Today, I interview Robin Humphreys, who once felt her voice caught in her throat and her body tense with fear. She shares how creative expression became her lifeline, helping her release what she couldn't say out loud.Growing up sensitive and full of imagination, Robin later faced experiences that taught her to hold back her voice. Years of silence led to a deep disconnection from her own safety and expression, until art and body-based healing began to show her another way to live and speak. Now, Robin helps others find that same freedom, guiding them to calm anxiety, reconnect with their bodies, and rediscover their authentic voice. Her work reminds us that healing and self-expression often rise together, leading us back to what is most true within.__________________Robin Humphreys is the visionary Founder and CEO of Phoenix Heart Healing. This week, Jake and Bob welcome Dr. Shane Owens to explore how desire, the heart, and theology work together for our good, through the lens of St. Augustine's Confessions. Dr. Owens breaks down St. Augustine's healing journey and how by understanding the desires motivating our actions, we are led into deeper communion with God. They also discuss how memories shape our view of reality, why we distrust a good God, and what the Scriptures teach us about our identity. Key Points: Our desires ultimately point us towards God Sin is a result of misdirecting our desires towards something that is not God. It is an attempt to counterfeit the beautiful Memory is dynamic, not static, and returning to our heart to examine our memories plays an important role in forming our identity and facilitating healing. St. Augustine's willingness to be vulnerable in his "Confessions" is a model for vulnerability and understanding our desires. Scripture helps us recognize true beauty and reveals our true identity There will always be a tension between our desires and satisfying those desires. Healing and maturation occurs when we listen to our desires but wait for true fulfillment in God rather than settling for counterfeits. Send us a textWhat if the plan that looks perfect on paper leaves you empty when the noise dies down? We sit with Giovanna Silvestre—creator of Confused Girl and author of Confused Girl: Find Your Peace in the Chaos—to explore how chasing boxes, status, or a picture-perfect family can't touch the deeper ache for self-worth. Giovanna walks us through leaving Hollywood, almost taking over her family's restaurant, and choosing uncertainty over a life that didn't fit. That choice cracked open depression, then clarity, and eventually the practices that helped her build a bottom to her cup so joy could finally stick. You'll hear practical tools you can use today: short daily solitude, self-talk that heals instead of harms, and simple rituals to release shame and guilt. Not a visualizer? Try embodied grounding—yoga, swimming, dance, or even structured “rage” release—to remind your nervous system you are worthy of joy. We unpack the comparison trap amplified by social media, and Giovanna offers two powerful reframes: bless what you desire when you see it, and turn envy into curiosity by asking mentors how they did it. These shifts move you from lack and timeline panic to alignment and forward motion. We also dig into why women carry inherited shame around bodies, sex, and aging, and how naming it breaks its spell. Giovanna shares the long road to publishing her book—years of writing, rejection, and then a breakthrough right before her father passed—underscoring a bigger theme: trust the timing of your life. If you've felt confused, behind, or secretly hollow while “doing everything right,” this conversation will help you choose from your true nature, not from fear. Today, I interview Heidi Fischbach who grew up in a strict, high-control environment where fear and rules shaped how she learned to speak and exist. From an early age, she carried the weight of right and wrong, heaven and hell, and learned to stay small to stay safe.As she grew older, this constant vigilance became anxiety and self-silencing. Her turning point came when she began to understand how the body holds old fear-based patterns, and how healing the nervous system can restore a sense of safety and calm. Through curiosity and self-friendliness, she learned that safety isn't just emotional, it's physical, and that when the body feels safe, the voice naturally begins to emerge.Today, Heidi helps others reset their nervous systems and rediscover what it feels like to be calm, connected, and expressive. She teaches that healing happens in small, steady increments, not through force, but through gentleness and presence.__________________Heidi Fischbach is a nervous system coach and writer who helps people reset after high-control environments, whether that's a fundamentalist religion, a rigid family system, or chronic survival mode. Today, I interview Catherine G. Lucas who opens up about losing her voice in the midst of a painful breakdown. In her late teens she was already standing on stage for public speaking competitions, but by the time her parents divorced during her university years, the weight of family wounds caught up with her. Instead of enjoying summer with friends, she found herself in an acute psychiatric ward, her world shattered and her voice silenced. Her breakthrough came much later, when she discovered that what had been called a breakdown could also be seen as an awakening. It took years of reframing and deep inner work to see her experience not as illness, but as a turning point with the potential for healing.Through mindfulness, patient advocacy, and writing her first book, In Case of Spiritual Emergency, Catherine began to speak from her whole self rather than hide in shame. Today she helps others step into their deeper calling, showing that finding your voice is not about perfection but about expressing the truth of who you are in a way that heals and uplifts.__________________Catherine G. TJ sits down with Meghan Blanchette, a woman whose journey through addiction, relapse, and self-discovery offers a powerful look at what long-term recovery truly means.Meghan shares how her first sobriety date in 2015 marked the beginning of a new chapter—but a prescribed medication after surgery tested her honesty and recovery principles. She chose to reset her sobriety date, a humbling act that redefined her integrity and commitment to healing. Her story opens an important conversation about prescribed medication, relapse, and the moral choices that often accompany recovery.Growing up as an only child who moved frequently, Meghan reflects on how instability and self-blame laid early groundwork for addiction. Introduced to alcohol in middle school and later to opiates through a prescription, her dependency quickly escalated. By her twenties, Meghan was battling homelessness, withdrawal, and despair—until a moment of clarity walking along a busy road pushed her to seek help.Calling her mother and entering detox through Connecticut's 2-1-1 system became the turning point. Meghan went from living in a tent to completing multiple recovery programs—detox, 90-day treatment, halfway housing, and eventually independent living—each step teaching her life skills, self-respect, and community connection.Today, Meghan thrives as a speaker, coach, and the chairwoman of the board at InterCommunity, the very organization that once helped her rebuild her life. Through her platform FiercelyMeghan.com, she empowers others with lessons in emotional intelligence, self-worth, and recovery principles that apply far beyond addiction. ----Across the Web----

Send us a textEver wonder why you keep falling into the same relationship patterns? Or why certain childhood memories still sting decades later? The truth might be uncomfortable: you're living out scripts handed down by your parents—scripts they inherited from their parents before them. This episode dives deep into the generational patterns that shape our lives without our permission or awareness. As your host Corey Berrier reveals his personal journey, you'll recognize how childhood experiences before age seven program your subconscious mind, creating protective masks that once saved you but now suffocate your authentic self. Whether you became the overachiever, the people-pleaser, or the tough guy, these adaptations create a fracture between who you truly are and who you believe you must be to survive. The wake-up call comes when you notice the maddening repetition in your life—different partners but same fights, different jobs but same problems. That's not coincidence; it's your inherited script running on autopilot. But here's the empowering truth: what you inherit isn't your destiny. The healing journey isn't about becoming someone new—it's about becoming who you were before the masks.Ready to put down the generational burdens you never asked to carry? Ready to hold the pen that rewrites your story? This episode offers both the compassionate understanding and practical wisdom to help you break the chain and finally live authentically. Your inherited past doesn't have to determine your future.
