Celtics Talk Radio Episode 313 Celtics sweep the Nets out of the playoffs

In what will be the final episode of Celtics Talk Radio here on Blogtalkradio.com before we move to our new platform. The Celtics Talk Radio Crew will recap the Celtics winning games 3 and 4 of their 1st round playoff series in Brooklyn, N.Y. which gave the Celtics a 4-0 series win over the Nets. The Celtics basically did what no one was expecting them to do which was sweep the Nets out of the playoffs and now the Celtics will move on to the 2nd round to play the Milwaukee Bucks. The Celtics in that 1st round made both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant look bad with their stiffling defense. As Kyrie Irving had 1 good game in game 1 and 3 straight bad games to end the series. While Kevin Durant had 3 bad games to start the series before having a good game in the win or go home game 4 but his performance wasnt enough to save the Nets. Meanwhile the duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown both played well in the 1st round with Tatum averaging nearly 30 points a game and Brown averaging nearly 23 a game. So what did the Celtics duo prove as they outplayed the duo of Kyrie and Durant in this series knowing most experts chose the Nets to win and yet it took only 4 games for Boston to send the Nets packing? The Celtics also got back Robert Williams after he missed over 3 weeks of action due to needing surgery which will be a big boost for the 2nd round series. How huge is it that Timelord is back and based on what we saw from Daniel Theis in round 1 should it be Theis who starts knowing Timelord is just returning from surgery or should Timelord get back into the starting lineup? Meanwhile the storylines out of this 1st round matchup will be talked about all off season. We will discuss our thoughts on the series win over the Nets and preview the 2nd round matchup with the Bucks alongside our 2 special guest Celtics Blog Contributor Mike Dynon (@MikeDynon on twitter) and CLNS Radios Celtics Pre and Postgame Host Matt Rury (@CLNS_Rury on twitter)

The NBA Playoffs are here. The Boston Celtics finished as the #2 seed in the Eastern Conference and for the 2nd year in a row will play in the 1st round the #7 seeded Brooklyn Nets. The Celtics of course will likely go throughout the entire series without the services of Robert Williams. Meanwhile the Brooklyn Nets reprts say could get the services of Ben Simmons for this matchup but that is still to be determined. The Celtics took the season series 3 games to 1. Of course throughout the regular season the Brooklyn Nets were hindered by the Covid-19 Restrictions that the City of New York had in place which prevented All-Star PG Kyrie Irving from playing in home games. Those restrictions have since been lifted and he will be able to play all games in this series. The winner of this series will take on the winner of the Milwaukee Bucks and the Chicago Bulls. Many Celtics fans seemed to want this matchup despite the fact it was arguably the hardest matchup of all 3 matchups the Celtics could end up with in round 1. So we will discuss and breakdown this matchup between the Celtics and Nets. We will discuss if fans made the right decision in wanting the Nets in round 1 rather then wanting the Chicago Bulls or Toronto Raptors. Also what happens if the Celtics lose this series to the Nets are fans seriously gonna try to justify the loss by saying Timelord was around so it doesnt mean nothing and would they be right or is there no excuse for losing in round 1 despite the fact its against the Nets. We will be joined by Bobby Krivitsky (@BobbyKrivitsky on twitter) NBA Reporter for Basketball Insiders

We have finally reach the end of the NBA Regular Season. The Boston Celtics after starting the regular season looking like they were destined to possibly be a play in tournament team. Or even a team that would be likely to miss the playoffs. The Celtics used a major 2nd half run to get themselves into the running for the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference. Proving that when healthy they could beat anyteam in the NBA giving fans hope that maybe an NBA Title could happen this season if the team actually played to their full potential. However the Celtics then lost Robert Williams III to an injury which could have him miss the 1st round of the playoffs. Questions about which of their players are vaccinated and which ones arent could make a potential matchup in round 1 with the Toronto Raptors even more difficult if that were to happen. So with just 1 day left in the NBA Regular Season schedule. What seed did the Celtics end up with? Are they still in a situation where they could move up or move down in the standings and if so what are those scenarios and who could the potential opponents be? What about the play in tournmanet matchups how are they shaping up. We will discuss all of this on the final Regular Season edition of Celtics Talk Radio

January 6th Celtics Fans. Do you remember that date Celtics Fans? It was a day that the Celtics lost to the New York Knicks 108-105 to fall to 18-21 and fell to the 11th spot in the Eastern Conference. After that game many Celtics fans talked about boycotting the season. Celtics insiders, reporters and analysts were questioning the heart and hustle of this team and said something needed to change and maybe Celtics GM Brad Stevens needed to blow it up. Ultimately something did happen ladies and gentleman however I dont think anybody was expecting what we have gotten. Its been 79 days since that loss at Madison Square Garden and the Boston Celtics have gone from a team that looked like they were destined for at best the play in tournament and a 1st round exit in the NBA Playoffs at the hands to one of the Eastern Conference Powerhouses to a team that is now fighting for the right to be the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. Yes your read that correctly the Boston Celtics could very well be your #1 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs this season. The Celtics are in the middle of a 4 team race for that #1 spot that features the Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks and the Philadelphia 76ers as the other 3 teams in the race. All 4 teams are literally seperated by just 2 games in the standings with the Miami Heat currently sitting as the #1 seed in the East. The Celtics and Heat both have 8 games remaining while the 76ers and Bucks have 9. So who will be your #1 seed in the Eastern Conference? What do the schedules for each of these teams look like and who has it the hardest and who has it the easiest? What about the tiebreaker scenarions for these 4 teams who has it against who? With 2 weeks left in the regular season how is the playoff picture shaping up in the East and West? Are any big name teams out of the running? We will discuss the current look of the playoffs with our special guest Mike Dynon of CelticsBlog.Com

The playoff race in the Eastern Conference is heating up with just under a month left in the NBA Regular Season. The Celtics have 13 games left on their schedule and right now have made many believe they have a legit shot to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals and possibly to the NBA Finals. The last 2 questions for some fans have been. Can the Celtics win it all and obviously will they win it all. The Celtics this week in a big week for Celtics Nation had a great chance to answer that first question of can the Celtics win it all. As they took on the Dallas Mavericks at TD Garden on the night that featured the Boston Celtics retiring Kevin Garnetts #5 jersey to the rafters and featured several members of the 2008 NBA Championship team including both Paul Pierce and Ray Allen appearing showing the issue between Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen is officially past them. Other players to make the trip to Boston included Kendrick Perkins, Eddie House, James Posey, Glen Davis, Leon Powe and of course Brian Scalabrine. Did the Celtics manage to win on the Big Day for the Big Ticket or did they let the Big Ticket and the fans down in the Big Moment? 3 days later the Celtics traveled to California to take on Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors in a potential NBA Finals matchup if the Celtics reach the finals. This match was the match that had many Celtics fans saying if you can beat them you can beat anyone in the Western Conference with the way the Golden State Warriors have been playing. So did the Celtics manage to knock off the Warriors? Did they lose but manage to atleast keep the game close meaning that if they do make it to the finals it can go either way? Or did the Warriors made a statement that the Celtics dont deserve to be on the same court with them when they are healthy? We will discuss this with our special guest Warren Shaw (@ShawSportsNBA on twitter) Host of NBA Baseline and Dope Interviews.

Could the Boston Celtics actually end up with the #1 spot in the Eastern Conference for the NBA Playoffs this season? Yes ladies an gentleman a question that not even the most positive minded fans would have thought to ask themselves might now have to start being questioned. The Celtics thanks to a dominant month of February where they won 11 of 13 games the Celtics went from being a team that was fighting just to earn the right to be in the Wild Card Pay In Tournament games. To now being just 4.5 games behind the Miami Heat for the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference and just 2 games behind the Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia 76ers for the #2 and #3 seeds and just 1 game back of the Milwaukee Bucks for the #4 seed. The Celtics will have a chance to make up a ton of ground in the coming week if they can win their next 2 games which will feature them facing the Brooklyn Nets and the Charlotte Hornets as all 4 teams in front of them will either be facing each other or some of the other top NBA Teams meaning they could lose while the Celtics are on their days off meaning the Celtics gain ground without doing any work. Sundays game with the Nets is the big game as the Celtics will face the Nets with both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving it is still questionable if Ben Simmons will play. This is the final time these 2 teams will meet during the regular season and we have yet to see these 2 teams play each other at full strength. So a win here for the Celtics if both teams are health would be huge for fans to have confidence going into the playoffs. The Celtics Talk Crew will be joined by Rich Conte OF TechLifePod will be with us as we look at the Celtics recent hot streak and discuss what should be the expectations now for this team especially if they do get that #1 seed? Would fans once again be letting them off the hook if they do get the #1 seed and the team fails to win it all? Who would be the best matchup in round 1 as we are 1 month away from the playoffs.

The NBA Trade Deadline has come and gone and now we have reached the NBA All-Star Break. The NBA returns to game action this Thursday where it will be full speed ahead to the NBA Playoffs. The Celtics at last weeks Trade Deadline finally made some moves to improve the roster and potentially the outlook of the team going forward and in return got Derrick White from the San Antonio Spurs and Daniel Theis from the Houston Rockets. We will look back at those deals and discuss the impact of those moves going forward and what Brad Stevens should be looking to do next to help the roster improve. Should he be looking at the buyout market or go after players who are waived in hopes of filling roster spots that are now open for the rest of the season and if so for who? The Celtics meanwhile during that deadline were on a winning streak that reached 9 games in a row. It started with their 107-97 win over the Pelicans on the road back on January 29th and finished with a 135-87 blowout win over Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers in Philadelphia. However the streak was then snapped by a 1 point loss to arguably the worst team in the league the Detroit Pistons 112-11 so which is the real Boston Celtics? The one who has lost often to the bad teams or the one who showed they can beat the good teams we discuss. During that streak both Marcus Smart and Robert Williams the III went down with injuries we give you the latest on them. Jaylen Brown was snubbed from the All-Star game it has made him play like a man on fire but did he deserve to go we discuss? Plus other top stories in the NBA like the PHI and BKN Trade. The Lakers lost Anthony Davis are they in trouble of missing the playoffs and would Celtics fans be satisfied with a 1st round exit for the C's if at the same time the Lakers dont make the playoffs? The Celtics and the rest of the NBA are just 5 days from the 12 days from the NBA All-Star Break. The Celtics in the previous week played 2 big games against teams that were ahead of them in the standings hoping to show Celtics GM Brad Stevens and Celtics Nation that maybe they have what it takes to make a playoff run and not to make any big trades at the deadline which is February 10th 3PM ET. The Celtics played both the Miami Heat who were the #1 seeded team in the Eastern Conference. Then the Charlotte Hornets who are the #7 seeded team in the East. The Celtics went into both games healthy while both of their opponents went into the games missing players giving the Celtics an advantage. The Celtics managed to beat both those teams and the results had many saying the team is looking much better and playing the way they should BUT we arent sold yet on them cause of the players who were missing or its only 2 games. So do our host agree with them or not? Meanwhile during the last week Steve Bulpett of Heavy.com reported that Jaylen Brown could be willing to leave the team if the team didnt start to live up to their potential as he would feel at that point its just not the right fit. This has had many Boston Sports reporters and Celtics Insiders questioning would and should the team now start considering the idea of trading Jaylen Brown sooner rather then later rather then risking another Kyrie Irving type situation where you lose the superstar for nothing. The Celtics Talk Crew discusses that major topic plus the last week of action and what we expect at the trade deadline on this edition of Celtics Talk Radio

DECISIONS. DECISIONS. We are nearing the February 10th date where many have felt that the Boston Celtics management will officially let all of Celtics Nation know if they are putting all their chips in to try and be a title contender this season or if they are waiving the white flag for this season and will wait atleast another season and try maybe to make next season the year where they fulfill the promise they made to the Celtics fans by joining the ranks of the NBA's Elite and become an NBA powerhouse who has a legit shot to win an NBA Championship. February 10th is the NBA Trade Deadline. Rumors have been spreading around the leage according to insiders saying that the Celtics have made every players on the team available except for Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Robert Williams. The Celtics could opt to put all thei chips in and try and get another player or 2 who could help the team and try and make a run for the playoffs and see what happens this season by using players we got a chips and trade exceptions we got. Or they could waive the white flag and have a yard sale and start sending away some of the stars we got in exchange for players who Celtics fans know will not likely be with the team next season in the hopes of making this offseason more of a blockbuster offseason. So where do we stand on Saturday January 29th as the team prepares to take on the Pelicans in 1 hour. Have any moves been made that could tell us the direction their going. If so what impact does it have on this upcoming offseason. We will discuss that and more on todays edition of Celtics Talk Radio

The Celtics took on the Philadelphia 76ers last night looking to win their 4th game in a row to try and get their record to a 22-21 record. Meaning they just played their 43rd game of the season. Meaning they have officially played more then half of their 82 game schedule. Meaning the Celtics time to try and make a run for a top seed in the Eastern Conference is starting to get shorter and shorter. So where do they stand in the standings? Do they look like a championship team or do they once again look like a team destined to let Celtics Nation down? We discuss where the team sits in the standings. Also knowing they now have less then half their games left before the season ends and based on where the team is in the standings we discuss how much longer can the team delay before making the big decision which is to either make a massive change to the roster and make a playoff push or tank the rest of the season and try to get a decent asset for the trade market this summer but dont fight just to waste your time fighting with the roster you got just to be a team that just misses the playoffs or is a 1st round exit team cause your a play in tournament team. Happy New Years Celtics fans from your Celtics Talk crew. The Boston Celtics gave their fans something to start the celebrating early on New Years Eve. When they took on the NBA's top team in the Phoenix Suns. With both teams missing key players the celtics were victorious after going up by 30 points in the 1st half in route to a 123-108 win. This win was viewed by many insiders as the Celtics best win of the season. However many of those insiders also said that fans should put their foot on the brakes and wait to see what would happen in the Celtics next game because if the team had a letdown and lost then the win over the Suns would mean nothing. Sure enough the Celtics in their next game against the 2nd worst team in the NBA blew double digit 1st half lead to ultimately go down by double digits. The Celtics would trail by 12 points with just over 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter before they mounted a comeback to force overtime and would win it 116-111. So with 2 wins in a row including a win over the Suns. What are we looking at now from this team as they start this month where out of 15 games the Celtics are slated to play 10 games will feature an opponent who is currently behind the Celtics in the standings. Meaning if the Celtics can take advantage of these weaker teams which is something they have not shown themselves to be able to do thus far thie season they could make some progress in the Eastern Conference standings. Also we got 1 month left before the trade deadline which also means Celtics GM Brad Stevens, Head Coach Ime Udoka and other Celtics management must make their final decisions over the next month as to BUY or SALE players on the current roster for the playoff run. We will be joined by Rich Conte (richconte on twitter) as we discuss the last 2 games as well as what the team must do in the next month before the deadline

The Celtics finished their 5 game Western Conference Road Trip last night by facing the defending Western Conference Champion Phoenix Suns. The Celtics on the road trip took on the Jazz, Trailblazers, Lakers, Clippers and Suns which included 2 back to backs (Jazz/Trailblazers, Lakers/Clippers). The Celtics started the trip losing to the Jazz 137-130. They rebounded the next night beating the Trailblazers 145-117. The Celtics had 2 days off before taking on the arch rival Lakers in LA and would go on to lose that one 117-102 in a game that saw the Celtics keep the game close in the 1st half before Lebron and company blew the game open in the 2nd half. The very next night the Celtics would take on the Clippers who played without their top 2 players in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George and yet the Celtics still lost 114-111. The Celtics would then have a day off before taking on the Phoenix Suns. The Celtics would take on the Suns in a game that would see the Celtics again play an opponent missing a key piece of their roster as the Suns were missing All-Star Devin Booker but the Celtics would again be missing Jaylen Brown as he would be missing his 5th straight game. The Celtics would keep the game close in the 1st quarter before the Suns pulled away in the 2nd. Jayson Tatum and Dennis Schroder were the only 2 players who showed any fight in the game last night. Not putting up a fight and having a lack of energy or will to compete was a major trend in this 5 game stretch where the Celtics went 1-4 without Brown where their only win was a 28 point win over the Trailblazers who didnt have Damian Lillard. The Celtics in this road trip lost to a Clippers team missing Kawhi Leonard and Paul George and a Suns team missing Devin Booker while having the best player on the floor in Jayson Tatum. We discuss the 5 game road trip with Mike Dynon (@MikeDynon on twitter) as well as let you hear the frustration many celtics experts are now having with the team via our audios

The Boston Celtics took on the Brooklyn Nets Wednesday night at the TD Garden in Boston. It was a game that many took as a measuring stick to see if this years version of the Boston Celtics could hang with the Eastern Conferences best team and truly be viewed as a threat to come out of the Eastern Conference. Yet despite the Brooklyn Nets still missing Kyrie Irving meaning both teams were playing with 2 Stars meaning the matchup should be easier for the Celtics. The Brooklyn Nets made the game a 1 sided affair going up by as much as 29 points in route to a 123-104 win. This game saw the Celtics players fighting with the refs over what many inluding even the broadcast team saw as questionable officiating being done in favor of the Nets throughout the game. The Celtics taking a ton of 3 pointers which pretty much caused them to shoot themselves out of the game from beyond the arc as they took 48 3 pointers and make only 11 of them. It also saw the Celtics dynamic duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown both struggle to live up to the Superstar status that many Celtics fans seem to be giving them as the duo combined scored only 28 points on 9/31 shooting in a combined 54 minutes. So we will discuss this loss and the lack of production we saw from the Celtics 2 golden boys. Also what was being said about the officiating during and after the game by the broadcasters and the celtics players and coach Ime Udoka. Should we take this 1st matchup and throw it away knowing players from both teams who would play come playoff time were missing plus 1 key player was hobbled despite being on the floor. The Celtics last night were scheduled to take on the defending NBA Champion Milwaukee Bucks for the 1st time this season. However the game was far from the spectacle every was hoping to see as major names from both teams were missing which left the anticipation for the game at a much more lower level. The Celtics were already with Jaylen Brown for 2 games and knew he wasn't gonna play in this game as he is expected to remain out a few more games. Yet despite Browns absence people seemed to feel the Celtics were playing better without him. Meanwhile the Bucks were coming into this game with Khris Middleton who had missed 6 straight and Brook Lopez who had missed 11 straight both expected to be out. Then 1 hour before tip off Giannis Antetokounmpo was ruled out as well meaning the Bucks would be without 3 of their starting 5 players. You would think the Celtics would have this game in hand and it would be rather easy knowing they still had Jayson Tatum to lead the way right? NOPE. The celtics would come away with the win but the Celtics would end up allowing the injury riddled Milwaukee Bucks team to forced them all the way into overtime before they finally said enough is enough and would put them away. The Celtics needed a monster performance from Dennish Schroder in order this win this game as Schroder scored 38 points on 16/27 shooting in 41 minutes while Tatum added 27 points, Smart had 19 and Timelord added 12. Schroder was honored with an M.V.P chant as he took free throws late in the OT for his performance as Schroder was the difference maker for the Celtics in this game but many feel the fact the Celtics even were in the position to lose this game ws a bad look on their part. So we will discuss this game and that very topic with our special guest Bobby Krivitsky (@BobbyKrivitsky on twitter) who will join us.

A game where the Celtics trailed by 9 points with less then 5 minutes to go before mounting a comeback to force ovetime and win the game by 11 by the final score of 140-129. The Celtics 2 nights later would welcome the Washington Wizards to Boston. Of course this game was a game that had TD Garden fans looking to try and do their magic and entire Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal to want to come to Boston as there are rumors linking him to the C's but of course the Celtics were looking to finally get over the 500 mark by moving to 3-2. Instead after seeing his team in the pregame walkaround showing signs that they didnt have the right energy needed to beat the Wizards and him even saying it to the Celtics players faces the Celtics would show up at the start of the game without focusing much on defense. A lot of headlines came out of this game. Then 2 days laters as we started this show the Celtics we thought the Celtics would be done playing instead they would be doing battle with the Wizard again this time from Washington. Then just as our show was starting the Celtics were in a close battle with the Wizards again that went to Overtime this time in Washington which our co-host Daniel was giving a play by play for those to hear what was going on while they discussed other topics about the game during the timeouts. Ultimately the Celtics would lose 115-112 to fall to 2-4 on the season. So what the heck is up with this team and their lack of defensive intensity? What about the fact that Ime Udoka is able to tell the team he sees a problem before a game and they still dont respond to correct it before the game starts? The Celtics Talk Radio Crew Review the Celtics 4 game Preseason and look towards opening night. The Celtics Preseason started off with them going 2-0 after they beat the Orlando Magic 98-97 and then the Toronto Raptors 113-111. Then the Celtics would go on to lose their last 2 preseason games first to the Orlando Magic 103-102 and then the preseason finale to the Miami Heat 121-100. Putting them at the final record of 2-2 during the preseason. The Celtics during the preseason lost both Jaylen Brown and Al Horford who were both diagnosed with Covid 19 and had to go into quarantine. Meawhile the Celtics also had an issue with starting guard Marcus Smart as he missed the team flight to Miami which resulted in Celtics coach Ime Udoka suspending Smart for the Heat game even though it was reported he and the other stars werent likely to play in the game. So now the team looks towards the season opener on Wednesday against the New York Knicks. Due to the fact that the main players didnt play in the Miami game it is still a question as to who will Ime Udoka choose to have as his starting 5 outside of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Will Al Horford or Timelord start at Center or will he choose to start them both and let Horford be the PF and Timelord be the C and go with 3 small players rather then going with the way the NBA has kinda been trending which is the 4 small and 1 big lineup? Is Smarts spot in the lineup or any of his minutes in jeopardy with players like Dennis Schroder and Jason Richardson here now? Who will the 2nd lineup consist of? We give our thoughts on those questions in this final before the season edition of Celtics Talk Radio

However this will not be any ordinary training camp as the Celtics have quite a bit of work to do before their opening night game against the New York Knicks on October 20th. The Celtics players now have to gel with newly hired head coach Ime Udoka. All-Stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown now have to work in all of their new teammates into the pecking order alongside their new head coach based on the type of system the 3 decided is best for the team to have this season. Meanwhile there are several questions that could be answered during training camp. What 5 players will Ime Udoka have for his starting 5 as outside of Tatum and Brown the other 3 spots are pretty much up for grabs? What about the bench will Ime Udoka make a 5 man rotation for the bench and stick to those 5 being the group that plays or will he be more of a 1 player this night 1 player that night type person? What have the Celtics 2 stars done to improve themselves during the offseason we have seen photos showing Jayson Tatum has gained a lot of muscle possibly to bang with some of the bigger players in the league whats his reasoning and is it true? There are many questions that Celtics fans want answered before that October 20 game and we will look to talk about a few of the big questions tonight. Celtics Nation now knows when and where they will get to see this years Celtics team play and now its time for the Celtics Talk Crew to break down the schedule and give their thoughts on how diffucult of a schedule the league gave our boys in green and the key dates for the Celtics fans to keep an eye out for. The Celtics will open up the season on October 20th in New York against the Knicks. The Celtics will start the season with an 11 game stretch from October 20th to November 10th where only 2 games will feature teams who finished ahead of the Celtics in last years standings. It will be crucial for the Celtics to gel as quickly as possibly in that 11 game stretch as they begin a month and a half stretch on November 12th where they will run a gauntlet facing several of the leagues top teams all the way till the end of the 2021 calender year which could truly put them in a nice spot in the standings if they win most of those games or in bad position if they lose most of them. That month and a half span features 25 games which includes 3 games vs the Bucks, 2 vs the Suns, 2 vs the Clippers, 1 vs the Hawks, 2 vs the Lakers, 1 vs the Nets, 1 vs the Spurs, 1 vs the Raptors, 2 vs the 76ers, 1 vs the Jazz, 1 vs the Blazers, 1 vs the Warriors, 1 vs Knicks. The Celtics will have 5 back to backs in that span vs MIL @ CLE, vs LAL vs OKC, @ UTAH @ POR, @ LAL @ LAC, vs GS vs NYK. The Celtics schedule will get easier once they get to January, The Celtics will play 15 back to backs and only 3 of them will be without travel included the league average is 13.5 back to backs. The Celtics will play the Bulls, Heat, Cavs and Magic 3 times instead of 4 times. The Celtics in total will travel 43,000 miles this season which is 3,000 more then the Eastern Conference Average. So we will discuss this schedule and any other key dates that have been revealed for fans.

The NBA Free Agency Period is underway and boy there have been some big time signging for the Championship contenders. However one contender that has not fallen in that bracket of making a big time deal has been the Boston Celtics. Several insiders have reported the Celtics seem content to focus on signing players who would accept 1 year deals so like that the Celtics would preserve all the cap space they would have in the summer of 2022. Due to this the Celtics have lost Evan Fournier in free agency and thus far have signed only 1 player in former Celtics center Enes Kanter. So what is it the Celtics could be planning for next summer that they were willing to lose Evan Fournier and appear to be willing to waive the white flag on this season in order to accomplish. Meanwhile what about the other teams the Celtics have been expected to contend with like the Nets, Lakers, Bucks, 76ers and Raptors. Did those teams jump way ahead of the Celtics with any moves early in free agency hence the rich get richer of did they lose key players? Meanwhile the Celtics had contract discussions with Marcus Smart despite Smart not being a free agent until next summer which has people questioning what the Celtics might be planning for Smarts future if he was to sign on the dotted line? So we will discuss all of that plus anything else that has gone on in the first week of NBA Free Agency on todays show

Celtics Gm Brad Stevens game stars Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart the right to impact who would be their next head coach after reports of turmoil in the locker room under his leadership last season. The players chose Brooklyn Nets assistant Ime Udoka who already has experienced coaching the 3 stars as he was an assistant coach for Team USA for the Fiba World Cup in 2019 which Smart, Tatum and Brown all participated. This move gives the Celtics a coach of color which many felt was gonna happen and was likely something players were gonna force due to the current issues in the country and the fact the NBA players are trying to send a political message which only intensified after the incident with Brooklyn Nets star point guard Kyrie Irving in the Celtics 1st round playoff loss in game 4 of the NBA Playoffs. So with this move now officially in the books how does the Celtics Talk Radio Crew feel about it? Do they feel Ime Udoka was the best option available knowing the issues that have been reporting regarding the players on the roster or did the ownership and Brad Stevens give in to the players demands too easily? What about expectations now since this is the coach the players chose should expectations be lifted for this team going foward meaning if they fail the coach can no longer be blamed? What about the issue of free agency in a month you now no longer have Ainge as your GM, you got a black coach instead of a white one which seems to be a something the NBA Players care about now a days will Brad Stevens now be able to make moves compared to what Ainge did? What about our top stars are they now willing to recruit or will they still say thats not their jobs like Tatum recently did?  We try to discuss all of it in 3 hours and let you hear what insiders are saying on tonights Celtics Talk Radio. The Boston Celtics season has officially come to an end and now an offseason officially filled with a ton of questions is upon us. The offseason got off to a hot start this past Wednesday when Celtics GM Danny Ainge announced he would be stepping down from his position and Head Coach Brad Stevens would be getting promoted from his position to take over the GM position meaning that on top of the team needed a complete make over to try and get back into contention for an NBA Championship. The team now has to deal with getting a new Head Coach. Which of course now begs the question for many fans who will that new head coach be and will the new head coach be able to win over the stars of the team who reportedly Head Coach Brad Stevens lost as the voice of the locker room. Meanwhile on our last show the Celtics had just won game 3 to make it a 2-1 series lead for BKN. The Celtics would then lose the nex 2 games to have their season ended. With game 4 being in Boston with the top story from that game being the incidents that occurred after the game where former Celtics PG now BKN Nets PG Kyrie Irving went to the center of the Celtics court and stomped on the Celtics logo and then smeared his foot as to indicate he was cleaning crap off his foot which caused Celtics fans to take exception then as he walked off the court a fan threw a water bottle at him which then allowed him and fellow superstar Kevin Durant to say Celtics fans are racist. The outrage for both incident was enough that former players including Celtics greats like Cedric Maxwell and KG responded outraged at what happened. So we will give our final thoughts on this season. Adam Taylor of CelticsBlog (@AdamTaylorNBA on Twitter will join us). How do we feel about how the season ended? What about the incident involving Kyrie Irving stomping on the logo and the fan throwing the bottle? Does Brad Stevens need to cater to Tatum and Brown this summer and get their opinions in the next moves?

The Boston Celtics Friday night got their 1st win over the Brooklyn Nets this season returning to Boston facing an 0-2 defecit looking to avoid and 0-3 defecit to the Brooklyn Nets and now the series is the Nets 2 the Celtics 1 going into Sundays Game 4. The Celtics win 125-119 as Jayson Tatum led the Celtics scoring 50 points outscoring Nets leading score James Harden who had 41. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving combined for 55 points (Durant 39, Irving 16) in what was Irvings 1st game back in Boston with fans allowed inside the TD Garden. While Tristan Thompson, Marcus Smart and Evan Fournier combined for 59 points (17 Fournier, 19 Thompson, 23 Smart). The win featured the Nets coming out and quickly going up 19-4 making Celtics fans think the team was in for a blowout before a timeout called by head coach Brad Stevens allowed the Celtics to get their heads right and Tatum finally took over. So this sets up a huge game Sunday night where if the Celtics win the series is tied and will guarantee a game 6 in the series while a Nets win means they can eliminate the Celtics when the series shifts back to Brooklyn. Meanwhile during game 3 another thing everyone was looking to keep an eye on was the behavior of the Boston Celtics fans and how they would treat Kyrie Irving. As this was the 1st game that the Nets PG would play in Boston with fans in attendance since he opted to break the promise he made to Celtics fans a few years ago when he said he intended to resign with Boston. Of course Kyrie Irving made things more interesting with his comments of fans in Boston being racists and saying he hoped the fans could keep it clean without any racial comments dealt his way. So what about the reaction towards Kyrie did fans pass in their 1st test since his remarks what could happen Sunday night when the TD Garden will be at full capacity. The Boston Celtics defeated the Washington Wizards 118-100 Tuesday night in game 1 of the NBA's Play in Tournament and their reward a matchup with the Brooklyn Nets in the 1st round of the NBA Playoffs. Jayson Tatum scored 50 points in that game while Kemba Walker added 29 points and Tristan Thompson had 12 off the bench. Now the Celtics starting Saturday night at 8PM ET will face a Brooklyn Nets team that went 3-0 against the Celtics this season winning by score of 123-95 on Christmas Day, 121-109 on March 11th and 109-104 on April 23rd. Obviously this series is totally different then what we saw in the regular season as during the regular season not one of those matchups saw the Celtics face the Nets with the Nets having Harden, Durant and Kyrie all on the floor together. Meanwhile the Celtics had Jaylen Brown in the Christmas and March 11th games but will not have Jaylen Brown for the remainder of this season as we reported on our last show meaning if the Celtics are gonna somehow get past the Brooklyn Nets they will need to do so without Jaylen Brown. So on tonights show we will preview that series with the Brooklyn Nets. We will discuss was this is a good idea for the Celtics to actually fight for the right to enter the NBA Playoffs as some fans feel with the loss of Jaylen Brown it was a foregone conclusion you would not beat either Brooklyn of Philadelphia in round 1 so would Boston had been better off losing the Play In Tournament and going into the Lottery then playing a few more games and now having to accept losing to former teammate Kyrie Irving and his new team? What about the actual schedule for this series. We will announce it for those who follow our show but are not members of our group. Also what are the NBA Experts saying as of right now for this series is anyone giving Boston a chance to win this series or is it all Brooklyn and all in 4 games. We will discuss

Celtics fan hopes that the team would do something big once the NBA Playoffs roled around come next week may have evaporated over the last week and now Celtics fans might just have to start thinking about next season. On last weeks edition of Celtics Talk Radio the Celtics were sitting in sole possession of 6th place in the Eastern Conference 1 game ahead of the Miami Heat with 2 matchups against Miami coming up in the next week that could determine who would be the 6th and final team to get a top 6 seed in the Eastern Conference. Since that show things went as bad as any one could have imagined for the Celtics. As the Celtics not only lose both games to the Miami Heat giving the Heat the season series hence giving them the tiebreaker and locking them in as a top 6 seed but the Celtic also lost Jaylen Brown to a season ending injury which now makes it where the Celtics will have to go to the NBA's play in tournament knowing they will have to win a game against 1 of 4 different opponents without JAylen Browns services just to then earn the right to face either the Philadelphia 76ers or the Brooklyn Nets or the Milwaukee Bucks in round 1 of the NBA Playoffs and if the Celtics can not win 1 game then their season will end without seeing a best of 7 playoff series this season. We will be joined by Warren Shaw (@ShawSportsNBA on twitter) co-host of the NBA-Baseline Podcast. As we discuss what should be the reasonable expectations now that Jaylen Brown is out. Should we atleast expect the team to get out of the Play In Tournament or should fans be satisfied they atleast made it to the Play In Tournament. We are going into our final full week of the NBA Regular Season. The Celtics have 5 games left and know they will be seeing some action in the NBA Playoffs the only question is will their NBA Playoff path start with a 1st round best of 7 playoff series via the 3/6 or 4/5 match or will they end up in a play in tournament knowing that their reward for winning that tournament is a playoff series with either the #1 seed or #2 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics now sit at 35-32 and 7th in the Eastern Conference which is the top spot in that play in tournament but the Celtics are just 1 game back of the 6th seeded Miami Heat for the last spot that guarantees that you avoid that play in tournament and get a 1st round best of 7 matchup with 2 games against the Heat schedule this upcoming week. Literally the next 2 games for the Boston Celtics which will be home games for the Celtics against the Miami Heat could very well determine the Celtics entire playoff path depending on what happens also with the New York Knicks as well as the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets in the next week. The Celtics are still within shouting distance of the Knicks and Hawks who occupy the 4th and 5th seeds however only the #1 seed appears to be set in stone with the 76ers. The Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets are tied with 5 games to go for the 2nd and 3rd seeds meaning if Celtics fans want a specific 1st round matchup theres almost no way to know which seed to grab to guarantee it at this point. No Durant, No James Harden, Kyrie Irving only scores 15 vs the Celtics without Jaylen Brown, Kemba Walker and Jayson Tatum scores 38 you would think Boston has the game. NOT SO FAST LADIES AND GENTLEMAN. The Celtics had that happen Friday night and sure enough it was proven that there is no game that is a guaranteed win with them as the Celtics were defeated 109-104 giving the Brooklyn Nets a 3-0 Season Series sweep making it that the Celtics finished all their games against the Eastern Conferences top 3 teams with no wins against the top 2 seeds in the 76ers and the Nets and a 2-1 record against the Milwaukee Bucks. Many expected the Celtics to lose this game to begin with as the Celtics were playing a rested Nets team while the Celtics were on the 2nd night of a back to back. Both sides were missing key players which was a theme in all 3 matchups this season. So the Celtics finished the last week at 2-2 beating the Warriors and the Suns but losing to the Bulls and the Nets. How should we feel about this team now knowing theres only 3 weeks left before the NBA Playoffs begin and the team has injuries to several players specifically key players and now the Celtics now have shown if they have any chance of getting beyond the 2nd round its because they somehow get matched up with the Milwaukee Bucks. Also with 3 weeks left its time to be focusing on the standings and making moves to think about the playoff matchups. The Celtics sit in the 6th seed and are fighting to avoid falling into the 7 through 10 spots as that would make them get into the play in tournamet and would force a potential 1st round matchup with Philly or Brooklyn at this point. Which matchup should the Celtics be aiming for. We discuss with our special guest Mike Dynon (@MikeDynon on twitter, Writer for RedsArmy.com

The Celtics on our last show were fresh off getting beaten by the 76ers for the 3rd and final time in the regular season giving the 76ers the knowledge that they will be undefeated against the Celtics if they meet in the playoffs. The team was being called out by fans and NBA Analysts for not getting the job done a single time and since then have now played 5 games. The first 2 we discussed on our last show which were a 145-136 OT win over the Timberwolves and a 101-99 win over the Knicks. Since our last show the Celtics went on a 3 game Western Conference Road trip which saw them play 3 of the better teams in the Western Conference in the Nuggets, Trailblazers and Lakers. The Celtics managed to keep the win streak alive by defeating the Denver Nuggets in the Road Trip opener 105-87 where despite trailing going into the 4th the Celtics used a 31-8 4th quarter advantage to blow out the Nuggets. This game saw all 4 Boston Starters score in double figures. Then 2 nights later the Celtics were victorious 116-115 over the Portland Trailblazers in a game that saw both teams keep it close with the largest lead being only 9 points and once again all 5 Boston starters scored in double digits this time with atleast 13 points a piece. 2 nights later the Celtics took on the Lakers in a game that saw the Lakers play without Lebron James and Anthony Davis as well as a number of their main players. The Celtics managed to go up by close to 30 before ultimately Brad Stevens opted to take out their main players and placed the 3rd unit in and saw in a span of 5 minutes the game transformed to a 2 possession game before Brad Stevens had to send out members of the 1st and 2nd unit to finish the job for the last 2 minutes of the game. We will be joined by Adam Taylor (@AdamTaylorNBA on twitter) of CelticsBlog as we discuss the last 3 games. Did the 3rd unit proved they shouldnt see the floor no more? The Boston Celtics did battle with the Philadelphia 76ers for the 3rd and final time in the 2020-2021 NBA Regular Season. This would be the 1st time this season the Celtics would play the 76ers with all of their main stars available as in the previous 2 meetings the Celtics had to play without the services of Jayson Tatum but they did still have Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart in both of the first 2 matchups. After losing the first 2 matchups by a combined 20 points the Celtics would go into this game knowing it would be their last chance to prove to their fanbase they can beat this years verson of Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers. However despite movie being filmed in a new location with some new supporting stars the main stars for Philly again outshined the main stars for Boston in this 3rd and final matchup as the 76ers were victorious 106-96 in a game that saw the 76ers outscore the Celtics by 13 points at the free throw line as the 76ers took more then double the free throws that the Cetics took as the 76ers took 39 free throws making 29 of them while the Celtics took only 18 free throws making 16. So now how should Celtics fans feel about the Celtics. When looking at the 3 main teams in the Eastern Conference in the Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks the Celtics are now 2-6 having lost all 3 games to the 76ers with no more matchups to go, winning the season series over the Milwaukee Bucks with 2 wins to 1 loss, then the Celtics have 1 more game to go with the Nets having lost both games already this season. So with Bobby Krivitsky we will discuss the last week of Boston Celtics action including that loss to the 76ers and discuss where the Celtics now stand in the Eastern Conference and if it may just be time for fans to accept that we are likely headed for the play in tournament rather then a top 4 seed in the East

The NBA Trade Deadline passed this past Thursday with the Celtics making 2 deals before the deadline. The 2 moves had Celtics fans going at it with each other on whether they liked or hated the moves but also had Celtics/NBA insiders and Reporters viewing the moves as Danny Ainges way of saying he is giving up on the season and is already looking towards the 2021/2022 NBA Season. The Celtics this past Wednesday night played the Milwaukee Bucks with several players on the team wondering if they were playing in their final game as members of the Boston Celtics 1 of those players being Marcus Smart whos name was rumoed to be moved to Orlando for Aaron Gordon. The Celtics had their chance to win at the buzzard but a wide open 3 by Daniel Theis in the corner hit the back of the rim and bounced out sealing a 2 point win for the Bucks. The next afternoon Danny Ainge made a trade for soon to be free agent Guard Evan Fournier. The Celtics in exchange sent 2 2nd round picks to Orlando and 17.5 Million out of the 28 million dollar Gordon Hayward TPE. Danny Ainge ultimately finished his day with a 3 team trade sending Celtics starting C Daniel Theis to Chicago and backup PG Jeff Teague and G Javonte Green to Washington in exchange for soon to be free agents C Luke Kornet and F Moritz Wagner. This deal was the Celtics way of getting themselves under the Tax line and it was reported it was likely Ainge would not add any more players the rest of the season. The next night it was Celtics vs Bucks round 2. The Celtics started Robert Williams at Center and it seemed like a new team with more energy and Boston won 122-114. So how do we feel about the moves? Did Danny Ainge officially give up and what are the media members saying about his decision and how is it likely gonna impact the future? The Boston Celtics and the rest of the NBA are just 5 days away from the NBA Trade Deadline and Boston fans have GM Danny Ainge, Head Coach Brad Stevens and the Celtics players on the hot seats as the Celtics for the 2nd time in less then 2 months have now fallen under the 500 mark after losing 4 of their first 5 games since the All-Star Break and now are looking more like a team who will have to earn their playoff spot in the play in tournament by finishing in the 7th through 10th spot rather then being a top 6th seed to avoid that chaos. Many thought the team had corrected themselves with their winning streak prior to the All-Star Break and that getting Marcus Smart back would only make things better. WRONG. If anything things appear to have gotten worse as the Celtics in the last week lost 3 games. 1 to the NBA's best team in the Utah Jazz then 2 games to non playoff contenders in the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Sacrament Kings. This now has fans and NBA/Celtics Analysts questioning the hearts of the players, whether its worth even making any moves to try and improve this roster? If Ainge and Brad Stevens need to BLOW IT UP and start from scratch and much more. Danny Ainge has 5 days to make his decision on whether he thinks this years team is even worth investing any assets in or if he feels its better to hold of and wait to see if he can make an even better team next year where hopefully things in the East wont be so loaded either. The 2nd half of the NBA Season is now officially underway. The Celtics have played only 1 game since the returning from the All-Star Break which was their 2nd showdown with the Brooklyn Nets of the season. The Celtics took on the Brooklyn Nets back on Christmas Day in a matchup that saw the Nets destroy the Celtics on the TD Garden floor 123-95 this was only the 2nd game of the season which of course saw the Celtics playing without starting PG Kemba Walker. Since then we have seen things change for both the Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets. The Celtics have ended up dealing with multiple injuries and have found themselves in the middle of the pack in the Eastern Conference. While the Brooklyn Nets have remained near the top of the Eastern Conference fighting with the 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks for the #1 overall seed while also making trades and free agency signings to add even more talent. The Nets had added James Harden to form their own Superstar Big 3 and just recently added former Superstar Blake Griffin to the roster. So how did the Celtics fair in this 2nd showdown with the Brooklyn Nets. Did the Celtics manage to pick up the win which means now the 2 squards are tied at 1-1 in the season series with 1 game left on April 23rd and could make some people believe we maybe Boston has a shot to be a title contender after all. Or did Brooklyn outshine the Celtics for the 2nd time and clinch the season series. What about the latest reports on the upcoming Trade Deadline which is now less then 2 weeks away. Will the Celtics even make the NBA Playoffs and if they do will it even be worth it rather then maybe tanking the 2nd half of the season for a high draft pick? Yes the Celtics truly hit ROCK BOTTOM this. After Celtics GM Danny Ainge took to the Radio Airways in Boston last week and said the team wasnt a title contender. The Celtics rather then responding to the comments from their GM with some good performances only ended up proving that Ainge might have been telling the truth as they went on a 3 game losing streak on their 3 game road trip. Losing to the Pelicans, Mavericks and Hawks to finish off their last road trip of the 1st half part of the season schedule and falling 2 games under 500. After losing to the Pelicans and Mavericks and just a few hours before the loss to the Hawks Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck took to the airways and followed in Danny Ainges footsteps by saying the team isnt a title contender. That same night the Celtics ended the road trip getting blown out by the Atlanta Hawks in a game that saw the Hawks go up by as much as 27 points in route to a 127-112 win. The Celtics 1st game after all these comments were made by the team, staff, coaching and management saw the Celtics take on the runner up in last years Western Conference Finals in the Denver Nuggets. The Celtics came away with a 112-99 win over the Nuggets despite the Nuggets getting 43 points from MVP candidate Nikola Jokic. The Celtics won the battle of the benches 30-14 which made all the difference in this battle of 2 of last years final 4 teams in the NBA Playoffs. The Celtics would then host the Atlanta Hawks in a 2 game mini series to finish off the 3 game homestand. Outside of a 122-108 loss to the League Leading Utah Jazz the Celtics with a few possession going 1 way or the other could have ended up with a 0-5 road trip or a 4-1 road trip. The Celtics came home to faceoff with their division rivals the Toronto Raptors for the 2nd time this season. This matchip showed the bad blood that was shown between the 2 teams in last years NBA Playoffs hasnt stopped boiling as we saw several hits to the head, players being laid out, constant complaining to the refs looking for foul calls, However there was one thing that also remained the same from last years playoff matchup. The Celtics walked away victorious with a 120-106 victory in which the Celtics saw a change to the starting lineup as Brad Stevens removed Grant Williams and inserted Semi Ojeleye and it resuled in Semi scoring 24 points for the Celtics. Payton Pritchard was the 2nd highest scorer for the Celtics coming off the bench and the Celtics had 30 assists on the night with Celtics stars Tatum and Brown combining for 19 of the 30. The Celtics still remain without Marcus Smart and despite the bad West Coach Trip still sit in a tight race with the Brooklyn Nets and the Indiana Pacers for the 3rd, 4th and 5th seeds. Reports have come out that other NBA Team officials believe the Celtics will make some sort of move before the NBA Trade Deadline which is just about a month and a half away. Its been a crazy first 1/4 of the season as the Celtics started the season as the best team in the East despite not having All-Star PG Kemba Walker able to play. Then the team got hit with Covid-19 issues and hit a speed bump which forced them out of 1st and into a tie with the Bucks for 2nd place 1 game behind the 76ers. However for this past Wednesday game the Celtics got all of their top 3 players on the court for the 1st time this season as they took on the San Antonio Spurs in San Antonio. The game came down to the wire but Marcus Smart missed a game tieing wide open 3 in the corner that sealed the win for SA and caused the Celtics to fall from a potential 2nd place in the East all the way down to 5th behind the 76ers, Bucks, Pacers and Nets. Now the Celtics 2 nights later get prepared to play Lebron in just a few short hours actually right at the conclusion of this show. They have lost their 1st game with their stars all at their disposal will they now go 0-2? Does a loss tonight to the Lakers mean Danny Ainge needs to make a trade in order to beef up the roster to get the Celtics back on track? Whos rumored to be available that Danny Ainge should consider if the Celtics Talk Crew thinks a trade must be done? Is it right to still think the team needs more time to gel as they have only played 1 game with Tatum, Brown and Kemba together this season or does the fact they all played together last season negate that excuse and now all excuses are eliminated. We will discuss this with NBA Baseline Co-host Warren Shaw (@ShawSportsNBA on twitter), CLNS Media Author and Careless Whisper Host Matt Rury (@TeamGreenTruth on twitter) and fellow Celtics Fan Blogger from Green and White Fan Blog Andy Vernon

The Celtics played 3 games since our last show all without the services of Jayson Tatum. Since our last show the Celtics played 3 games. The first was a matchup with the New York Knicks at TD Garden. This game resulted in a complete embarrasing performance for the Boston Celtics as the Knicks destroyed them 105-75 on their own court. The Celtics 2 nights later would face off with Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers for the first time this season and for the first time under command of former Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers. The Celtics despite having the lead in the 4th quarter would go on to lose 117-109. Celtics fans as well as Celtics guard Marcus Smart let their displeasure be known with how the game was officiated as the Celtics took 20 free throws while the 76ers took 45. With 21 of those 45 free throws going to 76ers Superstar Big Man Joel Embiid who went on to score 42 points in the game. The Celtics would play this game not only without Jayson Tatum but with All-Star PG Kemba Walker on a minutes restriction which also played a role in the Celtics not getting the offensive punch needed to win. 2 nights later the Celtics would take on the 76ers again in a rematch again on the 76ers court with Jayson Tatum despite being removed from Covid-19 restrictions being held out of the game. The Celtics once again would lose to the 76ers despite a 42 point performance from Jaylen Brown. The Celtics would also lose Payton Pritchard to an injury in this game and now he is questionable for the Celtics next game. So what are our host and guest top takeaways from the mini series sweep at the hands of the 76ers? Should we just toss the losses to the side since Tatum didnt play or is there something else to worry about? We will be joined by RedsArmy.com writer Mike Dynon, Celtics Fan and We Bleed Green member Andy Vernon

The Celtics/NBA season has gotten quite complicated over the last few weeks. On our last show the Celtics Talk Radio crew discussed the breaking news that Jayson Tatum and Robert Williams had tested positive for Covid-19 and that more then half the team was at risk of now being uneligible to play in the teams upcoming games due to the NBA's protocols to try and help limit the spread. Sure enough the next few games for the Celtics were all postponed to later dates that are to be determined due to the Celtics or their opponents not having the required amount of players needed to play in the game. So where do the Celtics now stand not only in the NBA Standings but also injury and schedule wise here in Saturday JAN 16th. Meanwhile the NBA did have some big news that has taken the sports world by storm and has many Celtics fans now reacting which was Houston Rockets Superstar James Harden was traded to the Brooklyn Nets and he will join forces with Kevin Durant and former Celtics Kyrie Irving. The Celtics had been linked to James Harden but it was reported the only way the Celtics could have traded for Harden was to give up Jaylen Brown. So now that Harden is off the table what does this mean for the Celtics. Does this move which now has many experts saying the East is all but wrapped up in the Nets favor put more pressure on Danny Ainge to possibly make a move of some sort to help aid the Celtics big 3 of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Kemba Walker to increase the Celtics chances of coming out of the East? Whats the latest on Kemba Walkers return and can we be confident he will remain healthy enough to help Tatum and Brown once they go toe to toe with the Nets? We will discuss all that and more with B Ball Insiders Reporter Bobby Krivitsky (@BobbyKrivitsky on twitter) and Celtics sports writer and fan Andrew Vernon

The Celtics in the last week have had a chance to prove something to 2 of the teams they faced in last seasons NBA Playoffs. The Celtics faced off with the Toronto Raptors for the 1st time since the Celtics eliminated the Toronto Raptors from the playoffs with a 92-87 Game 7 win in last years Eastern Conference Semi Finals back on September 11th. This game had all the advantages going to the Toronto Raptors heading into the game. From the Celtics playing on the 2nd night of a back to back after beating the Detroit Pistons a night before which was 2 nights after the Pistons beat the Celtics in their 1st game of a mini series et. Toronto was rested and Boston would be missing several key players for this game. Yet the Celtics would blowout the Raptors by going up by over 20 points before settling for a 126-114 win. 2 nights later the Celtics would take on the Miami Heat for the 1st time this season and the 1st time since the Heat eliminated the Celtics with a 125-113 win in game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals giving the Heat the right to go to the NBA Finals and giving the Celtics their 3rd conference finals loss in the last 4 years. The Celtics would walk away vcitorious 107-105 after a Payton Pritchard buzzard beating putback off a Marcus Smart miss. This game saw Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown outduel the Heats duo of Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo by a final smount of 48 to 41 and the Boston bench fall 1 point short of matching up the Miami bench which was a critical battle in last years Conference Finals. 2 nights later the Celtics would take on the Washington Wizards in Boston. However multiple Celtics players as well as players from other teams were being forced into quarantine due to covid-19 testing. We will be joined by BBallInsiders NBA Reporter Bobby Krivitsky and fellow Celtics Fan Andy Vernon.

The NBA Regular Season is officially underway and the Celtics have played 2 totally different games with 2 totally different results without the services of Kemba Walker. The first game saw the Celtics take on Giannis Antetokounmpo and the MIlwaukee Bucks. The Celtics would go up by as much as 17 points in the 2nd half via a great performance by Jaylen Brown. However come the 4th quarter Giannis and the Bucks cut the lead to a 2 point game in the first 6 minutes of the quartr before ultimately we saw a back and forth dance the rest of the way. The Celtics would trail by 1 point with 8.9 seconds left when they gave Jayson Tatum the ball and he went 1 on 1 with Giannis guarding him and Tatum let a 3 point shot go off over the outreached hand of Giannis. The shot would hit high off the backboard and drop in giving the Celtics a 122-120 lead with 0.4 seconds left. Giannis would draw a foul on new Celtics Center Tristan Thompson allowing him the chance to tie the game at the free throw line. However Giannis would miss the 2nd free throw and it would give the Celtics the 122-121 win. The game saw Celtics stars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum outduel the Bucks duo of MVP candidate Giannis Antetokounmpp and star Khris Middleton by the final amount of 63 to 62. This game saw Celtics newcomers Tristan Thompson and Jeff Teague chip in 31 points. 2 nights later on Christmas Day however things went the exact opposite for the Celtics as they hosted the duo of Kevin Durant and former Celtic Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets Superstar Duo would outshine the Celtics Star duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. As Kyrie Irving and Durant combined for 66 to Tatum and Browns 47 in what turned out to be a 28 point win for the Nets 123-95. So what did these 2 games prove. Does this season come down to the healt of Kemba Walker. Is a devastating injury the only thing that can stop the Nets. We will discuss with Rich Conte of the Techlife Podcast and Celtics fan Andy Verno

The preseason for the Boston Celtics has come to an end. The Celtics played only 2 games 1 against Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers and then Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets. The Celtics of course went into this preseason schedule knowing that they wouldnt have starting PG Kemba Walker and newly acquired Center Tristan Thompson and their starting center for last season Daniel Theis. The first game saw the Celtics lose 108-99 to the 76ers. A game that saw the Celtics get some great performances from some of thier newest players and some terrible performances from their star players. Then 3 nights later the Celtics took on former Celtic Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets. Celtics now have their eyes set on their opening night showdown with Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks. Brad Stevens hopes to have Tristan Thompson and Daniel Theis for that game but its not likely they will have Kemba Walker. So we will discuss who should be in the 10 man rotation for this team and who should be forced to sit on the bench and wait for an injury or foul trouble to get their playing time? What about expectations for this year is this a year where its Championship or Bust for this Celtics squad especially with the team proclaiming that this is Tatum and Browns team and now their aint no one reamining from the Big 3 that everyone says was holding them back over the last few years? What about the starting Center spot. Should Theis keep it or should Tristan Thompson take it. We will discuss that with Nicola Bogani of Celtics Nation Italia. Mike Dynon of RedsArmy.com. Has Danny Ainge used it on anyone since the deal was made official earlier this week. Or will we see Ainge hold off and wait for later on this season or even next summer to use it. What about the moves for Jeff Teague and Tristan Thomson where do we think they should fall in the Celtics pecking order. Should Thompson be giving the spot of starting center as the veteran big man of the team or should that spot be given again to Daniel Theis or even given to another big like Robert Williams. Jeff Teague should he be given the role of backup pg behind Kemba and if so what does this mean for Marcus Smart is it a better idea to have him start in Gordon Haywards spot or should someone else take it. The 2020-20201 NBA Season is a go after the NBA Owners and Players managed to come to an agreement to amend the CBA and work out an agreement that would satisfy both sides. The 2020-2021 Season will feature a 72 game season. 3 nights ago the NBA had the 2020 NBA Draft which saw the Celtics have 3 1st round picks to work with. Then less then 48 hours later Danny Ainge and the rest of the NBA teams had the next big part of the off season schedule to worry about. NBA Free Agency. The NBA and the players agreed to make the salary cap for the 2020-2021 season 109.1 million with a luxury tax amount of 132.6 million. So it has been 24 hours since the opening of free agency and we are 18 hours away from the time that contracts can officially start being signed by players to join their teams for the 2020-2021 season. So what has happened for the Boston Celtics over the past 24 hours between the player/team option contracts for Gordon Hayward, Jayson Tatum, Daniel Theis, Enes Kanter, Robert Williams and Semi Ojeleye. Did any of them remain Celtics via their contract options or did they hit the free agency market? What about the 3 1st round picks from this past Wednesdays draft night. Did Danny Ainge manage to make a trade up in the draft to get a high prospect or trade for a veteran or did he strike out and end up with 3 college players? What rumors are we hearing for the free agency market. Could we see Gordon Hayward leaving in less then 24 hours or is he expected to remain a Celtics player? Is Danny Ainge gonna be able to get a legit big man after failing to get one last season? Those questions and more are discussed on tonights Free Agency Special. Less then 2 weeks ago things couldnt have been better for Celtics Nation. They had managed to eliminate the defending NBA Champion Toronto Raptors. Fans felt they had just overcome their biggest obstacle in a run to the NBA Finals and now all they had to do was beat the 5th seeded Miami Heat in order to get back to the NBA Finals for the 1st time since 2010. However the Celtics and their fans were brought back down to eart quickly by the Miami Heat after losing games 1 and 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. 2 losses that resulted in an argument in the Celtics locker room after the game 2 loss and required head coach Brad Stevens to call a private meeting amongst to top players to resolve their issues late that night. The Celtics would get some help in game 3 as Gordon Hayward would return and help the Celtics win the game to pull to within 2 games to 1. However after a 3 day break the Celtics returned in game 4 and returned back to their way of play that cost them the first 2 games of the series and ultimately allowed Miami Heat rookie Tyler Herro to score 37 points in route to a Miami Heat win that put the Celtics on the brink of elimination and facing a challenge that has only been done successfully 13 times prior. To win an NBA Playoff series after falling down 3 games to 1. So did the Celtics get the job done last night in game 5 to get the 1st of 3 straight wins they need to make history as the 14th win to beat this challenge or did they fail and have their season for the 3rd time in 4 years end in the Eastern Conference Finals. Its the Eastern Conference Finals and for the Celtics it may be time to hit the panic button after just 2 games. The Celtics trail the Miami Heat 2 games to none after losing both games in the same fashion. Blowing double digit 2nd half leads. The Celtics in game 1 manage to force overtime before ultimately losing 117-114. Then in game 2 the Celtics had a 17 point lead and ultimately a bad 3rd quarter allowed the Miami Heat to take a double digit lead and ultimately win the game 106-101 to take the 2-0 series lead. The frustration for the Celtics after game 2 was so obvious on the faces of the players as they got off the court and it was more obvious in the locker room after the game as reports said a major argument between the players broke out that potentially involved items being thrown in the locker room and players swearing. At halftime of game 2 reports were being put out saying that Jaylen Brown was getting upset over the lack of shots he was being given. So with a 2-0 series defecit and the team appearing as though they are now starting to have issues with each other while struggling to beat a team that many felt they should have be beating. GAME 7. 2 words that sports fans love to hear but athletes try to avoid. The Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors seasons both came down to a winner takes all Game 7 matchup last night in Orlando. A game 7 where the winner would move onto the Eastern Conference Finals and take on the Miami Heat for the right to play in the NBA Finals while the loser would be sent home to spend the summer asking the question WHAT IF. The Celtics won games 1 and 2 then lost game 3 on a buzzard beating 3 from Raptors forward OJ Anunoby to make it 2-1. Then lost game 4 in a close battle to tie the series up 2-2. The Celtics would then win game 5 in dominating fashion before blowing their 1st chance to clinch the series in game 6 as they failed with a double overtime loss that featured a horrendous performance from PG Kemba Walker and some bad turnovers and plays from the young duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. So the Celtics last night put it all on the line with a lot riding on the outcome of game 7. The Celtics after winning game 1 in dominating fashion then just managing to squeak out a win in game 2 were poised to take a 3-0 series lead and all but end the Toronto Raptors season but 1 defensive mistake cost them the chance to take that 3-0 series lead and instead has made the series 2-1 in favor of the Celtics. The Celtics lost last nights game 3 by a final score of 104-103 in a game that saw both teams go back and forth and exchange the lead in the 4th quarter. Kemba Walker connected with Daniel Theis for a 2 hand slam with 0.5 seconds left in the game to give the Celtics a 2 point lead. The Celtics celebrated with Kemba throwing his fist into the air thinking they had the game won. Only for the Raptors to snatch away the victory from the hands of defeat with a game winning 3 pointer by OG Anunoby who was left wide open on the ensuing play by Jaylen Brown. We will discuss the top stories from this game. The bad decision by Jaylen Brown to leave a wide open Anunoby in the corner to guard Marc Gasol near the rim despite a 2 point shot only forcing a tie and overtime. The play of the Boston bench who for the 3rd straight game had a great performance and for the 1st time in the series actually won the battle of the benches. The Raptors decision to go to the zone and the effect it had putting the Celtics offensive attack to a halt and if thats something Celtics fans should worry about. However the game did not happen as NBA Players as well as players from other sports leagues in the USA opted to boycott their respective games as a way of supporting the hundreds of American Citizens who have chosen to join the Black Lives Matters movement and protest social injustice in the country. The move by the NBA Players had some major impacts and put the remainder of the NBA Season in jeopardy. NBA Players chose to meet to decide whether or not they will opt to quit the remainder of the season or continue to play. Reports said that the NBA Players were not only getting frustrated with the fact that they were stuck in the bubble at a time that they felt they should be out amongst the people who are on the frontlines but they were getting frustrated with life in the bubble period and not being able to be with their families. Ultimately after 2 days of conversation and debate the players chose to continue with the NBA Playoffs. The NBA announced the Celtics/Raptors game 1 will be pushed to Sunday meaning an entirely new schedule for the Celtics/Raptors series will be announced.
