After way too much time away from the greatest game, I'm back! Michael Carbone joins me to chat about the North American Rugby League, as well as the USARL, CCRL, CRL ands much more.

For 40 years a group of men have pulled on a uniform which carries more than the weight of its fibers. It carries childhood memories, pride, victories and defeats. The men inside the shirt are sports legends, Queensland heroes and most importantly, human. They have stories of successes and shortcomings to tell. In every struggle for the extra meter or hard hit on an opponent they are telling a story in a fierce way. My guest for this episode, Robert Burgin, has captured that history for you in his latest book, Maroon Mentality. Join me in being fascinated by how Rob managed to capture the men inside the Maroon.
COVID-19 thought it could stop rugby league here in the USA, so I put up two middle fingers, got you the fans to vote and tried to make the best of it. The White Plains Wombats took on the Tampa Mayhem in the 2020 USARL COVID Cup! This one was an absolute blast to do. Enjoy!
The USARL season may be cancelled but don't tell the NOVA Eagles, who are North America's only undefeated team in 2020! Shoutout to all the boys who played in the 34-12 match this past weekend between the Northern Virginia Eagles and Delaware Black Foxes.
The USARL domestic season is back! Sort of. Not really. But it is. I've decided to give away some swag, keep the boys in high spirits and have some fun with you the fans! Tune in to this one!
I like to see the good in things, you all know that about me. So...thank you COVID-19 for helping the Toronto Wolfpack have the opportunity to jumpstart the North American Rugby League here on our continent. Guess what, it involves Ottawa and New York, plus a few other spots here in America!
Someone asked me the other day on Instagram what the most fun I've had so far on the podcast has been. Well, here goes nothing...

Myself & Michael Carbone co-host Dean Buchan & Orazio D'arro, who are part of the edgy & exciting new Euro XIII's! This is the new league being established in 202 that will revolutionize the game we all love so much!
From Parra to Sheffield, this AmeriCAN is one of my favorite to wear the Red, White and Blue! Corey Makelim has been with the Hawks for many years and is just now coming into his prime for the international side. Get to know him while we spend time harassing one of his USA teammates, Kristian Freed.
Mark, from the Super League Pod comes back for part deux(movie reference due to isolation brain)of our post pandemic RFL/SL structuring. This is a look for 2021 & beyond. I truly enjoyed hearing Mark's insights and ideas.

The Wrightman is back! Co-host of the Any Given Monday podcast, coach of the Uruguayan RL National side, coach of Wests Mitchelton, footy mind extraordinaire and my good friend Adam Wright pops in for a chat.
Teddy Grabowski & Nick Youngquest join me on the podcast to talk all things rugby league & so much more. Nick is a former NRL player turned marathon runner, who is dedicated to bringing awareness to charities. Teddy is my broadcasting brother who doubles as a painter of my favorite wildlife. Enjoy!
The author of our fantastic AmeriCAN rugby league history book, No Helmets Required, Gavin Willacy joins the show. We cover the globe talking all things rugby league. As always, Gavin is a quality guest and a quality guy.
Blake Wallace is one of the staples of the Toronto Wolfpack back line. He's a fan favorite of the big city after growing up in the small town of Dapto, NSW. He's the dagger with swagger & maybe someday he'll run for mayor of Toronto.
I got bored, Mark got bored, we had some drinks. You're welcome! Be warned that I am on a frantic ledge without the game going & Mark had to talk me down. We need your feedback.
Get ready to hear from my favorite Australian who is a rugby league tragic and an actor and writer. Johnny Manning grew up in North Queensland and gave his all on the pitch for the Cowboys for seven years. Now he pours his passion into the world of cinema as well as the LA Mongrel, who last year debuted in the California Rugby League.
In the middle of a different time than ever before we have an ability to make the game better than ever before. It can be positive in its outward approach for the first time in its history & weather the storm to see the sun shining afterwards. Also, I'd like to own a team someday.
Shout outs galore to so many within the rugby league family. My mom & Marc join the show while we're all hidden inside away from the flu.
The Challenge Cup draw is coming to the Big Apple!!! That plus a bounce around North America to chat about the latest happenings in rugby league. Yes, that includes the Ottawa Aces!
My guy Oliver is back on the show to help me preview the 2020 NRL season. The young gun & me sort of agree but not completely. For all you movie buffs out there..."Well that's your opinion, man".
We have some serious talent here in America but at the moment we aren't where we need to be. This is the way I'd develop them, after drinking four whiskeys. AmeriCAN!!!
James Simpson is many things. He is a player for both Leeds Rhinos & England. He is a Rugby League World Cup Ambassador for the 2021 tournament & he is also Prince Harry's hero & favorite ginger. How did he earn all of these titles & accolades? Because he found the game of Wheelchair Rugby League after recovering from wounds sustained in Afghanistan that left him without his legs. The quality of man he is & his dedication to hard work brought him through the two years of recovery. Now he is representing his country, city and sport on the grandest of scales. Enjoy listening to James' positivity & love for rugby league in what was easily one of my favorite discussions I've ever had on the podcast.
This was one of my favorite ones I've ever done! Politics are pushed aside to choose my favorite team made up of Presidents. By the time I uploaded this one I'd already received tons of hateful messages about who the squad was that I chose. Wow, just wow!
Latin America will be represented in the 2021 Rugby League World Cup by the women of Brasil. The man who took the first footy steps into Latin America was Robert Burgin & he's back to chat all things rugby league.

Happy Aussie Day!!! Everyone asks me about whether an American could make it in the NRL. Maybe? But how does it work for more than just a "one hit wonder"? Here's my uneducated (somewhat boring) thoughts o how it can happen.
Samoa versus Tonga, Sonny Bill versus Tamaulolo. Let's make it happen!
One of my favorite things related to having a podcast is that I try to focus on it being a fan based show. This one is certainly done in that spirit, with a history lesson about three proud & historic rugby league clubs. Paul Doherty & Mick Fairleigh wrote a phenomenal book on the three clubs; South End, Maitland and South Sydney & takes time to speak about it with me.
This one covers a ton of topics because as usual all of you threw out great questions for me to chat about. The popcorn was tasty, the whiskey was tastier but the rugby league chatter was the tastiest!
Starting in 2020 America will finally have awards given out to the absolute best rugby league players, also known as AmeriCANs. The best USA eligible player will be awarded the Patriot of League Award & the best domestic player will win the Lucius Banks Award. This episode gives you the inside track on the names I'm coming out of the gate with. Get ready, 2020 is going to be a wild ride!
We all seem to wonder when rugby league will start to grow bigger. Maybe it's better the way it is, at the professional level. Let's have some fun with it with a special guest. Happy New Years to all of you!
It's a time of cheer with family & friends. That's you! Merry Christmas to everyone who has taken time to tune in this year.

This episode is a tribute to the greatest man I've ever known, my papa. Earl Harris, October 13, 1935-November 16, 2019. Cheers to the Tampa Mayhem...
