The subject of spiritual gifts is a mystery to many people, even some Christians. Some deny such gifts exist at all, and others admit they may exist but believe that if they do they must beiong to only a few very special people. They assume normal Christians can't expect spiritual gifts to be a part of their everyday lives. Yet, the Bible teaches something very different. It tells us every Christian has been given the Holy Spirit to live inside them , and since He is the Source of all spiritual gifts, believers should expect to receive His supernatural help whenever they need it. Pastor Travis helps us understand that every believer has been given a spiritual gift by the Holy Spirit, not something earned, but a grace-gift meant to be used for the good of the body of Christ and the glory of Christ!

After learning how to walk worthy in the previous two weeks, we now pivot to spiritual gifts and how they are distributed throughout the body of Christ (his church). In this sermon Pastor Chris goes over the 5-fold gifts given to the church- Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Shepherd, and Teacher, and how these gifts all contribute to the maturity of the body by edifying in love to one another. In Ephesians 4:7-10, we see that the risen and victorious king Jesus is now blessing his church with an abundance of spiritual gifts, and in verse 8 Paul even quotes Psalm 68 as something that pointed to this very reality. Now despite all the controversy about spiritual gifts, as well as the many ways they are misunderstood today, one thing we do see here is that spiritual gifts are essential for the life and ministry of the church.
