Peter, that well-known fisherman and disciple of Jesus, like us had many decisions to make about whether he would intentionally follow Jesus or not. In this Talk we briefly look at seven incidents in his life and are encouraged to fully give ourselves to God.Society tells us that in any instance in our life we need to be independent and give lots of energy and time to something as we'll either sink or swim. The Bible contradicts this. It is not a problem to sink, swim, walk, leap or limp in our lives. We should certainly call out to God and to others and get their help. Absolutely nothing disqualifies us from being with God. Sinking is allowed. We are not a loser if we are sinking! The script for the whole Service can be read here.

Instead of addressing urgent domestic issues that affect everyday Brits, Starmer seems more focused on international matters, leaving the UK struggling with skyrocketing living costs, rampant crime, and increasing poverty.  The UK has been ranked only the 23rd best place to live globally – a direct result of woke policies that ignore common sense and deteriorate society. Meanwhile, UK cities like Birmingham are plagued by rubbish in the streets and rat-infested neighborhoods. Starmer's misplaced priorities, including his push for deeper involvement in Ukraine, are leaving the UK weaker and more divided. A little past midnight on July 30, 1945, the USS Indianapolis, a US Navy cruiser, had just delivered the uranium that would be used in the first nuclear bomb dropped on Japan, and was returning to the Philippines when it was struck by a Japanese torpedo. The ship was badly damaged in the attack and within ten minutes it rolled onto its side, dumping 890 crewmen into the pitch-black ocean and dragging the remaining 300 down with the ship. Those who survived the torpedo strike did what they could to grab supplies before abandoning ship, but there were very few life boats or life jackets, so many of the sailors had to float in the water or cling to the few rafts they did manage to take before jumping from the boat. To make matters worse, their mission had been highly confidential and no one in the Navy knew where the Indianapolis was, much less that it had sank. The surviving crew thought things were about as bad as they could get, then the sharks began showing up.Thank you to the Incredible Dave White of Bring Me the Axe Podcast for research and Writing support!ReferencesAssociated Press. 1945. From the prehistoric to the modern, the history of dentistry can be a bit painful. Starting crudely and moving up to the idea of "tooth worms" we slowly and painfully made progress in how we care for our teeth. Then in the 1800s we made amazing leaps in knowledge and treatment, and luckily with the help of novocaine.

In the time since she became Prime Minister of Barbados in 2018, Mia Mottley has become known as a moral force for action on climate change. The Bridgetown Initiative, which she launched at COP26 in 2021, transformed the conversation around climate finance – pushing rich nations to do more to support developing countries struggling with the impact of climate change. But as the US retreats from climate action, her bold vision faces new challenges. At the Sustainable Energy for All Global Forum in Barbados, she tells Akshat Rathi why she remains optimistic, and she spoke about the role of pragmatism in tackling the climate challenge. President Trump continues to wield the ax in a manner consistent with Unitary Executive theory.  The question is, is it also consistent with the Constitution, and with the various statutes on the books that are at odds with that theory?  Professor Calabresi returns for more discussion of this crucial question; in this episode, Akhil is pressing a number of challenges to the theory.  Among these is an important example from the early Republic, which indeed followed soon after the Decision of 1789, which is so heavily relied upon by proponents of the unitary executive.  History, text, structure  - all come together in a lively debate.
