Britton is a founding member of the Broadway Advocacy Coalition, the arts-and-activism organization that received a Special Tony Award in 2020. Onstage, he's appeared in shows like “Shuffle Along,” “After Midnight,” and “Be More Chill.” Offstage, he's building something entirely his own. Britton joins host Kerry Diamond to talk about growing up in Texas, moving to New York at 18, and the path that led him to a Tony Award for advocacy. This week's guests are sisters Morgan Price and Frankie Price.Morgan Price spent the first three seasons of her college career at Fisk University, competing for the first HBCU gymnastics team. She won six WCGNIC national titles and became the first HBCU gymnast to score a 10.0, earning the mark on uneven bars during her junior season. Now a senior at the University of Arkansas, she recently made history again as the first Razorback gymnast to score a 10.0 on vault.She is closing out her career alongside her sister, Frankie, a mainstay in Arkansas' vault and floor lineups. Frankie owns career highs of 9.9 on vault and 9.975 on floor — the latter matching the program record. This week, we're excited to be joined by Theresa Kulikowski-Gillespie, a 1995 Team World bronze medalist and Olympic alternate for the gold-medal-winning 1996 U.S. women's gymnastics team. Theresa competed collegiately at the University of Utah, where she was a 14-time All-American and won three individual NCAA titles — including the all-around and balance beam as a freshman in 1999.Following her gymnastics career, Theresa served as a physician assistant in the U.S. Army from 2009 to 2012, including a deployment to Iraq from 2010 to 2011. Today, she runs My Mindful Medicine, where she helps people heal and become the best version of themselves through guided meditation, support groups, and one-on-one mindfulness sessions.In 2024, Theresa published Beyond the Chalk Box, a book that explores the challenges and triumphs of former elite gymnasts through their own stories and reflections. We loved reading it and are excited to have Theresa on the show to dive deeper into the book. On the side, Brit regularly presents at comic cons and elsewhere about autism and pop culture, including "Authentically Creating Autistic Characters," "Autism in Comic Books," and "After 50 Years, Why do Spidey Super Stories Comics Still Matter to Autistic Kids and Everybody Else?." This year, Brit started The Autism Scene, a nonprofit advocating for the inclusion of explicitly autistic characters in kids pop culture. This winter, The Autism Scene is running the AuSPEC AWARDS, a kids animated series spec script competition, which requires a series regular meaningfully interacting with an explicitly autistic character.
