Chris Paul's likely exit in Phoenix, Kyrie Irving's apparent determination to re-sign with Dallas, all of the twists and turns -- and rival teams -- those stories potentially involve AND a look at the state of the NBA Finals after Denver's Game 3 masterpiece in Miami ... it's all here in the latest edition of #thisleague UNCUT with Chris Haynes and Marc Stein. #fsrSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
On this edition of Road Trippin', Richard, Channing and Allie discuss the NBA Finals, now that the Denver Nuggets have regained the series lead. The crew looks at how both the Nuggets and Heat have adjusted to each other in the first few games of the series, and what we are likely to see going forward. Channing believes that Jimmy Butler needs to be more efficient with his shots if the Heat want to have any chance of coming back in this series. Rich looks at the prospect of Tyler Herro returning to the series, and why he thinks he shouldn't because he would not be up to speed with the team this late in the postseason. Also, Rich and Channing talk about Kyrie Irving trying to lure LeBron James to Dallas, and whether or not they'll ever team up again in the NBA. The crew also discusses if James Harden or Damian Lillard are likely to wind up in Phoenix. Channing believes that teams would have to give up way too much to acquire Lillard, while Rich tries to figure out which team would be able to acquire him without giving up too much. Can the Dallas Mavericks take Dereck Lively II with the 10th Pick in the 2023 NBA Draft? Could he help Luka Doncic and (hopefully) Kyrie Irving early on? Nick Angstadt (@NickVanExit) and Isaac Harris (@IsaacLHarris) discuss Dereck Lively and if he could be a good pick for the Dallas Mavericks in the 2023 NBA Draft. What are his strengths and weaknesses? What kind of fit would he be with the Mavs? Will he be available at the 10th pick for Dallas? Who can we compare his playstyle to? Then they end with why the Mavs should and shouldn't take him. Subscribe to Our Subtext to Get Texts from Nick & Isaac
The Phoenix Suns are reportedly waiving Chris Paul or reworking a deal with him, will they chase Kyrie Irving, can the Dallas Mavericks pull off a deal with them? Should they? Nick Angstadt (@NickVanExit) and Isaac Harris (@IsaacLHarris) discuss the report that the Phoenix Suns are waiving Chris Paul and what that means for the Dallas Mavericks and Kyrie Irving's future. Could the Mavs acquire Chris Paul? Would a Deandre Ayton for Kyrie Irving deal make sense? Then they discuss some more news and rumors around the Mavs: Taylor Hendricks is working out for the Mavs soon, could a Spurs trade make sense, and a Utah Jazz Trade idea. His energy has made him a great option for Michael Malone, who is starting to trust Braun more than Michael Porter Jr.It's clear now that Miami has one path to beating the Nuggets, which is to knock down three-point shots at a high rate. Salutation, SR Tribe! Welcome, and thank you for coming back for another hearty serving of The Sophisticatedly Ratchet Podcast, giving the real in a world of fake. Within the past several years, the idea that a person can be “canceled” aka, culturally blocked from having a prominent public platform or career — has evolved. The idea of canceling someone coincides with a familiar pattern: A celebrity or other public figure does or says something offensive. A public backlash, often fueled by social media, then comes the calls to cancel the person or basically to end their career. The power of social media has fueled the growth of a Cancel Culture, and now if it pleases the Tribe, we present to you "Cancel Culture Court!" In short, Cancel Culture Court is a For Us By Us (FUBU) court system, which interprets, defends, and applies the law in the name of BLACK CULTURE! Cancel Culture Court reviews defendants (i.e. Will Smith, Kanye West, Ne-Yo, Kyrie Irving, Alphonso Rivera, Tiffany Hadish/Aries Spears) who have been canceled by the black community, reviews offense & charges, and discuss potential appeals if deemed appropriate. The Cancel Culture Court generally does not create the laws, or enforce the laws. However, we did create Cancel Culture Commandments: Thou shall have remorse. Thou shall not take sides against the culture Thou shall not generalize our struggle or race Thou shall protect women and children Thou shall not cancel until all facts are presented Thou shall not cancel immediately Thou shall not cancel once canceled The Cancel Culture Court decides what really happened and what should be done about it, whether a person committed a cancellable offense and what the punishment should be. The court also provides a peaceful way to decide private disputes that cannot be resolved. Depending on the dispute, some cases end up in the federal courts, and some end up in state courts, but the only court that matters right now is Cancel Culture Court! Pull up and tune in, Court is in session! No Bad Days - TJ Chakra Alignment: Sacral chakra- governs how you experience sexuality, creative expression, and emotions. On today's episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on the PGA Tour merging with LIV Golf after years of publicly shaming the golfers who defected to the Saudi-backed golf league. This sudden change of heart feels like it was made out of necessity; perhaps the PGA Tour wasn't as solvent as they led us to believe. Either way, you can't blame a big business for making what they deemed to be a good business decision. Later, J-Mac goes deep on the latest surrounding Kyrie Irving's attempt to recruit LeBron James to the Dallas Mavericks. First off, are we sure Luka Doncic is even on board with Kyrie calling the shots on his team? Secondly, if Dallas does give in to Kyrie's list of demands, would it actually hurt their team's long-term outlook? This is definitely a situation that bears monitoring. On Tue.'s No Dunks, the guys discuss reports that Mavericks star Kyrie Irving has reached out to his former teammate LeBron James in an attempt to see if the Lakers legend would come to Dallas. Could the Mavs actually pull off a trade for LeBron? How realistic is a LeBron-Kyrie reunion in L.A.? What's really going on here? That, plus Tas' biggest takeaways from the Heat-Nuggets NBA Finals, Team USA adds two more stars for this summer's FIBA World Cup, random 20 PPG scorers, and more. --
The rumors linking Kyrie Irving to LeBron James are pretty old hat at this point, but Monday provided a new wrinkle. Instead of Irving heading to LA to join James with the Lakers, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported that Irving has called LeBron to try and get him to come to Dallas. He's got a fan club there, including Irving, Mavs star Luka Doncic, their coach in Jason Kidd, and more. But while Charania's report got everyone's attention, and fast, the actual mechanics of getting James to Dallas are laughably hard. Maybe he'd accept a buyout, if the Lakers would actually offer him one, which they won't. And even then, it seems unlikely he'd leave the kind of money on the table that he'd have to sacrifice to go from a team that made the Western Conference Finals to one that just missed the playoffs. So what about a trade? Well, have you looked at the Mavericks' roster lately? Woof. What if Dallas included as much draft capital as possible, including the 10th pick in this year's Draft? Well, maybe that gets Rob Pelinka's attention, and maybe then only if James demanded to be moved, and threatened to tank the season if he didn't get his way. Not likely, given his history on the court. The notion he'd risk one of his last seasons in the NBA to leverage a trade seems far fetched. So what does this amount to? A good conversation about how the market for Kyrie may not be what he'd hoped, how challenging the task of getting him to Los Angeles will be (and why, therefore, it's unlikely) and how Dallas is in really, really bad shape. Very little room to maneuver, almost forced to give Kyrie a max, but without any real depth or appealing trade material to improve the team. Meanwhile, Monday's show focused a great deal on how Frank Vogel's hiring in Phoenix could impact Darvin Ham's staff. But how might it impact the perception of Ham, as a coach?
