Every single one of us has an important story to tell. We all want to feel heard and understood, and the way we do that is through being vulnerable and sharing with each other. It's my hope that through this podcast we can remind each other that we aren't alone, that we're all important pieces of the puzzle, and that we all experience struggle, growth, love, sadness, joy, discomfort, and loss.

Today on Coffee Connection, Julie sits down with Chantelle Diachina to talk about race and racism. Chantelle shares her experience as a bi-racial (mistakenly referred to as Black in the episode introduction, and very thankful to have been corrected by Chantelle!) woman in this world, and how her healing journey has affected the way she is showing up for the current movement. It has always been Julie's mission to share vulnerable stories and unique perspectives with the listeners of Coffee Connection, and she is truly grateful that Chantelle was willing to do just that. Conversations around race and racism are not easy. But they are absolutely necessary, if the equality that is rightfully deserved by all human beings, is ever going to be fully attained. It's been a month since Covid-19 took over our lives, and Julie thinks it's time to discuss the important roles grief, gratitude, and resilience play in our current reality. She also chats with you about the lie we've all been sold, the one that told us "life is supposed to be easy," when in fact, humans are built for both the best of times, and the hardest. 001: The State of Things

Over the last few months Julie mapped out her podcasting journey. She taught herself how to record and edit, she created a list of people she knew she wanted to hang in the studio with, and developed an episode outline (chat about coffee, get vulnerable about life, finish with James Lipton’s famous 10 questions), but all of that went out the window when our lives were taken over by the Covid-19 pandemic. So instead, for now, she’ll be taking it one day at a time and creating episodes that feel right and necessary based on our current situation. In this first episode she shares her thoughts and feelings on our current reality, as well as how the pandemic is affecting her personally. The world is making its way through a very unusual time, but despite how scary and challenging it is, Julie believes we'll all be okay, and maybe even better off, as a result. To check out Julie's blog, head on over to www.letlovein.ca.
