We invited Pastor Layne to speak to our staff for the day and we caught up with him in this hour-long conversation about leadership, culture, and building teams. His family moved to Birmingham from Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he spent several years working as the president of one of the nation’s most successful towing companies and volunteering as a youth pastor at New Life Church. Once Pastor Layne arrived at Highlands, he pioneered Highland’s Student Ministries program as well as the Highlands Leadership Institute, which eventually became Highlands College. He also served as Highlands' first video campus pastor, which paved the way for their church’s multi-site approach. Pastor Layne currently oversees multiple areas of ministry at Highlands. He and his wife, Rachel, have been married since 1996 and have two daughters, Ashlyn and Devyn.
