Episode 285: Join us this week on TechTime Radio with Nathan Mumm: The Show That Makes You Go "HMMM." Welcome to our show as we guide you through all things tech with a lil' whiskey on the side. This week on TechTime Radio, we cut through a week where algorithms, automation, and accountability all collided. We opened with TikTok's regulatory shakeup, where EU pressure and U.S. oversight triggered an algorithm reset that left creators scrambling. The conversation centered on what responsible design looks like when addictive features meet real duty of care, especially for younger users. We shifted to the automotive world this week, from Waymo scraping parked cars to a D.C. robo‑minibus that froze in the middle of the lane after a minor crash. The show explained how fragile edge cases and confusing human handoffs still make these systems unreliable, even as automation becomes more common. We wrapped up with enterprise updates, new security concerns, and a hands-on look at Gwen Ways Gadget, the Ziea-One, the calendar-organizer clock robot, all finished off with a lively American whiskey tasting that sparked plenty of debate.Feed fatigue, robo-fender-benders, and a desk gadget with egg eyes take center stage as we untangle a week where regulation, automation, and attention collide. We start with TikTok's new reality: EU regulators label its design addictive, while U.S. oversight and ownership shifts trigger a jarring algorithm reset. Creators see their niche content vanish, reach plummet, and feeds feel sanitized or broken. We explore what accountability looks like when infinite scroll and autoplay meet duty of care—especially for younger users—and whether smarter design can keep discovery without weaponizing compulsion. Then we pivot to the streets, where autonomy hit a pothole. A Waymo vehicle, even with a specialist onboard, scraped parked cars; a D.C. robo-minibus froze mid-lane after a minor crash; and an AI-enhanced used-car listing offered up cobblestone floor mats and two gear shifters. It's funny until it isn't. We cut through the headlines to the heart of the problem: brittle edge cases, unclear handoffs, and the non-negotiable need for human-in-the-loop safeguards. From staged rollouts to geofencing and real-world failover plans, we map the practices that separate novelty from reliability. On the enterprise side, Microsoft's long goodbye to Exchange Web Services sounds mundane—until your calendar syncs and SaaS bridges hiccup. We explain the timeline, what's replacing EWS, and how to audit your hidden dependencies before 2027 arrives. To actually tame your day, we test-drive Zia One, a Kickstarter AI calendar that merges Google, Outlook, and more into a glanceable desktop display with voice commands, Pomodoro timers, and playful animations. It's a focused bet on ambient computing—and we share how to evaluate crowdfunded hardware for real-world viability.Security stakes stay high as Coinbase reports a contractor-enabled data access incident, complete with leaked screenshots of internal tools. We detail why outsourced support is a prime attack surface and lay out a practical blueprint for least privilege, session monitoring, and vendor governance. And yes, we sip through a four-bottle American whiskey flight, trade takes on flavor and finish, and crown a winner—with a few confident opinions that may not age well.Hit play for a fast, clear, and funny tour through the week's most consequential tech shifts, grounded in practical steps you can apply today. Feb 4, 2026: In this episode of Future-Ready Today, I explore a fundamental shift in the workplace: the transition from a task economy to a trust economy. As artificial intelligence moves from "future tech" to "daily tool," the basic mechanics of how we hire, manage, and let go of people are under intense pressure. We aren't just dealing with new software; we're dealing with a breakdown in identity and accountability. I dive deep into five stories shaping this week's headlines: The Deepfake Candidate: Why identity verification is becoming the most critical new skill in HR. California's Algorithmic Guardrails: The new legislative push to ensure humans—not code—remain responsible for firing decisions. The "Job Apocalypse" Debate: Analyzing Ben Horowitz's take on why new work emerges even as old categories vanish. The $818 Billion Admin Tax: How poorly designed organizations are drowning in emails, and why AI might be the only way out. The AI Layoff Script: Why "technology made us do it" is becoming the new corporate excuse, and how leaders can maintain credibility during transitions. The Bottom Line: The future of work won't be won by the companies with the most AI. It will be won by the companies that use technology to remove "administrative garbage" while doubling down on human accountability.

Rob O'Neill is a retired Navy SEAL with more than 400 combat missions, deployments with SEAL Team Two and SEAL Team Six, and participation in some of the most high-profile special operations of the last two decades. He served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and has spent years navigating the complicated transition from service to public life. In this conversation, Rob joins me for an unfiltered, long-form discussion about his career, the brotherhood of the teams, and the personal cost that comes with telling parts of his story publicly. We talk at length about Operation Neptune Spear, the mission to kill Osama bin Laden, and Rob's perspective on how the official debrief differs from his lived experience. Rob explains why he believes portions of the record are incomplete, discusses actions taken by members of the assault force after bin Laden was already dead, and why those details matter to him years later. These are Rob's firsthand accounts and interpretations, shared in full context and without editing for sound bites. We also dig into Rob's ongoing $25 million defamation lawsuit, how it came about, and what it's like to defend your name after a lifetime spent operating in silence. This isn't a hit piece or a hero narrative—it's a three-hour conversation about memory, loyalty, accountability, and what happens when the story doesn't match the mission. Will AI Replace Financial Advisors? Why Wisdom Still Wins in Real Life Money Decisions

The Moment “Confident” Sounds Like “Certain” A few weeks ago, we found ourselves talking about how quickly AI is moving. It's not just that it can answer questions fast—it's that it can sound certain while doing it. https://www.youtube.com/live/mWd2QqPzFWA And when you're staring at a big money decision—debt, investing, taxes, retirement—certainty feels like relief. It feels like clarity. But after thousands of conversations with real families, we've learned something that never changes: people don't just need answers. They need judgment. They need wisdom. They need someone who can hear what's not being said and help them make decisions they can live with. So we're tackling the question head-on: Will AI replace financial advisors? The Moment “Confident” Sounds Like “Certain”The Promise and the Limits of an AI Financial AdvisorWill AI Replace Financial Advisors? Start With the Real Problem: Information Overload, Wisdom ShortageAI Financial Planning Tools Can Help You Find Information Fast—but Speed Isn't the Same as StewardshipAI Financial Advisor vs Human Financial Advisor: What AI Does Well (And Why That's a Gift)What AI Can and Can't Do in Financial Advice: AI Excels at Technical Speed and StructureHow to Use AI With a Financial Advisor: Let AI Raise Your Questions, Not Replace Your CounselChatGPT Financial Advice and the Biggest Risk: It Doesn't Know What's True—It Knows What's RepeatedCan You Trust AI for Financial Advice? The Better Question Is: Who's Leading?Use the Tool, Don't Hand Over the WheelListen to the Full Episode on “Will AI Replace Financial Advisors?”Book A Strategy CallFAQWill AI replace financial advisors? Is an AI financial advisor trustworthy? What is the difference between a robo-advisor vs financial advisor? Can you trust ChatGPT financial advice? What are the biggest privacy risks sharing financial data with AI?How do I use AI in financial planning without making mistakes? What AI can and can't do in financial advice? How to use AI with a financial advisor? The Promise and the Limits of an AI Financial Advisor If you've been asking, “Will AI replace financial advisors?” you're not alone. With ChatGPT and other tools now in everyone's pocket, it's natural to wonder if you can depend on technology to do what an advisor does—maybe even better than a human. In this blog, you'll walk away with: A clear view of what an AI financial advisor can do well today The limits of ChatGPT financial advice (and why it matters) The real difference in AI vs human financial advisor—and why it isn't mostly about math How to use AI in financial planning without outsourcing your responsibility A simple framework for letting AI serve your decisions—not lead them We're not here to hype AI or fear it. We're here to help you use it wisely—so you stay in control of your financial life. Will AI Replace Financial Advisors? Start With the Real Problem: Information Overload, Wisdom Shortage We live in a world drowning in information. You can Google anything. You can ask ChatGPT anything. You can get 1,500 opinions in five minutes—especially about money. But access to information isn't the same as knowing what to do. That's why this conversation matters: we don't just have an information problem. We have a wisdom problem. You can search “how to invest” or “how to pay off debt” and get answers that sound smart—but those answers don't actually understand your life, your goals, your emotions, your discipline level, your blind spots, your family responsibilities, or your values. People don't get stuck because they can't find an answer. They get stuck because they can't tell which answer is true, which answer is opinion, and which answer applies to their reality. This is the first reason the “AI will replace advisors” narrative falls short. AI can multiply information. But it cannot automatically create wisdom inside you. AI Financial Planning Tools Can Help You Find Information Fast—but Speed Isn't the Same as Stewardship AI in the financial world isn't brand new. The industry has used advanced modeling tools for years—Monte Carlo simulations, tax planning software, retirement projections, portfolio analytics. What's changed is how accessible and conversational it's become. Now you can ask an AI tool a question like you'd ask a person. That's powerful. But it also creates a temptation: treating the tool like a decision-maker instead of a tool. And that's where people can get harmed—not because AI is “evil,” but because it's easy to transfer your trust to something that sounds confident. AI Financial Advisor vs Human Financial Advisor: What AI Does Well (And Why That's a Gift) Let's say this plainly: AI can be a good tool. Used well, it can help you become more prepared, more organized, and more proactive. Here are practical ways AI in financial planning is already genuinely helpful. What AI Can and Can't Do in Financial Advice: AI Excels at Technical Speed and Structure AI is excellent at gathering technical information quickly and helping you manipulate scenarios. Instead of building spreadsheets, calculators, and formulas from scratch, you can get a structured outline in minutes. It can help you: Summarize concepts in plain language Compare strategies side-by-side Generate checklists and planning questions Turn notes into a presentation Create “what if” scenario prompts That can help you see possibilities faster. But seeing possibilities is not the same as choosing wisely. How to Use AI With a Financial Advisor: Let AI Raise Your Questions, Not Replace Your Counsel One of the best uses of AI is preparation. You can ask it: “What questions should I ask my advisor about retirement?” “What are common blind spots in tax planning?” “What are the tradeoffs of paying off debt versus investing?” “What does it mean to reduce drawdown?” Then you bring those questions to a real conversation with a professional who understands context. Used this way, AI can help you show up better. That's very different than AI taking over. ChatGPT Financial Advice and the Biggest Risk: It Doesn't Know What's True—It Knows What's Repeated One thing we've noticed quickly: AI tools learn from what's out there on the internet, and they don't always know what is true versus what is simply popular. Sometimes things look like “truth” because they're repeated endlessly. That matters in money decisions, because repetition isn't accuracy—and it's definitely not wisdom. So if you're asking, “Can you trust AI for financial advice?” the answer depends on how you use it. Can You Trust AI for Financial Advice? A Simple Framework Here's a practical way to think about trust: Trust AI to organize information. Trust AI to help you generate questions. Don't trust AI to carry your responsibility. Don't trust AI to know your full story—your fears, habits, values, and family dynamics. AI can be a strong assistant. It's not a wise authority. Robo-advisor vs Financial Advisor: Why Optimization Isn't the Same as Guidance Robo-advisors have been around for years. They can be helpful for automating portfolio allocation and rebalancing. But the question isn't whether robo-advisor vs financial advisor is better in theory. The question is: what do you actually need? Most people don't struggle because they lack a portfolio. They struggle because when real life hits—fear, uncertainty, loss, family conflict—they stop making consistent decisions. Money decisions are never just math decisions. They're human decisions. And real guidance isn't just optimization. It's interpretation, coaching, and sometimes even protection from your own impulse. AI and Behavioral Finance Coaching: The Moment Emotion Enters, the Math Isn't Enough A perfect example came up in our conversation. Someone left an advisor because they felt dismissed emotionally. The message they kept hearing was, “Don't worry.” But they were worried. So the plan was adjusted to minimize drawdown—the goal was reducing the size of losses during downturns. That created more peace. Then the market rose strongly, and the question became: “Why am I not up as much as the S&P 500?” That's a human moment. It's normal. It also reveals the deeper truth: we often want safety and maximum upside at the same time. An AI tool can explain that tradeoff intellectually. But the real work is helping a person reconnect their decisions to their values and expectations—and then stay consistent under stress. That's where AI vs human financial advisor becomes obvious. The issue isn't intelligence. The issue is integration. Roth Conversions and the Problem With “Perfect Math”: You Have to Know the Future (And You Don't) Roth conversions are a great example of why financial decisions can't be reduced to formulas. Whether a Roth conversion is “best” depends on factors like: Future tax rates Your income path Your withdrawal timing And how long you'll live Many financial models require assumptions about the future that cannot be known. AI can run scenarios. It cannot remove uncertainty. It also cannot decide which risks you're willing to carry, which outcomes matter most to you, and how your family should prepare if life doesn't go as modeled.

In Episode 235, Tu and Lei break down a pivotal week for autonomous driving, global EV competition, and the future of premium automakers—from Silicon Valley to China and Europe.  The conversation opens with a surge of AV and robotaxi news: Tesla removing safety drivers in Austin, shifting FSD to a subscription model, and signaling potential approval in China and Europe; Waymo expanding into Miami; DiDi launching a new robotaxi platform in China; and large-scale robo-van ambitions from Mobileye–Volkswagen and Geely's Caocao Mobility. Together, these moves signal that autonomy is no longer experimental—it's scaling.Tu frames autonomy through four lenses: technology readiness, silicon and cloud stacks, regulatory approval, and societal impact, including job displacement and cost reduction through scale. While Tesla remains the benchmark, Chinese players like XPeng, Huawei, and Baidu are rapidly closing the gap—supported by a more permissive regulatory environment in China. The episode then pivots to a blunt assessment of the premium auto sector. Porsche's collapse to ~42,000 units in China, deep price cuts from BMW and Mercedes, and the stark comparison between Porsche's Macan EV and Xiaomi's YU7 highlight how “premium” is being redefined by software, features, and price—not heritage.Tu and Lei argue that the high-margin glory days for German luxury brands are over, not just in China but globally, as Chinese OEMs demonstrate faster iteration, lower costs, and mass-market appeal—especially to younger and female buyers. The discussion closes with battery swapping (BAAS), cold-weather EV realities, and whether Chinese automakers could realistically build trust and scale in North America.Strategic, candid, and forward-looking, this episode explains why autonomy and affordability—not badges—will define the next era of the auto industry.___

Min 4: EL CABALLERO DE LOS SIERE REINOS.

What if your biggest edge isn't what you buy, but where you hold it? In this episode of the Registered Investment Advisor Podcast, Seth Greene interviews Henry Yoshida, CFP®, Rocket Dollar CEO & Co-Founder,  who shares how his earlier robo-advisor exit to Goldman Sachs and years as an advisor led to a digital platform for self-directed IRAs holding private and alternative assets. Starting his career at Merrill Lynch during the dot-com bust, he built deep retirement expertise and now oversees a trust company with roughly $12B in alternatives and 9,000+ registered investments. Yoshida explains why asset location can outperform asset selection and why retail access to private markets is set to grow.   Key Takeaways: → How Rocket Dollar provides infrastructure while investors source their own deals. → How Rocket Dollar doesn't manufacture or recommend investments. → Why asset location is crucial. → Why innovation is critical as incumbents eye alternatives.   Henry Yoshida, CFP®, is the CEO and Co-Founder of Rocket Dollar. He was previously the founder of venture capital-backed Robo-advisor retirement plan platform Honest Dollar (acquired by Goldman Sachs in 2016), the founder of MY Group LLC (acquired by Captrust), and spent 10 years at Merrill Lynch. Henry is also a Certified Financial Planner and has brought multiple innovative products and methodologies to the market. Yoshida graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and holds an MBA from Cornell University. He lives in Austin with his two daughters.   Connect With Henry:   Website: https://www.rocketdollar.com/ https://bit.ly/4nKw0WT Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/fitfinancehenry/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/henryyoshida/   Learn more about your ad choices.
