Wests Tigers have announced boom five-eighth Lachlan Galvin will depart the team at the end of the 2026 season in a major blow for the club's rebuild. Coach Benji Marshall had hoped to build his squad around the 19-year-old star for the next decade, with the Tigers desperate to fend off a host of rivals eager to swoop on the youngster. Danny Weidler reports that Galvin's management had told Shane Richardson that Galvin doesn't believe Benji can get the best out of him as a play. Animosity? I'm sure there would be... Wests Tigers are out to break a seven-game losing streak against the Knights this weekend. After succumbing to the Knights at Campbelltown Stadium by just two points in Round One, Wests Tigers travel to Newcastle on Sunday for revenge. With a fully-fit team warmed up and ready to go, the Wests Tigers need to gain a vitally important two points and end that run out of outs against Newcastle. On this mid-week edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie is in the driver's seat and is joined by Garry, Steve, and Nick. Naturally, there's a preview of the Knights game, with some interesting predictions for the Newcastle game thrown around. Back to School Time. Eddie also connects with his inner school teacher and asks the boys to give their quarterly Wests Tigers report card. After five weeks of football, how are the Wests Tigers tracking? Who has been our surprise player? Who has underwhelmed? What’s the best thing about the current side? There's also a bit of internal judgement too, with Eddie locking horns with what he calls the “three fairies” of the Wests Tigers Podcast! The Future of Campbelltown Stadium? The boys sink their teeth into Shane Richardson's strategy in regards to a potential $50 million upgrade of Campbelltown Stadium. Threatening to pull games from the Macarthur region unless the local Council finds the funds for that upgrade, we forecast how this might all turn out. Will the upgrade happen? And how crucial is it to the future of the Wests Tigers? Listen in for our take on this unfolding issue. Nick takes on the role of Quiz Master again for Yioti's quiz, and there's a reminder about the Ambush event on this Sunday afternoon at Wests Ashfield. The Tip Sheet looks at what the boys have been up to ranging from gardening, landscaping and bricklaying to maintenance work at Parramatta Leagues Club. It has been a busy work elsewhere for the Eels as Sixties, Forty20 and Clint look at a raft of retentions and signings as the club bolsters the NRL, NRLW and beyond. Who are the big winners and losers from the 2025 NRL draw? Where do the Eels stand after years of brutal scheduling? In other NRL news, Shane Richardson has boldly declared that the Tigers have both the best spine and best backup spine in the NRL. How close to the mark is he? Ben Hunt has landed at the Broncos but where does he fit once everyone is available? There will be another edition of the podcast next week where we wrap up the survey results. Some of the questions and results that we look at on this show include: Are you planning on being a Wests Tigers Member in 2025? The Wests Tigers are heading in the right direction? CEO Shane Richardson is a doing a good job at our club? Holman Barnes Group should sell their stake in Wests Tigers? Have you considered NOT being a Wests Tigers fan in recent years? John Bateman should be paid out/released by Wests Tigers ASAP? We really appreciate all the survey responses that you guys provided to us and it's a very interesting exercise looking at your opinions around our club.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Another very disappointing weekend for the Wests Tigers with the side falling well short against the Dragons. That's despite a quite promising start to the game by our guys. But what's come following that Friday night game has been an even more difficult pill to swallow - the reports that two of our best young players want out of the club. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes, Eddie Otto, and Garry Watson discuss the situation around the future of Lachlan Galvin. Should we be concerned? Is this a Tedesco and Moses situation all over again? Or will Shane Richardson be able to manage the situation? There's also a look at the coach. We hate to see it, but Benji Marshall is increasingly falling under the spotlight as the team records loss after loss. But is Benji actually doing enough work? And what does it look like if we put more support around him? And we bring also you all the one-word responses to Friday night's game against the Dragons from members of the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Wests Tigers have gone down to the Cowboys in Townsville to mark the side's eighth consecutive loss. But despite the 42-28 loss, are there some real signs of life starting to emerge in this team? Joel Helmes is joined by Eddie Otto, Garry Watson, and Steve Stretton to look at the green shoots that might be starting to show. But it isn't all sunshine and rainbows (as you might expect after eight losses!), there's also a look at the not-so-good aspects of Friday night's performance. There's a whole stack of one-word submissions from the members of the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum too. The boys take a look at the omission of Api Korisau and Stefano Utoikamanu from the first NSW State of Origin side. Ask the question, should the Wests Tigers look at appointing an experienced coach to assist Benji Marshall in 2025 and beyond? Try to work out the real target for CEO Shane Richardson's trip to the UK. And there's discussion around the potential call-up of young Tiger's prop, Jordan Miller.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The other news from today was Shane Richardson flying out for England to try and move some of the current roster to open up roster spots and salary cap for season 2025. Another round of buy, sell or hold is on the Agenda, what curveballs does Eddie have for Declan and Garry this week. The Wests Tigers Podcast is back for another post-game edition, once again we're discussing a defeat. Joel Helmes is joined by Eddie Otto and Garry Watson for a look back at the game against the Newcastle Knight in Tamworth. As usual, there's a heap of One Word descriptions submitted by our fellow fans for that Knights game that we run through, including our own. We're doing pretty well with our defense (with a few exceptions) but attack and point scoring remains the Wests Tigers' Achilles heel in 2024 (again!). We take a look at the Tigers attack on this edition of the pod, including a look at how Isaiah Papalli went in his new position of Lock. There's an analysis of the Jayden Sullivan performance, and naturally Brent Naden gets put under the microscope too. And Joel, Garry and Eddie give their thoughts on the Member's email sent by the CEO of Wests Tigers, Shane Richardson. We're on a six-game losing streak but there's still a bit of room for some fun on this big edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast. Ohh and if you're wondering where Joel went mid-show - we can blame that on an electricity Blackout!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Another big game at Campbelltown Stadium before a packed house, unfortunately the same result. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast we take a good look at Saturday night's game against the Broncos. We finished on the wrong side of the scoreboard, but were there any positives? We also take a look at some of the ongoing issues we seem to have with the Wests Tigers 2024 squad. And there are heaps of one word submissions from members of the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. Joel Helmes is in the driver's seat for this pod, joined by Garry Watson and Eddie Otto. Speaking of Eddie, standby for a rant on a player that seems to have plateaued in recent times. The boys also talk about the signing of Penrith flyer, Sunia Turuva late last week. What the Fijian winger bring to the team in 2025 and beyond and why we should be excited by his arrival. There's also a look at rumours the Wests Tigers will be audited by the NRL, and what the four year contract for CEO Shane Richardson means for the future of the club. It's another jam packed edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, enjoy!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Wests Tigers made a couple of big signings in the past week. They have landed gun Penrith winger Sunia Turuva but perhaps even more importantly experienced NRL administrator Shane Richardson signed a 4 year deal. The Tigers have endured plenty of turmoil on and off the pitch in recent seasons but are looking for more stability. He told Andrew Moore and the team he thinks they've turned the corner and that he's confident more players want to be at the club with a brighter future ahead (including Stefano Utoikamanu!)

Wests Tigers Bonus Episode Gary Barnier Interview. On this special bonus edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Garry Watson and Steve Stretton are joined by Gary Barnier, one of the two people responsible for conducting the review that led to massive changes at the Wests Tigers. In a wide-ranging discussion Gary takes us through his role into the review, how the review came about, the process that was involved in conducting the review and the presentation and acceptance from the Holman Barnes Group. The discussion then turns to the implementation of the review, the role Shane Richardson is playing as CEO and finally any roadblocks that have the potential to cause the club to slip backwards in the process already made. Finally, the guys discuss the recent changes at board level in the Holman Barnes Group and if those changes have any chance of effecting the direction of the club and the implementation of the review's recommendations. What does the new chair of the Holman Barnes Group need to do to ensure the stability of the Wests Tigers? Eddie and the boys will return later in the week for our regular midweek game preview, but we hope you enjoy this special bonus episode of the Wests Tigers Podcast.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Wow! What a fantastic performance from the Wests Tigers at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday night! After a mostly disappointing performance to start the season against the Raiders, Wests Tigers found a whole other gear and blew the high-flying Sharks away. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes is in the host's chair and is joined by Steve Stretton, Declan McCutcheon, and Garry Watson. We discuss the many strong individual displays in a performance that gives us all some hope that this team is just about to finally turn the corner (or maybe it already has?). What does the win mean for the team line-up moving forward? And what do we make of Benji Marshall's approach to coaching so far? And how do we feel we will go against an impressive Eels side in the big Easter Monday clash this long weekend? There's also coverage of the Shane Richardson interview on the James Graham Podcast, The Bye Round. Our interim CEO has had some interesting things to say in regards to the Wests Tigers home ground strategy and the other important decisions and goals put forward in a new Strategic Plan set to be released this week. We take a look at what might be about to change in Tiger Town. It's so good to bring you a post-victory edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, we hope you enjoy!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Bugger! Wests Tigers reverted to the team that scooped up consecutive wooden spoons in Saturday night's trial against the Dragons. Despite a mostly much more positive showing the week before in New Zealand, Wests Tigers took to the field in Mudgee with a lack of intensity and got shown up by a side many predict to finish low on the ladder this year. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes is joined by Steve Stretton and Garry Watson for a look at what went wrong. Thank you to our Wests Tigers Podcast Forum members for their many 'One Word' summations of that performance against St.George-Illawarra. We share those contributions on the pod. There's a discussion around the impressive debut of 18-year-old rookie, Lachlan Galvin, and we ask the question - has he done enough to grab an NRL debut in round two? We take a look at the centre and winger issues that seem to be affecting several aspects of how the side plays. Ask, has Alex Seyfarth beaten out Fonua Pole for the lock position? And who do we need to pick in the back row to get some more thrust? Also under the microscope is the revelation by interim CEO Shane Richardson that the claimed Wests Tigers membership numbers are significantly lower in reality.
