Learning to live from God\'s perspective on reality.
Gerry and Doug discuss how seers and those who love them should think about to the spiritual things seers see... and most other parts of life as well. It starts with an understanding about the Kingdom of God, their identity as "the image of God", the inhabitants of the Domain of Darkness and their conflict with the Kingdom. Here is the companion article: Kingdom of God Mindset Scholarly discussion about the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God can be found here.
We read and respond to a very complicated and theological email that covers the gamut of amnesia, Calvinism, and Arminiasm. The conversation continues on to a discussion about God's role in choosing a spouse, our identity, God's trust in us, and our trust in God. Music in this episode includes: Sun, by Jason Callahan. "Now concerning spiritual gifts," begins 1 Corinthians 12:1 in most English translations. Except that's not what the passage actually says. We begin by looking at the contention between cessationists and charismatics, and why the modern conversation regarding spiritual gifts is often... misguided. One year ago, I was recovering from my kidney donation surgery. I was also contemplating what happened from a spiritual point of view. Hear the full story of my kidney donation, and then let's examine it from the perspective of spiritual warfare.

We start discussing what the Kingdom of God is. Properly understanding the Kingdom is central to understanding why some people see spirits and experience other paranormal activity, the purpose and use of spiritual gifts, and the battle between good and evil. There is much confusion about the Kingdom, so let's jump right in! Features the following music all available at YouTube: "In the Beginning" from the movie Son of God. In this brief episode, I give an epicly short overview of the Old Testament from the call to Abraham to the Exile. This all part of laying down the framework to understand the context of cosmic struggle between good and evil today.
After a brief discussion of biblical translations, I again examine the repercussions of the Tower of Babel incident, and how that set up the "Domain of Darkness." This sets up a multi-episode look at the Kingdom of God. Additional songs clips in this episode include, Mozart's Piano Concerto #21 in C, K 467, "Elvira Madigan"Richard Wagner's "Die Walkure-Nilsson", Vickers, London: Leinsdorf, 1962."Our God Reigns" with Martin Smith, by Jesus Culture, Live in New York, 2012."Our God", Chris Tomlin, 2010. In this episode, I discuss just what a worldview is, and offer some thoughts on Jesus' mission to reshape the worldview of his audience. Your worldview works subconsciously, helping you interpret reality by filtering your perceptions. Worldviews force us to ignore certain possibilities while accepting only others. For instance, scientific naturalism holds there is no spirit realm and certainly no supernatural (divine) intervention in the material world. Whereas other perspectives, such as Christianity, not only holds the existence of God separate from reality, but that God and other spirits can and do intervene in it. We'll discuss these and other concepts in this episode. Be sure to check out the longer articles on this topic available at the Seers See website:Seers See Worldview Page.
What happens when a Paranormal Investigation gets out of hand? In one situation, the investigators call for a couple of Christians to come and help. You'll never guess what happened when they arrived... which led Amy to discover her Decapolis. My wife Amy teaches from a passage in Mark, illustrating her point with an opening real-life account... Is there biblical precedent for engaging spiritual powers in a secularized society? Did Jesus ever visit a society like the modern America and engage spiritual forces? And finally her question for you is... What is your Decapolis?
My pastor asked me preach at our local church as he was out of town for the weekend. We have been working through the book of James in a message series called "Life Apps: Living Jesus Every Day," using a metaphor of smart phone apps to illustrate living as Christians. My passage was from James 3:1-12, regarding the tongue, especially, "How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell... With it, we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God... My brothers, this ought not to be."Some people have asked me to upload it, so I thought I'd release it as a podcast. YES, I'm wearing a pink shirt! The reason why becomes clear in the message. Please note: I cite Judges Chapter 10, but the actual passage is in Judges Chapter 11. Thanks for listening!
I talk about Worldviews and illustrate my point through a healing prayer story. Then I begin an overview of the entire story of the Bible, from this perspective of God being good, light and love, as well as truth, holy, and sovereign. How could Jesus view God as good, when he destroyed the world in Noah's flood? I discuss it because Jesus is the exact likeness of God's being, so it's best to change our perspective on things to match Jesus'. This version has a postscript with an apology.
What's your sign? This is really 3 messages blended into one podcast. 0:00: Discusses what astrology and horoscopes are and explores the sociological impact when a society embraces horoscopes, however superficially, for generations, from the perspective of social theorist Theodore Adorno (from the materialist worldview).27:30: Explores God's perspective when people embrace horoscopes, however superficially.50:10. Compares horoscopes and astrology as the counterfeit attempt to the true gift of prophecy. You'll hear additional thoughts regarding how the sovereignty of God works, especially with respect to Israel and the other nations in the ancient world. This was recorded before the first two podcasts though. Visit my YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/user/seersseeVisit my website at www.SeersSee.com and subscribe to the blog.
I continue the discussion about God's sovereignty and God's goodness. Do all things happen for a reason? Does God make people sick? Does he actually allow bad things to happen? This leads to a discussion about God's purpose for creating humans. Once you start to get how Jesus understood God's sovereignty and the role of humans on the earth, you can start to see the world like Jesus did.
If God is good and if God is sovereign, then why does he take things away from us? Why does he let bad things happen? Does everything really happen for a reason? In this introductory episode, Doug explains the purpose of the Seers See podcast and lands on a discussion about the problems with building a theology around the verse that says, "The LORD giveth and the LORD taketh away." The purpose of the Seers See podcast is to see the world around us the way God sees it, and develop a worldview from that perspective from which to live. And to start things off, we need a clear picture of just who God is.
