Sean Baligian opens the episode with a blunt question that's been building for weeks: why do Detroit teams seem so hesitant to make the big move? From the Lions to the Tigers to the Red Wings and Pistons, Sean walks through the frustration many fans are feeling while watching aggressive front offices around the league push their teams forward. He points to examples like Philadelphia's Howie Roseman and other organizations willing to take risks to chase championships, while Detroit often appears content to wait for the “right time.”At the same time, Sean tries to keep perspective. The Lions still have free agency, the draft, and the rest of the offseason to reshape their roster. But with lingering questions on the defensive line, in the secondary, and along the offensive line, it's becoming harder for fans to ignore the feeling that Detroit may be drifting backwards while others get better. The conversation also touches on the Red Wings' trade deadline moves, the brutal playoff picture in the NHL's Eastern Conference, the Pistons' recent struggles, and the growing excitement around Michigan and Michigan State heading into March.Frustrated but fair, Sean breaks down the tension between patience and urgency in Detroit sports and why fans are increasingly asking when “waiting” finally turns into winning.

The guys offer some more thoughts on Cade Mays, Michigan/Michigan State, and the Pistons.
Mike and Rico go to the callers one more time on today's show.
David joined the guys to begin the third hour with some more NFL Free Agency news. Then, they had a debate about whether Jayson Tatum looking solid upon his return from a torn achilles is something or nothing for the Pistons.
Valenti and Rico kicked off the show with their immediate reactions to the Lions signing C Cade Mays to a multi-year deal. They explained why they weren't excited about the move before shifting their focus towards Michigan/MSU yesterday and what Tom Izzo had to say after the game. Then, the guys wondered how worried the Pistons should be with Jayson Tatum now back for the Celtics and reset all of today's topics at the beginning of the final hour.
Valenti and Rico discuss how good Jayson Tatum has looked since his return from his torn achilles and whether this is concerning for the Pistons' chances to win the Eastern Conference.
Mike and Rico take your calls on whether you're concerned about Jayson Tatum's return.

Jerry's here with Maxx Crosby talking about his trade. The Knicks weird weekend as they dominated the Nuggets on Friday and then couldn't shoot against the Lakers yesterday. Luka talked about beating the Knicks. The Nets upset the Pistons in Detroit, college basketball highlights, and both Judge & Soto homer in the WBC.
We opened with the Maxx Crosby trade to the Ravens and talked into the Jets' quarterback puzzle, where Boomer dropped hints that suggest Carson Wentz or Jacoby Brissett could be the move. Jerry's first update had an emotional Crosby reflecting on his trade, a look at the Knicks' inconsistent weekend, the Nets' upset over the Pistons and college basketball highlights. Plus, World Baseball Classic homers from Aaron Judge and Juan Soto & we discussed affordable QB options for the Jets.
Mike Gallagher and Drew Dinkmeyer return to re-address the Eastern Conference that's been shaken up with the news, and performance, of a returning Jayson Tatum that could see Boston once again become the team to beat in the East, as well as discussing why Detroit is experiencing a late-season struggle, and how bad things could get for Philadelphia.
They Said it today hears from Don Sweeney on the trade deadline, Ian Rapoport on the AJ Brown situation and the head coach of the Pistons isn't worried about the Celtics.

A very well-known NBA executive called Coach Brendan Suhr last week with one question about how he'd run his offense. Brendan's answer changed the entire direction of this episode - and it might change how you watch basketball. Mo and Brendan get into what's actually broken about modern NBA offenses, the stats nobody tracks that win playoff series, and a specific matchup from this week that perfectly proves their point. This one gets heated.Jayson Tatum played basketball 298 days after an injury that was supposed to keep him out for the entire season. What happened in the first ten minutes didn't look good. What happened after that should worry every team in the East. Mo and Brendan break down both games, the mental side of the comeback nobody's talking about, and one player making $2.3 million who might be more important to the Celtics than anyone realises. The Detroit Pistons are the 1 seed. They might also be on a four-game losing streak. Brendan has a theory about why this was always coming - and he backs it up with something his championship Detroit teams did that almost nobody in today's NBA is willing to do. Plus the play-in race is getting wild, a former Warriors player is looking reborn, and Mo got fooled by a fake headline about the number one draft pick.
The guys start this week's Best of Valenti with their reactions to the Lions trading away David Montgomery. Plus, they reacted to the new TV/streaming service for the Red Wings and Tigers, Mike offered the people 2 Pistons options, and much more!
The hosts of 92.3 The Fan explore whether the Cleveland Cavaliers have finally evolved into legitimate Eastern Conference contenders, or if they still lack enough "signature" wins against elite opponents to prove their toughness. The guys break down whether the Cavs' recent 113-109 victory over the conference-leading Pistons serves as a definitive statement, potentially signaling that Cleveland is finally ready to challenge for the top of the East.

The March 8, 1976, issue of Sports Illustrated featured Buffalo Braves star Bob McAdoo on the cover, captured in a striking close-up portrait by photographer Neil Leifer, holding the ball at Buffalo Memorial Auditorium under the headline "Hottest Shot in the Game: Buffalo's Bob McAdoo." Just one year removed from winning the 1975 NBA MVP award—his second straight scoring title at 34.1 PPG in 1974-75—McAdoo was still dominating as one of the league's premier scorers and rebounders, leading the Braves in a strong season and representing the peak of his individual brilliance in Buffalo. However, his tenure with the Braves ended abruptly that December when contract disputes and the team's unwillingness to meet his salary demands prompted a trade to the New York Knicks for center John Gianelli and cash. Injuries, including a persistent back issue and later more severe setbacks, began to erode his consistency despite continued high scoring. McAdoo then became a journeyman: traded to the Boston Celtics in 1979 (one season), then to the Detroit Pistons (waived in 1981 due to injuries), a brief stint with the New Jersey Nets, before landing with the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas Eve 1981 in a low-key trade for a second-round pick and cash to bolster depth after Mitch Kupchak's injury. In L.A., he reinvented himself as a potent sixth man on the Showtime-era teams alongside Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and James Worthy, contributing key scoring off the bench to help secure two NBA championships in 1982 and 1985 before concluding his NBA career. Named to the NBA's 75th anniversary team, the 6-10 McAdoo was a force in the NBA and one of it's most prolific scorers winning three scoring titles in succession and is the last player in the league to average 30 points and 15 rebounds per game in 1974. One of the most dominant players in NBA history was still at his peak in 1976, scoring 42 points for the Braves on December 7th of that year. But two days later he was traded to the Knicks and McAdoo tells us that's when he knew this game was actually a business. He remembers what a thrill it was to be on the cover of SI for the first and only time and he recalls how being named MVP is the ultimate prize… until you win an NBA Championship. He tells us how he came off the bench for the first time ever for Pat Riley's teams and while he didn't start most games, he certainly finished them. And he reminisces about meeting his childhood hero Earl “The Pearl” Monroe and what it his relationship was like with Kareem, Riley and Jerry West. One of the smoothest to ever do it in the NBA… Hall of Famer Bob McAdoo on the Past Our Prime podcast. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Celtics went into Cleveland and sent a message to the Cavaliers and the rest of the league, winning 109-98. This one wasn't close for most of the game thanks to Boston's smothering defense and a balanced scoring attack between Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Payton Pritchard, Sam Hauser, and Baylor Scheierman. It appears teams are looking to exploit the Pistons weaknesses. Are you concerned about the NBA Playoffs?
On this episode of the Palace of Pistons Podcast, Aaron Johnson and Jasper Apollonia break down the Detroit Pistons' recent losses to the Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs and what those games revealed about Detroit's ability to compete with the NBA's best teams. As expectations continue to rise around the Pistons this season, the guys analyze where Detroit struggled against elite competition and whether those issues could become a problem in the playoffs. Aaron and Jasper dive into the biggest takeaways from both matchups, including Detroit's offensive execution, defensive breakdowns, and the areas where the team still needs to improve if it wants to truly contend for an NBA championship. They also discuss the impact of star guard Cade Cunningham and whether the supporting cast around him is strong enough to match up with the league's top contenders. The episode also explores whether head coach J.B. Bickerstaff should consider making adjustments to the Pistons' rotation moving forward. Should Detroit tighten the rotation, experiment with different lineups, or make strategic changes to compete with the league's elite teams? With the playoffs approaching and championship conversations beginning to heat up, the guys debate the biggest question surrounding the Pistons right now: Are the Detroit Pistons actually a legitimate NBA championship contender, or are they still a step behind the league's top teams?
