After Adam tells of his travails in the Texas winter storm and ensuing power outages, the Munchie Boys get down to business, reckoning with the ghost of series past while persevering through an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit featuring a robot child mimicking human emotion stuck in the strangest of custody battles in “Stolen” (S3E3). While dealing with a bonafide Cragenisode courtesy of his former partner Max Greevey's cold case getting tossed in the microwave, Adam and Josh also dive into post-9/11 SVU credits, do some height detective work, walk the Appalachian Trail with Mark Sanford, and unearth a fictional Juris Doctor degree. Former Governor Mark Sanford has officially entered the race for South Carolina's 1st Congressional District.
While Senator Lindsey Graham faces criticism for vacationing at Disney World instead of working, South Carolina's political landscape is shifting with Mark Sanford officially entering the race for the 1st Congressional District. Meanwhile, despite the massive scale of the "No Kings" rallies, local media has offered celebratory coverage without asking critical questions, even as the movement sparks a broader debate over the unique rights and responsibilities tied to U.S. citizenship.
Politics remains an inherently unpredictable and often bizarre arena, driven by a cast of strange characters whose motivations rarely align with those of the average citizen. This eccentricity is on full display when elected officials like Senator Lindsey Graham prioritize Disney World vacations over urgent legislative duties, or when seasoned figures like Mark Sanford attempt political resurrections. The resulting landscape is a confusing mix of theatrical rallies and unchecked media praise, proving that the world of power operates on a logic all its own, where personal ambition often outweighs public service.
The March 30, 2026, edition of The Charlie James Show centered on the massive, well-funded "No Kings" rallies, critiquing the media's uncritical praise of the movement and its exposure of an "unreasonable" Democrat philosophy. The program balanced this with sharp rebukes of established politicians, questioning Lindsey Graham's fitness for office following a Disney World vacation and discussing Mark Sanford's congressional bid. Finally, the show tackled cultural and international flashpoints, including the United Methodist Church's support for gender surgeries for minors and the bizarre geopolitical tension surrounding Somaliland's interest in extraditing Ilhan Omar.
00:02 The left is rooting against America. And that's their, oh my gosh, they're not even hiding that fact anymore. And that is a fact. They're not even hiding it anymore. Once it is Scott Jennings over on CNN, listen to this. I don't understand your vibe. We're at war with people who have been at war with the Western civilization for 47 years. And you appear to me to be, you know, sort of cheering against American success. I hate to break it to you, but for 47 years. 00:31 They have killed American troops, maimed American personnel, waged war on the civilized world. They have missiles, they have drones, and they told our own negotiators they have a material for 11 nuclear bombs. Does this not seem imminent to you? This is a false choice, Scott. push. You can be against Iran, all the terrorism they support. You can be against Maduro and toppling them. You just don't want to do anything about it. Let me finish. me finish. That, you know who that is? Do you know who that guy is that's talking on CNN right now? 01:02 That is former South Carolina congressman from the first congressional district, Joe Cunningham. That's Joe Cunningham. 01:13 Yeah, that's the guy that beat Katie Arrington with the help of Mark Sanford, by the way, with a lot of help from Mark Sanford to win the first congressional district. Thankfully, he was only a one term congressman. Ooh, thankfully. But they are, they're rooting against America right now. Everybody over on the left. Oh, no, let me explain myself. You got nothing to explain because now I want you to take you over to MSNBC. 01:42 because we just had a former national guardsman show up at Old Dominion, shoot three people, killed one. 01:51 We find out that this guy, his name was uh Muhammad Jallow. 02:00 former Army National Guardsmen arrested in 2016 for providing material support to ISIS. A naturalized US citizen from Sierra Leone traveled overseas multiple times attempting to join ISIS. He was convicted in federal court and released from federal prison in 2024. Guy should have been in Guantanamo Bay. He should have been denaturalized. Then we got the vehicle that was 02:31 the Temple Israel Synagogue that's registered to a naturalized citizen from Lebanon. 02:44 But you know whose fault it is? Do you know whose fault it is? It's Donald Trump's fault. ...between Muslims in the West, Muslims and the people of the Jewish faith, in large part because of what's happening in Iran. And you have to wonder about the connectedness. You have to wonder about the ways in which this environment further radicalizes people. And you have to wonder fundamentally about the degree to which this White House, which has been caught completely flat-footed on a war of choice... 03:11 really has the personnel in place and actually the interest in keeping Americans safe. Because thus far, the data that we've been given, whether it's the Pentagon downplaying the brutality of the attack that killed the six American service members in Kuwait, whether it is the president wearing a baseball cap to a dignified transfer, whether it is the way in which he talks about the collateral damage of war, doesn't give you a sense that the safety and the security of the American people is paramount. 03:40 It's Donald Trump's fault. When that guy showed up at Old Dominion this morning armed, that was Donald Trump's fault. When that vehicle rammed Temple Israel, that was Donald Trump's fault. When those Muslims that vowed allegiance to ISIS threw a bomb in the streets of New York, that's Donald Trump's fault. When that guy showed up in New York wearing a ah 04:09 property of Allah T-shirt or hoodie and killed multiple people. That's Donald Trump's fault. It's all Donald Trump's fault. Let's go to Gene in Greenville and talk to him. Gene, what do you think about this? Well, so much to say, Charlie. It's incredible. But I want to go back to the year 2016, the Democrat National Convention. I don't know if you paid ...
Olivia Nuzzi is in the headlines again for an alleged inappropriate relationship with a source. Nuzzi's former partner, Ryan Lizza, is using his newsletter to make the claims about Nuzzi and…former Republican presidential candidate Mark Sanford in 2020. Lizza's ongoing, multi-part series about Nuzzi amid her book launch is an uncomfortable read for its florid prose and revenge porn vibes. Never forget: The New Yorker fired Lizza for unspecified sexual misconduct allegations in 2017, at the height of the #MeToo movement. Meanwhile, Lizza continues to target Nuzzi, who committed one of the most serious public ethical breaches in journalism with former Democratic-turned-independent presidential candidate and current Trump administration Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. This week, Katelyn and Christine discuss the mess with Marisa Kabas, the acclaimed independent journalist who founded The Handbasket. This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit smokeempodcast.substack.comNancy and Sarah discuss political writer Olivia Nuzzi, who became the main character on Twitter this week when an excerpt from her new memoir, published in Vanity Fair, coincided with a bombshell story by ex-fiancee Ryan Lizza. The scandal included cameos by broadcaster Keith Olbermann, politician Mark Sanford, and Livvy, a pop-music persona Nuzzi created at 16. Nuzzi is a talented journalist who's appeared on this podcast. Last year, she lost her gig at New York magazine after news hit about an entanglement with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. This sordid new chapter created a feeding frenzy among (many less talented) journalists, but Sarah and Nancy try to push past the schadenfreude to understand how we got here: the little girl drawn to the spotlight, fluent in the double-speak of politicians, and the ambitious young woman who lost both parents by 30. Also discussed:* That time Patty Hearst and the SLA hid out in Disneyland* The magic of the open road* “I like messy people.”* A political profile vs. a celebrity profile* Rule #1: Don't sleep with your sources.* Rule #2: Do not look through your significant other's stuff* The Keith Olbermann of it all* Vanity Fair and glamour of the 90s* Remember that time a governor from New Jersey was caught having sex with a dude, and it became a whole giant scandal? Yeah, us neither* More Monmouth Musings could use a better name …* Livvy, the “morally bankrupt” and “undeniably infectious” pop tartlet* The dirty-girl era of Ke$ha and Lady Gaga* The exhibitionism of the iPhone * Sarah will lay her chips on Nuzzi's futurePlus, Sarah can see alcoholism in people's eyes, Nancy reconnects with a former flame, a nearly unbelievable story about a 38-year-old unopened letter from Ken Kesey and much more!Make your world bigger. SEASON 4 EPISODE 35: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-BLOCK (2:30) SPECIAL COMMENT: Trump is now a lame duck. A lame Donald. A lame duck Donald. A lame Donald Duck. I like it. It’s not just that MAGA stood up to him and a GOP/Democratic coalition beat him 427 to 1 on Epstein. It's that that was something even most of the Washington political media industrial complex can understand, can process, can WRITE using the cliches in which they trafficked until Trump and his unprecedented madness came along. This looked all too familiar and they jumped on it with both feet and the same cliché: LAME DUCK. Fortune used it. NBC. Semafor. The National Review. Nate Silver's site asked "Is Trump A Lame Duck?" CNN's went further: "Is Trump A Lame Duck NOW?" It's so bad there was a Politico Lame Duck Listicle! "Seven signs Trump is losing his groove." And then the final nail: “It’s Official: Donald Trump is a lame duck by President”by Chris Cillizza, part of his weekly conversation with Chuck Todd. It's never over til it's over, Yogi, but it's over. B-BLOCK (25:00) SPECIAL COMMENT: I'm the character in The (Latest) Olivia Nuzzi story who gets shot in the first scene, but I still know more about her than almost any outsider and there is a lot to correct on her epically bad book excerpt in Vanity Fair, and the riposte by the more recent ex, Ryan Lizza, who was apparently told by Olivia that I was stalking her at the same time as Olivia was telling me there was a guy in Washington stalking her, named Ryan Lizza. The Nuzzi News is a Doozy and we all lose. This was to be a comeback; now she'll need an entirely new comeback to come back from her come back. And how does Vanity Fair keep her employed after the Mark Sanford accusation made her explanation of her RFK Jr lies into a separate lie? C-BLOCK (1:00:00) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Trump accuses himself of rigging the 2020 census. It was in July, but Bill O'Reilly insisted that Jeffrey Epstein was prosecuted by Biden and Garland, and refused to correct himself even after he was reminded Epstein died during Trump's first presidency. And Bill Maher says he's giving up touring because people who are half as funny are selling twice as many tickets. Who does he mean? The New York Jets? Sorry Drew… but James Franklin is the new coach of Virginia Tech football. The Detroit Lions are letting Drew down. The Detroit Pistons are rolling along. Cloudflare had an issue today and knocked a bunch of websites (including ours) down. Shedeur Sanders had his house burglarized during his NFL debut. Some Real Housewives were also burgled. Scientology: Danny Masterson is whining from prison. Scientology is on the down low recently. Suri Cruise is now Suri Noelle. Tom Cruise is bashing Nicole Kidman. Trudi has finally watched the Mission Impossible movies. Jeff Bezos is funding the Met Gala. He's also renovating a home for Lauren Sanchez. Reminder that Adolf Hitler had a tiny pee pee. Elon Musk takes a shot at back at Billie Eilish. Chiara Ferragni is the Kim Kardashian of Italy. Now she's in hot water. Charlie Saunders is a gross OnlyFans creator and it cost her dad his job for some reason. Kim Kardashian wants to be a lawyer so bad, but never will. We've received ANOTHER dash cam of an accident while listening to our program. Some people are saying there may be a warrant out for the arrest of Stuttering John Melendez. Olivia Nuzzi is finally telling her side of the story. She famously had a platonic affair with RFK Jr. Her ex points out that she also nailed the infamous Gov. Mark Sanford. Rap music is falling hard off the charts. “Principled individual” Nicki Minaj is speaking to the UN. Drew has found John Lennon music he's never heard before. There is a new John and Yoko documentary out on HBO Max. The internet is not a cloud; it's a house of cards that is built on the foundation of a small number of companies. When one of those companies goes down, it becomes a widespread issue. We saw that today when Cloudflare's latest outage took out X, ChatGPT, Spotify, and other websites. Glenn breaks down how each outage affects you and ponders what happens when a foreign enemy goes after some of these critical companies. Texas has become the home of hundreds of mosques, as Glenn warns of the political religion that could lead to the complete takeover of Texas and the West. As more information comes out about the man who tried to assassinate President Trump, the FBI's failure comes to light. How did the FBI fail to stop somebody who openly threatened the president? Glenn and Stu further discuss the degenerate nature of the furry community. Congressman Ralph Norman has officially entered the South Carolina governor's race, promising to “clean up Columbia” and take on the entrenched political establishment. Known for his unwavering fiscal conservatism—even when it meant opposing Donald Trump—Norman brings backbone and a reform-minded agenda, including a proposed Department of Government Efficiency. The hosts explore the brewing primary showdown between moderate and hardline conservatives, the influence of past figures like Jim DeMint and Mark Sanford, and why this race is shaping up to be anything but boring. With potential entrants like Nancy Mace and policy positions from abolishing the state income tax to expanding gun rights, South Carolina's GOP primary could be a defining moment for the future of red-state governance.

Former Governor, Congressman, and Presidential Candidate Mark Sanford joins me this week to discuss resilience, leadership, and lessons from his dynamic political journey. A prominent Republican figure, Sanford rose to national attention in 1994 as South Carolina's Congressman, quickly earning a reputation as one of the most fiscally conservative members of Congress. He later served two terms as Governor, implementing policies aimed at improving the state's business climate and job prospects. However, his career faced a turning point in 2009 due to a widely publicized affair that led to the end of his marriage and seemingly his political future. In a remarkable comeback, Sanford reclaimed his congressional seat in 2013 and became one of President Trump's few vocal Republican critics, a stance that ultimately led to his 2018 primary defeat. In his memoir, Two Roads Diverged, Sanford reflects on the defining moments of his public life, sharing candid insights on his mistakes, growth, and the lessons learned in maintaining integrity even when it's challenging. Sanford's story is a compelling look at resilience, redemption, and the complexity of American politics._______________________More about Mark SanfordSanford burst onto the national stage in 1994 when he was elected to represent South Carolina's 1st congressional district. A fiscally conservative Republican, Sanford quickly gained a reputation as Congress's most fiscally conservative member, known for his unwavering commitment to reducing government spending. His political star continued to rise as he was elected Governor of South Carolina, serving two terms and accomplishing a long list of firsts designed to better people's lives and make the state more inviting for businesses and entrepreneurs. However, Sanford's life took a major turn in his sixth year as Governor. In 2009, a well-chronicled affair brought about the collapse of his 20-year marriage and what seemed to be the end of his political career. Yet, in a remarkable display of political resilience, Sanford made a comeback in 2013, winning a special election to reclaim his old congressional seat and serving until 2019.During his second stint in Congress, Sanford became known as one of President Trump's most vocal Republican critics, a stance that ultimately contributed to his primary defeat in 2018. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Sanford briefly threw his hat into the ring for the 2020 Republican presidential nomination, positioning himself as a voice for fiscal responsibility.Discover more about Mark Sanford at https://www.marksanford.com/_______________________Connect with Whitney McDuffAttribution Link: Whitney's Website Attribution Link: The Dames Group Attribution Link: Standing Ovation Society –––––––––––––––––––––––––––Track: Welcome — Declan DP [Audio Library Release]Music provided by Audio Library PlusWatch: • Welcome — Declan DP | Free Background... After Eric unleashes a tirade against Pinterest, his winner for Most Homophobic Social Media Platform In Existence, he and Christopher kick off the next chapter of Sex Scandal Summer by serving up an hour of television that makes its host look worse than the scandalous subject. In episode 2, season 1 of THE UNITED STATE OF SCANDAL, entitled “Mark Sanford”, the notoriously unfaithful conservative Southern politician pales in comparison to host Jake Tapper, who, while making the story largely about himself, reveals distressing political biases hiding behind a strange soft-pedaled apology. In the end, Christopher and Eric are left craving some real journalism on this iconic political sex scandal — or maybe just a long hike on the Appalachian Trial with their favorite international reporters.

This episode for our Host Randal Wallace may be the most fun of any we have done. It tells the story of the life of the Congressional District and region of South Carolina that was the 6th District of South Carolina. It opens after ABSCAM has ended John Jenrette's career and everyone involved is moving on from the scandal. The District was represented by John Napier for a single term, then by a Florence , South Carolina Democrat named Robin Tallon for a number of years. But after the 1990 census the former 6th District is divided up geographically and its political strength evaporates. Tallon steps down as James Clyburn is elected to serve the new 6th District which engulfs Florence County. While Horry County is placed in the South Carolina First District where it is dominated by Charleston S.C. Over the next twenty years the region has several different Congressman all but one of which is from Charleston County with various interest levels for what is happening in Horry and Georgetown Counties. We are represented by Tommy Hartnett, Arthur Ravenell, Mark Sanford, Henry Brown (Berkely County) , and Tim Scott. Then in 2010 everything changed. A new census led to a big fight in the South Carolina State House as the state was awarded a new 7th Congressional District. We will see the maneuverings by the man who could rightfully be called the Father of the 7th district, Alan Clemmons, lead to the South Carolina Pee Dee Region finally getting its seat back in which the region was represented together. That is where the fun part for our Host begins as we relive that very first race for Congress and the election of that first 7th district Congressman ensues. which eventually led to the election of Tom Rice. A race in which our host, Randal Wallace, was a small part as a candidate for Congress. We will also see the rise of our new Congressman Russell Fry, who attained the office just at the beginning of this year , 2024, after his endorsement by former President Donald Trump, and his historic election victory. All of which will lead us back to a final look at the remarkable life and contributions to our region of our first, and until this year, only Horry County native Congressman John Jenrette. His career was a rollercoaster ride of wild excess, historic success, and an enormously dramatic and historic fall, all of which happened in a pivotal 6 year period that laid the foundation for a region of the country that can now lay claim to the title the fastest growing area in the nation. Comets have staying power because they orbit the sun, while shooting stars burn up as they crash through the Earth's atmosphere. The early take on Nikki Haley, who made her GOP presidential primary debut yesterday with a speech in Charleston, S.C., is that she's more likely to shine brightly for a moment and then fall to Earth. “[H]ers will be a highly conventional campaign,” wrote Rich Lowry after watching her announcement video, and “there will be a number of other candidates with as strong or a stronger case to represent generational change.” In a pretty brutal editorial this morning, the Wall Street Journal says there is “no clear rationale for her candidacy.” Over at the Times, they assembled 10 pundits to assess Haley's candidacy, and the majority opinion was that the two-term governor and former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations shouldn't be taken very seriously. “Nikki Haley Will Not Be the Next President,” reads the headline. We are old enough to remember when pundits in 2015 declared that Donald Trump would never be president, and we can recall nights in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada in late 2019 and early 2020 when the same was said about Joe Biden. Haley acknowledged the low expectations set by the nattering nabobs. “I've been underestimated before,” she said. She entered politics in 2004 by defeating South Carolina's longest-serving House member. In 2010, she leapt from the statehouse to the governor's mansion after defeating a field of seasoned politicians in a GOP primary and overcoming her close association with disgraced Gov. Mark Sanford. Subscribe to the POLITICO Playbook newsletter Raghu Manavalan is the host and senior editor of POLITICO's Playbook Daily Briefing. South Carolina senators rejected a ban on almost all abortions Thursday in a special session called in the aftermath of the U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade.Although Republicans had a majority of votes to pass the ban, Republican Sen. Tom Davis threatened to filibuster and proponents of the ban could not get the extra votes to stop him.Davis, the chief of staff for former Gov. Mark Sanford before being elected to the Senate in 2009, was joined by the three Republican women in the Senate, a fifth GOP colleague and all the chamber's Democrats to oppose the proposed ban.Davis opposes a blanket ban on abortions in South Carolina and said he would argue against the bill until the 46-member Senate mustered the 26 votes required to end the filibuster. That appeared unlikely to happen, as only after 24 senators voted for an amended bill that included exceptions for pregnancies cause by rape or incest up to 12 weeks after conception. Twenty senators were opposed and two were absent. After a recess to work through their options, Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey conceded the abortion ban likely couldn't pass, although a vote to end debate had not been taken.”This is a math question, you have to have the votes to pass it - and we do not,” Massey said.Davis said he promised his daughters he would not vote to make South Carolina's current six-week abortion ban stricter because women have rights, too.READ MORE: https://www.wcnc.com/article/news/politics/south-carolina-senate-abortion-ban/101-04933ad1-2515-401e-80a4-0dab42decb7a The Concord Police Department has released body camera footage from a deadly police shooting in Concord; the shooting happened in February at the Modern Nissan Dealership in Concord. The Concord Police Department said former Concord police officer Timothy Larson was on routine patrol when he says he saw 29-year-old Brandon Combs trying to steal a vehicle from the dealership. Remember that time in the bible when Jesus was getting divorced, and his ex-wife didn't want the kids to sleep over at his house with any paramours about? Former Governor of South Carolina, Mark Sanford, does! Or rather, he tried to imagine what Jesus would do if HE had been caught having an adulterous affair with a hot Argentinian mistress and not hiking the Appalachian Trail. Apparently it's exactly the same thing that Governor Sanford did so everything turned out peachy. Mr. Sanford was quick to impeach Bill Clinton for having an affair and even quicker to forgive himself for the same transgression. But it was a forgiveness that came after several very public apologies and some help from his political-religious group, The Family. The good news is that The Family (aka The Fellowship) has a lot of experience helping politicians deal with infidelities, they really understand politics, and religion, and exactly how Heaven wants things ordered on Earth. From C Street to your street, the Apologists tackle Apocalyptic Christianity's influence in 21st Century politics.
