The Patriots need to get younger. They carried the oldest roster in the league this year with an average age of 27 years old. They haven't drafted well on offense and are short on young talent overall. All signs point to a rebuild of sorts in 2020, which is why a breakup with franchise icon Tom Brady actually makes some sense.

The NFL conducted 101 pass interference-related replay reviews during the regular season. Only 24 of them resulted in on-field reversals. This weekend's wild-card playoff games included more of the same, including an obvious offensive PI on the Vikings' Kyle Rudolph that wasn't called on his game-deciding touchdown reception.

At some point in the not-so-distant future, the College Football Playoff will expand, most likely to eight teams. That means we'll be primed for more over-hyped blowouts like LSU's 63-28 beatdown of Oklahoma in the Peach Bowl. 

Eighteen college bowl games and eight NFL playoff games will be played between when Saturday's late Clemson-Ohio State semifinal game goes final, and when the national title game in New Orleans finally arrives on Jan. 13. That's 16 days between playoff rounds. 

Just to avoid elimination in Week 16, the Oakland Raiders needed a win over the Chargers, losses by the Browns, Steelers and Titans, and a Colts win. All of that miraculously happened, and now the Raiders need four more results to fall their way in the season's final week to make the NFL playoffs. The Lakers had a clear game plan against Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo in Thursday's showdown of conference-leading teams. Tom Coughlin has been fired as executive vice president of the Jacksonville Jaguars after the NFL Players Association put the team on blast for repeated violations of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Among the violations were some absurd player fines.
