Is training a change project? My vote is almost always YES. Training is often either being used to drive a change or it's being offered as the result of a change. Why does that matter? 70% of organizational changes fail and L&D has a role to play in this. Key Takeaways: Sound money management principles apply universally and allow individuals to recognize similar practices within businesses and governments. Inflation and currency depreciation are recurring themes in unsound monetary policies, often leading to systemic economic issues. Money, being an energy, should be anchored in assets that are scarce and regulated by natural supply and demand, without human manipulation. There is a clear distinction between assets with intrinsic scarcity and worth (like gold and real estate) and those susceptible to artificial inflation or governmental interference. Understanding these principles is key not just for personal wealth but also for making intelligent investment choices in a complex financial world. Miloš Belčević is a product manager and author who believes that product management principles are powerful not only when managing products, but also when managing the ultimate product; your life itself. He has written a book on the subject, "Build Your Way: Applying Product Management to Life". We spoke about the book as well as some of the lessons inside. Episode highlights: 1. We can apply product management principles to life We can apply product management principles to one's life, beyond just professional settings. This includes using prioritisation frameworks to manage personal goals and tasks, and considering whether there's a "North-Star metric" that can help guide personal growth and decision-making. 2. Context switching can be hell at home as well as work Whether we're switching contexts between different roles in our careers or having to balance multiple responsibilities, we can apply product management strategies to help us prioritise our time and manage our mental bandwidth. 3. We can define "Value" for our life as well as our products There's no magic formula for "value", but it's important to understand the deeper meaning of the concept of value, whether delivering value to customers or identifying what brings value to one's life. 4. Our time is limited and we need to prioritise what's most important to us We don't have to use prioritisation frameworks for everything, but applying product management prioritisation techniques can help us focus on what is most important. If we practice enough, we can get into the habit, and it even becomes somewhat intuitive to our life decisions. 5. Product discovery techniques can foster better interactions and conversations in life We can use our empathic and discovery mindset to help solicit genuine feedback and dig into people's motivations in conversations. This offers the tantalising prospect of being able to bridge ideological divides and improve the quality of our interactions with society as a whole. Check out "Build Your Way" "Perhaps you have heard about product management. Maybe you use it in your work. If that's the case, chances are high that you know that product management is full of useful frameworks, principles, and tools that focus on prioritization and maximizing value, better planning, agile delivery, and more. But what if you want to use these tools in your personal life? How would you do that in a way that will make sure you will live a better, happier, and more fulfilled life? In this book, author Miloš Belčević will show you how." Check it out on Amazon. Contact Miloš You can catch up with Miloš on LinkedIn or check out his website. You have the benefit of seeing more things, but less deeply and your job is to kind of gather these informations and help other people understand it. People forget, you think you're an engineering leader. You think it's actually about making things. It is, but it's also about translating, especially at scale. You're not making anything anymore. Today we are talking about Tip #4 of the 4 tips for how Time Management Principles Can Benefit You, which is Time Management Principles Give You a Sense of Personal Fulfillment. At the end of the day, one of the best things about effective time management is how good it makes you feel about yourself. Without time management, you could very well spend crucial parts of your day wasting time without even meaning to. With so many distractions at arm's reach nowadays, it can be difficult to spend a day on the job without falling to the temptation to jump on Facebook, put off tasks, or procrastinate until after lunch. For this reason, keeping tabs on how you spend your time can not only allow you to get a TON more accomplished, and it will also enable you to feel a lot better about yourself after it is time to go home. Instead of going home and wishing that you would have gotten more done, you can relax because you will know that you got everything done that you needed to accomplish - your highest payoff activities for that day. Over the past 4 days I have shared 4 Ways in Which Time Management Principles Can Benefit You – personally and professionally. Implement one, two, or all 4 of these tips, so you can be even better at time management and accelerate your results. I strongly recommend you consider using a time log to periodically monitor what you do with your time every day for a two-week period of time. You might be amazed at how you actually spend your time versus how you think you spend your time. This can be used with all your team members also. Today we are talking about Tip #2 for how Time Management Principles Can Benefit You, which is Time Management Principles Allow You to Be Even More Productive.By looking ahead and managing your time effectively, you will surely begin to notice that your productivity level will increase as well. Putting time management principles into place will not only help you to make the best use of your time, it will allow you to get a LOT more accomplished! As you efficiently manage your time and organize your tasks in order of importance, you will be able to focus on the most important and maybe the least favorite activities first. This will eliminate the temptation to put important things off, and will, as a result, cause you to get more done in the allotted time. "Time is more valuable than money. Today we are talking about Tip #1 for how Time Management Principles Can Benefit You, which is Time Management Principles Give You Control Over Your Life.Time management actually allows you more control over your life. By planning ahead and figuring out how you are going to fit everything in, you are allowing yourself more control over what actually gets done. Prioritizing the activities that you planned can help you to get them out of the way quickly and easily; therefore, making more room in life for the things that you would rather be doing. A lot of people fail to remember that time is going to get used up every day, no matter what you do. Whether you get a lot done or not, you are STILL going to have 24 less hours than you did the day before. This is why it is so essential to make sure that you are controlling your own destiny by mapping out how you want to get things accomplished. Moving on to the next level of success is going to depend on you being in absolute control of your life. If you cannot even control your time, how do you think that you are going to be able to control anything else? Time management principles can DEFINITELY help with this! In Episode 27 of The Business Development Podcast with host Kelly Kennedy, the focus was on the importance of separating the roles of account management and business development within organizations. Kennedy emphasized that combining these two positions is a common mistake made by companies, and that they should be handled independently. He shared his expertise in both areas and discussed the benefits of allowing business development professionals to focus solely on bringing in new business, while account managers maintain strong relationships with existing customers. Kennedy also expressed gratitude for his listeners and provided updates on the success of the podcast, including a nomination for Best Business Podcast in the upcoming Quill Podcast Awards.Overall, Episode 27 of The Business Development Podcast highlighted the significance of maintaining separate account management and business development roles. Kennedy stressed the importance of building strong relationships with customers through account management and focusing on new business development separately. He expressed appreciation for his listeners and shared updates on the podcast's success, including a nomination for an industry award.Key Takeaways:Combining business development and account management roles can be a mistake and should be handled independently.Account management is crucial for building strong relationships with customers, increasing consumption of products or services, and maximizing retention and upsell opportunities.Swapping out account reps frequently is not ideal and they should stay with the account for as long as the customer remains a customer.Business development people should focus on bringing in new business and making new connections, while account managers should focus on maintaining and cultivating relationships with existing customers.Building friendships and relationships with customers is important in generating loyalty and advocacy. Objectives and objections from customers should be anticipated and addressed effectively to move forward with the relationship.Providing value and building long-term relationships is more beneficial than squeezing profits from individual deals.Customers who view account managers as friends are more likely to be lifelong customers and champions of the company.Separating account management from business development may require additional resources, but it can lead to more effective results in the long run.
