Raymond Verheijen (@raymondverheije) is a world renowned fitness coach and has been involved as an assistant in 4 World Cups and 4 EURO's working under Legendary Dutch coach Gus Hiddink, as well as working with several European top clubs like FC Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City. As a youth player Verheijen was part of the famous Dutch Youth Academy structure. Unfortunately, his dream of a professional career ended as a chronic injury forced him to retire at the young age of 18. This disadvantage became an advantage as Verheijen started his coaching career at the age of 19. He studied Exercise Physiology and Sport Psychology at the Free University Amsterdam and completed his Masters Degrees in 1995. In 1995, Verheijen developed his Masters thesis into the book ‘Conditioning for Soccer' which became the coach education book of the Dutch FA (KNVB) in 1997. Verheijen became a pro-license instructor at the Dutch FA in 1998. In 2014, Verheijen published the best-selling book ‘Football Periodisation'. More than 30,000 copies have been sold worldwide. His latest books are ‘Football Coaching Theory' (2020) and ‘Tactical Principles' (2022). In our discussion today, we talk about the importance of understanding fitness as the number of game actions a player can complete in a minute, not mindless running. Fitness must be focused on the ability to repeat game actions, not simply run without the ball. We also discuss injuries, how the US develops slow players because of our tournament model, how playing up must be managed better, and so much more.
Denn you are not alone!! Tausende Menschen treten gegeneinander an.
In this episode of The Healers Café, Manon Bolliger, FCAH, RBHT, speaks with Janet McConnell about her inspiring journey to healthy aging, the power of exercise and resistance training, and how lifestyle changes can improve both physical and cognitive health as we age. For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/janet-mcconnell Highlights from today's episode include: Janet McConnell 09:55 I would say, if you're a beginner, you want to start with body weight. And get comfortable with the movement. Make sure that you're getting some good instruction, so that you're using proper form. You're not rounding your shoulders and you're not swaying or standing with your back sway back, Janet McConnell 09:55 It's like you get a cut. Your body right away wants to sew that little cut up, you know, you put a band aid on it. The next day, it's fine, you know it that's the body is, is programmed for that. Well, you don't just heal the muscles you worked. It affects the entire body. Manon Bolliger 14:55 And a lot of these diseases, it's in accumulation of toxicity. So if you're moving and allowing things to to go through you you know you can eliminate them better. So it makes sense. You know, goes to the cellular level.

Today's episode is covering kind of an ‘unsexy' topic, but it's something that is crucial for anyone on a fitness journey. When it comes to the workouts that you're doing, your specific fitness training MATTERS. I have ladies come to me all of the time, sharing that they feel like they're working out and doing everything they ‘should' be doing, but they don't see (or feel) the results they're desiring from their workouts. While you can do workouts that you love (i.e. fitness classes, running, etc.), you can't *only* do workouts that you love. Yes, moving your body regularly is a wonderful thing and you should be doing that! But..you WILL need to incorporate weight training if building muscle and changing the way your body looks is a goal. This will feel uncomfortable along the way - I've been there too, but nothing worth having is going to feel super easy when you're starting out! I can't stress how important it is to be training with purpose (like utilizing progressive overload). When you're both specific and consistent with your workouts, not only will you change the way your body looks, you'll also achieve strength, longevity, and overall improved health. So yes..the way you train f*cking matters! If you're frustrated with what you're doing and you're not getting the results you crave, it's time to get support from an expert. I would love to help you figure out a better way to reach your long-term fitness goals, and ultimately, build a body you love!!In today's episode, we cover:Understanding that you can do workouts you love, but not JUST workouts you love + why training to build muscle is not the same as simply ‘working out'Why you should have some kind of physique goal(s) as you age and are actively working to add muscle to your bodyHow training to build muscle and lose fat (aka body recomposition) will be different than training simply to lose weightFocusing on progressive overload with your workouts + how this will look with your reps and restWhy you need to be both specific and consistent with your training, regardless of the workout plan you choose to followChoosing movement that you love and will also support you in building strength and long-term healthHow to work with me:FIT CLUB is a monthly membership with workouts designed to take the guesswork out of your fitness routine and get you the body you want. Fitness mit M.A.R.K.
____________ *WERBUNG:

And what I try to do is get people to simply make a commitment to be someone that when you talk to yourself, you change the way you talk to yourself. To improve the way that I talk to myself, the way I see myself, the secret that's not a secret, Gabe, is self-love and self-acceptance.” ~Greg Harden Greg Harden is a peak performance coach, motivational speaker, and executive consultant best known for his work with seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Tom Brady. He also worked with Heisman Trophy winner, and Super Bowl MVP Desmond Howard and 23-time Olympic Gold medalist Michael Phelps. He's spent more than 30 years counseling, motivating, and coaching them at the University of Michigan, including 400 future professional athletes, 50 NFL first-round draft picks, and 120 Olympians from more than 20 countries. He gained national recognition when “60 Minute Sports” profiled him as “Michigan's Secret Weapon.” Our host, Gabe Howard, is an award-winning writer and speaker who lives with bipolar disorder.
