Do you have a tendency to take a bit too much credit for your success while overlooking God's blessing in your life? Even with the best of intentions, the human heart always defaults toward pride. Beginning in Judges Chapter 8, we see how Gideon's victory as a warrior began to inflate his ego. Rather than giving glory to God, he chose to act like a king who deserved special treatment. In a real sense, Gideon manufactured his own “broken savior.”
Join Roger Morris as he dives into the spiritual concepts of 'harvest' and 'plunder,' urging you to embrace the double portion that God has in store. He provides key insights on aligning your life with God's will, the power of obedience, and the significance of your divine assignment. Ending with a heartfelt call to accept Jesus Christ, Roger offers a pathway to living an extraordinary life in alignment with God's kingdom. We start with Gideon. We think we know the story, but as Scott and Don learn, there is so much more to the man. And in some cases, so much less.
Join us at Ninth Avenue Church in Haleyville, Alabama, as we continue our exploration of Gideon's transformative journey from feeling insignificant to becoming a mighty warrior for God. In this compelling episode, we delve into the trials and triumphs that shape Gideon's faith, revealing powerful lessons for our own spiritual journeys. Last week, we began this journey by examining Gideon's initial doubts and insecurities. Despite his self-perception as the least important, an angel of the Lord called him a mighty warrior. Today, we pick up the story in Judges Chapter 7, where Gideon faces the daunting task of leading an army against the Midianites. With God's guidance, Gideon's small band of 300 men secures an unlikely victory, teaching us that our triumphs are assured by God even before we attain them. Through this narrative, discover how true peace is achieved through victories guided by faith, and be inspired to claim your own title as a mighty warrior in God's kingdom. Whether you're in the midst of your own challenges or supporting others in their faith journey, this episode offers valuable insights and encouragement. Fast Forward to the 15 minute mark to avoid the banter. Some content of this book might not be suitable for all audiences. There are a lot of descriptions of violence, sex, and what one might call "bathroom humor". While we try our best to handle this with tact, there might be some things that require listener discretion! Deborah writes a victory song with some pretty deep lyrics. Oh, and we are now recommended by a couple of colleges :-)

Are you ready to experience divine overflow in 2024?
We took a look at Mary the Mother of Christ trying to discover some new things about her that people might not know; eg. the meaning of her name. She was actually called Mirriam - the same name as the sister of Moses and the name means bitter. We looked at the Waters of Marah Story and the waters were called Marah because they were bitter. Moses was commanded to throw a piece of wood/or tree in some translations into the waters and they were cured of their bitterness. This foreshadows how the cross of Calvary can make a bitter poison dead heart and make it new. Mirriam the sister of Moses was born into the bitterness of slavery and was delivered into freedom. Mary the Mother of Christ was promised by Simeon that she would have the bitter experience of a sword piercing her heart and yet her obedience in giving birth to Christ would bring millions out of the bitterness of slavery to sin. We then looked at the fact that there are two women in Scripture - that it was said of them: "Blessed are you above Women!" The second woman is well known and the story is told at Christmas time every year when Mary is hailed as Blessed among women. The first however is quite surprising. It was Jael from Judges Chapter 4. She is called blessed among women for driving a tent peg through the head of Sisera, the general of the enemy Army that was attacking and oppressing Israel. that is a very strange pairing in Scripture Mary and Jael. What do they have in common? Why would they both be called Blessed Among Women! Mary gave birth to the one who would fulfil the prophecy of Genesis 3:15 that the seed of the woman would crush the serpent's head. Sisera, Goliath, Jezebel as seeds or offspring of the serpent will have their heads crushed and the stories of the defeat of these villains foreshadow and then culminate in Christ utterly defeating all his enemies including death itself. Even the future beast from the sea, the Anti-Christ or Instead of Christ will suffer a seemingly fatal head wound that he recovers from in an instead of resurrection. Of course when Christ returns the beast and false prophet and ultimately Satan are thrown into the lake of fire. The pairing of Mary and Jael in Scripture is what Christmas Head Crackers was about!

Today's episode of One Single Story podcast is on Judges and is all about “Deterioration and Deliverance.” Pastors Stephen Mizell, Chris Rexroad and Zack Unkenholz look at the theological and practical applications of the book of Judges, focusing on chapter 11. In this chapter, we see the foolish vow of Jephthah. * Does God still choose some people over others? * Does God want land conquered in His Name? * Does the Spirit of the Lord come upon us for physical battles? * How do our parents set the stage for how we will be treated in life? * How difficult is it to help people who previously opposed you? * Why do we ignore or disdain certain people until we need them? * What happens when we get into an argument about whose God is better or bigger? * What other than his wife or daughter could possibly have come out of his house that Jephthah would consider offering to God?
