Happy Holidays!!! The Brothers took yet another unexpected hiatus from podcasting and we appreciate your continued listening and subscribing. Welcome back! The Brothers took an unexpected hiatus and this episode was actually recorded back in October 2020! We hope you all had a fantastic holiday season and have been staying safe. In this episode we talked a little about some of the fun whiskey communities from around the world that we are a part of or are familiar with, all while sharing a couple of the new special releases from the Maker's Mark distillery. Everything from Ardbeg, Maker's Mark, and even Bruichladdich, they all have communities that come together for their shared love of the great water of life. We also touch on (and even listen to!) the fantastic friendships we make through those communities - such as Mr. Robin Laing, a musician from the UK. We got permission from Mr. Laing to share a small snippet of his most recent album and we highly recommend going and finding the rest of it on whatever platform you stream music on. **Holding Gold by Robin Laing** The Brothers really appreciate you coming back to listen to us yet again and hope you'll stay tuned and subscribed to hear and see what we come up with next. Make sure to hit that like button, download it, listen to it, share it, and then go follow us on Instagram at @brothers_in_whisky. Cheers!
In this inaugural episode of the Cask Effect: A Quarter Cask, one of the Brothers explains and explores a fantastic new addition to the world of bourbon based out of the nearby Memphis, TN. Blue Note Bourbon is a bottling from the Big River Distilling Company and their three different offerings - Juke Joint, Premium Small Batch, and Single Barrel - highlight the beauty and magnificence of the blues culture in their iconic city. I took a very awesome Marc Cohn-inspired walk through Memphis while tasting the Juke Joint and Premium Small Batch side by side and explaining the differences as well as my personal take on their presentations. You can find all the information I used directly on their website at https://www.bluenotebourbon.com/. In this next installment of the Cask Effect podcast, the Brothers explore two different releases from Bruichladdich's Octomore line - the 6.1 and the 10.4. We take these two beautiful expressions and put them up against each other to explore the different approaches in each series as well as how they are complimented by a very palatable scotch-aged cigar, the Glen from Ted's Cigars. We discussed our favorite finds, gave some ideas for future episodes, and explained the beauty and adrenaline of a good whiskey hunt we had gone on recently. Shoutout to Tarak at Elixir Spirits, Brinkmann's Wine and Spirits, Midtown Corkdorks of Nashville, Liquor Planet, Best Cellars, and Discount Liquors of Pulaski for helping us find these beautiful works of art to enjoy. Check out more information about the Octomore line on Bruichladdich's website at the link below: https://www.bruichladdich.com/octomore-super-heavily-peated-whisky-range/ For our jazz-inclined listeners, can you guess the jazz standard that's being used as the background music? Message us with your guess! Keep an ear out and subscribe to follow the Brothers in Whisky as we explore spirits from around the world and talk about our lives.
