This week it was confirmed that Little Britain was removed from Netflix and the BBC iPlayer. It's amid concerns about its use of blackface and racist humour. The show consisted of a series of sketches involving exaggerated parodies of British people from various walks of life. Each sketch was introduced by a voice-over narration (Tom Baker) suggesting that the programme was a guide – aimed at non-British people – to British society. Despite the narrator's description of "great British institutions", the comedy arises from the British audience's self-deprecating understanding of either themselves or of people known to them. Recurring characters included Andy Pipkin, who falsely presented himself as being wheelchair bound to gain the attention of his carer Lou Todd; Daffyd Thomas, who claims to be "the only gay in the village" despite much evidence to the contrary; and Vicky Pollard, presented as a working-class chav engaging in anti-social behaviour. Now it looks like the Inbetweeners may be subject to same faith, after all episodes of the show were removed from YouTube. However, some are speculating that the show simply might just be moving to the streaming service BritBox. Maria has all the details in her entertainment news - hit play to hear it in full. Lucy is back from Hawes and delivered an outstanding review of the week in Ambridge, which in tribute to the late Ziggy Boneman included a reference to FFS. Roifield makes an impassioned plea for new DumTeeDums - please send them in. Lucy does a mean Vicky Pollard, but having been in Yorkshire she should have been channelling Eric Pollard (soap cross pollination there!). GoddessDeeva returns from the bottom of a bucket to tell Lilian that she needs to stop making an idiot of herself. But Justin has history and Anthea will put a stop to that. Andrew Horn raises his concern that another skilled builder type person can start now - first at the kennels and now at the Dower House - here we are planning for building work next year! Lucy thinks Lilian is kidding herself that she is happy being the home manager - although it is her "profession". Lucy hates interior decoration whilst Roifield loves it. Then she spreads fake news about Roifield - listen to find out. Roifield feels that the colour of grout... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
This week, we head to the Cotswolds to spend time with BBC3’s latest village-based mockumentary This Country and travel to Bafta to hear from the cream of the indie crop at Broadcast’s own Indie Summit. We speak to This Country creators Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper about their long-gestating comedy and how they went from a Vicky Pollard-lite pilot to one of the year’s most talked about shows.

Kirsty Young's castaway on Desert Island Discs this week is the comedy performer and writer Matt Lucas. As one half of the team that created the hit TV show Little Britain, he's been responsible for dreaming up such characters as Vicky Pollard, the Asbo teenager who swapped her baby for a Westlife CD and Dafydd, the Welsh homosexual who is adamant he's "the only gay in the village". When he was six years old his hair fell out and as a result he acquired a certain local notoriety - from then on it simply never occurred to him that he wouldn't go on to become famous. Just five years ago he was struggling to have his work commissioned and thought of abandoning his career in comedy. Today, he's one of the most popular and recognisable entertainers in Britain.
