Noa Dalzell of CLNS and Nate look back at Boston's surprising 2025-26 season and debate whether the Celtics' success justified—or complicated—the decision to dramatically reshape the roster. They examine how the departures and additions change the roles of Jayson Tatum, Payton Pritchard, Paul George, Mitchell Robinson, and Boston's group of young wings. They also dig into the biggest questions for the Celtics on both ends of the floor, including shot creation, defensive matchups, rotation decisions, and Joe Mazzulla's approach in the playoffs. Finally, they give their predictions for the Celtics' season and discuss how Boston matches up with the other top teams in the East. 1:28 — Reassessing last season and the decision to break up the roster 7:28 — How much will Boston miss Jaylen Brown? 11:25 — Can Payton Pritchard take on a larger creation role? 19:14 — Mitchell Robinson's fit in Boston 24:36 — Paul George's role and durability 27:49 — Projected starting lineup and rotation 31:49 — Boston's defensive approach and who guards the ball 34:33 — Hugo González, Jordan Walsh, Ron Harper Jr. and Baylor Scheierman 37:47 — Jayson Tatum's recovery and outlook 43:22 — Closing lineup possibilities 45:52 — The Celtics' biggest strengths and weaknesses 48:42 — Joe Mazzulla and Boston's playoff questions 52:01 — Center versatility and frontcourt options 54:36 — Offensive and defensive outlook, plus season predictions 59:19 — How Boston matches up with the East 1:05:30 — Pick-and-roll defense and Boston's reaction to the Jaylen Brown trade Join Dunc'd On Prime! The crew's back together after a week off, and it takes about five minutes before anyone actually mentions basketball. Bob's fresh off a trip to San Antonio (river walk, wine, a very serious debate about mashed potatoes), and once the guys settle in, they get to the real news.   The big story is the Lakers sale, or more accurately, the Lakers sale that might not be happening. Jeanie Buss is reportedly refusing to hand over her remaining stake to Bob Iger's group, and the guys dig into why she's digging in, who could realistically help her buy out her siblings, and whether Vanessa Bryant factors into any of it.   From there it's a full lap around the league. There's an update on where the Clippers salary cap investigation stands, Russell Westbrook calling it a career after 18 seasons, and a debate over which stars from the 2000s draft classes have the most left in the tank. Horry also gets something off his chest about the 2026 Hall of Fame class, and he's not shy about who he thinks got left out.   The back half is schedule season. The guys break down the best revenge games on the 2026-27 slate, argue about whether Philly got handed a cupcake schedule, and run through the week's roster news, including Bradley Beal to the Clippers, jersey retirements for Kevin Garnett and Diana Taurasi, and Dennis Schroder quietly climbing the all-time journeyman list. Then it's game time. Bob pulls the fresh Forbes franchise valuations and puts Rob and Harp through a full round of guessing which team is worth more, running across the NBA, NFL and MLB, with a few results that catch everybody off guard.   00:00     Cold Open: Water Temps, Steak Orders & Asparagus Chaos 05:49     Lakers Ownership Drama: Jeanie Buss Won't Sell 09:20     Who Could Help Jeanie Buy Out Her Family? 15:29     Clippers Cap Case Update & Forbes Valuations Teased 20:48     Russell Westbrook Retires After 18 Seasons 24:02     Ranking the Last 2000s Stars Still Playing 26:09     Paul George's Health and Longevity 27:25     Horry Snubbed Again: Breaking Down the 2026 HOF Class 33:41     Reviving the Campaign to Get Horry In 35:51     2026 Schedule's Best Revenge Games 38:20     Is Philly's Schedule Too Easy This Year? 43:17     Quick Hits: Beal Signs, KG & Taurasi Retire, Schroder Traded 45:15     Big Shot of the Week: Teen's 3D-Printed Wheelchair 46:51     Buy My Team: Knicks-Clippers & Cowboys-Patriots 48:13     Buy My Team: Mets-Braves & Bulls-Heat 49:35     Buy My Team: Falcons-Panthers & Dodgers-Yankees 51:55     Buy My Team: Hawks-Cavs, Eagles-Giants & Rays-Marlins 55:33     Buy My Team: Chiefs-Ravens Finale 57:02     Wrap-Up: Football Season and Picks Are Coming Back

Chicago Bulls fans keep saying the team should follow the blueprint of the Thunder, Spurs, Knicks or Pacers — but here's the problem: none of those teams followed the same blueprint themselves. On today's Chicago Bulls Central, Haize breaks down why the Bulls cannot simply copy another franchise's rebuild. Oklahoma City converted established stars into historic asset value, San Antonio landed a generational prospect, New York identified Jalen Brunson before the league fully understood his ceiling, and Indiana retooled around Tyrese Haliburton instead of tearing everything down. The real lesson is not copying one path — it is identifying your own advantage and becoming aggressive at the right stage of your own timeline.Haize explains what the Bulls can actually borrow from each team: asset discipline from OKC, development standards from San Antonio, star identification from New York, and style-based roster building from Indiana. But Chicago cannot copy OKC's Paul George trade return, San Antonio's lottery luck, New York's Brunson leap, or Indiana's Haliburton trade. The Bulls are still in the discovery stage with Josh Giddey, Matas Buzelis, Caleb Wilson, Nic Claxton, Dailyn Swain, Rob Dillingham, Noa Essengue, Leonard Miller and the rest of the young core. Before Bryson Graham makes a massive consolidation trade, Chicago must figure out who the organizing talent is, which young players fit together, and which players are true core pieces versus useful assets.

Unsportsmanlike Conduct – Ep 141: NBA & NFL Offseason Chaos, MLB Deadline and SummerSlam

The Pop Culture Pros Podcast Network

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 30, 2026 158:34

Farace, Tim, and Anthony are back for Episode 141 of Unsportsmanlike Conduct, and this week the sports world apparently needed a babysitter. The NBA offseason went completely off the rails, Tony Romo found himself in the headlines for all the wrong reasons, the NFL offseason keeps handing out pressure points, the WNBA All-Star weekend gave us great basketball and some league-office weirdness, MLB trade deadline rumors are heating up, and SummerSlam is sitting there looking like the calmest thing on the board. Which is insane, because it's wrestling. We start with the NBA, because honestly, how could we not? Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis are headed to Miami, Jaylen Brown and LeBron James are now in Philadelphia, Paul George is in Boston, Kawhi Leonard is back in Toronto, Ja Morant is in Portland, LaMelo Ball is in Minnesota, Julius Randle is in Brooklyn, and Mitchell Robinson somehow ended up with the Celtics because apparently Knicks fans were too happy and the universe had to fix that. Andre Drummond is now in New York, Austin Reaves got paid, Trae Young stayed put, and every fanbase is currently pretending their front office had a master plan instead of a Red Bull and a trade machine. Then we jump to the NFL, where Tony Romo's DUI situation leads the conversation before the guys get into the bigger offseason picture. Kyle Shanahan has more pressure, Baker Mayfield has more questions, Brandon Aiyuk's future is still hanging around, and teams around the league are trying to convince everyone their offseason moves solved everything. Very cute. Very July. Let's check back when somebody is 2-4 and blaming the coordinator. The WNBA All-Star Game also gets some time, with Jonquel Jones taking MVP honors and the league creating its own unnecessary side drama after posting and deleting a video tied to Paige Bueckers, Angel Reese, and a friendly wager. Great basketball, more attention than ever, and then the league office decided to step on a rake in public. Impressive range.Baseball gets its turn with the MLB trade deadline approaching and big names floating around. Tarik Skubal, Robbie Ray, Freddy Peralta, Mason Miller, Luis Arráez, Eugenio Suárez, Luis Robert Jr., George Springer, and plenty more could be part of the deadline madness. Contenders need pitching, sellers want ridiculous returns, and Mets names being involved means Farace is probably going to suffer at least once during this segment. Tradition matters. And then there's SummerSlam, with CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi inside Hell in a Cell, Liv Morgan vs. IYO SKY, Penta vs. Chad Gable, and enough chaos across both nights to make wrestling Twitter unbearable before the first bell even rings. Which, to be fair, is kind of the point. So Episode 141 has it all: NBA trade chaos, LeBron in Philly, Giannis in Miami, Romo headlines, NFL offseason drama, WNBA All-Star buzz, MLB deadline rumors, and SummerSlam madness. Farace, Tim, and Anthony are locked in, the takes will be loud, the patience will be low, and somebody is absolutely going to defend a terrible opinion long after the rest of the room has moved on.Business as usual.#NBA #NFL #MLBTradeDeadline #SummerSlam #UnsportsmanlikeConduct #PopCulturePros

(00:00-23:56) – Query & Company opens a Tuesday with Jake Query and producer Eddie Garrison continuing the Indiana Fever discussion by examining how the team has looked in the last two weeks because wins are becoming more frequent, but the play has been inconsistent at times. They also dive into yesterday’s IndyCar race in Nashville with Alex Palou capturing the checkered flag. (23:56-39:59) – ESPN.com’s Stephen Holder joins Query & Company to discuss a variety of topics a week before the Indianapolis Colts report for training camp. Their conversation starts by discussing their confidence in the offensive line for the Colts and then Jake asks Stephen for some names of players that stood out above the rest during training camp but did not have success outside of camp and preseason play. (39:59-47:23) – Jake Query concludes the first hour of the show with USAC driver Chase Stockon joining to preview Indiana Sprint Week, the challenges of racing in so many events throughout the season, and how he won a race with a broken arm last year. (47:23-1:07:39) – The second hour of Query & Company starts with Jake and Eddie discussing the news that Tyrese Haliburton is going to have his inaugural celebrity softball game in one month. What celebrities do Jake and Eddie think will be invited? Plus, they start their list of the top five Indianapolis Colts Summer Wonders. (1:07:39-1:23:26) – After listing the players that just made the cut for their Top Five Indianapolis Colts Summer Wonders, Jake and Eddie list off players four through one. (1:23:26-1:29:45) – Hour number two of Query & Company concludes with Jake Query and Eddie Garrison highlighting some names from listeners that they felt were left off the list and recapping yesterday’s IndyCar race. (1:29:45-1:52:11) – Scott Agness from Fieldhouse Files makes his weekly appearance on Query & Company to discuss Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever. Jake starts the conversation by asking Scott about the Pacers decision to let Taelon Peter go yesterday and who he believes will get that last two-way deal between Ethan Thompson and Jalen Slawson. They transition to the Indiana Fever by debating if they are better with Caitlin Clark looking to score first or get her teammates involved first and if the All-Star Break is coming at the wrong time. (1:52:11-2:05:37) – With the news earlier in the day that Tyrese Haliburton will be hosting his first celebrity softball game in a month, Jake and Eddie go back and look at all the players that Paul George has been traded for in his career. They also give away two four-pack of tickets to the Indiana State Fair! (2:05:37-2:09:13) – The show closes out with JMV joining Jake Query to preview his show!Support the show: https://1075thefan.com/query-and-company/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On this episode of The Drive & Dish NBA Podcast, hosted by Kevin Rafuse (@rafusetolose) and Justin Cousart (@JustinContheAir), the guys start the show by reacting to the news that the Kawhi Leonard trade is on hold for now. Why the return to Toronto makes sense for both sides, but if there should be any worry long term amid the NBA's investigation. The guys also break down the Ja Morant trade and if this really makes sense for Portland. Next, LeBron James announces that he is leaving the Lakers. A quick look back at his tenure there and the moves the Lakers have made in the aftermath of the news. As LeBron's destinations focus on Philly, Cleveland and Miami, the guys debate which destination makes the most sense. Philly meanwhile shocked the league by trading for Jaylen Brown as Paul George ships up to Boston. How we got here and how this changes the Sixers timeline. Cleveland meanwhile has re-signed Donovan Mitchell to a long-term extension and the guys discuss what other moves the Cavs could have on tap besides LeBron. In Who's Ballin Who's Fallin, a supermax extension in San Antonio for Wemby, Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo fight in Vegas and the continued impacts of the second apron. Finally, another round of Immaculate Grid. Listen to the show wherever you get your podcasts and watch the show on YouTube!
