ABOUT THE MESSAGEIn Part 2 of The Bible series, Pastor Mark Stermer teaches that just as our bodies need food to live, our spirit needs the Word of God to thrive. Jesus declared that we “shall not live on bread alone,” reminding us that true life is sustained by every word from God. This message walks us through the essentials of taking in God's Word—being born again, relying on the Holy Spirit, meditating on Scripture, studying the whole counsel of God, and allowing His truth to transform our thinking and actions. When we stop adding worldly philosophies, trust the Lord with all our hearts, and actually do what His Word says, we grow into healthy, whole, 2.0 human beings who flourish and reflect Christ in everyday life.  ABOUT JESUSIf you want to learn more about who Jesus is and what it means to have a relationship with Him, we would love to help you on that journey: https://www.thechurch.fm/jesus For a deeper dive into The Word of God on a daily basis check out our Free Ancient Paths Daily Devotional: https://www.thechurch.fm/ancient-paths WHO WE AREWe believe that the goal of every Christian is To Be Conformed Into the Image of Jesus Christ, and a relationship with Jesus as well as being involved in a healthy church community are both important to achieving that goal. It's Bible Month!!! ABOUT THE MESSAGEIn Part 1 of The Bible series, we take a compelling look at why God's Word is not just a book, but the very source of truth, life, and transformation. Through powerful teaching, we discover that Scripture is both a map and a meeting place—a guide that reveals God's character and a space where the Holy Spirit hovers, speaks, and brings dead things back to life. Whether confronting the lies of culture, wrestling with doubt like Adam and Eve, or learning from Jesus' victory over temptation, we see clearly that real strength comes from knowing God's Word deeply and knowing the Father personally. From Genesis' creative power to Ezekiel's valley of dry bones, we're reminded of this rhythm: when the Word fills us, life begins to rise again. God is still speaking—our job is to listen, ruminate, and respond. People talk about the dead church. My friend, the church is not dead. Thechurch is the body of Christ. Christ would have to die for the church to die.But Christ will not die. He is resurrected. The church is alive and well. Theproblem is a bunch of us believers who do not know what our position and power isin Jesus Christ, and we're living as though we are dead. Oh my God, help us towake up to the riches that we have in Christ Jesus that Paul's talking abouthere to the church at Ephesus. AsPaul has already stated, he's been given a ministry because it's been revealedto him and the apostles the power and the ministry of the church. The mysteryof the church, the body of Christ that brings us together and makes us one. Thismystery and ministry is not only important to Paul as an apostle, which hemakes it really clear in verse 8, but it is also important to the Gentiles: "Tome who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given that Ishould preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ." Paulknows he has a ministry and he has a new power, the power of the Holy Spirit, the resurrected Christ working through him to fulfill the ministry that God hasgiven him.  Heis also making it clear that we as Gentiles, are members of His church, and bothJews and Gentiles, have the same power, have the same opportunity to ministerand serve. We not only have a new position, we have a new power. I love what Paulwrites in verse 7, "Of which I became a minister according to the giftof the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power."Paul is saying that the only way we can fulfill the ministry that God has givenus and exercise the gift that God's given us, is by His grace. Paul wrote in 1Corinthians 15:10, “Only by His grace, I am what I am." We need toremember that God's marvelous and wonderful grace is given to us when we humbleourselves. “God resists the proud, but He gives grace to the humble” (James4:6). As we've already stated in previous chats, grace is everything we need,to be all that we should be for the glory of God, and to be energized by HisHoly Spirit to do His will!  Paulcalled it “the effective working of His power”.  The word "working" here is energeiafrom which we get our word "energy." People often say to me,"Pastor Mike, how do you get all that energy?" Well the truth is, Idon't feel like I have any energy. I'm physically worn out, especially with myage and my health at this point in my life. But I know that I get energy as Irely upon the Holy Spirit of the living God to work through me. At the momentof my obedience to His calling and leading and to His ministry He's given us,there's an energy that comes into me that's unexplainable.  Thatresurrection energy is the power of God. The word "power" is dunamiswhich gives us our words "dynamic" and "dynamite." Paul hasalready told us about this mighty power in Ephesians 1:19-23, and he willmention it again in Ephesians 3:20 and Ephesians 4:16. The mighty resurrectionpower of Christ is available to us for daily life and service. It is found in in“the unsearchable riches of Christ”, that Paul says he'spreaching among the Gentiles. And this is also what we should be sharing withthe world around us. The unfathomable riches of Jesus Christ.  Oh,we're so wealthy in Jesus. If only we would open our hearts, our minds, and ourlives to this great truth and reality, we would not be dead Christians. We'd beliving Christians sharing the light of the Gospel with everyone around us.  Godhelp us today. The world needs Jesus. He is the only answer to their problemsand difficulties and challenges. And they can only find Jesus through us as weshare Jesus with them. Godbless!

Delivered by Vivian from the Parish Saint Thomas the Apostle in the Archdiocese of Jakarta, Indonesia. Romans 14: 7-12; Rs psalm 27: 1.4.13-14; Luke 15: 1-10.BEING GOD'S PEOPLE Our meditation todayhas entitled: Being God's People. The teenager and adult catechumens arepreparing themselves for baptism in the coming Holy Week. They hold regulardiscussions at every meeting during learning activities. There was a veryinteresting discussion session, and a young man who participated in this sessionthen shared his reflection. At that time theydiscussed on the consequences one should face after the baptism. In general, they understand that all rules and teachings in the Catholic Church must bediligently followed. For this young man, those general guidelines andinstructions are very normative. That means, each and every member of theCatholic Church must obey and practice them. The focus of his attention is hispersonal commitment to be responsible for his own faith. He is very seriousabout that commitment. This has abackground. Before choosing to be baptized Catholic, he had gone throughperiods of conflict and suffering. He involved in many types of crimes in thesociety, and had spent two years life in prison. Reflecting on his way of life,he then made a conclusion, that if God had created him, God certainly will takecare and guide him, even though he is a very sinful person. In short, he cannotrun away from God. God will catch him anywhere and anytime. The young man reallyrealizes that he belongs to God. This belief then led him to the decision tochoose to come close to God, through baptism in the Catholic Church. The youngman's experience is a reflection of what is said in the first reading of today, that is, whether we live or die, we remain belong to God. As God has good andrighteous people, this is something very natural. They always reveal the faceof God in the world through their real lives. They are the light of God for theworld. But this does notmean that God closes His eyes to those who are sinners or who are weak infaith. A husband and wife never give up on their children who do not praydiligently, do not attend the Holy Mass regularly every Sunday, and are notactive in Church activities. They believe that their children still belong toGod. Even though it seems they are far away and outside the circle of theChurch, they also never forget and negate God. They still pray individually andentrust their lives into God's hands. In fact, God isguiding them and many others who are living like the lost sheep, who in propertime will return to the sheepfold, the Church. Everyone has his or her own timeto become again the good sheep. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... O tender and kind Lord, make us Your true shepherds who will find the manylost sheeps in whatever place in this world, and to bring them back to You.Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit ... In the name ofthe Father...

What if the very pain you've endured is the key God wants to use to bring healing and hope to others? ABOUT THE MESSAGEIn Part 3 of the Heal Me series, Pastor Mark Stermer reminds that when life feels overwhelming, God's Word calls us to give thanks in every circumstance and to keep moving forward into His healing. Just as Joshua was told to arise and cross the Jordan, we too must choose to step into the future God has prepared rather than stay bound by yesterday's pain. Healing takes time—like a broken bone needing therapy—but when that time is spent in God's presence, He restores us and teaches us perseverance. Our grief and tears are never wasted; He records them and transforms them into comfort, so that the healing we receive can overflow into the lives of others. How do we find real healing for the wounds of life? Are you fighting for healing, or still carrying the pain God is waiting to lift? ABOUT THE MESSAGEIn Part 2 of the Heal Me series, Pastor Mark Stermer reminds us that Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted and set us free from the trauma, pain, and afflictions that weigh us down. Through Scripture and personal experience, we learn that healing is something we must fight for by crying out to God with honesty and passion—whether through writing, prayer, pleading, or worship. Just as Hannah poured out her soul before the Lord, we too can release our deepest fears and sorrows, trusting that God hears us, draws near to the brokenhearted, and brings peace and deliverance. Let's stop carrying hidden pain and start expressing it to the One who can truly heal!ABOUT JESUSIf you want to learn more about who Jesus is and what it means to have a relationship with Him, we would love to help you on that journey: https://www.thechurch.fm/jesus For a deeper dive into The Word of God on a daily basis check out our Free Ancient Paths Daily Devotional: https://www.thechurch.fm/ancient-pathsWHO WE AREWe believe that the goal of every Christian is To Be Conformed Into the Image of Jesus Christ, and a relationship with Jesus as well as being involved in a healthy church community are both important to achieving that goal. Paul is provoked to engage when he saw people who didn't know that they could know Jesus. What about us? Are we provoked to engage or are we provoked to withdraw? All of us are called to theCHURCH's mission of making it easier for people to know Jesus and to lead them into a growing relationship with him.

How do we find real healing for the wounds of life? ABOUT THE MESSAGEIn Part 1 of the Heal Me series, Pastor Mark Stermer reminds us that being a Christian does not mean we avoid suffering, but it does mean we have a hope greater than ourselves. Too often people search for healing in the wrong places, when true healing can only be found by looking upward—to Jesus Christ, our firm foundation. God always brings His people through their darkest valleys, and He wants to do the same for us today. If you've been carrying trauma, pain, or brokenness, there is hope and healing in Jesus—because He is enough.ABOUT JESUSIf you want to learn more about who Jesus is and what it means to have a relationship with Him, we would love to help you on that journey: https://www.thechurch.fm/jesus For a deeper dive into The Word of God on a daily basis check out our Free Ancient Paths Daily Devotional: https://www.thechurch.fm/ancient-pathsWHO WE AREWe believe that the goal of every Christian is To Be Conformed Into the Image of Jesus Christ, and a relationship with Jesus as well as being involved in a healthy church community are both important to achieving that goal. Ephesians 1:13-14 - The "Guarantee" and "Earnest" of Our Salvation

Herein verses 13 and 14, Paul tells us that we were sealed by the Holy Spirit.Already we've talked about what God the Father has given us. We talked aboutJesus Christ and what He has given us. Now we're talking about the Holy Spiritand what He gives us even today. He says we also, who have believed and trustedin Christ, were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. He seals us. That wasour lesson yesterday. Today,in verse 14, we learn about the guarantee we have by the Holy Spirit. Anotherword used for guarantee in the old King James is the word “earnest”. It reads, “Whichis the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchasedpossession, unto the praise of his glory”.  This word earnest is a very fascinatingword. In Paul's day, it meant the down payment to guarantee the final purchaseof some commodity or a piece of property. Even today, when you buy a piece ofproperty or you might hear the real estate agent mention the word earnest, thedown payment, the guarantee that you're going to pay the final price on thisproperty when you go to settlement in the lawyer's office. TheHoly Spirit is God's first installment to guarantee to you and me, Hischildren, that He will finish the work He begun in us and that He will eventuallybring us to glory. This “earnest” is for “the redemption of the purchasedpossession”. This refers to the redemption of the body at the return ofChrist for His Church. Romans 8:18-23 and 1 John 3:1-3 both speak of thisexperience! Redemption,as we know it in Scripture, is experienced in three different stages: Wehave been redeemed through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:7).Weare being redeemed as the Spirit works in our lives to make us more like Christ(Romans 8:1-4). Weshall be redeemed one day when Christ returns, and we become His for eternity.  Butthe word “earnest” can also means “engagement ring”. Matter offact, in Greece today, you might find this word still being used that way.Isn't that what an engagement ring is? It's an assurance. It's a guarantee thatthe promise that you make to each other to be wed one day will be kept. Myfriend, our relationship to Jesus Christ and to God is not a commercial one. It'sa personal one. It's a personal experience of love. He is the bridegroom. Thechurch is His bride. Jesus is making the guarantee with the presence of theHoly Spirit in your life that one day He will come for His bride. He is goingto keep His promise. Maybe that is why He is called the Holy Spirit of promise. Whatgreater assurance do we need to have? I'm often asked, “Can I lose mysalvation? They say, “I don't feel saved. I don't have the assurance that Ikeep my salvation because I still sin. I still do things I shouldn't do”. ReadRomans 6 and 8. These two chapters should give you great assurance of your positionin Christ, and reminds you that you will never be separated from the love ofGod that's in Christ Jesus. Absolutely nothing can separate you. Why? The “Earnest”,the Guarantee has been given. You have the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit isthere right now in your life, never to be taken away. Yes,can grieve the Holy Spirit, and you can quench Him, but you will never loseHim. Why? Because Jesus said, "He that comes to Me, I will by no meanscast out” (John 6:37). And Jesus promised in John 14:16, “And I will praythe Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with youforever”. My friend, “forever” means “forever”! Mayyou be especially blessed today as you relish the guarantee that you are His,and He is yours, and you're forever experiencing and enjoying His love.  Godbless!

Are you positioned to hear God when He speaks? ABOUT THE MESSAGEIn Part 4 of the Encounter series, Pastor Sam Muyaka helps us look at the story of Samuel and how God called him by name. Samuel's encounter didn't happen by accident—it was the result of Hannah's devotion, Eli's guidance, and Samuel's own response. Hannah's prayers and sacrifice positioned him for God's presence, Eli's wisdom gave him the direction to recognize God's voice, and Samuel's obedience allowed him to respond with the words, “Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.” Are we in position to hear God when He speaks, and will we respond with a heart that's ready? ABOUT JESUSIf you want to learn more about who Jesus is and what it means to have a relationship with Him, we would love to help you on that journey: https://www.thechurch.fm/jesus For a deeper dive into The Word of God on a daily basis check out our Free Ancient Paths Daily Devotional: https://www.thechurch.fm/ancient-paths WHO WE AREWe believe that the goal of every Christian is To Be Conformed Into the Image of Jesus Christ, and a relationship with Jesus as well as being involved in a healthy church community are both important to achieving that goal. A quick note on secondary sources: Christian materials donot always treat Mormonism fairly or go the extra mile topresent Mormon ideas as a Mormon would recognize them. One book that does is Andrew Jackson's MormonismExplained: What Latter-day Saints Teach and Practice. I alsorecommend A Different Jesus? The Christ of the Latter-DaySaints by BYU professor Robert Millet. Richard Mouwconcedes too much in his Foreword and Afterword, but it isstill helpful to get Mormon Christology from a Mormonhimself.1. View of history. In Mormon thinking, the rise ofMormonism was not merely a reformation or renewal of thechurch. It was a complete restoration. Following the death ofChrist's apostles, the church fell into complete apostasy. Thechurch lost divine authority and true doctrine. There is nounbroken continuity from the early church to the present.Christianity, for almost all of its history, was false and withoutthe truth—until Joseph Smith and his revelation. Mormonismnot only rejects historic orthodox Christianity, the entirereligion is based on the need for such repudiation.2. View of revelation. Mormons believe the Bible (the KJVversion), but do not consider it inerrant. Neither do theyconsider the Bible complete. What makes Mormonismunique is their belief in continuing revelation sustainedthrough prophets, seers, and revelators. So while Mormonsaffirm the Bible, they also affirm the inspiration of the Bookof Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of GreatPrice. Through an elaborate hierarchy of President, FirstPresidency, Twelve Apostles, First Quorum of the Seventy, and Second Quorum of the Seventy, Mormons can receiveauthoritative interpretations and new authoritativerevelations.Kevin DeYoung is the senior pastor at Christ CovenantChurch (PCA) in Matthews, North Carolina and associateprofessor of systematic theology at Reformed TheologicalSeminary. For more information about this group, please visit their website at reformationboise.com. When we give our lives for the sake of the Gospel, we don't lose—it's then that we truly gain.ABOUT JESUSIf you want to learn more about who Jesus is and what it means to have a relationship with Him, we would love to help you on that journey: https://www.thechurch.fm/jesus For a deeper dive into The Word of God on a daily basis check out our Free Ancient Paths Daily Devotional: https://www.thechurch.fm/ancient-pathsWHO WE AREWe believe that the goal of every Christian is To Be Conformed Into the Image of Jesus Christ, and a relationship with Jesus as well as being involved in a healthy church community are both important to achieving that goal. Let's commit to receiving, growing, and walking in the Spirit's gifts to build God's kingdom and change the world together! ABOUT THE MESSAGEIn this message, Pastor Mark Stermer explores Spiritual Intelligence (SQ) - God's measure of our hearts and faith. While IQ (Intelligence Quotient) and EQ (Emotional Quotient) shape our thinking and emotions, SQ reflects our connection to God and how we live out His calling. Scripture shows that God weighs our spirit and empowers us through the Holy Spirit. Jesus gave His church the Spirit's power, not for individual gain but to work together as one body. As a community, we are called to receive, grow in, and walk in the Spirit's gifts to build God's kingdom and change the world.ABOUT JESUSIf you want to learn more about who Jesus is and what it means to have a relationship with Him, we would love to help you on that journey: https://www.thechurch.fm/jesus For a deeper dive into The Word of God on a daily basis check out our Free Ancient Paths Daily Devotional: https://www.thechurch.fm/ancient-pathsWHO WE AREWe believe that the goal of every Christian is To Be Conformed Into the Image of Jesus Christ, and a relationship with Jesus as well as being involved in a healthy church community are both important to achieving that goal.
