One year ago, Donald Trump launched his war on law firms with unconstitutional executive orders targeting firms he didn't like. Four firms fought back and won. Nine others capitulated, pledging over $1 billion in free legal services to Trump-favored causes. And 187 of the top 200 law firms said nothing. Now, in an unprecedented move, Trump's Department of Justice dismissed its own appeal against the firms that fought back — only to reinstate it the very next morning. Marc Elias, who has practiced law for 30 years, explains why this has never happened before, what it means for the rule of law, and what it reveals about the DOJ's lack of independence from the White House.Support Democracy Docket's mission:https://newsletters.democracydocket.com/anchor-youtube-thursday00:00 Trump's War on Law Firms01:10 A Year of Retaliation and Executive Orders01:53 Targeting Perkins Coie06:01 Paul Weiss Capitulates10:45 The Silent Majority of Big Law14:49 The Four Firms That Fought — And Won17:22 DOJ Dismisses the Appeal21:15 DOJ Reverses Itself in 24 Hours25:36 Why Trump Got Angry28:09 Why Letting the Appeal Proceed Could Backfire30:38 A Reckoning for the Nine Firms33:14 Who Stands Up — And Who Stays Silent35:17 What You Can Do

Today, Morgan, Andy, Jess, and Marc provide an update on the escalating conflict with Iran following the launch of Operation Epic Fury. The joint U.S.–Israeli campaign is still underway, with strikes targeting Iranian missile and naval capabilities while Tehran and its proxies retaliate against U.S. interests in the region. What began as a decapitation strike has quickly expanded into a broader military effort, raising questions about how far the United States intends to go.Is this still a limited operation, or the start of a longer regional conflict? How long can the United States realistically sustain a campaign of this scale? And as Congress debates war powers and funding while global shipping, energy markets, and U.S. force posture come under pressure, what are the wider consequences of this campaign?Check out the answers to these questions and more in this episode of Fault Lines.@morganlroach@andykeiser@nottvjessjones@WashingtonFlackLike what we're doing here? Tensions explode—Sal Assante breaks down the massive U.S.-Israel joint strikes on Iran that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, targeting nuclear sites, missile launchers, and leadership in a bold regime change bid after failed nuclear talks. Retaliation rains: Iran hits U.S. bases (3 American troops dead), Israel, and Gulf targets, sparking fears of wider war. Sal dissects media propaganda justifying escalation, Israel's heavy influence on U.S. policy, economic fallout (oil shocks, markets rattled), and echoes of Wesley Clark's "7 countries in 5 years" plan ending with Iran. "Propaganda is used to justify war"—vote out the warmongers before it's World War III rampant again. Geopolitics, military budgets, and hidden strategies exposed.
Warning: Only listen if you can handle the uncomfortable questions most political analysts and commentators avoid. Everyone thinks the Iran–U.S.–Israel clash is about missiles and retaliation—but what if it's really about control, disposable allies, and who gets to own the Middle East's future? From the Shah's fall to today's escalation, this fact-filled analysis adds insight into how the Iran–U.S. relationship has never been as simple as “enemy vs. enemy.” It shows how wars, proxies, and nuclear pressure are used to manage the region—while certain powers fight to remain the only superior force. Then the Speaker turns the mirror on us: when leaders beg superpowers for protection, what happens to them—and more importantly, what happens to the Muslims they rule over when the “protector” decides they're no longer useful?

Eric King was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after trying to firebomb a government building with Molotov cocktails, but the real story is what happened once the cell door slammed shut. In this episode, he breaks down how a politically motivated arson case turned into nearly 8 years in solitary confinement, brutal clashes with staff, and a fast-track transfer into America's most notorious federal supermax, ADX. From the mindset it takes to target the government, to the moment he realized he might never see general population again, Eric gives an unfiltered look at control units, isolation, and life in a place built to break you. If you've ever wondered what actually happens to “the worst of the worst” once they disappear into the federal system, this conversation is your inside look at the cost of that choice. _____________________________________________ #ianbick #prisonlife #truecrime#prisonstories #inmatelife #jailstories #justicesystem #worstprisons _____________________________________________ Buy Eric King's Book: https://pmpress.org/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1872 _____________________________________________ Thank you to AVA for sponsoring this episode: Take control of your credit today. There has been widespread unrest and destruction in Mexico following the capture and killing of the notorious drug lord known as 'El Mencho'. One of Mexico's most powerful cartels set fires, destroyed vehicles and fought with authorities across the country in response to the kingpin's death. The retaliation has seen dozens killed - including several National Guard Troops - while tourists have been told to shelter in place amid the wave of violence. Correspondent Adam Hancock spoke to Lisa Owen from Mexico City.

Comment on the Show by Sending Mark a Text Message. When HR goes quiet after a discrimination or wage complaint, that silence is not a mistake—it's a strategy. We unpack how to flip that tactic on its head by turning every unanswered email, hallway brush-off, and delayed “update” into a clean, credible record that strengthens your legal footing and protects your career. From defining protected activity to spotting classic retaliation moves, we walk through the practical steps that shift power back to you.We start with the hard truth: HR is a risk management function, and your complaint introduces risk. That's why documentation is your most reliable ally. You'll learn how to keep a personal log off company systems, capture dates and names, save emails as PDFs, and memorialize verbal conversations with short, professional recaps. Then we set the trap: a calm two-week follow-up that blocks the “slipped through the cracks” excuse and creates a paper trail juries understand. If the silence holds, we climb the internal ladder—handbook channels, hotlines, ombuds—before moving outside the building. When escalation becomes necessary, we break down how to file with the EEOC or your state agency, the typical 180–300 day timelines, and how filings compel a response. We're candid about the realities: this move protects you and also puts a spotlight on you, which is why having an employment attorney in your corner helps you manage risk, pace your steps, and turn negligence into leverage. We also address a costly misstep—resigning too soon. Constructive discharge is hard to prove; a strategic severance based on documented failures is often smarter and faster than a long court fight. You'll walk away with a practical plan: document relentlessly, follow up with precision, use every internal channel, file when needed, and preserve your leverage for resolution. If HR is ignoring you right now, you have more power than you think—you just need to use it well. If this helped, subscribe, share with a coworker who needs it, and leave a quick review to help others find the show. Comment on the Show by Sending Mark a Text Message. What would you do if your career was at stake, and your integrity was challenged by the very system you worked for? In this gripping episode of Employee Survival Guide®, Mark Carey unravels the whistleblowing legal saga of Trevor Murray, a strategist at UBS who faced a harrowing integrity dilemma in the cutthroat world of Wall Street. As the pressure mounted to alter his research reports to benefit the trading desk, Murray found himself at a crossroads, ultimately choosing whistleblowing on unethical practices that threatened not just his job, but the very fabric of corporate integrity. This episode takes you on a deep dive into the murky waters of employment law, focusing on pivotal legislation such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the Dodd-Frank Act. Over an arduous 14-year journey through various legal battles, Murray's case culminated in a landmark Supreme Court decision that redefined whistleblowing, clarifying that the intent to retaliate does not need to be proven for a case to hold water. But as we celebrate this legal victory, we must also confront the harsh realities faced by whistleblowers. Are the protections offered by the law truly effective, or do they merely exist on paper? Join us as we explore the moral and ethical challenges that arise in a hostile work environment, shedding light on critical issues like employee rights, retaliation, and workplace discrimination. Murray's story raises vital questions about the culture of silence that often pervades corporate America, and the toll that such battles can take on individuals' lives and careers. Through this lens, we examine the broader implications of employment law issues, from severance negotiations to performance improvement plans, and the importance of employee advocacy in navigating workplace dynamics. Whether you're an employee grappling with a toxic work culture, a manager striving for a healthier workplace, or someone interested in the intricacies of employment law, this episode is packed with insights and practical advice. Tune in to gain an understanding of your rights at work, learn how to effectively negotiate employment contracts, and discover strategies for surviving and thriving in the challenging landscape of modern employment.
