the team is currently playing in the playoffs or not to be with their wife for the birth of their new childs. Meaning the Celtics could be shorthanded come playoff time and theres no telling how long the 2 will be away from the team. So on todays show we will discuss the Celtics schedule as well as look at the moves made across the league from the players who have made it known they are not playing for their teams to the players who were signed as backups to open roster spots on other teams. We will be joined by Warren Shaw (@ShawSportsNBA on twitter) he is co-host of the NBA Baseline podcast and Kevin Dixon who is the host of N-the Zone Talk Radio
The NBA is nearing a return with the league now planning to relaunch the 2019/2020 season in just over a month and a half on July 30th. Commissioner Adam Silver alongside team owners and the players still have some kinks to work out in order to guarantee that everything will run smoothly but a majority of the major decisions have been made on how the league intends to go about the relaunch and finish the season and a lot of those details are now becoming public knowledge. We will be joined by Alberto Carrus (Director of Celtics Nation Italia), Filippo Ferraioli (Founder of Celtics Nation Italia), and Andrew Vernon (a lifelong Celtics fan) to discuss the latest info on the format and the leagues plans. Plans which include 22 teams returning to compete for the right to win the NBA Championship with those 22 teams being all teams that were in the 16 playoff spots prior to the Covid-19 outbreak as well as all teams who were withing 6 games or less of the 8th seed in their respective conferences. All other teams who were more then 6 games back of the 8th seed at that time will have the rest of their seasons canceled. This means that the only 2 teams in the Western Conference that will not be part of the dance are the Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves the other 13 Western Conference teams will all particpate. While in the Eastern Conference its only 9 teams that will qualify with the Bucks, Raptors, Celtics, Heat, Pacers, 76ers, Nets, Magic and Wizards making up the 9. The teams will play at Disney World in Orlando with all players being put in quarantine and tested during the remainder of the season. Games will begin July 30th with each team playing 8 games. The Playoffs will begin officially on August 17th with a regular 4 rounds best 4 out of 7 playoff format with the NBA Finals featuring 1 team from the East and 1 team from the West. So we will discuss the NBA's decision as well as let you know all the other details that are now public
In the last month the NBA has showed signs of the possibility of the 2019/2020 NBA Season coming back for its completion. However now all is fine and dandy with the latest thoughts on how things are going for the NBA Commissioner, the NBA Owners and the NBA Players. The NBA approved the opening of team facilities for voluntary workouts for the players so players can be in tip top shape when and if the season resumes. The NBA Commissioner made it clear the workouts were voluntary and that no player had to report if they didn't want to however some NBA teams now are forcing its players to show up for the workouts violatiing the Commissioners orders of the workouts being Voluntary. Resulting in the Players Association getting involved and asking the Commissioner Adam Silver to do something about it. The Commissioner also has given an update that any continuation of the season would likely mean no fans would be involved. It would likely mean the season would be taking place with all games taking place in 1 or 2 cities at most and all players quarantined meaning in all likely hood the remainder of the regular season is cancelled and we would just go straight into the playoffs. The Players would lose money as 40% of the income for the league comes from the fans and tickets sales and with no fans that money is not brought in. Discussions have been made on what the league would do to monitor players health and what would be done if Coronavirus was to spread amongst the teams playing. Also what does this mean for the 2020-2021 season with the late ending to this season, the late NBA Free Agency start and more. We will discuss what this means for the league and its fans and do we think its best with Rich Conte (@richconte on twitter), Andrew Vernon (celtics fan and member of the We Bleed Green Celtics Fan Forum Group), Kevin Dixon (host of N The Zone Sports Radio)
Sports fans around the country continue to sit and wait for the return of their sports as the Country continues to battle the Coronavirus. However despite games not being played that doesnt mean news for the NBA has stopped completely. On tondays show we will discuss what the latest reports are in regards to what the NBA league executives, owners and players are discussing in regards to the 2019/2020 season either being restarted again or just simply being canceled all together allowing everyone to just set their sights on October for the start of the 2020/2021 season. However for Celtics fans that has not been the only story that has been worth following in the last month. As the NBA announced the newest class for the NBA Hall of Fame with former Celtics big man Kevin Garnett being 1 of the top guys on the list alongside former San Antonio Spurs big man Tim Duncan and the recently deceased LA Laker star Kobe Bryant. So with the news of KG's induction into the hall of fame plus his jersey number retirement scheduled for next season in Boston. A lot of talk has been made of who would join KG for these celebrations other then his family. Celtics legend Cedric Maxwell did an interview with former Celtics guard Ray Allen who teamed with Kevin Garnet and former Celtics captain Paul Pierce for 5 years winning 1 Championship about the chances of him joining the guest list for Kevin Garnetts celebrations. The interview sparked debate between Celtics fans as the issues with Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett are a well known story in the NBA World and fans are torn on whos side to take. So we will ask out guest Kevin Dixon of N The Zone Sports Radio and Bobby Krivitsky of Bleacher Report for their thoughts on the situation and find out whos side are they on KG's or Ray Allens. We will also have the audios for you to hear what Ray Allen had to say about how hes been treated since leaving Boston
Just this past Tuesday the Boston Celtics had clinched their spot in the NBA Playoffs becoming the 3rd team in the Eastern Conference to do so. 24 hours later Wednesday night news broke that the NBA had made the decision to suspend the rest of the 2020 Regular Season until further notice after news broke that Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz had tested positive for the coronavirus. So now the NBA Season is in limble and everyone is wondering what will happen. Will the season start up again in a certain amount of time? Or will the league opt to cancel the rest of the season and leave teams and fans waiting until October of 2020? This situation now has major questions going on for the league and its fans. From how did Rudy Gobert get the disease and did he potentially give it to someone else? The Celtics played Gobert and the Jazz in Boston just a few days before the news broke of his infection? What about the final 18 games of the season? The Celtics are in a 3 team fight with the Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat for the 2nd seed. Will the league if they choose to restart the season at some point let the final 18 games or so left this season be played out or will they go straight to the playoffs leaving the standings the way they are? Is there really anyway the league can go the route of doing the rest of the season without putting the players, coaches and its officials in danger? Daniel and Igor will be joined by Evan Valenti of Celtics Beat
The Celtics biggest opponent this season has returned. Its not the Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat or LA Lakers. Its the INURY BUG. Once again the Celtics locker room has been infested and they are taking a hard hit in the injury department with just over a month to go in the season. Now Brad Stevens and Danny Ainge plus the players must decide what is more important. To rest players and potentially forfeit the 2nd seed and home court advantage through the first 2 rounds of the playoffs to the Toronto Raptors? Or fight for that 2nd seed to get homecourt and potentially an easier 1st round matchup in the playoffs but risk potentially not having all your pieces intact? The Celtics in the span of the last week which featued them playing 4 games have lost Gordon Hayward and Jaylen Brown to injury while Kemba Walker has not fully recovered from the injury he sustained in the All-Star game last month. So how did the Celtics do in this 4 game stretch. Who is actually able to play right now for the Celtics and who is sidelined and for how long. More importantly has there been any chatter that we could see a move made in light of the major minutes the Celtics top 5 guys are playing and all the injuried they are battling? We will be joined by Matt Rury (@TeamGreenTruth on twitter) of the CLNS Post Game Show to discuss these stories and get his thoughts on if a move has to be made or not.
We are now just over a month and a half away from the end of the 2019/2020 Regular Season. The Celtics just finished the last Western Conference Road Trip of the season which saw them have to face Lebron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in a rematch of the January 20th games between the 2 teams which saw the Celtics blowout the Lakers. This game was also scheduled to take place the day before the memorial service for LA Lakers great Kobe Bryant was scheduled to take place at the Staples Center. The Celtics and Lakers last game took place just 1 day before the Lakers great would tragically die in a Helicopter accident. So how did this matchup of the 2 most historic franchises turn out. The Celtics also battled in the road trip the Portland Trailblazers, Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves 2 of the 3 teams are fighting for playoff positions while 1 team is lottery bound. So how did the Celtics do against those 3 Western Conference teams. Meanwhile whats the latest on the Celtics injury front. Prior to the All-Star Break the Celtics picked up a major victory without the services of Jaylen Brown and Robert Williams. Now that we are back from the All-Star Break are the 2 back in the lineup or are we still hearing they need more time to return? Meanwhile the Celtics are fighting with the Toronto Raptors for the 2nd seed and the right to avoid teams like the 76ers, Pacers or Miami Heat in round 1 of the playoffs. Prior to the break the Celtics were only 1 game behind the Raptors going into this tough stretch. Where do they stand now. Have the Celtics gained ground, fallen further behind or still sit 1 game back. We will be joined by
The NBA All-Star Break is here. The unofficial midway point of the NBA Season. Meaning we are just 2 months away from the end of the 2019-2020 Regular Season and the beginning of the 2020 NBA Playoffs and as usual the playoff picture is taking shape and people can start to get an idea of what teams are gonna be heading to the NBA Playoffs to battle for the right to become this years NBA Champion and which teams are headed to the NBA Draft Lottery. The Boston Celtics have been one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference this season and as they go into the All-Star Break they are in a battle with the Toronto Raptors for the 2nd seed in the East. Many experts seem to feel that in the East there are 2 things guaranteed about the playoffs. 1 that the Milwaukee Bucks will be the #1 seed and will be in the Eastern Conference Finals and that the team that gets the 2 seed will get the equivalent of an NFL 1st round bye alongside the Bucks based on the teams likely to finish in the 7th and 8th seed while the teams to finish 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th will all be in for a major battle for the right to move to the 2nd round. The Celtics and Raptors as of earlier this week both were on multiple game win streaks that were snapped just before the break as the Raptors had a 15 game win streak snapped in Brooklyn in their final game before the break. While the Celtics had a 7 game win streak snapped in their 2nd to last game which saw them lose to the Houston Rockets. So now most of the NBA's players and coaches are on a weeks vacation to rest up and try to heal up for the stretch run to the end of the season. Daniel and Igor will discuss the current standings in the East and West. How round 1 in the playoffs are shaping up with 2 months to go. Plus the latest on the injury front and how important the fist few games after the break will be. They will be joined by Rich Jensen (@RichAJensen on twitter) and Chris Langseth (@Hans02421 on twitter to discuss those topics)
Its been an emotional week for the NBA Fans, Teams and Players. On our last show we discussed the Celtics getting a big win over Lebron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the most recent meeting of the 2 most historic franchises in NBA History. Little did we know our joy of a 3 game win streak for the Celtics and their fans would change less then 24 hours after our last show. As the following day after our last show news broke that LA Lakers Superstar Kobe Bryant along with his 13 year old daughter aand 7 others died in a Helicopter accident out in LA. This accident took place just 8 hours prior to the Celtics taking on the New Orleans Pelicans. The Celtics would go into that game without the services of Enes Kanter and Jayson Tatum. The Celtics would go down by over 20 points in the game and ultimately lose 123-108 in a game that many of the players admitted they were not right mentally after hearing the news. 48 hours later the Celtics battled the Miami Heat in Miami. The Celtics would win 109-101 to move to 2-0 in the battle of 2 of the top 4 seeds in the East with the final 2 games of the season series in April. 2 nights later the Celtics took on the depleted Golden State Warriors defeating them 119-104 resulting in the Celtics sweeping the season series 2-0 from the Warriors. 2 nights later the Celtics would battle the Philadelphia 76ers for the 4th and final time in the regular season with the Celtics looking to avoid the season series sweep. The Celtics despite not having Kemba Walker and Enes Kanter were victorious 116-95 for their 1st win over the 76ers this season ending their season series 1-3 vs the 76ers. The Celtics saw Brown score 32 to lead the Celtics. We will discuss the big win over the 76ers and what it means for the playoff outlook. Plus the Kobe death impact with Chris Langseth (@Hans02421 on twitter) and Rich Conte (@richconte on twitter).
The Celtics in the past week played 4 games since out last show but none were bigger then the showdown with the new look Los Angeles Lakers. After losing to the Phoenix Suns 2 nights earlier while being shorthaned with 2 starters missing. The Celtics were back to having all key guys available as they welcomed the Lebron James, Anthony Davis and the Western Conference leading LA Lakers to town. Many saw this game as another big game/blowout win coming for Lebron and company based on the way the Lakers were playing coming into the game. Yet the Celtics delivered their best performance of the season. Coming out with their best 1st quarter in several weeks scoring 33 points en route to having a 33-30 lead after 1. The Celtics would then pull away in the 2nd quarter in route to a 14 point lead at halftime and the Celtics never looked back. The Celtics would end up going up by close to 30 points before the Lakers opted to finally waive the white flag and remove their starters. The Celtics would ultimately win by the final score of 139-107 delivering the Lakers their biggest loss of the season. The Celtics for the first time in a long time got a decent scoring output from all 4 of their top players as Hayward score 16 points, Kemba Walker and Jaylen Brown both score 20 and Jayson Tatum led the way with 27. The biggest win for the Celtics on the season. The Celtics 2 nights later would take on the Memphis Grizzlies in Boston. They would be without Jaylen Brown however. Despite Browns absence the Celtics would blowout the Grizzlies 119-95 however they would lose Tatum to a groin injury. 2 nights later the Celtics battled the Magic in Orlando but both Tatum and Brown were out. The Celtics won a narrow one 109-98. We will be joined by Bobby Krivitsky (@BobbyKrivitsky on twitter) and Kevin Dixon host of N The Zone Sports Radio. As we discuss the top stories from the 3 wins and other stories surrounding the team
Last night the Celtics took on the Milwaukee Bucks for the 2nd time this season. The Celtics went into the game with a bad taste in their mouth having lost the night before at home giving the Boston Fans a pathetic performance in a loss to the Detroit Pistons. The Celtics went into that game without the services of Jayson Tatum who was out due to an ankle injury. The Celtics would learn that Jaylen Brown would not be able to go for the Celtics against the Bucks due to a finger injury. The Celtics would get Jayson Tatum to return to action though. The Celtics came out of the game looking as though they were set to repeat what happened the night before. They came out flat, no ball movement, no defensive pressure and allow the Bucks to have their way with them from the get go the same way the Pistons did the night before and continuing a trend that has been going on for several weeks. The Bucks went up by as much as 26 points in the 1st half scoring 76 points in just 2 quarters of action in route to a 76-58 lead at halftime. The Celtics in the 2nd half did what they didnt do the night before which was wake up and put some effort in and raise their intensity as they made a run early in the 3rd to get the lead down to single digits before the Bucks took it back up to a 106-87 lead after 3 quarters. The Celtics in the 4th made another run making it it a 1 possession game before ultimately losing 128-123. This move made the Celtics now 1-1 in the season series against the Bucks while being 0-3 vs the 76ers so the Celtics are now 1-4 in 5 games vs the top 2 teams in the Eastern Conference. So what did this game prove. Did it prove Danny Ainge is gonna have to make a move of some sort prior to the trade deadline which is less then 3 weeks away? Did the comeback in the 2nd half prove Milwaukee may not be as big a challenge for Boston as Philly is. We discuss with Celtics Fan Andrew Vernon and Evan Valenti (@EvanValenti on twitter) who is the producer of Celtics Beat
For the 3rd time this season the Celtics did battle with the Philadelphia 76ers and for the 3rd time this season the Celtics were defeated. The Celtics last night took on the 76ers in Philadelphia. The Celtics were playing on the 2nd night of a back to back. However the 76ers would be forced to play without All-Star Center Joel Embiid while the Celtics were fully healthy. Despite the absence of Joel Embiid the Celtics were unable to prevent themselves from being beaten by the 76ers for the 3rd time this season and giving the 76ers the tiebreaker. The question must now be asked do the 76ers simply have the Celtics number and is this Celtics team capable of winning a potential playoff series against the 76ers without making a move to the roster. The Celtics the night before the loss to the 76ers lost to the San Antonio Spurs in Boston. Head Coach Brad Stevens opted not to rest any players and even though the Spurs spent most of the 2nd half up close to 20 points Brad Stevens opten not to waive the white flag until less then 6 minutes was left in the game. So can we now say its officially time to question Brad Stevens and if he is wrong for not putting enough importance on certain games which could play a bigger role in the standings later on in the season. What about the performances of the Celtics top 4 players in Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum, Gordon Hayward and Jaylen Brown. Did they put up a decent performance to show they are worthy of the max contracts. Or did they once again not show up for a game vs a top team. We will be joined by Kevin Dixon of N The Zone Sports Radio as we discuss the Philly loss and the Celtics struggles as of late overall
