In Abwesenheit ihrer Schwiegertochter kümmert sich Vera nicht nur um deren Belange, sondern es gelingt ihr auch, den vermeintlichen Mörder ihres Sohnes, Karlheinz Boxheimer, aufzuspüren und an die Polizei zu überstellen. Derweil ist Margarete damit beschäftigt, zu … ähm … sie hat doch … Ach, egal, fällt uns wieder ein.

Der Zustand von Chris verschlechtert sich und er verstirbt im Krankenhaus. Während die Familie trauert, versucht Woody Beweise für seine Unschuld zu sammeln und scheint zuletzt selbst Vera überzeugen zu können. Tina hingegen kämpft um das Sorgerecht für Richy, doch das Jugendamt spürt ihn auf und überstellt ihn wieder ans Kinderheim. Wegen der Aussicht auf einen erfolglosen Rechtsstreit entscheidet sich Tina schließlich dazu, ihn ins Ausland mitzunehmen.

Nach wie vor liegt Chris bewusstlos auf der Intensivstation und seine Familie diskutiert, wie sich eine zukünftige Pflege gestalten ließe. Doch auch die Frage nach der Betreuung für Richy lässt Tina nicht locker, denn seine leiblichen Eltern sind im Flugzeug verunglückt. Margarete hingegen sitzt mittlerweile hinter dem Heilpraktikerempfangstresen und Ludwig kann gleich mehrfach die juristische Unterstützung von Marions Rechtelmechtel in Anspruch nehmen.
