Today we talk to Steven Dahn about his experience chasing big Black Bears in SW Oregon. Steven lives in an area that has a strong population of bears. The steep landscape and thick forest makes for a tough hunt, but also very rewarding. Black Bear are a unique and fun species to hunt. Keeping their numbers down protects deer/elk numbers as well as provides great hunting opportunity during times of the year where there may not be many other options. Plus they make great bear tacos!
Today’s podcast is going to be about shifting gears and perspectives as I sit down in our backyard with my partner, and better half Steven Dahn. This show is a little more off the cuff, and carries some great food for thought. I wanted to cover a few topics that are very important and commonly over looked or over thought. Steven has a long history of working with woman of all ages and has a very unique male perspective of some of the struggles we face as women. We cover: •How women tend to spread our “bandwidth” a bit thin and leave ourselves as last on the list. •Advice for the fellas on how to “listen to your lady” instead of trying to fix all her problems. •The trouble of not asking for help and the power that comes along with being a little vulnerable by asking for help. •Having too much skin in the game and forgetting about our to do list and checking in with what really fills our cup. With the sun shining and a cool spring breeze, Steven and I talk about all the unwritten and often unseen responsibilities of busy women and how we need to focus on taking over the world with some help rather than trying to do it alone.
On today’s FDF Courtney and Steven break down what “Elevation Fitness Training” is, how it works, who it’s for, and how it is laser focused on the western states hunter. They go over the entire process from the first contact all the way through the process to signing in on your smartphone and accessing your personalized workout for the day. This is a revolutionary system of fully customizable fitness coaching that will take ANYONE to achieve their goals! We hope you enjoy this podcast and have a clear understanding of how exactly EFT works, and how you can benefit from the program! Today Courtney and Steven sit down and talk about Courtney's comeback from 4 major surgeries that she has gone through since late December. They go over not only why she had to undergo these procedures, but more importantly the tool she had to utilize in order to continue forward. They also talk about the impact on the family and what you can expect as a partner when helping a loved one through a string of tough times. They discuss the power of exercise and how it can burn the stress hormones that piled high from an abundance of inactivity and what it takes to not only find motivation to keep pushing, but to maintain that motivation. Courtney and Steven dig deep and get a bit vulnerable in this episode. Steven Dahn is my main guest on todays show! I say main guest because his partner in crime Courtny LeVesque makes an appearance as well! Steven and Courtney run a fitness program called Elevation Fitness training. This program is designed to help people get outdoors and become more prepared for the mountain hunting lifestyle. Steven and I turn this podcast into story time. Steven starts off with a couple amazing elk hunting experiences and I add to them with elk stories of my own. Then Steven shares his goal of finally taking a black tail buck they have been after for a few years. If you like elk stories this podcast is for you!
Courtney LeVesque and Steven Dahn from Elevation Fitness Training sat down with us at The Northwest Mountain Challenge at Hoodoo ski resort. Courtney and Steven are both Certified Personal Trainers. They are both very active in the hunting community and have started an online Personal Training business called Elevation Fitness Training. Whether you want to train at home or the gym, they will design a custom program based on your needs to help you achieve your goals! In the past year Courtney underwent 4 major surgeries, one of which being shoulder surgery. As an avid hunter and a dedicated archer, she breaks down what it took for her recovery and how she worked around her injuries to remain active in what she loves. With one arm in a sling she picked up a bow and decided to shoot with a mouth tab. Throughout her drive and persistence she became very accurate out past 40 yards. Courtney's success with her mouth tab inspired Josh to pick up a left handed bow and give it a shot! Listen as she gives Josh tips and pointers on everything from how to set the bow up, to form and shot sequence! Courtney and Steven are great people with a great sense of humor which makes them a perfect fit for the show!
