With no musical background in her family, at the age of 9 started playing guitar. Sarah Gosling BBC introducing Cornwall & Devon 'We have something new, bare and brilliant from fresh find Shannon Lewis. I love anyone who’s a bit experimental with format and seemingly sampling her own song at the beginning is a genius way of doing that. This is ‘The Abyss’. I think that’s utterly stunning, well done Shannon. That has got such a beautiful production standard to it and so much deep depth of feeling and you can’t go wrong with a well of emotion.' Episode 26: Chryssa Brown Having picked up the guitar at 24, Chryssa is a relatively new face to the music scene. Despite this, music has always been an important part of her life. Growing up in Devon and with roots now in Portsmouth, Chryssa is not one to shy away from new adventures and she tries to encapsulate this spirit in her lyrics and melodies. Episode 25: Owly Dave Owly Dave busked the Paris Metro for 3 years in the late 70's playing mainly Donovan and Dylan songs. In the early 80's he played in DenRay's band 'Planet Waves'. With a warm and powerful tone, Rose has a distinctive sound and is complimented for her emotional delivery. A BBC Introducing artist, she has regular exposure on BBC radio and BBC Introducing gigs and was a featured 'Artist of the Week' on the Georgey Spanswick show in 2017. Episode 9: Michelle Dilling Another newcomer to the spoken word world, Michelle can normally be seen on stage fronting local band Vivid Vague, however, shes still as confident behind the mic delivering her very first spoken word set. Her performance about mental health and the perceptions of men is delivered powerfully and is evident that Michelle feels passionately about her chosen subjects. Episode 20: Bob Gallie Bob Gallie is someone we discovered in the Taunton area and we're so glad we did! We don't normally allow covers as its a singer songwriter evening, however, during Bob's line check he started playing along with the Radiohead song that was playing. Listening to it through the headphones to how good it was we decided to turn off the music and let everyone else listen, so his set starts with this song before the this very accomplished musician and singer went onto perform hi own material. Episode 8: Endakat Former front woman of the Sunvains has gone solo! With her musty almost Velvet Underground tones Endakat has started to create herself a foothold in the music world. Some of her music may sound a little bubblegummy on the surface but it’s actually got a lot more going on and it’s kind of got an otherness, which is very enticing.
