In this episode League Freak has a chat with Youtuber Dylan who is the host of The Leaguie. We talk about the unpredictability of the NRL so far in 2025, the true contenters for the Premiership, we touch on why drafts are a terrible idea in Rugby League and how the salary cap is actually working. We then discuss what the NRL should do to help that game in England, and across Europe, the demise of the Toronto Wolfpack, international Rugby League and the World Cup and much, much more. It was great fun having a chat to Dylan. Ryan Brierley joins Will Perry & Kyle Amor on the latest episode of the Out Of Your League podcast. The Salford Red Devils full-back opens up on his dream of always wanting to play professional rugby league, tough times at Huddersfield Giants & Toronto Wolfpack and how it inspired him to become a women's football agent, and his desire to win a trophy with his boyhood club Salford Red Devils.
Last year's grand finalists, Parramatta, have bungled out of the finals race, meanwhile Cronulla and Melbourne solidify a top 8 spot - with 5 teams eligible for the last 3 finals spots, which clubs will qualify?… We also discuss if Manly were robbed against the Warriors with THAT tackle on Garrick, Luke Brooks' farewell BBQ, the resignation of Tim Sheens, the rise of Kalyn Ponga, the fall of Latrell Mitchell, and TPJ's “retirement”. Clarkie also takes a 2-pt lead in the tipping comp, and Dean -vs- Jack in our SuperCoach competition grand final! We then head ‘Around The Grounds' for the Round 22 results of the Super League, the Round 5 NRLW results, the ladder leaders in the NSW Cup, QLD Cup and Championship (UK), Toronto Wolfpack going 2 from 2, and the announcement of the 2023 and 2024 Pacific Championships for the Southern Hemisphere nations! In our fan-favourite ‘Bunker Review Segment', we discuss: if player depth has been affected too much in rugby league, and if James Tedesco deserves to be Australian Kangaroos fullback at the end-of-year Pacific Championships tri-nations. With Manly dropping out of the NRL Finals race and Panthers, Broncos and Warriors the only teams locked in for finals footy, we are left with 8 clubs to fill in five spots for that Top 8 ladder. Meanwhile on the bottom-end of the ladder it looks like the Tigers will be claiming back-2-back wooden spoons… We also discuss the retirements of Wade Graham and Jarrod Croker, the exorbitant contracts for Tino and Fifita, where we think Payne Haas will end up after rejecting $1.2m, the closing of the Eels premiership window, and the long-awaited return of Ryan Papenhuyzen! We then head ‘Around The Grounds' for our analysis of Leigh Leopards' golden point Challenge Cup victory and the rise of their club under Derek Beumont, the Round 4 NRLW results, if Andrew Johns will take over Toa Samoa as head coach, the return of the Toronto Wolfpack, and some ex-NRL players making the Wallabies World Cup squad! In our fan-favourite ‘Bunker Review Segment', the NRL will open the 2024 season in Las Vegas, the CBA finally being settled, and Clarkie tests Tass and Guildy's Clive Churchill Medal knowledge! (P.S. Cal, Ben and Eithan return with Episode 8 of the Rugby League review and bring with them another player guest in the form of Leigh Centurions' legend Ryan Brierley. Wolves are social animals and occasionally a lone wolf will break off from a pack to join another pack or form their own. Unlike wolves, Jon Suckling and Paul Brioux didn't stray from their original pack; they just formed another one within it. Blacktoe Running is a local running store in Toronto owned and operated by Mike and Maya Anderson. Not only do they sell the latest and greatest products, they also do a lot of great work in the running community; giving back to the athletes who make this amazing community. Back Toe Running also offers a run club with a coached program suitable for both beginners and experienced runners. This is where Jon and Paul met; the two were grouped together with other runners who ran similar paces and soon discovered they had similar interests. Very quickly, the pack would expand with the addition of Kyle Stolys, Dan Baggaley, and Alex Desroches. The group of friends wanted to connect with the running community in different ways, while continuing to run with the Black toe Run Club, so they established the Toronto Wolfpack Run Club. In their relatively short existence, the Wolfpack is leaving their mark (pun intended) in the running community through their hilarious instagram account, their dominating results in virtual races, and time trials and, just like wolves, this group of friends show how collaboration, sharing knowledge, and their special bond can bring out the best in themselves and each other.
