Hello, Thanks for joining me for this episode of Evenings with Jeph From Frail. I hope you're all keeping well and getting lots of rest. If that second part has been eluding you as of late, don't worry. I'm here tonight with a few stories from our very best friends and biggest fans James Pyne and Clarence Carter. I just recently celebrated my 40th birthday and James Pyne messaged me wishing me a happy birthday and extended an offer to write a short story just for me based on a few criteria set by my wishes. Well, I just had to share it with you all so I will. My criteria were: Post Apocalyptic, Utopia and Balance. It was also tied in with one of my favorite pieces of art and if you follow James on Facebook, you can read along with the story and see the beautiful image I'm referring to. You can also check out the image I'm talking about by following the artist that painted it: Jenn Hickey, on all social platforms. Links to these in the show notes as always. The Next story in tonight's line up is from Clarence Carter, who by the way is currently donating all the proceeds of the sale of his book "No Honor Among Thieves" to charity for a current world-issue that I am not referring to outside of this one sentence. We are after all... trying to fall asleep here. The story he's sharing with us this month is called The Book Club Murder. The title tells you everything you need to know about it. I haven't done a pre-read of this story yet. And going forward I don't think I will anymore. I want to experience the story for the first time along with you. I'll still edit out REALLY bad stumbles and mispronunciations but Let's focus on sharing and experiencing the story together. If you have your own short story you'd like to have featured on the show simply email me your submissions. I may not read them all on the show, but I promise I will read them all. Send them to jephfromfrail@gmail.com that's Jeph...... with a P-H Don't forget: creating together is what makes us all shine brightFeatured Artist's Social links:Jenn Hickey-Facebook-Instagram-YouTubeJames Pyne-Facebook-AmazonClarence Carter-Facebook-AmazonSupport the show (http://patreon.com/eveningswithjeph)
Hello, Thanks for joining me for this episode of Evenings with Jeph From Frail. I'd like to start this week by apologizing for being so absent in your life as of late. There's been some changes in my personal life that have prevented me from sticking to my weekly release schedule, BUT because I love you, I'm here this week to make up for that lost time by presenting you not 1 but two musical guests as well as our regular relaxation and story segments! One more apology... The musical guests tonight aren't exactly sleepy music. and for that I'm sorry but I'm not sorry for what you're about to experience, as it is well worth the extra few mins of staying awake until we get into the relaxing part of the show. Our first guest this evening is Mike Hiltz, the lead singer and bass player for the power duo The Bombed Solid out of Pictou NS Canada this 2-piece rock and roll machine has Mike Hiltz fronting the team and swinging the 4-string chainsaw providing the heavy side of groove and with Eli Hollett banging on the cans like everyone's favourite wide-eyed musical Muppet they give some of the best stage performances I've seen anywhere! We'll talk a little about them and their recently released debut self-titled album and play you one of my favourite tracks from it. It's loud and man is it good! Our next guest helps us bring the tempo and vibe down a bit. His name is Thomas T. Gunnz, one of the most punk rock fellas you will EVER meet, and tonight for the very first time we have an Evenings with Jeph from FrAiL world Premiere with Tom's previously unreleased country song Hellbent. We talk about how he went from Angst-filled punk throwing up beer foam and middle fingers to the smooth-silky voiced country singer he's becoming today and of course give you the pleasure of being some of the first people ever to hear the beginning of his journey! After our musical guests, I'll guide you into relaxation and prepare you for bed and then when you're nice and cozy and ready for a story, I'll be reading you the latest original love story by our own resident writer and super fan Clarence Carter called Donation. I just finished reading my copy of Clarence's book "No Honor Among Thieves" and man is it good. Wonderful deep characters and a super cool story of good thieves, gone bad and how betrayal is around every corner. If you have your own short story or song you'd like to have featured on the show simply email me your submissions with the theme of luck for the month of March now, I may not read them all on the show, but I promise I will read them all. Hello, Thanks for joining me for this episode of Evenings with Jeph From Frail. As we continue to grow and evolve the show I'll be experimenting with some new segments and features and of course hoping for your feedback to ensure this show stays what you want it to be! For this episode, I'm going to start with a little music. I'll always keep it acoustic and light, so no rock or metal or punk right before bed I promise, but you never know what you'll get with me, so stay tuned for other musical guests coming this season.Now... This adorable little love song was submitted to us from Critic The Rapper out of Portland Maine, USA. You can check out all his great work and wide variety of tunes at the links listed in the show notes... but make sure to follow him so you know when his new album Verse 30 is ready for you to download! Critic The Rapper is a Multi-talented artist and creator so don't let his name fool you ....not all his music is rap! As a matter of fact this one has a wonderful airy, and folky feeling to it and if I'm being honest is my new favourite song!!Tonight I'll be reading you a submission from a brand new name here Wolfgang Domino.Mr. Domino is a fan of the show and community member just like you. When he found out about this month's theme I just knew I'd be hearing from him. His style of writing is hot, salacious and sexy as hell. So if you're not into sex, this episode may not be for you. But first, let's check out that song shall we?If you have a short story you'd like to have featured on the show simply email me your submissions with the theme of love for the month of Feb. now, I may not read them all on the show, but I promise I will read them all. Welcome back and Thanks for joining me for our Season 2 Premiere here on Evenings with Jeph From Frail. Back in December I said I'd be taking a short break and hoped you'd all still be here when I got back, and sure enough, look at you. Back in bed with me. Thank you for your continued support and telling all your friends about me and my little sleepy time show. Thank you again for the love folks. It means so so much. We're going to start off Season 2 by celebrating just that. Love. I'm going to start with part two of my own original story, picking up right where I left off with HIM walking into HER pastry shop. Be sure to check out book 1 to make sure you know who's who in the big world of Big Cranky you can buy it simply by clicking here. Speaking of the holidays and gift giving season why not make sure we all support each other by buying locally made products and services from the people in our own communities? Let's skip the malls and hassle this year and go to that little shop or bakery. buy some records or hand made jewelry. maybe Book a tarot card or palm reading for someone, Can't get out of the house? research local authors and buy their books online! ***This episode contains mature themes and language. Discretion is advised*** This week's Guest Reader is the driving force behind the "More Than Me" movement, an outreach agent for Efficiency Nova Scotia, a mother, a great friend to great people, a collaborator, a painter, a poet and writer, a lover of nature and animals, an amazing chef, and my life partner; Jenn Hickey!More Than MeI know I said last week that the theme of the month was going to be war and remembrance, but it's my show and I can do whatever I want! ;D So instead of reading something with that theme, we're going in a completely different direction and reading an adult sci-fi /love story sent in by Clarence Carter. Clarence is a fellow podcaster and half of the team over at "The Writer's Block" He and his co-host Shaun Nigro create a weekly show of conversation and improv story-telling. This episode contains language and themes suited for a mature audience. Listener discretion is advised.Today is Remembrance Day here in Canada. It is a time to to remember the brave soldiers on all sides who selfishly gave the ultimate sacrifice, fighting for what they thought what was right and therefore allow us the freedoms we all sometimes take for granted. I hope you had a chance today to thank a veteran, go to a service at your local cenotaph, or, just take a minute of silence at to remember them, Lest we forget. This week's stories will follow the theme of the month: War and Remembrance. Our first selection was written by my dad, Claude Balesdent. His short is told from the eyes of a Canadian Soldier just days before the famous Vimmy Ridge battle. Our second submission is from our most consistent and reliable contributor; James Pyne. Jame's story takes us on a recon mission that goes well... not as calculated. Relax, Enjoy, Sleep Well and..... Remember Them, Lest we forget.Support the show (http://patreon.com/eveningswithjeph)
This week I will be reading a modern take on the classic fairy tale "Hansel and Gretel" written by one of our biggest supporters here at the show; the one and only Mr. James Pyne. I am starting this Podcast with the hopes that it will help you fall asleep easier by listening to me read you stories of all genres and from a myriad of authors, and that through my love of story telling, perhaps help you with your literacy and also fuel in you, a love for the written word.Due to budget constraints: I will be reading from a selection of Public Domain pieces to avoid copyright issues. So with that being said; Please feel free to send me your own short stories that you'd like featured on this podcast and that way, we can grow together! Please email your submissions to jephfromfrail@gmail.comIn this debut episode, Jeph reads "An Encounter" written by James Joyce in 1905 (but not published until 1914 due to objections raised by his printers) The story is an excerpt from a collection of stories entitled "Dubliners" Some of the words used are outdated, and maybe found offensive by some listeners. I am bringing these stories to you as the author intended, and never to offend. Now......Relax. Enjoy, and sleep well.Support the show (http://patreon.com/eveningswithjeph)
