Our guest preacher this week is our Director of Student Ministries, Joseph McCartney. His passage is 1 Corinthians 4.
The Great Commission…most all of us are quite familiar with the final words our Lord Jesus shared with His disciples, as recorded in the Gospel of Matthew, instructing them to “go and make disciples.” Indeed, with this command, Jesus gave His followers a “life purpose” that would guide them wherever they would go and with whomever they would speak from that day forward. Certainly, in the years that followed, each of them would boldly proclaim the Good News of Christ Jesus to their friends, families, neighbors, and other communities far and wide. But each of them was led to do so by the Holy Spirit in unique ways. Today, we find ourselves as the eternally grateful benefactors of their decision to adhere to Jesus' command to make other disciples. Indeed, we are those “disciples of all nations” many generations later. And as His disciples, the Great Commission applies to us as well. Like them, it should give us “life purpose” as well. However, the manner in which we walk out the Great Commission may look, feel, and sound very different as we following His leading in our lives. We are each given a mission designed just for us. The question is: How are we doing with that? During this message, we will celebrate the amazing high school and college graduates from our River family. As we launch them into the next chapter of their lives to share the Good News of Jesus, we will all take an opportunity to consider the role the Great Commission does (or should) play in our lives. And if you aren't quite sure what your mission is, I will be sharing some practical tips that you can use to discover it. Congratulations to the Class of 2025! In this episode of The Church Planting Podcast, host Greg Nettle is joined by Tim Celek from Stadia's post-launch team and two dynamic kids ministry leaders from Georgia—Brittany Ara of City Church Griffin and Robyn Alexander of Foundation Christian Church. Together, they outline five essential principles for church leaders who want to reach and disciple the next generation: Safety isn't optional – Every church needs a clear child protection policy. Not sure where to start? Ask neighboring churches to share their handbooks. Leadership matters – Recruit leaders who can lead teams, not just love kids. Burnout is real without shared responsibility. Let kids serve – Kids and teens need hands-on opportunities to experience their faith, not just hear about it. Know your ‘one' – Ditch cookie-cutter strategies and design ministry that fits your local community's needs and rhythms. Recruit with vision, not guilt – Celebrate wins from the stage, don't beg for volunteers. Help your team build a long-term system for healthy recruiting. They also share fun, creative ideas like using an ice cream truck for outreach and creating dual summer camp models for different demographics. It's a practical, passionate guide for any church looking to multiply its impact through children's ministry. 00:26 – Meet Brittany Ara & Robyn Alexander 02:10 – Why Stadia Prioritizes the Next Generation 03:15 – 5 Things Every Church Leader Needs to Know 03:45 – #1: Safety Must Come First 07:13 – #2: Healthy Kids Ministry Requires Strong Leadership 12:00 – #3: Empower Kids & Teens to Serve 14:00 – Creative Outreach Ideas: Ice Cream Truck Ministry 17:00 – Involving Kids in "Big Church" 19:11 – #4: Forget What You've Seen Before – Know Your Community 21:00 – Real-Life Camp Examples That Meet Families Where They Are 25:39 – Balancing Technology in Kids Ministry 26:00 – #5: Volunteer Recruiting Should Be Vision-Driven 29:00 – What Keeps These Leaders Going
"...As far as East is from West..." (Psalm 103:12) That's how far God separates our sins from us. He gives us MERCY when we deserve punishment. He Gives us GRACE when we deserve to be chewed up and left in our misery... or worse. Billy's (one of my former youth students) story is a humbling one for a senior in high school. I hope his story helps you to see one of your young teenage students the way God sees them. God has personally shown me plenty of MERCY and GRACE that I do not deserve. I hope as you listen in to this episode that you see how God is speaking through you. _______________________________ Looking for a new student ministry resource? A generation ago, student ministers would often make the leap to the lead pastor role after a few years. Does this kind of move still happen? If so, is it a good thing or not? Unfortunately, sometimes ministry positions outside of the lead pastor are seen as a lesser role in the life of the church. Josh and Sam break down the good and bad of leaping from student ministry to lead pastor. The post Is Student Ministry Still a Stepping Stone? appeared first on Church Answers.

Character changes lives before talent. God will lift up the humble to confound the wise of this world. The old saying is this... "God does not choose the qualified, He qualifies the chosen." Many of us have plenty of experiences with math, especially when we were younger. Perhaps some of your memories of what math was like for you in school are unpleasant, to say the least. Yet there are many people who are passionate about mathematics, especially Christians who see mathematics as the God-given language by which we can better understand not only the physical world around us, but God Himself. Naturalism has no real answers for why mathematics is so useful and even beautiful and practical not only for doing science, but in our everyday lives. And how are beauty and mathematics linked? What do beauty and math tell us about God Himself? This week we wrap up our conversation with youth leader, math professor, friend of Watchman Fellowship and Christian apologist Paige Lehrmann. Paige will share with us her passion about mathematics, beauty, and how we can incorporate them in our defense for the hope that is in us (1 Peter 3:15). Paige Lehrmann is the Director of Student Ministries at St. Andrew's Community Church in Oklahoma City and a student at Dallas Theological Seminary. She earned her B.A. in Philosophy and Mathematics from Oklahoma Baptist University, where she completed an interdisciplinary thesis on the Trinity. Paige went on to pursue graduate studies in mathematics at the University of Oklahoma and has taught as an adjunct professor at Mid-America Christian University. She has presented at apologetics conferences on topics such as the Trinity, the divinity of Christ, and theistic arguments from beauty. Through her work, she hopes to help others think deeply about faith, truth, and the beauty of the Gospel. You may contact Paige via email at Paige.lehrmann@gmail.com. Rainy days can be challenging, but it's all in how we look at them. In this episode, I refer to Elijah praying 3 times, but instead he prayed 7 times in 1 Kings 18:43-46. Often we will pray once or twice for something and decide that God is not going to do what we asking. Jim Halstead (who has 2 interviews on this podcast), prayed for me and my ministry every week for more than 10 years. It kept our student ministry on task and gaining spiritual ground in our church and community. It was almost 20 years before I knew about that and those prayers, but it made spiritual sense. There was a spiritual rainfall in our student ministry for almost 3 decades and Jim had something to do with that awakening in our community through our student ministry. Enjoy The Rain! God's Blessing over a dry and burned up land. The rain is on its way! Get out there and plant the seeds of faith before it comes, so you will be ready for the rain. _______________________________ Looking for a new student ministry resource? We have all had meaningful and profound encounters with beauty in our lives. Even though we often know what we mean when we say "That is absolutely beautiful," beauty, as it turns out, is not easy to articulate in words. It goes far beyond outward or aesthetically pleasing appearances. There is much more theological depth and complexity to the topic of beauty than what may be "in the eye of the beholder." Our guest this week and next on the Profile is Miss Paige Lehrmann, friend of Watchman Fellowship, Christian apologist, youth leader, and math professor. We'll be discussing Paige's insights about the nature of beauty and how it points us to Christ. Paige Lehrmann is the Director of Student Ministries at St. Andrew's Community Church in Oklahoma City and a student at Dallas Theological Seminary. Invite Your Enemies by Lucas Bane. April 27, 2025. BIG IDEA: We have spent the year talking about inviting your friends and the cause circle, what if I told you are also called to pray, care for, and share the gospel with your enemies. How do you treat people you don't like? The people you have beef with. The ones who spread rumors about you or have betrayed you. I promise you that it matters to God how you treat them. We invite our friends because we love them and want them to know Christ. Jesus calls us to extend his love and gospel to those that we call enemies, so that they can go from enemies to brothers/sisters in Christ. He calls us to invite our enemies. EDGE Student Ministries.

Send us a textAre you ready to grow the size and health of your youth ministry? Check outGrowYourYouthMinistry.com *** As a youth pastor, do you ever feel like you are becoming just a program director? This question haunted me early in youth ministry, especially as our youth group grew. What I discovered transformed our approach—program isn't the goal, but rather the vehicle that creates community, which in turn facilitates genuine discipleship and Christ-centered transformation. In this episode, we unpack five practical strategies that have revolutionized our ministry's impact. Youth ministry should never be measured by attendance numbers or entertainment value. Success is creating communities where students find belonging and discipleship that sustains their faith journey long after graduation.=========
