Giant Mess podcast host. Neal Lynch is breaking down the turbulent and largely disappointing 2026 season for the New York Mets up to the All-Star Break. From a disastrous 10-21 start in April to a brief glimmer of hope in May, it has been a rough ride that culminated in a major collapse and the firing of manager Carlos Mendoza in June. We discuss the standout performances from rookies Carson Benge and A.J. Ewing, plus Juan Soto carrying the offense and earning a starting nod in the 2026 All-Star Game. However, with a 40-57 record at the break, baffling mental errors on the basepaths, and Little League-level defense, the Mets have their worst halfway record since 2018. Join us as we explore the looming August 3 trade deadline and whether the front office will sell off pieces like Freddy Peralta, Luke Weaver, and impending free agents like Brooks Raley. We also cover the struggles and staggering strikeout rates of major additions like Bo Bichette, Steve Cohen's confidence in President of Baseball Operations David Stearns, and what the rest of this season holds for interim manager Andy Green.#mets #nymets #newyorkmets #mlb #baseball #carlosmendoza #juansoto #franciscolindor #mlbtradedeadline #mlbtraderumors #davidstearns #stevecohen #metsbaseball NY Mets Fan Rants & Analysis - https://bit.ly/MetsYTPlaylist Movie Reviews - https://bit.ly/GiantMessMovieReviews TV Show Reactions - https://bit.ly/GiantMessTV Funny Stories - https://bit.ly/GiantMessFunnyStoriesABOUT NEAL LYNCH:Neal Lynch is the creator and host of Giant Mess, a podcast blending sports commentary, pop culture analysis, and storytelling. Jeff had a great call yesterday from someone suggesting transitioning Oneil Cruz from an outfielder to a pitcher. The guys are very happy that the All-Star Break is over and the nightmare of no sports will end. If the Pirates win 86 games and miss the playoffs would fans be satisfied? Dorin says he wouldn't be. He says that would irritate Pirates fans because they didn't address the issues early enough and put themselves in completely avoidable situations. I say I would be satisfied. Crowley agrees with Dorin. I am wrong. Not making the playoffs is the be-all and end-all.

Crowley agrees with Dorin. I am wrong. Not making the playoffs is the be-all and end-all. We're onto the second half of the Pirates season. If the Pirates don't make the playoffs but have a better record, Ben Cherington will definitely say "We made strides," which will anger Crowley. Crowley is also not up to date on pop culture and a recent New York Post headline has him very confused. Crowley has a bone to pick with the NHL and MLB. Both sports released their schedules on the same day. What were they thinking? Crowley gets more info on the Jelly Roll and his divorce. I give them some scouting reports on Mets pitchers available after last night's report that said the Mets firesale is upon us. Huscar Brazoban, Luke Weaver, and Clay Holmes should be the targets for the Pirates. We are a couple of weeks away from the trade deadline. I asked Dorin what is the best leftover food. I think it is Chinese food, Dorin says it is Japanese, and Crowley says anything rice based is good leftover food. Mall food court Chinese food is a dying art

Episode 635: Nine straight wins. 14 out of 16 heading into the All-Star Break. Your Boston Red Sox are certifiably on fire. The pre-All-Star Break trend continues for this year's Red Sox, and against all odds, the team finds itself just a half-game back of a playoff spot. Jared and Steve link up in Philadelphia while Coley and Tyler hold down the fort in New England, and hijinks ensue immediately.
