Send us Fan MailBrandon Holtz won the 2025 U.S. Mid-Amateur at Troon Country Club in Arizona last September. Along with lifting the Robert T. Jones Jr. Trophy, that victory also earned Holtz the opportunity to compete at The Masters and The US Open in 2026. Like the Amateur champions before him, Brandon was a division 1 student-athlete, just not in golf. The Bloomington, IL native played college basketball at Illinois State University on a Redbird squad that posted multiple 20+ win seasons and nearly punched their ticket to the big dance. What makes Brandon's story even more compelling is he graduated from ISU in 2009. How did a 39 year old former college basketball player make it to The Masters and U.S. Open? The Andy Riesmeyer Show Hour 1 In the 6PM hour with KTLA’s Andy Riesmeyer filling in for Tim Conway Jr., the show kicks off with a hilarious explanation of what a “lot lizard” is, complete with young Andy’s questionable Walmart bathing suit story near an Indiana cornfield. The crew also rants about how booking airline tickets has become an expensive nightmare. Andy plays listener TalkBacks (where everyone sounds a little drunk), debates what makes a great pair of guy calves, and celebrates the truck-stop renaissance with gourmet gas station food. There’s a live FIFA World Cup score update with Team USA leading Paraguay 2–0 at SoFi Stadium, plus a call from KTLA reporter Hailey Winslow reporting from the game. The hour wraps with more TalkBacks, complaints about flying with kids, Dr Pepper bratwurst with chili, and Andy getting roasted for thinking it’s weird that people cut their sandwiches at home. Fun, random, and very Andy. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

How to Create a Hard Working Team WITHOUT Demotivating Or Upsetting

How to create a hard working team to deliver more is about creating motivating ENVIRONMENTS rather than increasing pressure. More team hours worked often does not move the “value produced” dial much UNLESS you combine it with another important action.  I share 4 approaches that motivate your team to work hard because they WANT to work hard --- ---  The goals and expectations you set for a team determine how hard they will work. It is like telling a runner they have a race the next day or telling a runner they have a 10km race the next day and they need to finish it within 45mins. Goals drive planning, which in turn drives work levels. Goals are part of the picture to persuade your team to work hard. There is a art to setting goals. Setting any arbitrary goal won't motivate and might even be de-motivating.  You want your team to WANT to work harder. Trying to force them or pressurise them to work hard rarely works on its own. If fact you often get less work i.e. it is counterproductive. A hard working team that creates a lot of value chooses to work hard.    A team will only work as hard as its manager. If you don't work hard, there is zero chance of your team working hard. What you WORK ON is just as important. Show you are working for the team rather than for you.  The leader of a team has a HUGE influence on the success of a team. The leader creates the environment, the rules and the expectations. It is like a micro-climate within a larger climate (or company culture). There is a ton of thing you can do to push your team to work harder while motivating them, keeping them very happy, and significantly increasing the value produced by the team. Finally, nothing stops a person working harder than when they feel unfairly treated. Balance is really important. In fact, the best managers offer slightly more to the team than they ask from the team.  If you have any questions on “How to Create a Hard Working Team WITHOUT Demotivating Or Upsetting”, leave email me at support@enhance.training and I will get back to you.  Jess Coles Enhance.training

Signature Style Systems ~ Certified Personal Stylist, Image & Color Consultant, True Colour Expert

Your region was already shaping what you wore, what felt normal, and what got you sideways looks at dinner, long before you had any framework for personal style at all.   Colin Woodard's American Nations framework proposes that North America is actually 11 distinct cultures, each with founding values that have persisted for centuries.   The eleven nations: Yankeedom (New England to the upper Midwest): Founded by radical Calvinists. Deep investment in education, community improvement, and civic duty. New Netherland (New York City metro): Founded by the Dutch as a commercial trading hub. Pluralistic, cosmopolitan, entrepreneurial from the start. The Midlands (Pennsylvania to the central Midwest): Founded by Quakers who welcomed all. Moderate, consensus-driven, deeply suspicious of extremes. Tidewater (coastal Virginia and the Carolinas): Founded by English gentry who recreated a feudal aristocracy. Hierarchical, formal, oriented toward tradition and lineage. Greater Appalachia (the Appalachian backcountry to the Ozarks): Founded by Scots-Irish borderlanders. Fiercely independent, deeply suspicious of outside authority. Deep South (South Carolina to east Texas): Founded by Barbadian planters who built a slave society. Ceremonial, hierarchical, intensely communal within its own ranks. El Norte (the southwest borderlands): The oldest European culture on the continent. Hardworking, independent, shaped by two nations simultaneously. The Left Coast (coastal Alaska to northern California): Founded by New England missionaries and Appalachian prospectors. Idealistic, innovative, convinced it can build something better. The Far West (the interior West to the Great Plains): Shaped by the extraction economy and harsh climate. Pragmatic, self-reliant, resistant to outside control. New France (Quebec and Louisiana): Founded by French colonists who prioritized relationships over hierarchy. Communal, convivial, with a strong sense of place and pleasure. First Nation (northern Canada and Alaska): The nations that predate all the others. Cultures built on deep relationship with land, community, and living tradition. In this episode I'm applying that lens to style, introducing the 11 nations and their regional style archetypes, and asking a question most style advice never thinks to ask: which parts of your style are actually yours? For years, Daisy Xia's performance reviews said the same things: hardworking, great team player, result-driven, quiet. Cycle after cycle, different managers, same words. Then she realized: those were her brand hashtags, and they were never going to get her to where she wanted to go. She wanted "confident," "influential," "driven," "leadership." And nobody was going to give her those labels. She had to earn them by using her voice. Daisy is Head of Strategy and FP&A at Revolut, one of the world's fastest-growing fintechs. Originally from China, she built her career navigating the cultural expectation that hard work and results would speak for themselves. They didn't. In this episode, she breaks down exactly how she changed that, and what she now teaches every junior person who reports to her. You'll learn: The performance review pattern that finally made her realize she was building the wrong brand, and the specific words she decided to own instead Why she stopped being the silent note-taker in every meeting, what she lost by doing it, and why AI has made that role completely obsolete The 4-phase framework for asking questions in town halls and large meetings, from canned questions that still get you seen, to strategic dialogue that opens collaboration doors with senior executives The "golden three months" strategy: how to use your newness as a security blanket to ask anything, map broken processes, and deliver visible value before anyone expects it Why there is no such thing as over-communication at work ,and how staying quiet to avoid being "too much" is actually the riskier move The one mandate she gives herself and every person she mentors: say something in every meeting, even if it's just a rephrasing If you've ever been called "hardworking" but not "leadership material," or if you have great ideas that only come out in one-on-ones but never in the room, this episode is the blueprint. About Daisy Xia: Head of Strategy and Financial Planning & Analytics at Revolut, Daisy leads strategic and financial operations at one of the world's largest fintech companies. Originally from China, she coaches and mentors junior professionals on speaking up, building visibility, and translating strong technical work into leadership presence. You're listening to American Ground Radio with Stephen Parr and Louis R. Avallone. This is the full show for January 26, 2026. 0:30 Why is Minneapolis ground zero for violent ICE protests—and who’s really behind the chaos? We dig into the disturbing pattern surrounding immigration enforcement in Minnesota, questioning why ICE operations there are met with coordinated resistance, political cover, and organized activism. From elected officials aiding protesters, to claims of Signal chats, doxxing of ICE agents, and staged protest infrastructure, we explore whether this is spontaneous outrage or something far more deliberate. We also examine the tragic death of an ICU nurse, the role of misinformation, and the dangerous line between lawful protest and outright anarchy—raising serious questions about accountability, the rule of law, and whether the Department of Justice is failing to act as chaos escalates. 9:30 Plus, we cover the Top 3 Things You Need to Know. Over the weekend, a protestor in Minnesota was shot and killed while struggling with ICE officers. Democrats are threatening another government shutdown this week. Long time Democrat Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton has decided to not run for reelection to Congress. 12:30 Get Prodovite Plus from Victory Nutrition International for 20% off. Go to vni.life/agr and use the promo code AGR20. 13:00 We unpack the latest example of our “outrage culture” as Apple CEO Tim Cook faces backlash for attending a private White House screening of a Melania Trump documentary. We explore why a simple appearance at a first lady’s event has sparked controversy, questioning whether the public is punishing respect for the office itself rather than political affiliation. From comparisons to similar events with Jill Biden and Michelle Obama, to the dangers of social media mobs dictating every decision by powerful figures, the conversation delves into how this culture of coercion threatens leadership, freedom of association, and the ability to navigate public life without fear of constant vilification. 16:00 What do you do when your liberal friends start posting things online that just aren’t true? American Mamas Teri Netterville and Kimberly Burleson tackle the growing frustration many conservatives feel watching social media melt down over politics, protests, and ICE enforcement. From viral misinformation and “MAGA silence” bait posts to claims of engineered chaos in Minneapolis, the conversation dives into how outrage culture, mainstream media narratives, and online activism are fueling division. The American Mamas share why they often choose to scroll instead of engage, how disinformation spreads through friend groups, and why social media has become less about truth and more about manufacturing conflict. If you'd like to ask our American Mamas a question, go to our website, AmericanGroundRadio.com/mamas and click on the Ask the Mamas button. 23:00 We react to a Florida anesthesiologist who publicly declared he would refuse to treat Trump supporters, sparking outrage over ethics, morality, and the Hippocratic oath. We break down why targeting patients based on politics is not only cruel but morally depraved, and why the trust society places in doctors makes this behavior especially dangerous. From the obligation to treat all patients, even violent offenders, to historical examples of professionalism in medicine, we explore the chilling consequences when political bias overrides care—and why the Florida Attorney General is now stepping in. 26:00 We respond to a listener email claiming ICE is “hunting” hardworking immigrants, sparking a deep dive into immigration, the rule of law, and the American Dream. We break down why enforcing immigration laws is about protecting trust and fairness, not targeting hardworking people, and why legal compliance matters from the first step onward. The conversation also challenges common claims about white privilege, explores the history of immigrant contributions, and emphasizes the importance of due process, responsibility, and respecting the laws that make America prosperous. 32:00 Get Performlyte from Victory Nutrition International for 20% off. Go to vni.life/agr and use the promo code AGR20. 32:30 We dive into a landmark legal battle in California, where a 19-year-old claims platforms like Meta, TikTok, and YouTube fueled a youth mental health crisis through addictive design features. We question whether social media companies should be held responsible for users’ depression or suicidal thoughts—or if personal responsibility still matters in a free society. Using humorous comparisons to chocolate, alcohol, and TV, the conversation explores the fine line between business design, human choice, and accountability in the age of endless scrolling. 36:00 A new poll reveals a surprising bipartisan consensus: Americans overwhelmingly believe securing access to foreign oil and energy is crucial for the U.S. economy. We break down the numbers—69% of Americans across party lines agree on the importance of energy security—and explore why energy independence is synonymous with economic independence. From protecting jobs to reducing reliance on foreign powers, the conversation highlights how access to reliable oil isn’t just about fuel—it’s about controlling America’s future. 39:30 We take on the heated debate over Second Amendment rights and federal law enforcement after the fatal shooting of ICU nurse Alex Pretti by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis. We examine how Democrats are using language to argue that the Second Amendment doesn’t protect firearm carry at protests, even as official narratives clash with video evidence and eyewitness accounts about what really happened that day. 41:30 And we finish off today's show with not one but two love stories that unfolded on the set of Stranger Things.
