How did an outwardly Italian man end up in Eugene, Oregon making amaro? This week we're talking to Andrea Loreto, co-founder of Elixir Spirits about his journey to making botanical liqueurs in the Pacific Northwest. Andrea's love of cooking led him to discover liqueur recipes in his grandmother's cookbook. After three years of tinkering he had his first product, Calisaya. In this next installment of the Cask Effect podcast, the Brothers explore two different releases from Bruichladdich's Octomore line - the 6.1 and the 10.4. We take these two beautiful expressions and put them up against each other to explore the different approaches in each series as well as how they are complimented by a very palatable scotch-aged cigar, the Glen from Ted's Cigars. We discussed our favorite finds, gave some ideas for future episodes, and explained the beauty and adrenaline of a good whiskey hunt we had gone on recently. Shoutout to Tarak at Elixir Spirits, Brinkmann's Wine and Spirits, Midtown Corkdorks of Nashville, Liquor Planet, Best Cellars, and Discount Liquors of Pulaski for helping us find these beautiful works of art to enjoy. Check out more information about the Octomore line on Bruichladdich's website at the link below: https://www.bruichladdich.com/octomore-super-heavily-peated-whisky-range/ For our jazz-inclined listeners, can you guess the jazz standard that's being used as the background music? Message us with your guess! Keep an ear out and subscribe to follow the Brothers in Whisky as we explore spirits from around the world and talk about our lives. Now that Wild Turkey's Master's Keep Cornerstone has made its way to the public, we wanted to make sure we got our thoughts out as 16as possible. Joined by our friend Tarak Patel from Elixir Spirits in Spring Hill, TN, we open a bottle that Zeke was able to track down and all three of us give our opinion. There are only 16,000 of these available, so if you think it sounds like it's for you, be on the lookout! Intro/Outro: Springtide "Fall Asleep Under the Millions of Stars"
We're a little late getting this week's episode out because Zeke was under the weather. In this episode, we catch up on our time at Nashville Cocktail Festival, discuss the Old Elk pick we were a part of that's now available at Elixir Spirits, and review Kentucky Owl Confiscated. Cheers and enjoy! Intro/Outro: Springtide "Fall Asleep Under the Millions of Stars"

The Dads took a field trip down to Elixir Spirits to try Old Forester 1910 with our friends Tarak, Greg, and Patrick. Although we recorded in the car on the way down, we just didn't think any of it was any good with us just talking. What you're left with is a fun episode with friends where we review Old Forester 1910 against Early Times Bottled-in-Bond. Hope you enjoy! Intro/Outro: Springtide "Fall Asleep Under the Millions of Stars"
In the second half of our night with our friends Denver, from Denver and Liely, Brett, the Scotch Trooper, and Brodie from the Empty Glass Resistance, we actually tried to drink some whiskey. Tried being the key word in that sentence. This really was a fun conversation between friends in which we tried a Four Roses pick from Elixir Spirits and a Russell's Reserve from Carother's Wine and Spirits. There are whiskey reviews, but a lot of laughs as well. Hope you enjoy! Intro/Outro: Springtide "Fall Asleep Under the Millions of Stars"
Zeke has been busy lately, and he updates John of all his adventures like a pick at Four Roses and picking some blends at Elixir Spirits. While John and Zeke catch up, they drink two Russell's Reserve picks from the Barrels and Brews crew at Carothers Wine and Spirits, Haters Gonna Hate and Backstage Pass to see which one of these popular local picks they like better. Intro/Outro: Springtide "Fall Asleep Under the Millions of Stars"
The Dads are joined by our friend TJ, who can be found working at Elixir Spirits in Spring Hill, TN or also on Instagram @morebeamforme. He also happens to be our resident expert on Jim Beam, so naturally we had to bring him in. Listen as the group runs through two rounds of blinds featuring Jim Beam products, until they eventually crown their individual winners of the night. Intro/Outro: springtide "Fall Asleep Under the Millions of Stars"
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We wanted to make sure you had something fun to listen to if you had to drive, so we made sure we got this one out to you in time. This week, we put two Four Roses juggernauts against each other: 2017 SmBLE vs. Al Young. For good measure, we also put two picks from two of our favorite stores in the blind tasting because their recipes can be found in the other expressions: an OESK from Elixir Spirits in Spring Hill, TN and an OBSV from Carothers Wine and Spirits in Cool Springs, TN. Which comes out on top, listen and find out! Cheers!
