#213 - Growth doesn't arrive with a trophy. It often shows up as friction, confusion, and the stubborn urge to fix other people. With therapist Casey Stevens, we explore why discomfort is the doorway to becoming, how the subconscious scripts our choices, and what changes when you stop rescuing and start taking radical responsibility for your life. Casey shares her own turning points—early marriage, a crisis that led her to therapy, the heartbreak of loss, and the identity collapse that followed—and how those crucibles reshaped her work and worldview. We dig into the mechanics of the subconscious and why so much of who we are is formed before age seven. Casey breaks down how to reverse inherited programming by elevating lowercase-c awareness into capital-C Consciousness: clarifying values, ranking them in a true hierarchy, and living in alignment so anxiety and indecision lose their grip. She also names a trap many of us fall into—the rescuer pattern on the drama triangle—and offers a better path built on consent, dignity, and self-governance rather than control. What might sound like opposites—science and spirituality—become complementary tools in Casey's practice. Neuroscience explains patterns and plasticity; spirituality restores meaning, faith, and intuition. We talk about rebuilding trust with yourself after early fractures, listening for the quiet signal beneath fear, and transforming post-traumatic stress into post-traumatic growth. Pain becomes a teacher, not a life sentence. Comfort maintains; discomfort transforms. If you're craving practical, compassionate guidance to move from autopilot to agency, this conversation will meet you where you are and invite you forward. If this resonates, connect with Casey at shrinkbigger.com and on Instagram @shrinkbigger. Today's conversation is one that touches every single one of us — whether we realize it or not. We're talking about trauma. Not just the big, obvious trauma. Not just what happened to you. But how it lives inside your body… and quietly shapes your health, stress levels, relationships, and even your sense of purpose.Joining us is Diana Bitting, co-founder and CEO of Catbird Health, an AI-powered trauma-informed care platform pioneering an entirely new model for healing. But Diana didn't start here. She spent decades struggling with a chronic inflammatory condition that no doctor could explain. Test after test came back “normal.” She was told it was stress. Or anxiety. Or maybe even “all in her head.”Sound familiar? After trying everything — diets, protocols, medications, functional medicine, and talk therapy — nothing created lasting relief. Until one conversation changed everything. When Diana began exploring trauma science and nervous system healing, her symptoms started to lift. Because here's what she discovered: Trauma doesn't just live in the brain. It lives in the body. And until the nervous system feels safe, true healing can't happen. In this episode, we explore:Why trauma is stored in the nervous systemThe link between inflammation, anxiety, insomnia, and unresolved traumaWhy talk therapy alone may not be enoughThe difference between cognitive healing and body-based healingHow personalized, trauma-informed care is changing the future of medicineWhy every single one of us can benefit from trauma healingThis conversation is grounded in science, but it's also deeply hopeful.Because healing trauma isn't just about resolving the past. It's about unlocking energy, clarity, connection, and purpose in the present. If you've ever felt like something was “off” in your body — even when everything looked fine on paper — this episode may connect some powerful dots. You are not broken. Your body has been protecting you. And healing is possible.MORE FROM DIANA BITTINGCheck out Catbird and start your person healing journey. Learn more about Diana. Welcome to Follow Your Gut. Daily Anchors.I'm Juniper, and I'll be guiding you in this daily embodiment practice for grounding, expansion, and self-leadership.Today's anchor is about trust and surrender. Because so often, what makes life feel heavy isn't what we're carrying. It's how tightly we're gripping it.This is true for healing, motherhood, marriage, growing a business and everything in between including becoming a new version of yourself. In all of these areas, our minds want to stay in control. It is so natural for us to try to micromanage, often times without even realizing it. We deeply analyze. We push so hard. All to make sure nothing goes wrong. But healing, growth, and alignment don't actually respond well to force. Now, as we come out of this practice, let's take just a minute to gently set our anchors for the day.Today, I commit to nourishing my body with microbiome friendly food and abundant water.Today, I choose to support my gut, mind, brain, nervous system, and liver with my rebalancing or maintenance supplements.Today, I trust that I am safe, and that everything is always working for me.And today, I will choose one small action that supports the life I am affirming.Let this practice orient your day and remind you that alignment is built through small, consistent choices. Let's take one slow breath here, and carry this with you. May your heart feel supported, your body feel safe, and your intuition lead your day.Trust your body. Follow your gut. Thanks for listening! In this conversation, I sit down with Trey Jones. Trey Jones is a former convict who spent 10 years in a Tennessee prison, and while in prison, he had a near-death experience that awakened him to a very new and different perspective. While tattooing, Trey was offered a bump, of which turned out to be fentanyl, that put him out for 18 minutes. After six cans of Narcan and three defibrillator shocks, Trey awakened to a new lens on reality. He joins us to share his current teachings on victim mindset, his insights on what he calls ‘inverted narcissism', and his wisdom as a coach - Trey moves now as a Personal Authority Coach under the moniker ‘PrisonToPurpose444' (He's the founder of ‘From Prison To Purpose') - He does 1:1 interventions to dismantle victim identity and rebuild authority. He lives a more grounded life these days, as a proud father with his partner and son in the Great Northwest. Recovering from trauma isn't easy. In fact, it can be a lifetime of work. Yet all too often, I've found that even people suffering from serious trauma, including complex PTSD, expect themselves to heal quickly or without any psychological support. In real life, however, healing from trauma takes time, gentle effort, and perseverance. As it's not always easy to access professional psychological support, self-help work is often a great source of healing and support. Today, I'm joined by a psychotraumatologist and author Ybe Casteleyn, who will guide us into the healing journey of trauma recovery. Topics discussed include trauma, somatic therapy, mindfulness, emotions, feelings, alcoholism, parenting, emotional abuse, physical abuse, trauma self-help, psychological support, criticism, self-development, inner child, and self-compassion. I would love to hear from you! Send me a one way text and share how Recover Your Soul is supporting you or what you would like to hear more about. What if the real healing isn't found in forcing yourself to be stronger, but in deciding its time to awaken?I'm a couple days away from celebrating 8 years sober, and I'm sharing this as a Soul Journey story. When I finally decided to stop drinking, it was more than giving up alcohol. It was a decision to listen to my Higher Self and step fully into the life my soul was asking for.In this episode, I take you back to a trip to Southeast Asia that gave me just enough space to remember who I am beneath the chaos. I share the moment that surprised me most, the car ride home from the airport when the old stress returned fast and I could feel the pull to escape rise up in my body. That was the moment I knew I had to choose myself.Inspired by Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth, we explore the pain body as the unconscious part of us that clings to old wounds, story, and suffering, always searching for relief. After years of debilitating endometriosis, failed fertility treatments, and a devastating miscarriage, Alyssa Chavez found herself at rock bottom—sitting in her closet every morning, crying, with zero resources for emotional support. The medical system had cleared her physically but left her completely alone in her grief. What happened next changed everything. In this deeply moving episode, Alyssa shares her 5-year journey from that closet floor to spontaneously conceiving her baby girl—not through more interventions, but through learning to listen to what her body had been trying to tell her all along. In this episode, we explore: Why "medically cleared" after pregnancy loss means nothing for your emotional, nervous system, or hormonal health The critical connection between your gut, nervous system, and reproductive system that most doctors never mention How symptoms aren't problems to fix—they're your body's communication system Why fertility isn't just about hormones (and what's really happening when your body won't conceive) The power of taking one tiny 1% step when you're feeling completely stuck How Alyssa went from debilitating endometriosis pain to completely pain-free periods What actually shifted when she stopped trying so hard and started supporting her nervous system This episode is for you if: You've been "cleared" medically but know something still isn't right You're tired of doctors offering only birth control or "just relax" You want to understand what your body is actually trying to tell you You're ready to reclaim your power in your own healing journey Alyssa's story is proof that your body isn't broken—it's brilliant. This episode of Uncommon Sense with Ginny Robinson covers the conversations people don't want to have, but that won't go away just because they're uncomfortable. We start with the newly released Epstein files and why their implications are being downplayed, rushed past, or deliberately blurred by our government. Then we address the circulating TPUSA / Erika Kirk / Charlie Kirk assassination-related news, breaking down what has actually been reported, what remains unclear, and why responsible people should care about facts, timelines, and accountability (as Candace Owens does). Truth matters, not carefully crafted false narratives.I also speak candidly about Trump's failures because blind loyalty helps no one, and criticism is not betrayal. If leadership is going to demand trust, it has to earn it. Same goes for respect. Finally, because many of you have asked, I address some personal matters: ongoing unwanted attention from men I have clearly and firmly removed from my life, including an individual by the name of Timothy Ronald C. (I will reveal his full legal name publicly if he does not leave me alone) and an ex whose post-NFL career implosions are not my responsibility to manage, nor care about. To be clear: this is not “dragging” solely for entertainment purposes. This is about boundaries I have made (which are very known). I am in a happy, healthy relationship, I have moved on, and these men will never see me again. This episode is about truth, discernment, and refusing to be bullied—politically, culturally, or personally—into silence. This is America, home of the brave and land of the FREE.--https://www.bible.com/

Question: What belief about yourself had to die for your new life to begin?Starting over isn't cute. The mindset shifts, the small habits, the grace I had to learn to give myself, and the reminder that where you are right now is not where you'll stay.If you've ever felt like:• you're behind in life• you're questioning your worth or confidence• you're carrying feelings of guilt• or you're standing at the edge of a new beginningThis episode is for you!Your feelings are real — but this season isn't permanent. Today we're exploring unschooling—not just as an educational choice, but as a deeply personal and often healing journey for parents themselves. My guest is Esther Jones, an unschooling mother of three, the founder of The Unschool Space podcast, and the author of The Parent's Handbook to Unschooling Yourself. Esther was led into unschooling by her own children, who challenged her to unravel long-held beliefs about parenting, learning, and neurodiversity. Esther and I talk about what it really takes to step away from conventional expectations and learn to trust children's natural learning processes. We also explore the emotional work parents often need to do along the way, the importance of self-care and community support, and how mindfulness and self-compassion can become essential tools as families build lives beyond traditional schooling—ones where both kids and parents can truly thrive. About Esther Jones Esther Jones is an unschooling mother of three, founder of the The Unschool Space podcast and author of the recently published The Parent's Handbook to Unschooling Yourself.Esther was led into unschooling by her children, who have helped her unravel years of conditioned beliefs around parenting, children, learning and neurodiversity. Today, she supports other parents in transforming their mindset and building a life beyond traditional schooling in which their children and themselves can thrive, using mindfulness and self-compassion as the foundational tools for change. Things you'll learn from this episode How unschooling requires parents to unlearn old beliefs and embrace the discomfort that signals growth Why trusting children to lead their own learning allows them to explore in organic, joyful ways How self-care and community support strengthen a parent's ability to show up for their child in an unschooling environment Why each child's needs may look different from their parent's—and how modeling our own passions supports their learning How online resources can expand support networks and deepen confidence for unschooling families Why the unschooling journey often becomes a healing process for parents as much as a learning journey for kids Resources mentioned Esther Jones' website The Parent's Handbook to Unschooling Yourself by Esther Jones The Unschool Space Podcast Esther Jones on Instagram Esther Jones on Substack A Conversation with Dr. Naomi Fisher on Self-Directed Learning (Tilt Parenting podcast) Blake Boles and His Book, Why Are You Still Sending Your Child to School? In this week's episode of the podcast, we talk candidly about what school refusal really means for children and their families, and how homeschooling can offer a path toward healing, connection, and growth. Whether you're considering pulling your child out of school or you're already homeschooling but feeling stuck after a tough season, this conversation is for you. Here are three key takeaways for parents facing this challenge: School refusal is communication, not a character flaw. When a child can't attend school, it's their nervous system asking for safety, not a sign of failure. Healing comes before academics. Focus on rebuilding connection, trust, and emotional safety—academics can (and will) follow once these foundations are strong. Small, intentional changes add up. Shifting your daily routine, setting gentle non-negotiables, and celebrating even the smallest progress can move families from burnout to breakthrough. You are the best teacher and advocate for your child. If you need more support, resources, or simply community, know you're not alone on this path. Let's keep learning and growing—together. Send us a textAre you moving through life on autopilot, reacting to triggers based on old programming rather than responding with intention? In a world that constantly demands we define ourselves by our jobs, relationships, and past traumas, finding our true identity can feel impossible. In this transformative episode of the Self Reflection Podcast, host Lira Ndifon dives deep into the art and journey of Self-Awareness. She explores the concept of stripping away societal labels to discover the divine being within, emphasizing that you are not your thoughts, your emotions, or your bank account. Lira shares her perspective not as a master, but as a fellow student of life, offering a vulnerable look at how self-awareness fosters empathy and self-compassion.The conversation shifts from theory to practice as Lira outlines the tangible benefits of becoming self-aware. She discusses how understanding your internal landscape helps you distinguish between reacting and responding, allowing for better emotional control. Lira also touches on the cultural nuances of setting boundaries—particularly within communal cultures—and how self-awareness is the prerequisite for building healthy relationships with others, and most importantly, with yourself. Finally, this episode provides actionable tools to begin your journey today. Lira breaks down three practical steps to cultivate awareness: implementing morning, midday, and evening check-ins; establishing a mindfulness practice; and the power of journaling to recognize patterns. EP:174 In this episode, I'm finally taking you behind the scenes of my Hashimoto's journey—from being told I was “in remission” to hitting a full-blown flare that looked a lot like grief, burnout, and perimenopause all rolled into one. I'll walk you through the timeline of my diagnosis, the scary symptoms (brain fog, hair loss, fatigue, joint pain, irregular cycles, sudden weight loss), and how I slowly realized this wasn't “just stress” or “just motherhood”… it was my thyroid and my nervous system screaming for help. I'm sharing exactly what I tried, what I quit, and what I still use today: low-dose naltrexone, why I chose not to start thyroid meds (for now), getting my IUD removed, my experience with functional and holistic doctors, parasite cleanses, Candida protocols, coffee enemas (spoiler: hard pass), and the vitamins, supplements, and Standard Process cleanse that actually help me feel human again. Most importantly, I'll talk about how learning to read my own body—my flares, fatigue, mood, sleep, and stress—has turned me into my own best advocate, not a passive patient waiting for someone else to “fix” me. If you're dealing with Hashimoto's, thyroid issues, perimenopause, hormone chaos, or you just feel “off” and dismissed by doctors, this episode will help you feel seen, give you language for what you're experiencing, and remind you that you're allowed to trust yourself, ask questions, and choose what feels right for YOUR body. If this episode resonated with you, share it with a friend who's struggling with unexplained symptoms, and leave your questions or takeaways in the comments/review—I'd love to do a follow-up episode answering what I didn't get to here. And if you're ready to support your nervous system and body on a deeper level, make sure you're subscribed to the podcast and my newsletter so you don't miss future episodes and resources. #Hashimotos #ThyroidHealth #AutoimmuneDisease #HashimotosJourney #Perimenopause #HormoneHealth #WomensHealth #HolisticHealth #FunctionalMedicine #ThyroidSupport #NervousSystemRegulation #ChronicFatigue #BrainFog #HairLoss #GutHealth #AntiInflammatoryDiet #GlutenFree #DairyFree #WomenOver35 #BurnoutRecovery #SelfAdvocacy #ListenToYourBody #BrookeWeinstein #ThriveLikeAParent #PodcastEpisode
