Empowered Relationship Podcast: Your Relationship Resource And Guide
About this Episode Is achieving a secure attachment really the ultimate marker of relationship success or could this mindset be doing more harm than good? In the quest for intimacy and connection, many of us fall into the trap of labeling ourselves and our partners, clinging to the idea that “secure” is the only way to be. But what happens when relationships don't fit neatly into these categories, or when past experiences have shaped us in ways that make security seem out of reach? The pressure to be “securely attached” can sometimes backfire, leading to shame, blame, and a sense of hopelessness. In this episode, you'll discover why secure attachment doesn't have to be the ultimate destination, and why striving for secure functioning—those daily choices and mindful practices that build safety and trust—can be a far more compassionate and realistic goal. Drawing on insights from trauma work, attachment research, and couples therapy, this conversation unpacks the pitfalls of categorizing relationships as “good” or “bad,” explores the nuances of healing within partnership, and offers actionable ways to build resilience, understanding, and growth—no matter where you are on the attachment spectrum. Hanna Basel is a seasoned couples therapist and certified sex therapist. With expertise in attachment, trauma, and emotionally focused therapy (EFT), she helps people untangle their most complicated relationship patterns. As a former addictions counselor, Hanna brings both clinical expertise and lived experience to her work. She has been featured on CNN, Kare 11, MSN, and numerous podcasts where she talked about her ultimate and simple goal: to help people build relationships that help us heal and thrive. Check out the transcript of this episode on Dr. Jessica Higgin's website. When I first burned out in my business, I thought it was from overwork. But the real root wasn't hustle—it was trauma. In this deeply personal episode, I open up about how perfectionism, people-pleasing, and old childhood wounds drove me to exhaustion. I talk about how I ignored rest, skipped meals, and pushed through every red flag until I hit my breaking point. What helped me heal wasn't just strategy—it was learning to regulate my nervous system. I'm sharing the tools that helped me stop spiraling, reconnect with my body, and start building a business from a place of safety and sustainability—not survival. If you've ever felt stuck in overwhelm or anxious no matter how much you “get done,” this one's for you. Key Takeaways Why burnout isn't just about working too much How trauma and perfectionism drive overworking What nervous system dysregulation looks like in business Fight, flight, freeze, and fawn: what these survival states mean How nervous system healing changed my work, parenting, and coaching Cold water resets and vagus nerve work Breathwork and shaking for emotional release How to regulate even when you're busy or launching Micro boundaries that protect your energy The truth about worth, rest, and productivity Resources Mentioned YourHealthCoachBiz.com – Done-for-you programs and content so you can stop overworking and start scaling Cold water technique: vagus nerve reset Shaking and dancing: trauma release Breathing practices: 4-7-8 and box breathing EFT and tapping: somatic rewiring Community and co-regulation: don't heal alone You're not broken. You're not lazy. If you're stuck, anxious, or exhausted—it's not a strategy issue. It's a nervous system one. And healing is possible.

In this unforgettable episode, Dr. John Price sits down with writer, ritualist, and mytho-technologist Sean Manseau, whose work bridges depth psychology, psychedelics, performance, and esoteric theology. Together, they explore Entheogenic Fitness Training (EFT)—a radical spiritual system designed for the metamodern age. EFT combines physical resistance training, psychedelic states, mythic storytelling, and ritual performance to create a structured path of transformation. At its core is the archetype of the Phonomancer—a shamanic superhero trained to channel divine energy through movement, voice, and ecstatic states. Sean also shares the inner journey behind his visionary book The Devil You Know, a Jungian-style self-analysis written as a dialogue between two imagined selves. This conversation offers a deep dive into imagination, magic, trauma, shadow work, and the struggle to maintain integrity while mapping new sacred ground. From ayahuasca visions to ecstatic dance, from black magic to simulated belief, this is a conversation for those willing to question what's real, what's possible, and what the future of spiritual practice might become. Topics Covered: How suffering can become sacred resistance Psychedelics as initiatory stressors (not just therapy) Make-Believe vs. Make-Belief as spiritual technology Designing a religion for the age of simulation The adversary as a real force in consciousness Ritual performance as a container for ego death From anima to AI: dialoguing with the inner divine Addiction, psychosis, and how to build inner structure The idea of “Functional Enlightenment” and training spiritual capacity Gnosis, the Christ archetype, and becoming a conscious myth-maker In This Episode (00:00) Introduction and updates (06:35) Ayahuasca, ritual, and the origin of EFT (13:00) Phonomantic method and psychedelic training (17:00) Make-believe, religion, and sacred play (22:00) Ecstatic states, magic, and the imaginal (30:00) Dark magic, possession, and archetypal rage (35:00) Writing The Devil You Know as active imagination (41:00) Addiction, psychosis, and safety in altered states (49:00) Resistance, shamanic ecology, and loving the adversary (57:00) What is Functional Enlightenment? I encourage listeners to become beginners again, try new things, and let their children witness their personal growth and resilience. Are therapists still thriving in private practice in this economy? In this episode, I sit down with Courtney Fyvolent, a trauma-informed EMDR and EFT specialist who successfully relocated her practice from Florida to South Carolina and built a full, private-pay caseload in the process. We talk about how she did it without relying on social media ads, what mindset shifts helped her stay the course during slow seasons, and why her clinical focus became her greatest marketing tool. From ranking on Google through DIY SEO to forming authentic referral relationships over coffee, Courtney shares the steps that actually worked and what didn't. If you're a therapist wondering how to grow (or rebuild) your caseload without burning out, or if you're craving more depth and connection in the way you work, this episode will give you both strategy and inspiration. You'll walk away feeling empowered that yes, you can build the practice you want, even in a saturated market. Topics Covered In This Episode: 5:15 – The exact steps Courtney took before moving states that made all the difference 7:12 – The surprising key to referrals that doesn't involve networking events or cold DMs 8:27 – Why intensives aren't her biggest income driver—and what actually is 10:08 – What to focus on when the phone stops ringing 11:42 – The retention method therapists rarely talk about but desperately need 13:21 – The small action that gets clients calling back months (or even years) later 17:52 – Why your consultation call may be the real make-or-break for your business I hope you let Courtney's story and grounded strategy give you the clarity, confidence, and spark you need to grow your own thriving business. If you love what you hear, don't forget to subscribe, leave a review, and share this episode with a fellow therapist who needs the reminder that success is still possible—even now. Have you ever felt like the very thing you want -(being seen, celebrated, chosen, and ACHIEVING EPIC SUCCESS) was also the scariest thing you could allow because of the 'cost associated'? In this episode, we dive into The Visibility Wound. Not just as a fear of being judged online or going viral for the wrong reasons, but as a deep, subconscious tether to community, safety, and staying small enough to "belong" and not rock the boat. If you've ever asked yourself: “Can I still belong and have support as I become more visible and successful?”, this episode is gonna HIT. (It hit to record it) Join us in the premier Dreamaway Membership for so many resources including 40+ Dreamaway-exclusive tapping sessions (90 minutes of deep-dive subconscious rewiring/EFT tapping), visualizations, 40+ tapping "Money Dates" (abundance programming), daily tapping videos, weekly energy readings, astrological updates, and so much more! https://haleyhoffmansmith.com/dreamaway @dreamawaymembership on IG Order my book, You Have the Magic: https://youhavethemagic.com/ @haleyhoffmansmith on IG/TikTok AUGUST DREAMAWAY THEME: VISIBILITY WOUND 90 Minute Session - Visibility Wound: Rejection & Belonging | Sunday, August 10th 3:30-5:00pm ET In this 90-minute subconscious breakthrough tapping session, we'll unravel the visibility wound: specifically where it intersects with rejection, outshining, and belonging. This is for the part of you that's been dimming your light to stay safe, shrinking to keep the peace, and/or fearful that you won't feel loved & supported as you rise. We'll explore and dissolve the fear that if you're fully seen, you'll be judged, misunderstood, or left behind, because these beliefs create subtle sabotage patterns like hiding wins, playing small, or resisting momentum. This session is your portal back to the version of you who knows in your heart of hearts that it's safe to be seen, loved in your fullness, and celebrated for who you actually are. Money Date - It's Safe to Be Seen Earning MORE | Monday, August 18th 8:00pm ET In this month's Money Date, we're clearing one of the sneakiest subconscious blocks to abundance: the fear of being seen earning more. Maybe it's not the money itself that feels scary…it's what it might mean to be visible in your financial success. To surpass others. To no longer be “relatable.” To be judged, resented, or misunderstood for having more. In this tapping session, we'll dissolve the guilt, the hiding, and the fear of outshining so that you can step into your next level of wealth confidently. We'll rewire the belief that your earning power threatens connection and install a new truth: that being seen in your abundance is safe, sacred, and a service to others. You're allowed to rise without losing love. And you're more than allowed to be seen in your overflow.
