Where healing truly begins is often not with answers—but with a question. In this episode, we explore what it means to begin your healing journey after sexual trauma. From the importance of safety and nervous system readiness to the power of narrative reclamation, you'll learn why healing isn't about rushing or rehashing, but about choosing how and when your story wants to be heard. In part 2 of this powerful conversation, Charna sits down again with Ariella Daly: dream worker, animist, and beekeeper — to continue exploring how dreams can become profound guides for healing, recovery, and transformation. Together, we discuss practical tools for reclaiming your body, rebuilding your relationship with eros and creativity, and reconnecting to nature as a source of restoration. Ariella also offers insights into sensory practices, embodiment techniques, and how to integrate dream work into everyday life so it's not just a nighttime experience but a living practice. What happens when a woman, already stretched thin by life's demands, gets sick? Too often, she's left to navigate a maze of doctors, insurance companies, and well-meaning advice, alone. But as women's wellness advocate Rebecca Bloom reminds us, we shouldn't have to. In this powerful conversation, Rebecca shares her journey from corporate law to women's health advocacy, inspired by her mother's breast cancer diagnosis. For nearly 30 years, she has guided women through the overwhelming realities of the healthcare system, offering them clarity, strategy, and most importantly, support. Together, Nicola and Rebecca dive into the practical and emotional tools every woman should know when facing a health challenge: Why appointing a personal “Chief of Staff” can be a game-changer for managing care. The importance of reaching out to HR, case managers, and providers before problems arise. How to choose insurance the smart way — starting with your doctors, not the price tag. Why you should never “panic pay” medical bills (and how to catch common errors). How to set boundaries with others and protect your energy during recovery. Finding balance between evidence-based medicine and complementary holistic care. Rebecca's legal expertise and advocacy work shine through as she gives women the confidence to ask for help, take control of their healthcare decisions, and reject the outdated idea that illness must be endured in silence. If you or someone you love is navigating illness, this episode is a must-listen. You'll walk away with tools to advocate for yourself, protect your energy, and build a strong support system around you — because healing should never be a solo journey. In this episode of the UnabridgedMD Podcast, Dr. Isabelle Amigues sits down with Holly Gould to share her remarkable story of struggle, perseverance, and healing. After seeing more than a dozen doctors who couldn't provide answers, Holly felt she might never find relief. She recalls telling her husband, “If this person can't help me, I'll just have to live like this.” Out of options, she turned to Google—and that search led her to Dr. Amigues.Together, they explore what it means to be truly heard in a medical setting, how documenting every symptom—big and small—was key to unlocking proper treatment, and why compassionate follow-up, like Dr. Amigues' personal check-in call one week later, made all the difference. Holly describes how the right medication helped her day-to-day pain and how, for the first time in years, she sees a hopeful path toward remission. The conversation also highlights Dr. Amigues' philosophy: “Sometimes you can be a lot better, but it's not perfect. I want more than just a lot better.” For her, remission is always the goal—and fighting for her patients means never settling for less.Whether you're living with chronic illness, searching for a doctor who truly listens, or simply looking for hope in the healing journey, this episode offers compassion, empowerment, and a reminder that doctors who care are doctors who heal.Topics Covered:Why being truly heard matters in patient careThe turning point when Holly nearly gave up hopeHow documenting every symptom led to answersThe impact of personal follow-up calls from a doctorDr. Amigues' mission to help every patient reach remissionShifting from “just getting by” to true healingTune in to discover how persistence, compassion, and advocacy create the foundation for real healing—and why patients deserve more than “just a little better.”Thank you to special guest, Holly Gould, for sharing her story. In this second part of The In Between, we go deeper into the space between where you have been and where you are going, the place that feels messy, uncertain and full of doubt. This is where decisions are made, boundaries are set and enforced and uncomfortable feelings rise up asking to be felt. Some call it limbo, but I believe it is more than that, it is a fertile pause, the ground where healing takes root and trust begins to grow. In this episode, we will talk about how to sit with the muck, allow yourself to feel and still hold space for the life that is waiting for you on the other side. If you are navigating your own In Between, this conversation will remind you that you are not stuck you are just in The In Between. amyloganlife.com

So often we think healing is supposed to feel light and happy, but the reality is that it can be messy, repetitive, and downright uncomfortable. The church doesn't always give us language for this, and social media usually skips the hard parts, showing only the highlight reel of freedom. But real healing often means sitting in emotions that don't feel good, practicing rhythms that feel too simple, and learning to honor your body as the place where God Himself dwells. In this conversation, we'll talk about what healing actually looks like and why not feeling “good” doesn't mean you're doing it wrong. Chrissy opens up about her personal healing journey after military service, the limitations of traditional therapy, and the moment she chose to pursue a new approach to healing. This powerful discussion highlights the importance of community, the non-invasive and accessible nature of MAP, and the emotional intelligence needed for true transformation. You'll hear how trauma can be generational, how healing is a personal choice, and why it's essential not to minimize your own pain. This episode is a must-listen for veterans, trauma survivors, and anyone seeking a breakthrough in emotional well-being.Connect with Dr. Christine Emerick:

I have been captivated by the concept of The In Between, that mysterious space between enduring your pain and trauma and fully moving forward. It is a place where it is easy to get stuck in familiar patterns of suffering, because they have become uncomfortably comfortable. Pain can feel like an old snugle blanket you have held onto for years and letting go feels strange, even a little like losing yourself. But The In Between is also where transformation happens. It is where you begin to truly integrate all the tools you have learned along the way: setting boundaries, speaking up for yourself, saying no and meaning it, being gentle with yourself and leaning fully into your feelings. It can feel scary to step into this space, but it is also so magical. It is here, in the tension between what was and what can be, that you learn to trust yourself and your healing. Come with me as I explore this fascinating, powerful and sometimes uncomfortable place, The In Between. linktr.ee/amyloganlife

Real healing asks something of you. It's not a product you take. It's a path you walk. And the first step is choosing to actually begin. We have to talk about something that might sting a little.Because I can't tell you how many times I've heard, “I've tried everything.” And I get it. I've said that, too. But if we're being radically honest? Trying everything is often just trying a lot of things halfway. Jumping from one quick fix to another, hoping something sticks. Hoping something works without having to fully commit. That's not healing. That's surviving. That's symptom management. And if you're here for that, I'll tell you now - this isn't the podcast for you.But if you're here because you are done living in cycles of survival... If you're here because you're ready to break generational patterns, to claim a new way of being - for yourself, for your children - then this is the place for you. Thanks for listening! Send us a textIn this special solo episode, host Lira Ndifon extends a warm and crucial invitation to begin one of the most important journeys of your life: reconnecting with your inner child. She explains that everyone has an inner child—not as a "childlike personality," but as the part of the subconscious mind that holds our earliest memories, beliefs, and emotions, both good and bad. This part of you has been absorbing messages long before you could fully process them, shaping the person you are today. Becoming aware of your inner child is the key to building resilience and living a more joyful, creative, and fulfilling life.Lira discusses the consequences of neglecting this fundamental part of ourselves. When the inner child is rejected or its wounds go unaddressed, that pain resurfaces in adulthood, often showing up as anger, insecurity, fear of abandonment, perfectionism, or people-pleasing behaviors. However, she emphasizes that it is never too late to start the healing process. This episode serves as a powerful reminder that acknowledging your past is essential for reclaiming your future. To guide you on this path, Lira officially announces her upcoming Inner Child Healing Workshop on August 23rd. She describes the workshop as a dedicated safe space designed to help you dive into your emotions, reconnect with yourself, and allow your inner child to finally flourish. If you are ready to heal, move forward with more confidence, and meet the younger version of yourself with compassion, this is your invitation to begin.Support the showCall to Action: Engage with the Self-Reflection Podcast community! Have you ever felt almost afraid to set a boundary—especially with someone you love? You're not alone. In this episode, I share the story of a client who jokingly called it “boundary phobia” and how that phrase perfectly captures the fear and discomfort so many of us feel when we try to protect our time, energy, or emotional well-being. We'll talk about: The fears that keep us saying “yes” when we want to say “no” The myths we've been taught about boundaries and relationships Why boundaries are about action as much as they are about words How to set healthy boundaries with yourself first—and why that's the key to holding them with others A short guided reflection to help you identify one internal boundary you can start practicing today If you've been feeling drained, resentful, or guilty about saying no, this episode will help you shift the way you think about boundaries so they feel less like walls and more like doors you control. As we move through August, I want to talk about what I am calling "The In Between." The in between of pain/trauma/struggles and healing and truly moving through it all to get to the place of living the life you want. It is tricky because you are so used to our pain/trauma/struggles that you may not really know who you are without it. Who are you without high levels of anxiety? Who are you without thinking about how you have been wronged? Who are you without the rumination and worry of your pain? The worry and rumination keep you tethered to your pain. Learning to move through it all takes time and practice. If you find yourself clinging to your pain, don't worry, it is actually a good sign if you can see that you do that. As you reflect on your own journey, tune into this meditation and let your body relax and connect with your higher self. You have to slow down the noise of life to see if you are stuck in your old ways. They are familiar to you, so it makes sense that you cling. Even uncomfortable feels comfortable sometimes. It can feel very scary to set down this piece of you, the old you, the one that was so in her pain that she could see no way out, to the you that can see a way out, but your identity and stories and way of being, keep you locked into the only way of being you know. This in between is such a scary place to be. However, if you lean into trusting yourself, a whole new world will open up for you. Are you wiling to build your "trusting yourself" muscle? This is the place where all the magic happens.
