You'd be honestly surprised at how many people were so deeply touched and effected by the event. Sorry for sounding so gloomy at the end, but sometimes I get bummed out. Not as bummed as the families of those lost on Gitchi Goomie mind you. With all that said, there are only two more episodes in the year, but they are really something. We'll be having our least nauseating visit to Victorian England in search of outdoor entertainment. And the last episode is our return to the Disaster Moviesode format by popular demand. The last time we did one, it was the 1998 Michael Bay schlocktacular “Armageddon” – a movie so bereft of sense or scientific consideration, they used it at NASA as a test to see how many things you could find wrong with it. Murrow Lake Washington Floating Bridge (which sank on November 25, 1990 while undergoing renovation). The bridge named for Hadley was opened to vehicle traffic circa 1990, though it was not officially dedicated to him until July 17, 1993. In 1918, a German U-Boat emerged from the waters of the North Atlantic and fired a torpedo at HHMS Llandovery Castle. It became one of the worst atrocities of the First World War. In a storm that blew hurricane force winds on Nov. 10, 1975, the Edmund Fitzgerald — a massive ore carrier longer than two football fields — disappeared into the dark, frigid waters of Lake Superior. All 29 crew members were lost. Fifty years later, the sinking of the Fitzgerald remains one of the most haunting and mysterious maritime disasters in American history.
