In this important and thoughtful episode of Quietly Visible, host Carol Stewart is joined by employment discrimination attorney Brittany Stevens, a multi-award-winning partner at Phillips & Associates. Together, they explore the realities of sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace — a topic that still affects a significant number of women globally.Brittany shares insights from her work advocating for employees who have experienced harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. The conversation explores why so many incidents go unreported, how power dynamics can make it difficult for women to speak up, and what steps individuals can take if they find themselves in this situation. Carol and Brittany also discuss the emotional impact of workplace harassment and the importance of creating environments where people feel safe to raise concerns. This episode offers practical guidance as well as reassurance for anyone navigating difficult workplace dynamics.Key TakeawaysSexual harassment remains widespread: Many women experience unwelcome behaviour at work, yet a significant number of cases go unreported due to fear of retaliation or damage to career prospects.Power dynamics matter: Harassment often occurs where there is a strong imbalance of power, making it especially difficult for early-career professionals to speak up.Documentation can be powerful: Keeping records, messages, and written complaints can help support a claim if someone decides to report harassment.Retaliation is unlawful: Employees have legal protections when they raise concerns about harassment, although retaliation can sometimes appear in subtle forms.Workplace culture matters: Organisations must actively enforce policies and create environments where employees feel safe reporting inappropriate behaviour. If you've ever wondered what your rights are, how to navigate a difficult workplace situation, or how organisations can better support their people, this episode provides valuable insight and encouragement.

Is retaliation ever justified? In this episode, you explore Jesus' teaching from Matthew 5:38–42 and what it means to live faithfully in a world shaped by revenge, power, and division. By starting with Jesus as the lens for understanding scripture, the conversation uncovers how interpretations can lead to very different responses to conflict and harm. You are guided through four common approaches to retaliation: unlimited retaliation, limited retaliation, limited love, and the radically different way of unconditional love. Each perspective reveals something about human nature, but only one reflects the heart of God. This episode challenges the idea that love is weak or impractical. Instead, you are invited to see love as a courageous, identity-shaping response rooted in being a beloved child of God. Loving enemies, going the second mile, and turning the other cheek are not passive acts but powerful expressions of God's peace at work in your life. As you listen, you are encouraged to consider how you respond to hurt, injustice, and conflict, and how choosing unconditional love can transform not only your relationships but the world around you. Step into the mission field with a renewed call to be a peacemaker, embodying the love of God in every interaction.

Comment on the Show by Sending Mark a Text Message. What happens when an employee's right to a safe and inclusive workplace is challenged by the very company that hired them? In this episode of the Employee Survival Guide®, Mark Carey takes listeners on a deep dive into retaliation discrimination. Through the case of Carmen Jane, a Black transgender woman and former Diversity and Inclusion Manager at Henry Schein, Inc. , we explore the harsh realities of discrimination, retaliation, and the importance of employee rights. Carmen was hired for a fully remote role, yet she found herself unexpectedly compelled to attend an in-person corporate event. What should have been a routine gathering quickly became a hostile environment as she faced potential transphobic remarks from her colleagues. When Carmen courageously reported these incidents, she was met with the shocking aftermath: just three business days later, she was terminated under the vague pretense of being a 'poor fit. ' This abrupt dismissal not only raises questions about workplace culture but also highlights the legal intricacies surrounding retaliation claims versus discrimination claims. Listeners will gain invaluable insights into the timeline of events that can dramatically alter the outcomes of legal disputes. Mark discusses the chilling effects of retaliation, the importance of following HR protocols, and the broader implications for workplace dynamics. This episode serves as a powerful reminder of the rights of employees in the face of discrimination and the essential tools for navigating employment law issues that can arise in today's complex work environment. Whether you're dealing with hostile work environments, retaliation, considering a severance negotiation, or simply seeking to understand your rights in the workplace, this episode is packed with essential information. The cartel theory has dominated online discussion of the Nancy Guthrie disappearance. Coordinated kidnapping crews. Private jets to Puerto Vallarta. Retaliation for U.S. drug policy. But the doorbell footage shows something else entirely.FBI experts have called the suspect's behavior "amateurish." The person didn't know there was a camera. They grabbed weeds from the yard to cover it — on the spot, improvised. They carried a weapon in what's been described as an unprofessional manner. This doesn't look like cartel sophistication. This looks like someone who didn't plan for what they encountered.Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott joins True Crime Today to examine why the public gravitates toward elaborate conspiracy theories when the evidence suggests something simpler — especially when the victim is famous.A Border Patrol officer told reporters that cartels don't target people in the U.S. because it brings attention they don't want. Pima County has explicitly said there's no indication Nancy was taken to Mexico.Sheriff Nanos called it a "targeted kidnapping." But if it was targeted, wouldn't the suspect have known about the camera? We're more than 31 days in with no arrest. Multiple ransom notes have flooded media outlets — at least four to TMZ. One person has already been arrested for a fake demand.Shavaun Scott has worked extensively with offenders who commit crimes that spiral out of control — theft or burglary that escalates into violence when things go wrong. If this was a break-in gone catastrophically sideways, what does the psychology look like? This episode cuts through the speculation to examine what the evidence actually suggests.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? One year ago, Donald Trump launched his war on law firms with unconstitutional executive orders targeting firms he didn't like. Four firms fought back and won. Nine others capitulated, pledging over $1 billion in free legal services to Trump-favored causes. And 187 of the top 200 law firms said nothing. Now, in an unprecedented move, Trump's Department of Justice dismissed its own appeal against the firms that fought back — only to reinstate it the very next morning. Marc Elias, who has practiced law for 30 years, explains why this has never happened before, what it means for the rule of law, and what it reveals about the DOJ's lack of independence from the White House.Support Democracy Docket's mission:https://newsletters.democracydocket.com/anchor-youtube-thursday00:00 Trump's War on Law Firms01:10 A Year of Retaliation and Executive Orders01:53 Targeting Perkins Coie06:01 Paul Weiss Capitulates10:45 The Silent Majority of Big Law14:49 The Four Firms That Fought — And Won17:22 DOJ Dismisses the Appeal21:15 DOJ Reverses Itself in 24 Hours25:36 Why Trump Got Angry28:09 Why Letting the Appeal Proceed Could Backfire30:38 A Reckoning for the Nine Firms33:14 Who Stands Up — And Who Stays Silent35:17 What You Can Do

The joint U.S.–Israeli campaign is still underway, with strikes targeting Iranian missile and naval capabilities while Tehran and its proxies retaliate against U.S. interests in the region. What began as a decapitation strike has quickly expanded into a broader military effort, raising questions about how far the United States intends to go.Is this still a limited operation, or the start of a longer regional conflict? How long can the United States realistically sustain a campaign of this scale? And as Congress debates war powers and funding while global shipping, energy markets, and U.S. force posture come under pressure, what are the wider consequences of this campaign?Check out the answers to these questions and more in this episode of Fault Lines.@morganlroach@andykeiser@nottvjessjones@WashingtonFlackLike what we're doing here?
