Katie Ki, our Chief Operating Officer shares about how her family Is going to be moving to Cambodia to reach young people through education and discipleship. Katie and her husband, Sokion, met In Cambodia lived In Cambodia after college, teaching English. Katie has been on staff at Crossroads Kids Club for almost four years. Meet Steve Zoller. Steve is a member of the board of directors of Crossroads. Before retiring, he was a partner at Zoller, Swanson and Company, a CPA firm in Oak Park, Illinois. Steve loves the Lord and loves people, and if you spend five minutes with him, you will see this come through very clearly. He is passionate about encouraging generosity among God's people. He often says, the first question God will ask us is when we see him is What did you do with my Son? And the second question is What did you do with the stuff I gave you?In addition to serving with Crossroads, Steve is active in a ministry in Rwanda called Africa Shalom. Today, we’re joined by Nicole Thomsen-Coughlin, the executive director of 1Hope. 1Hope is a non-profit organization that strives to bring together churches, businesses, civic groups, and government to unite for collective impact in the Kenosha, Wisconsin, community. 1Hope is a partner organization of Crossroads and we work together to reach the kids in the public schools in their target area.Prior to 1Hope, Nicole was the Executive Director at Downtown Kenosha, Inc. (DKI), where she led local economic development and revitalization efforts for the downtown business district. During Nicole’s time with DKI, she was successful in building and maintaining superior relationships with Downtown businesses, partners, sponsors, donors, civic, and governmental entities. Additionally, she successfully formed volunteer task groups, led fundraising efforts, and executed special project initiatives and campaigns which played a critical role in carrying out the downtown strategic plan. Before Nicole’s time with DKI, she served as a resource specialist with a non-profit tech company in Silicon Valley, One Degree. One Degree helps bridge the way out of poverty for low-income families by providing access to information on social services. In addition to her professional experience, Nicole serves as a volunteer leader at Brass Elementary School for Crossroads Kids’ Club.Nicole earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. During her time at UW-Parkside, she had the opportunity to compete in the Russ Berrie National Sales Competition, taking 1stplace in role plays and 3rd overall. Before studying business, Nicole was enrolled for three years in a nursing program and worked as an OB Tech at the Columbia Center Birth Hospital where she assisted patients in the delivery room. She also worked at Froedtert Hospital in the Community Engagement department helping to address and meet the health, educational, and social needs of the community.Nicole is a native to Kenosha, where she and her husband currently reside. For over seven years, Pastors Raúl and Elizabeth de la Matta have worked together with Crossroads to reach children at McKinley School in Elgin, Illinois. They have demonstrated a strong commitment to evangelism and discipleship. Pastor Raúl is a man sent by God with a bold message that will challenge you, impact you and open your eyes to see your need for change. In 2001, he responded to the call of God upon his life to build a church of faith, power, and glory in Elgin. Mike has led a Crossroads Kids Club in his children's local school since 2018. Link Elementary School Principal Quinn Wulbecker started working in Schaumburg (Illinois) Township School District 54 as a teacher in the Japanese-English Dual Language Program at Dooley Elementary School in 2006. He also taught in the magnet program at Campanelli Elementary School and served as assistant principal at Nerge and Link Schools before assuming his current position. Quinn has also served as the Septemberfest parking coordinator and the Memorial Grant Scholarship chairman and has been a member of the teacher grant selection committee in his district. Joel Harrison has been leading a Crossroads Kids Club in Rockford, Illinois, for six years. Since 2008, Joel has served as the associate ministry at Calvary Christian Church. Joel's passion for God's Word led him to attend Kentucky Christian University where he majored in youth and family ministry. After graduating, he was ordained and has been working in full-time youth ministry ever since.Though this is not an easy world to live in—with many broken homes and an almost constant threat of violence—Joel's desire is to help youth see the peace and healing that only Jesus can bring to their lives.Joel married a preacher's daughter, Cathy McConnell.
