What did God make us for?

Man-made religion puts self above others and rules above relationships. It makes us blind to our sin and deaf to God.

Jesus shows us the way back to how things are supposed to be.

We tend to limit our love to those who are like us and those who like us, but Jesus shows us the kind of love that we long for.

We are often quick to judge harshly and slow to show mercy because we have a vision problem that must be corrected by seeing God as merciful and loving toward us.

Greed always wants more, and worry never has enough, but trusting God brings satisfaction and security.

The things we pray for are a reflection of what we think the good life looks like.

When we base our sense of self-worth on the approval of those around us, we settle for a lesser, temporary reward.

We pretend that we're better than we actually are, but the good news is that God is committed to loving us anyway.

Only when we admit that we can't live up to Jesus' standard on our own do we have the opportunity to rely on his strength and power instead.

Because of Jesus, we have been saved, are being saved, and will be saved.

Jesus invites us to become who we are meant to be, instead of trying to be something we are not.

How good is life for those who long to do right, make right, and show mercy!

We can't have the good life without "right-us-ness" (righteousness).

Jesus calls us to admit that we need help, humble ourselves as he did, and long for our broken world to be healed.

Jesus tells and shows us how to sacrificially love others while we let him sacrificially love us.

How far did God's love go? From a throne of endless glory to a cradle in the dirt.

In a world where power and privilege are often abused and hoarded, Jesus gives up infinite power and sets aside all privileges to demonstrate his love for us.

Jesus was born into the mess of our world to restore the withness between us and God.

Culture tells us to define ourselves as lovers, but God tells is that we are defined as beloved.

God is both just and the justifier.

No matter what your past or present look like, Jesus can give you hope for the future.

Whether you are a Jonah or a Nineveh, no one is too far gone for God's scandalous grace.

How can God forgive "those people" who don't deserve it? Because he can forgive people like you and me who don't deserve it.

God's radical love calls us to respect our government leaders through submission and obey Jesus through subversion.

When we hit rock bottom, Jesus joins us in the pit and brings us up and out.

Even when we turn our backs on Jesus, he is not against us, he moves toward us, and he walks beside us.

We learn to love like Jesus through being loved by Jesus.

As we follow Rabbi Jesus together, our goal as disciples is to master his teachings and master his way of life.

Prayer is the way we put on the armor of God and aim our hearts toward him.

When we trust that God's Word is true and good, it becomes a powerful tool for us to use against the Devil's schemes.

Thinking about our salvation protects our minds from the enemy.

The truth about God, revealed primarily and personally in Jesus, is essential for making us ready to fight against the devil's schemes.

Just like with real armor, the armor of God must be donned before it is needed. Putting on the Shoes of Gospel Peace enables us to be ready to invite people to explore what it means to have a relationship with Jesus.

The only righteousness that effective in doing battle against Satan is the righteousness of Christ Jesus.

Take up the shield of faith, because our glorious future will be way better than our painful present.

Jesus died on a cross for you and me, disproving Satan's lie that we're too broken for God's love.

How do we take God's Word from listening to living? We pray on the armor of God and become strengthened by it.

Walk carefully in wisdom, and submit to each other out of reverence for Christ.
