The Federal Aviation Administration in the US has said that if the government shutdown continues, it will cut air traffic by ten per-cent across forty busy airports from Friday, in order to maintain safety. Air traffic controllers have been working without pay for more than a month and some of them are now calling in sick. The Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy, insists air travel is still safe, and the decision to cancel the flights is being made to ensure efficiency. Sumichrast's Wren and Nava's Wren are both sooty-brown songbirds of southern Mexico. They both live in tropical forests where limestone outcrops provide a natural amphitheatre to show off their vocal feats. Yet the two have very different songs and are never found in the same place. President Trump and President Xi,  the two most powerful men in the world, met last week in Korea to try to, basically, calm things down.  China had just flexed its muscles, threatening to limit the export of key inputs like rare earth magnets and other critical minerals without which auto assembly plants in America could, within weeks, come to a standstill. America could inflict its own damage, by widening the net of sanctions on Chinese companies and individuals. Looking at the images on the TV screen, I began to wonder: In what areas are America and China still in agreement? Taiwan? No. South China Sea? No. Russia? No. Chips? No. Trade. A big no. That got me thinking about what lies ahead. To bring clarity and wisdom, I welcome Jorge Guajardo, former ambassador of Mexico to China to the show to ask him some fundamental questions: Since the US and China seem to have different values, different priorities and different regulations, can they ever see eye to eye? Who is decoupling more quickly, the United States or China. And how will Mexico play its cards as it finds itself squeezed between China and the United States with the car industry, investments and jobs looming large.

"Draft Week" continues on this Wednesday episode as Andy, Brendan, and PJ pick their favorite PGA Tour events of 2025. Speaking of draft picks, the show kicks off with Andy immediately having PJ answer for an explosive trade deadline for the 1-7 Jets. The Jets choosing to stockpile future draft picks rather than have actually good players on the current roster is quickly tied into golf and the constant need to find "who's next." Michael Brennan could be "next," and he's back in action this week as the PGA Tour heads to Mexico for the Worldwide Technologies Championship. Andy and Brendan briefly discuss the field for the event, including Brennan, Ben Griffin, and U.S. Open champ J.J. Spaun. The DP World Tour playoffs begin this week with Rory, Tommy, and more teeing it up at Yas Links for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. Brendan mentions the event's defending champion, Paul Waring, which leads to a guessing game on Waring's 2025 PGA Tour earnings. There was some real, substantial golf news on Wednesday afternoon as it was announced that LIV Golf will begin playing 72-hole tournaments in 2026. Andy and Brendan find great humor in the fact that this is being spun as "innovation" and the next phase of growing the game, despite now being the same as the PGA Tour. They discuss whether the top players will start to separate themselves even more given another 18 holes at every event, and also mention some new trademarks filed by the league for potential team names. The back half of this episode contains a bit of a Year in Review appetizer in the form of a Best 2025 Events Draft. Bryan compares his victory to a "virus of humanity" spreading nationwide, warning that socialism's false promise of "free for all" could gain traction if Republicans fail to deliver economic results. Trump Pushes to End the Filibuster: President Trump renewed his call to eliminate the Senate filibuster after the Democratic sweep, urging Republicans to "terminate it" to pass voter reform and economic bills. Bryan argues that fears of Democrats abusing power later are misplaced — "that horse has already left the barn." Shutdown Nearing Resolution: Ten Democrat senators are now willing to negotiate a deal to reopen the government, marking the longest shutdown in U.S. history. A federal appeals court has ordered Judge Aileen Cannon to stop delaying the release of former special prosecutor Jack Smith's report on Donald Trump's theft of classified documents after months of delaying the release. The Appeals Court found that Cannon had absolutely no valid reason for delaying the release of the report, and they strongly suggested that it was just a feeble attempt to protect the man who put her in power - and who may end up putting her on the Supreme Court some day.Donald Trump keeps insisting that he has "handled" inflation and that prices for consumers are going down, but reality shows the exact opposite happening. The situation has gotten so bad that even his own administration can't lie about it anymore, and the Treasury Department admitted publicly this week that inflation is remaining "above target." That's a fancy way to say that Trump is failing at everything having to do with economics (and everything NOT involving economics.) The Trump administration is in the process of actively training American military personnel for a ground invasion of Mexico. The administration claims that they are going to be going after the cartels, but that's a flimsy pretext for launching a war against our neighboring country. This administration is absolutely pushing the limits of what is tolerable for the American public, and invading our closest geographical ally is likely not going to be the polling boom that Trump believes it will be. Transportation Secretary and former reality show contestant Sean Duffy threw an absolute temper tantrum this week and threatened to shut down ALL of the airspace over America. This little twit who knows nothing about his job is angry over the ongoing government shutdown, and he wants to take out his rage on Americans who wish to travel this holiday season.
