Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Sons and Daughters Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Rebinge Deep Space Nine S6E3: Sons and Daughters. Some of our favorite repeating characters are back as well as some of our not so favorite...you can determine which is which. Plus we get a new version of Worf's son Alexander now played by Marc Worden. So we get a little parental drama on the station with Ziyal and Dukat and a little Klingon parental drama with Worf and Alexander. Sons and Daughters In this episode, Martok's ship gets some new reinforcements and everyone (especially Worf) is surprised to see Alexander Rozhenko as one of the new recruits. There is a lot of drama as Worf has to face the truth about how he has mistreated his own son. Back on the station, Ziyal and Dukat are patching up their relationship as Dukat pretends to be a good father while irritating Major Kira at every turn. What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. If you've been a music teacher for a while, you're probably familiar with the most common studio management systems out there. And you may have noticed in the last year or so that one of these platforms got a makeover and a new name. Music Teacher's Helper and its counterpart for multi-teacher studios, Studio Helper, have become Duet Partner. Behind the name change and rebrand, there's also a new owner and CEO. Today I have the privilege of talking to Neylan McBaine about how she came to buy the business (teaser - that story wasn't at all as I was expecting) and how she has navigated her first 18 months as CEO. Ep. 74 - Sammy Pierre Duet (Goatwhore). In this episode I talk with Goatwhore guitarist Sammy Duet. Goatwhore recently released their 8th studio album 'Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven' on Oct. 7th. Be sure to check out their new album. I have been a Goatwhore fan since 'A Haunting Curse' album and felt fortunate to talk with Sammy. We talk about their recent tours, new album, and horror movies. From the Goatwhore Earsplit bio "Storming into their twenty-fifth year as purveyors of the most ruthless extreme metal, GOATWHORE returns with their long-awaited new full-length, Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven, set for release on October 7th via Metal Blade Records! Unquestionably their strongest, most accomplished album to date in sound, concept, and execution, Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven emits forty-seven desolating minutes of the band's trademark fusion of death, black, thrash, and classic metal. Delivered with breathless intensity and an unapologetic bloodlust, the twelve-track offering stands among the most thrilling records to come out of 2022. “I would describe this record as being very raw, but clarity is shaped within the chaos,” reflects vocalist Louis Ben Falgoust II. “'It's a journey of everything we've done and some new approaches as we advance forward. When we write, we mainly focus on the music and what we enjoy about playing it. We don't write just to appease others. We want to enjoy playing it in a live setting as well, especially night after night on the road'” I hope everyone enjoys this episode. The Dominion war is not going well and in this episode the DS9 crew gets a dangerous new assignment. Back on the station Major Kira is gritting her teeth every day as she puts up with Dukat and the Cardassians. This episode is full of the usual guest stars like Marc Alaimo (Dukat), Jeffrey Combs (Weyoun), Casey Biggs (Damar) and our favorite JG Hertzler (Martok). Even Brock Peters as Grandpa Joe makes a brief appearance! A Time to Stand Starfleet finally has a plan that makes sense - we send Sisko and crew to destroy a big ketracel-white storage facility using the previously acquired Jem'Hadar ship (see The Ship). While this is a good plan, it is also a very dangerous one! Back on the station, Major Kira has to deal with pretending to be ok with the occupying force on her station. While she tries to put on a smiling face, Dukat is busy being threatening and generally disgusting. This is an intense opening to a season! What's this rebinge thing? In this episode, Sammy talks about the 8th and new record, “Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven,” and the grinding ebbs and flows of putting together another solid death metal record. There's a challenge in keeping things fresh over the years with Goatwhore's music, but Sammy never seems to be short of any of the creativity that's been implemented into another fan favorite. Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Empok Nor Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 5 episode 24 of Rebinge Deep Space Nine: Empok Nor. In this episode we visit an abandoned version of our station and end up in the middle of a horror movie. The good news is, Garak is in this episode to bring some of his usual wit and craziness. The bad news is a lot of red (yellow) shirts bite the dust! Empok Nor We raid Empok Nor for equipment compatible with DS9, but even though we know the place is going to be full of traps we are not at all careful and bad things happen. Red shirts die. Garak goes a little nutty. Miles makes some very bad decisions. Bad bad bad. But a fun episode to watch! What's this rebinge thing? Goatwhore started out, at least for me, as the band you wanted to hear but couldn't get your hands on any material. That was then. And now with their eighth full length Angels Hung From The Arches of Heaven (Metal Blade Records) these dudes are a household name in any house that lifts up damn good metal. Call it blackened thrash or thrash and death with a splash of black metal or whatever you want to call it, bottom line is this band rules and that's all there is to it. Ahead of the new album, which rips the door to hell wide open, Buke got the chance to chat with guitarist and part vocalist Sammy Duet about the new album and how it came to be as well as the Goatwhore ethos and how it plays into metal in general. But, they don't stop there, a ton is covered beyond that, rest assured. We now bring you this conversation in its entirety so grab your beverage of choice, a seat, and enjoy. 9C LINKS: Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram

But really what are the best kind of shenanigans? Time travel shenanigans! There are some truly unexpected things in this episode: first Odo is going to be a hunk in a couple hundred years and second being Klingon is a matter of choice. These are not things I knew prior to watching Children of Time. Children of Time The crew is on its way back from some work in the Gamma Quadrant (no idea why we still go there) when Dax wants to stop off to see some sciencey stuff. A WWF TV show targeted at adults that aired late on Saturday Night sounded like a great idea, however, Shotgun Saturday Night was not it! Coming off of episode #1, the WWF was hyping up an unveiling of "Sunny's Sexy Home Video." The entire night is teased with rumors of who could be in the explicit tape with Sunny. When we get to finally see the film, it is revealed that it is Tickle Me Elmo's older brother Fondle Me Elmo! In what could only be described as bizarre, Sunny does indeed fondle Elmo. We also get another moment that misses the mark. Todd Pettengill sings a duet with The Honky Tonk Man. There are two problems with this, The Honky Tonk Man's mic doesn't work and he can't sing either. It might go down as one of the worst things in this era of pro wrestling. The Sisters of Love were arrested in New York for solicitation. Scott Hall and Kevin Nash are in WCW, but that doesn't stop the WWF from using the names Razor Ramon and Diesel. Speaking of The Bad Guy, the boys talk about the greatest wrestling theme songs of the late, great Scott Hall. Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Soldiers of the Empire Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 5 episode 21 of Rebinge Deep Space Nine: Soldiers of the Empire where we bounce from Ferengi nonsense to Klingon honor! This week we spend a lot of time on a smoky, dark Klingon ship with melodrama, drinking and hand-to-hand combat. And in great news, we welcome back recurring character Martok played by J.G. Hertzler who coincidentally just appeared on an episode of Star Trek Lower Decks! Soldiers of the Empire When Martok is called upon by the Klingon empire to locate a missing Klingon ship, he finds himself in an unfamiliar position: he is cautious and afraid! Turns out his time in the Jem'Hadar internment camp had some lasting effects on the grizzled general. But never fear, Worf is here to remind him of his warrior heart! Primitive Culture: A Star Trek History and Culture Podcast

Cardassian war crimes and The Man in the Glass Booth For many fans of Deep Space Nine, the penultimate installment of Season 1, “Duet,” is also the show's first classic episode. A bleak exploration of guilt, responsibility, and forgiveness in the aftermath of war, it's a story that could scarcely have been told on any other Star Trek series. One of Trek's most popular bottle episodes, “Duet” is built on intense two-hander scenes between Nana Visitor and guest star Harris Yuelin, giving it the air of an intimate theater production. It's perhaps no surprise, then, that the episode's central conceit—a case of mistaken identity at the center of a potential war crimes trial—is lifted from a stage play, Robert Shaw's The Man in the Glass Booth, which was later adapted into an Oscar-winning movie. In this episode of Primitive Culture, host Duncan Barrett is joined by Clara Cook to discuss the parallels between “Duet” and this enigmatic source material, which in turn borrows from the real-life trial of Adolf Eichmann, the original man in a (bullet-proof) glass booth. Broadening the conversation to include Star Trek's approach to war crimes more generally, we consider whether the Eichmann trial—as well as the Nuremberg trials immediately after the war—offer a valid precedent for Federation and Bajoran justice. Host Duncan Barrett Guest Clara Cook Production Duncan Barrett (Editor and Producer) C Bryan Jones (Executive Producer) Matthew Rushing (Executive Producer)
